I've seen this food truck downtown many times, but never stopped to try them out. I heard a lot of good things about them and glad I checked them out! Given that it is a food truck, I think they have a pretty good sized menu. About 5 "burger" selections, about another 5 "sandwich/wraps" selection, and a small section for sides and shakes. I got the "Fremont Philly".....its their version of the Philly Cheese Steak. It didnt really remind me of any cheese steaks I've ever ordered but it was still good. Its basically cooked seitan, with some mushrooms & peppers, nutritional yeast based cheeze sauce....aka "Nooch" for the cheese part.....all on a good hoagie roll, not sure where they get their bread from but its pretty good. A little messy when eating it but whatever, most importantly it was tasty! My friend got the "SLT" (Seitan, Lettuce, Tomato) with fries for an extra $2. It looked very tasty and she enjoyed it very much. Glad they post up on 2nd & Pike at least once a week, now I will stop by more often. Walked up and asked what fish was in the fish tacos. They explained they were vegan and I told them, okay, that is not an issue, what do you suggest? I was getting some lunch here last week when they were downtown in the parking lot with others. Nice color design, btw. Great stuff. Good flavors. I'm fairly sure I got the Mediteranean with subbed curry yam fries. The burger may have been tempeh, I don't mind, but the fries were definitely wrong: they were the regular fries. I love this food truck. It's been my incentive to brave the commute into the 206 on Wednesday when they grace 2nd and Pike (possibly moving to the Seattle public library soon). I've have eaten nearly everything on the menu and have not never disappointed, but my favorite is the chipotle grill topped with awesome sauce. I had the Mediterranean 8 oz Burger the other day and thought it was pretty good. This option was highly recommended by the staff and here are my thoughts: *mint-spiced seitan- think crumbled, skillet fried, and juicy- not bad for a meat substitute! *onion jam- great *pickled fig- I love all things fig- so coulda used a bit more fig taste on this one *mozzarella- the nasty fake stuff *arugula- fresh & crunchy. The service was great, but the prices seemed a bit high- even after this 8 oz burger I was still a bit hungry...maybe they could throw in some fries? Inconsistent serving sizes -- Same price, half the food: It seems like the food truck adjusts the serving sizes to be less as their availability of food gets to be less. I was in line and ordered the calamari, which they were all out of. Two other people had ordered the Buffalo Bites ahead of me. The first person gets a nice sized order of the food. After I placed my order, I'm standing by the window, and I heard one worker tell the other that the second serving (the one ahead of mine) was too big and to split it in half. Tried this today at the Mobile Food Rodeo and, while I unfortunately didn't try the burgers, I did grab an order of rosemary fries and a milkshake. The rosemary fries were tasty... Although, not sure if they forgot it, but they had no rosemary taste. For $7, I kind of want them to be seasoned in a way that I could taste the rosemary. The clincher for me was the cookies n' cream "milk"shake. It is PHENOMENAL! It definitely has a strong coconut milk flavor - and I think that adds to it. I've eaten from the truck before--years ago--and it was five stars, needless to say I was sooo looking forward to having lunch there again since it's been so long. First, I was so pleased that the truck *actually* showed up, because it's very inconsistent when expected somewhere. Several times since the five stars I've planned to eat at the truck, but it's not where it's suppose to be according to announcements or websites. It's so annoying and frustrating! Unfortunately--despite actually showing up--yesterday's lunch didn't even register one Yelp star. My lentil burger was icebox-cold and oozing in fatty dill aioli. My fries were just north of frozen and gooey with oil. My lemonade was in a cup of 90% ice. With tip I spent $30. I won't even go into how frustrating it is that tip is calculated at the post-tax cost and how much I detest tipping before service and eating--precisely this experience explains why. And now, 20 hours later, my mouth still tastes like fry oil. My gut is still heavy with raw lentil burger patty. There's so much disappointment here. There is no way to email Plum about my experience to inform them how awful it was (because a business doesn't want to provide bad service or have a poor reputation) or to request some sort of compensation for the negative experience. There's no contact info on its website. My phone calls goes unanswered. I am left with no way to voice my disappointment about my lunch or the heartache of dropping $30 for nothing--except here. read more

Was walking around downtown looking for some vegan food and happened to see this truck. Came right before they were about to close and there was no line. They do take cards which was convenient. Ordered the buffalo (panko crusted) portobello burger. Walked down to the market to eat it. Bun did get a little soggy but that was my fault for not eating it immediately. There was a nice spiciness to the buffalo sauce. Loved having the mixed greens and cucumbers on the burger. I was a little overwhelmed by the aioli though; the chef was a bit heavy handed with that but that's probably my only complaint. Lastly, which has nothing to do with the food itself but was the location. the downtown location for these food trucks kinda stink. There's really no where to sit and eat. read more

I had the kale & tofu salad and a side order of fries. The kale was raw, dressed with a soy-ginger dressing, and quite tasty, though cut a bit large (I had to tear several pieces up to get them to fit in my face.) The fries came with a side of aioli, were long and neither too thick nor too thin (not shoestrings, not steak fries) and some had a bit of crisp potato-peel still on them, which I find to be a nice touch. All their take-out ware appears to be compostable, as well, though I'm not 100% sure about the forks. But I thought that was another nice touch. Oh my lanta! The Buffalo Portobello burger is the best burger I've ever had! The sauce was delicious, it so much better than any vegan veggie patty you'll get at Red Robin's or Johnny Rockets. The price of $10ish might seem a little steep at first but it is so worth it. Just had a delicious burger from Plum Truck! (Parked at Westlake Center on Wed & Friday) I order the crazy Jamaican burger, it has spicy tofu, tomatoes, sweet plantains, and some other deliciousness. I really enjoyed it! it has a nice kick to it, but it is well balanced with the sweetness of the plantains, and the mayo/ or relish they use has a nice tart finish. YUM! My only criticism is the fries, I ordered the fries, thinking they would be nice n crispy and not as oily as most burger joints, but unfortunately, they were super greasy, soggy and really salty. so, maybe just skip the fries :) good job with the selections PLUM! they have about 6 dishes, from burritos to burgers and smaller bites. read more

