When I first moved back to Corpus (now almost a decade ago), I recall bookmarking this place. At the time, I was still eating at a lot of "greasy spoon" restaurants, and this place looked like it would hit the spot. Shortly thereafter I started eating better and forgot about this place until just recently. Fast forward many years later, and I now have honed "healthy eating" at just about any restaurant, so I thought I would give Snapka's Drive Inn a shot. And I was not dissapointed! It's a very old school drive inn diner that serves a somewhat limited menu of comfort foods, from burgers, fries and onion rings, to some Tex-Mex as well. It's small, it's cozy, and the service is good. Although I only ordered burger patties with bacon (which was easy to do), I observed (and smelled) all of the other patrons food, which seemed excellent. It was very good food and a very good experience. I'll definitely be coming back here sometime soon. read more

Driven past this place for 25+ years when my territory has coved CC and it's always got a steady crowd. It's a shack a true Drive (#DDD) with years and years of true South Texas character. Charming hole in the wall something your grandparents or great grandparents would say that's where they would gather back in the day. Great service everything made fresh to order. Burger was ok. Sorry, maybe I ordered wrong. I only had cheese and mustard because I was driving to another appointment (didn't want to make a mess with veggies) just was dry. However, I am a sucker for homemade onion rings. Breaded not beer batter dipped is the only way to go. These were lightly batters in a crispy crust with just a pinch of salt. No special seasoning (seasoning salt ) they let the sweet onion do its thing. Gotta be the top 1 or 2 I've ever had. Had a craving for a homemade burger and this place did not disappoint. We dined in and liked the retro chrome and red vinyl chairs, and old fashioned convertible motif. Staff were knowledgeable on the menu and very kind. It took about fifteen minutes to receive our full order as it is all made to order with fresh beef and not under a heat lamp. Everything is fresh and hot off the grill. Husband and I had double meat double cheese and bacon burgers as well as a side of onion rings. Burger was fresh and flavorful, juicy and fresh lettuce and tomatoes and toppings. The onion rings are flavorful, crunchy and keep their crunch throughout eating them and not greasy. Also tried an old fashioned strawberry malt as I never had a malt before. They have Bluebell ice cream which was hand scooped, malt powder added for that old fashioned flavor and made in an old fashioned metal milk shake blender. Excellent prices, better than any fast food chain out there. Definitely we will be back. Come try this mom and pop drive in for an old fashioned malt shoppe experience. Decided, in an extended effort to give them business, I'd show up before closing to place an order in person and instead they say they're closed. According to their hours they definitely were not closed. She just said ,"I don't know, just saying what my manager told me." Very cavalier, raising her hands with a don't really care gesture, the entire interaction was extremely rude. Mind you this was not to just us, but to multiple customers waiting. This place is the cutest coziest burger joint I have ever been too. The waitress are exactly what you expect. Funny, cute, carrying their own conversation but incorporating anyone who could hear it. Ha! The menu is clear cut. I'll attach it below. I got the regular Dixie burger. 8/10 With the chili cheese fries 10/10 Onion rings were amazing crispy & not covered in grease! 9/10 Chili cheese dog was good if you're a hot dog person. I ordered steak fingers with fries & onion rings and enjoyed it - a bit on the salty for me and I ordered cream gravy and got brown gravy instead (which I discovered when I got home). Filling, a tad greasy, but definitely A-Ok for diner food -- willing to try it again because of friendly staff and good prices. Was not fond of the coleslaw or fries -- but okay for a first try. I did try to go through the drive-thru yesterday (Saturday noon) for a quick malt drink, but vehicle in front of me was stationary there at the window -- presumably waiting for order -- over 10 minutes. My wife and I spent a few days in Rockport, but there was one place in Corpus Christi that we had to eat at again. That was Snapka's Drive Inn on Weber. This is not some "burger joint" it is a "burger happening"! My wife had a small burger and onion rings. I had the big burger with fries. We took our treats back to our condominium in Rockport. We experienced paradise in burger-land while overlooking the bay! Snapka's serves great burger, and the sides are scrumptious! They cook everything just right. The young lady (do they still say carhop?) who brought out our order was great! She brought everything quick, hot, and scrumptious. She gave my wife and me (senior citizens) a wonderful smile and had a pleasing deposition about her job. Thanks, young lady for your wonderful service and smile! Everytime I go back to this location it just keeps going down the crapper. I was the only one in the drive thru and it took 25 minutes to make and serve one frikken' order. And then there was a problem with the order. To make good on that cost me another 12 minutes. The steak sandwhich was small and not that great. ... nothing like I expected. I've had better experiences. I would not call this place a Fast food joint. because speed is not their specialty. And that would be OK if the food came out really really good.
