We don't get out to sit down spots as much as we used to. It's getting harder to justify the cost these days. That said, we made a trip to Hopdoddy recently and I was surprised at how reasonable it ended up being for a family of four. I went with the double bacon jam burger. The meat was well seasoned and cooked right, and the bun held up with everything going on, which isn't always the case. My son had a classic burger and finished it fast with no complaints. My daughter is picky and went with the grilled cheese, but even that disappeared without a fight, which says a lot. My wife ordered the Nashville hot sandwich and it came out as a huge piece of chicken. She couldn't finish it, but my son had no problem stepping in later. We shared the parmesan truffle fries and the regular hand cut fries. Both were crispy and paired well with everything else. The place was busy during a weekend lunch rush, but the staff stayed friendly and kept things moving. Food came out quick, and the place looked clean despite the crowd. Pretty decent place for burgers. Mine was over salty and extremely greasy though. Order at the counter and then go find a seat. Employees here were prompt on getting our food to us. The ahi in bowl form was surprisingly delicious. Tons of different flavors and textures. Honestly I thought this was another blah chain restaurant but I am glad I gave Hopdoddy a try! Their burgers are juicy and delicious. Fries come ordered seperately and are family style in a bowl. This location is very heavy handed on salt so I ask for no salt on the fries. The fries are still tasty. My favorite is the sage hot honey sweet potato fries! Every employee I have interacted with has been honest, respectful, professional, and eager to help. You can either sit indoors, at the bar, or out on the patio. I had a really disappointing experience at Hopdoddy Burger Bar recently. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar, and at one point we were literally the only customers there--but our bartender, Marissa L., kept disappearing for long stretches of time. It was frustrating trying to get any sort of consistent service when there was no reason for that level of absence. What really stood out (in a bad way) was when we asked if we could upgrade our sweet potato fries to the hot honey sage fries and pay the difference. Instead of even attempting to check with the kitchen, she immediately told us no. We even tried to upgrade additional fries and were repeatedly told no again--without her ever checking or offering any explanation as to why. As someone who has worked in restaurants for years, I know that kind of request is typically very doable, especially with a willingness to pay an upcharge. It felt less like a policy issue and more like a lack of effort or willingness to help. Overall, the experience came off as inattentive and unaccommodating, which is disappointing because the restaurant itself has potential. Good service goes a long way, and unfortunately, this visit completely missed the mark. read more

I am so happy that we came to this burger bar, it's our new favorite! The Nashville hot bowl is very spicy and delicious, it's just perfect. The kids grilled cheese is also worth trying, if you're a kid of course. Truffle fries were amazingly crispy and fresh, they are perfect for sharing with your friends and family. The magic shroom burger was amazing too, it's perfectly creamy. It's basically a serve yourself restaurant, but everyone we talked to was super nice. The ambiance is great too. Everyone loved their burgers. I had mine keto which means without the bun. Instead, the patty with cheese and bacon was placed on a bed of green, tomatoes, onions, pesto and goat cheese. I cleaned the bowl. It was really good. I would have gotten a beer but I think 7 dollars is too much to pay for something I don't even usually order. Other than that, everything was great. My First Hopdoddy was WAY BACK in Austin TX there in South Congress when they had long lines. Experience was amazing! I haven't been to a Hopdoddy since probably 2017-18 when I visited the one in Rice Village Area in Houston, that experience was subpar... Happy to see them expand in Corpus Christi! and tried out their Happy Hour and then noticed some new menu items. Our burgers, fries and drinks we good! The manager was great, greeting us at the door and offering helpful ordering hints. The rest of the service was lackadaisical at best. The young lady at the order station was surly. My wife accidentally got lemonade instead of water. She told one of the employees who explained what she should have done, but did not offer to rectify the situation. We would have enjoyed another drink, but no one asked. It was not crowded when we were there. I understand that it is basically a do it yourself place, but customers should always feel wanted and appreciated. I got kicked out for instructing the bar tender on how to make a vodka press. I told her 3 times what the ingredients were (vodka, sprite, seltzer, lime) and i drank about 2 sips of each and they were terrible and i was being nice about it. The first one had only vodka and lemon juice in it. The second one had some sprite and a bunch of lemon juice. Before i left i said i would tip the young lady 20 dollars if we could get a decent press and then i was told it was my last drink and i had 1 shot of vodka and 1 beer. Wanted a Grub burger but found out it was now HopDaddy's. Googled which is best and found out that they merged. Decided I'd give it a try since I had to pickup some dry cleaning on Staple anyway. Downloaded app and ordered the best burger, the $15.00 Prime-time. Was supposedly wagyu steak. Got there it wasn't ready, sat down got a beer and a shot while I waited. Got home the burger was dry af. I was too disappointed. $15 for this? Five guys is much better! First, when you go there, they have no way of letting you know when your food is ready. After checking in and then ordering a beer, I ask the bartender how would I know when my food was ready? She said oh, they'll just bring it out to you. Okay except I went to check and mines and it was just sitting there getting cold while about 3 of the workers were just standing around it talking. Second, the cook is over cooking the burgers. When you order the only option I saw was a check box for "no pink". I did not check that box. However my wagyu steak burger had no pink, in fact it was dry. They can't be charging $15 for a dry Burger. I'm not going back. Grub burger was much better. Ima check the new place called Birria's, if it ain't no good I'm back to five guys with their expensive a$$ fries.‍ read more
