Great spot and the staff is very helpful. I personally used this location for renting snorkel gear, which worked out great since my wifes feet are so small. They even had prescription masks so she didn't have to wear her glasses either. The products they offered were very good and affordable. We rented snorkel equipment for the week from Snorkel Bobs. Very affordable, and Jackie was so wonderful with recommendations on where to snorkel, as well as how to look up the surf report. We ended up booking a snorkel tour for EO Waianae through them as well (they give you a discount) and had an amazing time! I found out about Snorkel Bob's through Yelp because I initially was just going to rent a life vest but decided why not rent snorkeling gear as well. The person who helped me was Larry, and let me tell you, he's the man! My bf and I walked in and we were helped right away. He started getting us fitted with our goggles. I wear glasses so it was awesome to find out that they had prescription goggles on deck. After, he then helped us with all the other gear and was checking on our comfort level. I booked a scuba trip with Oahu Diving and needed to rent prescription goggles, and it was recommended that I come here. The guy at the front desk was very sweet and picked out the perfect goggles for me in seconds! All he did was look through my glasses, and BOOM! picked out my prescription in goggles. Friendly staff. Easy parking. Easy access off of Waikiki. The equipment is new and worth the price for a week rental, $25-35. However charging $25 for a lifevest for one week that sells on Amazon for $29 at full retail is a bit of a rip off. They provide maps and good information about how to snorkel. read more

My group rented for 4 and Nick made it a very easy and smooth process! He gave us recommendations for some awesome snorkel spots so we could be in the prime fish and turtle spots. Been to this location twice and another Snorkel Bobs on Maui and Hawaii and have always had a good experience. I always get the middle of the road equipment which has always worked. Price is right at about $25 a week for snorkel equipment which isn't to bad at all. When your visiting the islands make sure to stop here to rent your snorkel gear. One of my favorite activities on the islands is kayaking and then jumping in the water to snorkel near a reef that I found. So bring your gear with you when you explore! read more

The equipment did not work the way it should have. Masks leaked, the snorkle was missing the guard that kept waterout of the mouth. They tested everything on return and the equipment tested bad. They gave us our money back. read more

The equipment that we received - the "Ultimate Truth" wasn't anything special. We rented for a week. It's silly, but they claim to charge you if you don't bring back the little bottle of anti-fog solution. We kept on having to drain the snorkels manually while we were in the water, even though the equipment had a so-called "one-way" valve. I'd say save your money on the equipment and go with a lower-end package. Or better yet, just buy the snorkel equipment from any number of shops out there for less. The guy at the counter that attended to us was not friendly - he would ask us whether we had any questions and when we asked them, he would say "I'll explain all of that in a few minutes." No smiles. We dropped off our gear in Maui and had a more pleasant experience there, but I'd say avoid the whole thing. The inter-island drop-off is the best thing about the place. read more

Went to Snorkel Bob's to quickly pick up some equipment for a snorkel excursion today. Reynaldo had us all setup and ready to go in under 10 minutes. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. He recommend some snorkeling spots and gave us a sheet with pictures so we could identify the fish we saw! I don't live in Hawaii but next time I visit this is the only place I will rent snorkel gear from! The equipment was high quality and very reasonably priced. They also have an after hours drop off box which made it really easy to return! The daily price is for a 24 hour rental not just the hours they are open. After my first snorkeling experience at Hanauma Bay, I decided to rent snorkeling gear here to take around the island. For $9 a day, I got the complete set and the quality was much better than the rental at the H Bay. The rental was a breeze - took less than 5 minutes to try on the mask and fins. The employee was helpful,friendly and suggested places to snorkel for the day. They even give you anti-fog goop for free! How cool is that? Returns were a cinch and they have a drop box for after hours return. Whenever I get to visit Oahu again, Snorkel Bob's will be my go-to place for snorkel gear. read more

We have had great experiences with Snorkle Bob's in the past, but recently we were really shammed and I'm wondering if their operation has gone downhill. My family of five booked a snorkle cruise through Snorkle Bobs. It was our second to last day on the island and we had been looking forward to it for weeks. We were so excited and got up at 5:30 (yes 5:30) in order to be to the dock on time. We got in line, got on the boat (my kids were so excited for the boat ride and the slide) and got all settled in. Suddenly, we were called to the front of the boat and asked to leave. The Lani Kai boat told us that we had been scammed by Snorkle Bobs and that we didn't actually have seats on the boat. I had to tell my kids to pack up and get off the boat...with tears in their eyes. One other family on the boat had the same thing happen with their tickets from Snorkle Bobs. It was awful. Given the impacted snorkle cruises, we didn't have time to book another cruise (the next available was weeks later). We were simply just left there on the dock, with crying kids, at 6:30 in the morning. Our family was so sad, and when I contacted Snorkle Bob's they had no explanation whatsoever and eventually refunded just the cost of the tickets. It was nice to get that refund, but we didn't get anything for the $150 we had to spend to get the docks and back, nor any explanation for the complete disaster of the booking. I called and emailed a number of times and didn't receive any apology at all. I'm beginning to think it was actually a scam. I would be very hesitant to book anything with Snorkle Bob's again, especially if it is important to your vacation. read more

