    Delicious chicken tender sandwich
    Ginny C.

Chicken tender sandwich was so good! The chicken was generous, hot, and crispy. The bread is delicious and the aioli and pickles are the perfect compliment. The sandwich also comes with a really good dipping sauce! I would 100% recommend.

the side of a food truck

Snout & Co. has been on the streets for awhile. The first time I saw the truck was at the Mobile Food Rodeo at Interbay. It seems like a really long time ago. I have a lot of respect for trucks that have staying power, a strong fan base, and stick to the integrity of what they do. I remember a lot of long lines that day. I stood in a line for Snout that was about 50 people deep and that's a conservative estimate. One of the reasons I like food trucks is that it's an easily accessible way for me to try various kinds of food. That day, I tried the cuban bowl and I wasn't a fan. I want to be clear, I think the quality was all there - it just wasn't my thing. Suffice to say that I've seen Snout off and on since then. Lee and his staff are very friendly and personable. They have an interactive, as opposed to a passive online presence. As a frequent food trucker, that's something I appreciate. I can get food anywhere. Trucks need to dazzle me a bit. I'm not a big sandwich fan, which some of you already know. That means, when I have a sandwich, it has to be good. The cuban is a sandwich worth trying. The bread, the meat, oh, you had me at meat. Not all sandwiches are nice to look at but I enjoy Snout's presentation. I'm a big meat eater but I also eat other things. You can often find me eating vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free fare. I love living in Seattle for just this reason. Fast forward to the black bean burger. I'm not a black bean fan. At all. However, I had heard various testimonials from trusted sources and decided to jump in a few weeks ago. Wow! It's a hearty burger that is packed with flavor and will definitely fill you up. Thumbs up.

    nasty fat chunks in sandwich

Never been to this truck, or had a Cuban sandwich before, and I had high hopes for both! Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I was the third in line when I showed up, then about three more people showed up after me. They tried to make all the Cubans at once, which was bad for me, because I had to wait longer for all of them to be made. The bread was good/high quality, and the concept of Cuban sandwich seemed to be solid. However, there were HUGE fat chunks in the ham (picture posted) which made it really nasty to eat. Once I hit the second chunk, I had to toss it. Better QC needed at this truck. This isn't even close to the likes of Where Ya At Matt's Po Boy sandwich which also parks by Amazon SLU (my work). If I ever go back (which isn't likely), I'll try the BBQ pulled pork to avoid ham fat chunks. Seriously ...those chunks have possibly tainted my Cuban sandwich eating for a while to come

The truck is parked in Bellevue on Mondays! I like this place's Cuban sandwich better than Paseo's. (My disclaimer is that I have only been to Paseo once. I was not a fan of the wait. And I walked to Gas Work park to eat the sandwich so by then I can see how greasy it was.) I had the Seattle Cuban. It was perfectly pressed. The sides are crispy. The avocado yellow and green with the purpose onion just made the entire sandwich pleasing to the eye. The fact that it was sliced diagonally and placed in the paper container in opposite direction shows that this truck cares about the presentation of its food. Just looking at the sandwich made me really happy. You do eat with your eyes first! The Cuban was also not greasy (can't say the say the same thing about Paseo). The mojo pork was moist and flavorful. I have great admiration for places that gets its pork just right. Honestly, no sauce was needed. Overall, this was one amazing sandwich while worth the price and I can't wait to go back.

Snout & Co at their 9th Ave N location

After going to the Mobile Food Rodeo and hearing that they beat out my favorite food truck, The Bistro Box, I had to give them a try. I headed to SLU and tried their Seattle Cuban Sandwich. Everything was very good. Their Seattle Cuban is a pressed sandwich with mojo pork, red onion relish and chimichurri mango sauce. Because the meat was thick and the bread was toasted, I wish their was more mango sauce as the sandwich ended up being a tad dry. I will say that I am one that likes my sandwiches with more sauce than less, so this might be perfect for some. I want to try them out again and go for their regular Cuban, or their black bean burger. I just figured to order the black bean burger the first time from a truck with a snout on the back...that'd be nonsense. Give them a try. Good ingredients, great taste...just need more of both.

Properly pressed Cubano. 3 OINKS on the 2foodies scale

When compared to many other Seattle cuban sandwiches Snout & Co. is in the low middle of the crowd. After all of the TV & Yelp hub-bub we were very excited to find a spot up there with Paseo (both locations). We will have to keep searching. The closest. to this level of perfection is Bunk Sandwiches in Portland. Keep trying, your ideas are good just not great yet. Proper ingredents, good preparation (the press), just not very full for he price. The Thursday location is quite a panic to find, but the owner was very helpful via the phone to locate the truck. The directions via electronic GPS sent us to Prospect St. & 5th , an upper Queen Anne Hill neighborhood, WTF. We will try it again, just not soon.

