The first time I went here to buy my gear, I had a great time with a knowledgeable salesperson. But when I went back to have my bindings installed, the people behind the counter looked at me crazy. It took over a month to get my board back (this should've taken all of 5 minutes), and when I got my board back, the bindings were all wrong. The last 2 times I walked in there, at least 3-4 workers standing at the front doing nothing would turn to me and give me a crazy look. Customer service took a massive dump. read more

I've been in the market for skis and boots for awhile. So today I finally decided to walk into snow shed. I gotta tell ya this store is phenomenal. It's a family run business and they're the real deal. I got such great customer service with my boot fitting. And the selection is awesome. I ended up buying Lange RX 100 boots. But I tried a few on, every boot was a great fit. The owner, who fitted me knew exactly what boots fit my foot shape. I've worked at ski stop and I was a ski instructor at hunter mountain for a couple years. So I have been to my share of ski shops. I really gotta say that if you live on Long Island especially Suffolk county, snow shed is the place to get your outdoor gear. The deal I got was amazing. I have been coming into the snow shed since I was a 5 years old, and have always rented really nice equipment. I am 20 now and this is the only ski shop I will ever purchase ski gear from or have work on my skis. I'll spare you the details but the owner got back to me (in the Google review) that I was like a "bull in a china shop" surrounded by "thousands of dollars worth of equipment" and that he didn't like my handling of his precious, delicate, super-expensive equipment (he barely has any high end boots, ski selection is mediocre at best). He even had one of his cronies send me a note saying the exact same thing. If you really want the truth - ask either of them if I damaged any equipment or caused him to lose a sale. So let's just say that if you're into being berated for flexing some skis under constant supervision, this is the place for you. If not, go shop somewhere else. read more

Bought 156 burton uninc back in 2007 rode it hard every winter, this year I bought the 154 killroy custom from snowshed. Both experiences were great, the knowledge the people here bring to the table are incredible. So i took my first run in Mt snow with the killroy and loved the board, unfortunately me and another snowboarder hit into eachother, not hard, but enough for the top sheet of the board to peel up. I went back to snowshed the next day and showed them what happened and they immediately took the board, sent it back to Burton and hooked me up with a brand new killroy custom. Beyond grateful to have a place like this in the neighborhood. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to rent/buy snowboard or ski gear. (2 thumbs up) read more

Not a huge snowboarder, but came out to Snow Shed with my buddy on his recommendation to get rental gear before heading to the slopes. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and not pushy as far as buying things I didn't need, which I find is the case at most shops. Answered all my questions, made sure all my needs were met. I happen to have been in the store at the time as a recent negative reviewer and I must say the only person being unprofessional and rude was that person. Very bad experience at Snow Shed in port Jefferson New York route 112 My friend and I consulted with one of the employees of this establishment about a rental. We discussed with the employee that we weren't going to rent that week, yet he insisted that we get sized for our board and boots. We kindly accepted his offering. After he sized us up we thanked that employee and headed for the door. The owner and cashier called us aside to put down a deposit for the gear so it doesn't get rented to someone else, we kindly deny and explain what our plans are. They kept insisting that we put down a deposit "That's what we are supposed to do" ( my friend and I are a size 14 in mens, its very uncommon. It would be amazing if two men of the same foot size rented there in the same week) 5 days later we come back to ask about rental and see the same employee looks at us, looks down and says" we are all out and don't have any more" so I try asking about a smaller size and without looking he says "we have nothing" so we went out to the car. It seemed kind of odd that they wouldn't have any size boot near a 14 or board near what we wanted. I ended up calling someone(friend#2), to call Snow Shed about rentals. my friend and I sat in the car for about 30 min then friend#2 calls back. "They said they have the exact size boots and board you want". I don't know what I did wrong to deserve that type of treatment, I don't know if it was because I didn't put down a deposit on the board, or if its because of the color of my friends skin. I just don't think I anyone deserves that, it ruined our entire trip. read more

The two owners have always treated me like my skis were garbage. I have gone to them periodically for almost 20 years. They have NEVER been pleasant to me, only to the customers looking to spend ALOT of money on their equipment. They both seem miserable. I have tried and tried to be nice to them, but it is always reciprocated with a tongue and cheek attitude. I DO NOT recommend them. read more

I can't thank the folks at the Snow Shed enough for their help in getting set up with my new Hobie Revo 13' kayak. They are an excellent Hobie dealer, although judging by the name you might not know it! Chad and the other staffers were friendly and extremely helpful in explaining the features and setup of the kayak, and they offered complimentary installation of a Thule roof rack on my car (something that had always been a bit of a mystery to me). Chad made a couple recommendations (longer roof rack bars, longer tie straps) that I didn't understand at the time, but I'm so glad I trusted his recommendation! The longer bars make loading and unloading a breeze, and the longer straps let me tie on a second kayak when I want to. The store owner gave me a great price on the kayak, better than anywhere else I could find in several months of searching on Long Island! I cannot recommend this place strongly enough, and I will be back for all my Hobie needs in the future. read more

I bought my board here for a simple tune up, sharpening and waxing. When I picked up my board and got home I realized they completely messed my board up. My board was only 2 years old and used maybe 10 times. Had a couple slight scuff marks on the top but nothing major. When I picked it up the top of the board was completely chewed to the point where I can pick off pieces of the fiberglass. There's also 3 deep scrapes on the top of the board that were not there prior, again to the point where I can pick off pieces of fiberglass. When I called the shop about the issue they played the "you brought it in like that" card. Woman claims its her brother in law who does the tune ups and he would never do damage to anyone's equipment. As is negligence never occurs. Completely unsatisfied with the service I received and they're lack of care when I called them about the issue. I know my board and I know these marks were not there prior to me dropping it off and they could care less to take responsibility for it. I can't even trust them to leave my board there to be tuned up its as if I need to take photos of my board before I bring it so I can prove to them they messed up! Do not go here!!!! Go to any other shop but this one. I will never go here again! So unhappy with their service. Worst ski shop ever!!! read more