Great price. Good people. The man who took care of us was down-to-earth. Not trying to be extra/fake nice, just genuine and obviously wanted us to enjoy our experience. We rented 6 sets of snorkel equipment and a boogie board. One of the goggles broke when we tried to tighten the strap. It happens. When we returned the equipment and mentioned this, they immediately gave us a refund - no fuss, although we weren't expecting anything. I recommend the equipment rental over booking a snorkeling tour. You pay $9 plus tax for a day's rental, and you can go to any beach. read more

Stopped in today as I lost a clip--thingy off my mask. The young man and woman in there--were super nice, very helpful and assisted me pronto! He even explained how to better clean my mask after a day of swimming! He made sure we had equipment that fit us, provided us with great information on some of the best places and times to snorkel and even when I needed to try on 3 different size flippers to get the right size he was so kind! They know what they are doing and have helped a million people. That comes through in the nearly-brusk attitudes. But if you need gear, it's an okay spot. Our gear worked great and fit really well. Just pay attention to the return time. If you are more than 1 hour late, you will get a pro-rated charge. Checking time is EXACTLY 24 hours (Or 48, or whatever) after you rented it. read more

We took advantage of their beach bum combo for $30... two beach chairs and a cheap umbrella. By city bus it's at least an hour round trip from the far end of Waikiki. The chairs are fairly cheap and well used but performed fine. If I were stranded on a desert island and could choose either that umbrella or an hourly colonoscopy performed by a sadistic one eyed circus monkey with the shakes, the umbrella would run a close second. Chairs in Waikiki cost $20 minimum and umbrellas at least $10... You can rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach for $30 a day and they are pretty nice... If you're only going to the beach once then do that. Otherwise Bob's it's probably the way to go. If the umbrella had been stronger, not broken in several places and bigger, I would've given them 4 stars. read more

My snorkel gear I purchased there a year ago broke while snorkeling on the North Shore. I needed it for a dolphin tour the next day at 7am so I needed it fixed before then. I called to let them know that I was going to be there a bit after their closing time and (Jeremy) said he would wait up a bit for me. I made my way there a bit after 5 and there he still was, a man of his words, was there to help me out. Long story short, Jeremy was there to save the day (and the next day!) Outstanding Service! I bought a Snorkel Bob's Seamo Facemask on Kauai in 2008. I've used it in many other states. Recently one of the buckles on the facemask broke off, and the other buckle was about to go too. It is a great facemask, so I googled Snorkel Bob's, under care and maintenance, to see if they had replacement parts. And they did! I called the toll free number, in Honolulu. I discussed the problem with Connie, and she asked me to send her a picture of the buckle in an email with my address. She verified that the mask had changed, but she had the old parts, and agreed to mail the buckles to me. What blew me away, is that there was no charge for this outstanding service! read more

For $23 we rented 2 sets of goggles (the nicest ones), flippers, and defogger for the day. Way cheaper than renting on site, we paid about double the price over at Hanauma Bay. Customer service wasn't spectacular but I couldn't really complain nor care for the price we paid. read more

I brought my own snorkel gear with me, but stopped into Snorkel Bob's to make sure we didn't forget anything before heading out to Hanauma Bay. Snorkel Bob's had a lot of gear in a lot different sizes. The prices were really cheap and they let you keep it for days. Their hours are from 8am-5pm, so you might want to stop in the day before you actually want to go snorkeling if you plan on going early. This location is on the way to Leonard's, Rainbow Drive-in and the freeway which is nice. I noticed a drop off bin, if you return your gear after hours too. read more

Especially for beginner snorkelers such as me, the staff was super helpful in helping me find the right gear, how to use everything, and even the great places to check out around the island. The rates are very competitive too, and you can rent for a few days, a week, etc. What's also great is if you decide to keep the gear longer than you thought you could return them later and they won't charge you any late fees or anything, just the additional regular rate for however extra days you keep. You could also return after hours, or before they open and they won't charge you an extra day, which was super convenient for us while we were in Oahu. read more