Lorenzo opened Paseo in 1994, where his popular Cuban roast pork sandwiches were regarded as among the best in the country. After years of local expansion, Paseo abruptly filed for bankruptcy in 2014. The brand was subsequently bought out by a local entrepreneur, but the sale did not include Paseo's secret recipes (the reboot attempted to reverse engineer the sandwiches with varying success). So, in 2015, Lorenzo's sons revived Paseo under a new name, Un Bien, armed with their father's original recipes. Nowadays, Un Bien is generally regarded as superior to Paseo, and you can grab their Caribbean sandos at one of the three locations across Seattle. You can't miss the pastel pink-and-teal palette of the original shack on an otherwise drab block of Ballard. As you approach the wooden window, you are greeted by the aroma of sauteed meats and veggies. Communal laquered wood benches are lined up underneath a covered pergola. Fifties hits ring respectfully around the kitchen. My partner and I visited for late weekday lunch, and we ordered immediately. We opted to focus on the signature pork shoulder, so we split the #1 Caribbean Roast and #2 The Press. Across both sandwiches, we were impressed by the tender pork, rich onions, lemon-forward aioli, and marinade-soaked baguette. The standard roast pork sandwich added on pickled jalapenos and crisp romaine, culminating in a dynamic flavor that accentuated the meat. Meanwhile, The Press featured tart banana peppers, smoked ham, and melty Swiss, amping up the sweet and savory flavors alike; we agreed that this extra-messy sandwich just edged out the standard version. Our order took just minutes to be prepared, and the bill just topped $30. Despite the fanfare, I still found myself surprised by just how satisfying Un Bien's sandwiches turned out to be. Across all the food I ate in Seattle, only these pork sandwiches would be worth a return visit, even if I had to venture out of my way.

We ordered promptly, but were told we would only have about 10 minutes to use the seating area before it closed. When we asked for clarification because the restaurant was advertised as being open until 9:00 PM, staff confirmed they were open until then but said the seating area would close earlier anyway. After receiving our food, we were told not to sit down and were asked to leave the seating area altogether. The interaction felt abrupt and discourteous, especially given that we had arrived well before closing and had purchased food with the expectation that we could eat on-site. The food itself was average, but the poor customer service and inconsistent messaging about seating left a much stronger impression than the meal. There are other better places. Skip.

Ordering is done at the counter, then you wait for a buzzer to grab your food, which made it feel more like a cafeteria or fast-food setup than a traditional restaurant. The food was okay, but heavily sauced and lacking the authentic Caribbean flavor I was hoping for. Being from the East Coast, I was really looking forward to some true Jamaican jerk chicken or flavorful oxtail, and unfortunately this missed the mark for me. The best comparison I can think of is making baby back ribs in the oven, pouring barbecue sauce on top, and calling them authentic BBQ ribs -- without the seasoning, smoke, or hours of preparation that make the real thing special. One big plus was the ample parking with generously sized spaces, which is definitely appreciated. Overall, probably not somewhere I'll become a frequent customer, but I could still see stopping in for a quick bite over McDonald's, Five Guys, or standard takeout Chinese food.

The Pollo al Carbon was not good at all. The chicken was smoked (dry) and the sauce underneath it taste like nothing. The veggies and potatoes were good though! The Hushpuppies tasted more like cinnamon and were simply not good. The Coco Greens tasted like kelp and coconut milk. Service was also decent! Our server was kind and friendly despite us returning the first thing that came out, the Hushpuppies. The drinks were made and sat for about 5mins after the bartender made them while our server was stocking silverware. I'll start with the beef, as it was the primary component of the dish. Despite it being flank steak, it was clearly simmered for a long time - and displayed none of the traditionally chewy or dry properties associated with the tougher cut. The sauce also helped - it was very well spiced, and had a slight tomato-like flavor. Mixing this with the yellow rice yielded something that was really satisfying to eat. The combination of sauce, beef, and rice was quite enjoyable, even with mixing the vegetables in for some extra crunch. The portion size of beef was crazy. When combined with the rice, the total amount of food here was solidly enough for two full meals. It is around 20 dollars for the dish, but I would classify that as a good value when you consider how much food you get. On the opposite side, I swapped the maduros out for fries. These...were not good. The fries tasted stale, hard, and not appealing at all. While the portion size was high, the appeal was not. The sauce that came with these was interesting at least. Overall, I think this is a very strong core dish at an impressive portion. Would recommend sticking with the plantains as a side though. 8.5/10