My friend and I divided and conquered on the Macho Burrito, Mac n Yease, and Mama Africa Salad. This is some GOOD STUFF!! There was barely a wait, it was super easy to order/check out, and everything was delicious. That burrito is hands down the best burrito I have EVER had! The salad was hearty and they didn't skimp on the avo. And the mac is honestly amazing. $8 was a steep price to pay for the small portion of mac given, but it was definitely delicious and not overly greasy. According to the friend I was with, some of the prices here have increased recently and the truck isn't always reliably present in South Lake Union on Tuesdays as scheduled. On hungry occasion, I've eaten 2 burgers + fries and they were pretty ok, but expect a check costing a kidney (~$20-25). If the price was moderate I'd up this to a 4*. I really love Plum Bistro and have had awesome people bring me food from it and it was great! However, my main complaint about this truck is that it's impossible to locate on Mondays at the Microsoft Redmond location. They provide an address on their website but they never seem to be there. I was craving Plum today so spent 15 minutes searching for them with no luck. It would be nice if they would keep people posted about where they'll be. I'd love to give you my money so you can give me some if your addictive food but, alas, you're nowhere to be found. Also, one of the only times I've found them the girl was pretty rude. Rough day service wise. After my aborted attempt at Than Bros. I decided to try this place. Ordered the portabello burger and Jamaican wrap to go. Since it was pouring out I asked for a rough eta and they said 10 minutes. Went into Chucks for a bit, came back out as I was not buying anything and braved the rain. At 10 minutes my name was called and i was presented with a lentil burger??? I gave my to go order again and was told it would be another 10 minutes waiting in the pouring rain. Food was presented around 7 minutes later, but in baskets, not to go. Wait in pouring rain a bit more. After all that the food was not bad, really liked the wrap. If they would of simply comped some fries or something to make up for their blunders I would probably be writing a 4 star review but nothing was offered, not even an apology. read more

We planned our late-morning around going here and were not disappointed that we did. Food truck was parked in front of Starbucks Center. We ordered the burrito, the lentil burger, the African salad, and the Mac'n'Yease. Everything was amazing, far better than most places attempting to do the same. The Macho Burrito is one of the best you will ever have. So was the Mac'n'Yease. We will be getting these items every time, even if we have to have it for lunch as leftovers the next day...they are that good. The burger was overlooked because the burrito was so damn good but it was delicious as well. When a great salad is our least favorite thing, you know the place is good. Nothing against the salad, it was missing something perhaps, still better than 90% of the places we have eaten. Whenever we have a chance, we will eat here. You should too! read more

Save yourself the time and wait and skip this food truck. Their food is good but the wait is at least 35 minutes or longer to get the food once ordered. It's hard to know that because only couple of people are in line at a time but it takes them infinitely longer to prepare one meal. Also - the quality and consistency is a hit or miss. After waiting in rain for 35 minutes for the food, I got mama Africa salad without the dressing and avocado. Skip this if you are in a hurry. I should have taken a hint that my meal was about to be pretty mediocre by the look of disgust on the employee's face. They were out of what I wanted and the server seemed pretty hard pressed to think of any thing he would recommend. We ordered the jerk burger, the pesto grilled cheese, and the purple haze. If someone drags you to this restaurant (I wouldn't go out of your way to go there), I would go with the grilled cheese as it was the best of the three. I got the Kale Caesar Tempeh Burger and it was amazing! I want to eat that every week! (I wish the truck wasn't going to be leaving Chucks on 85th on Saturdays for August) The bun does fall apart a bit, but messy food is always the best. Reliably delicious food. I've had about half the things on the menu -- they all kind of blend together for me, but they've all been thoroughly enjoyed. Milkshakes are a+. They'll throw in a side of aioli instead of ketchup with the fries if I ask. The sandwiches and burgers are all decked out with great spreads and tasty things like grilled onions. It's a little bit spendy (though definitely the most reasonable piece of plum's empire) and I realized after leaving last week that I was charged for an additional dish that I didn't buy. No response from Plum when I emailed to follow up. However, I went back this week and we were spontaneously gifted an extra mac and yease that they had hangin around (karmic balance?). On the mac and yease front: I get it now. I'm not a fan of mac and cheese generally, so I had planned to live a macnyease-free life despite the raves about Plum's version. However, who says no to free food? And I'm SO glad I did. Somehow it is fluffy. And cheesy. And creamy. Just... decadent. Yum. All told, I'll keep going back. read more

Plum Burgers was parked outside of Chuck's Hop Shop - what a treat! Our group ordered a range of their menu items and everything was a knock out. The panko crusted Portobello sandwich was super flavorful and the Jamaican wrap with the yams in it was a big hit. My 4 year old loved the faux mac and cheese. The only downer was the fries - they were oily and soggy instead of crispy and could have used a bit more salt. I'll skip the fries next time. read more

When I asked the person taking orders to tell me about the Mac and yease he proceeded to tell me, "it's Mac and yease, I don't know what to tell you...I've never tried it." Purchased anyway because I love the brick and mortar plum--despite the rude and poor service at the truck. What I received lacked in quality. Not knowing what was on it (assuming some sort of imitation cheese), I dipped my fork in and watched as oil rose to the top of the container. About half of the container filled with this oil.
