I swear the Bulgogi Fries were screaming my name, though. Yoyo's Hotdog - Yoyo--YO. This thing slaps. I definitely craved a Coke or a beer while eating this because that salt kicks your taste buds' *ss. The caramelized onions paired with the crunchy onions were a double whammy that could topple a few hot dog title holders. The real winner, though, was the sauce--definitely something Asian-inspired. There's no spice from the mayo or hot sauce so if you don't like spice you'll be fine. I also tried their bulgogi fries which came with bulgogi meat, jalepenos, cheese and cilantro. My first reaction was it was delicious but it wouldn't be something I would get again, but after I kept eating it I realized this is actually really good and now when I go back I'll definitely try it again. They don't drown it with juice, so if you like your bordering on the slushy side then get it with extra juice for $.25 no matter what size. They have the standard flavors, with some sour versions as well. There is diet flavors and what they call deluxe flavors, with such things as banana cream pie and strawberry shortcake. The price for those aren't on the menu so I don't know how much extra they cost. No flavors too out there, except for the recently added jalapeno, that comes with a warning that "beware it's made with real jalapenos." Their prices are pretty cheap compared to places in Houston or Galveston, small $1, medium $1.50, large $2 and the quintessential jumbo $2.75. They offer cream, chocolate or ice cream for a little bit extra. They also have smoothies for $3.50. All in all this place is pretty great. The hotter it gets the more packed the parking lot is, and there isn't any defined parking so it can get a little difficult. They season is about April to September every year, but it really seems to be based on how early and how late in the year it stays "summer temps." They usually close when it rains, the best way to know if they are open is when the flags are out!

The taqueria cart / truck scene in Houston is among the city's most ubiquitous food options, which…read moremight be why Taqueria Tacambaro is both popular and overlooked at the same time. Located primarily near the parking lot of the Houston Farmer's Market, they're a solid destination for street side Mexican without the pretension. Tacos isn't the the only barometer, but it's a way to start. Admittedly I'm not a huge fan of the shredded lettuce with tacos (#1) but the meats are almost always the star of the show. I'm pleased to see that they utilize a number of beef cuts from the Houston-centric fajita (#2), asada, and even bistec. The latter was a tad saltier than I would have liked, which was really more of a cecina (salted). I don't have high opinions on the chicken (pollo) and pork (pastor), which I find to be some of the most boring choices on the menu. What Tacambaro really excels at is the rest of the parts: tripa (tripe), lengua (tongue), chicharron (rinds), buche (belly) and mollejas (sweetbreads). The latter was the real surprise and I can see why so many locals would want to come here for it. The mollejas are crispy, delightful, and full of flavor. With their tortillas and a little kick of the salsa, I can see how along with chicharron and lengua can become a specialty place in a hurry. It's not all rosas in this cart. Sometimes they're a bit in a rush and a lot of times the cart isn't actually around during its open hours. While it's supposedly open till 3pm, I've seen it gone just after lunch time. Even when it it is open, some of those choices are sold out in addition to some of the most expensive. Tacos are not the end-all, but I do appreciate their versatility with creating tortas, gorditas, flautas, and quesadillas. It's a cash only business to my knowledge and there are ATMs in the market, as well as places to sit.
