I can always rely on this shop for my snow goods. I ran in here this morning last minute and three people offered to help and i did need help! I was on my way to a skip trip and didn't realize i sold my old goods on ebay and had nothing for my trip. I came here to get my board tuned and fixed. I usually get the Tune II for snowboards service which consists in grinding, wax, fix, and other. The craftmanship is good and once I get my tuning i can feel the difference in the slopes. However, everything else in the store is pricey and not much discounts are offered. Very disappointed! Purchased my board here, have come once before to have my board serviced with great service. This year I decided to use them again so I brought my skis and snowboard. First they were unable to locate my snowboard and skis for 30 minutes (10 to find paperwork, 30 to find ski and snow board and 15 minutes to perform a rush job on my skis). So I was there over a hour just to pick up with NO line. Second they did a terrible job on the actual tuning. Both my ski and snowboard came back to me with rust on the edges and dull, even after the second rush job. In the end I'll be doing the work myself, not sure why I paid for them to hold onto my stuff for 2 weeks? read more

They're getting 3-stars simply bc they are one of a handful of ski/snowboard shops on LI. Straight up, thank you for keeping this store open. That being said, it's not the greatest store in the world. It's passable at best. Do I need a fancy store to by snow goods? No. But besides the snowboard/helmet section, this place feels like a garage. Almost all items (minus a clearance rack strewn with neon items) are at their full MSRP, so plan on spending A LOT. I saw a North Face item I got for $45 online here for $125, full MSRP. Also, good luck finding your size in most items. There are maybe 1-3 items of each style, so it's really a crap shoot to hope they have your size. Although I did see some help around, no one looked twice in my direction until I asked where the fitting room was. Bottom line, if you like to try things on or are in a rush (my case) to hit the mountain, you can get everything you need here... at a price. As much as I want to support the local boys, for my future needs, I'll probably be shopping online for snow gear. My wallet just isn't large enough for constant visits here. read more

Just was in to have my daughters ski bindings adjusted to her new ski boots. Douglas who did the binding check and adjustment to the new boots was friendly, knowledgeable, and awesome all around. He took care of me quickly and had me all set up.. Even threw a coat of wax on her ski's. I will be in with my other ski's shortly to have the binding releases checked to make sure everything is working correctly thanks to Douglas' recommendation. I just need his working hours. LOL. Avoid at all costs! Everything is literally overpriced by double! The snowboard "expert" Jay told me nothing about my snowboard. Just kept saying "yeah, yeah, yeah" trying to rush me out. He also lied to me, telling me I was about to buy a True Twin Snowboard when in fact it was not. I don't know if he lied or is simply uneducated in his department. He didn't seem too bright. Also, when I called the store to ask about the refund policy, the owner, who was an older woman in her 50's, was extremely rude and you can tell she just wants to milk every penny out of inexperienced first timers. I would never give them business again after being treated as a walking dollar bill. P.S. The store has about only 5% of the products that are marketed on their website. I went in looking for 3 snowboards and they had about 10 altogether sitting on the wall. Overpriced, rude, and not helpful at all at finding out information. read more

Staff in the ski section is hit or miss. While waiting for assistance an employee remarked more than once how annoying it was that "people wait until there's snow in the forecast before they buy their skis and need it rushed". It was pretty rude, especially since he's getting paid to help you buy skis. No one shops for winter gear in July, you go when there's a selection or prepare before a holiday weekend when you've made ski plans. Although I haven't utilized them for patio furniture, I am always excited to go there to get new gear for the current year of skiing. The staff is awesome and any comments to the contrary is sour grapes, or someone trying to manipulate the system. They sell ski and snowboard gear. The selection is extensive, and the employees know their merchandise. They provide insightful, educated opinions and I can't be more thankful for them. One of my favorites is Ann, because she reminds me of my sister, and can't do enough to help someone. The rest of the team rocks too. Had two amazing buying experiences at the Plainview, Long Island location this weekend. On Friday 9/29 I went into the store at the start of the sale and was promptly helped by a knowledgeable and wonderful employee named Riley. Bought myself a new set of skis with his help, steering me in the right direction at the budget I set for myself. Returned on Sunday 10/2 with my family for seasonal rentals for my boys and bought another new set up for my wife, including boots. He made sure she tried on two different boots at the same time in order to feel the difference. She left there knowing that she was going to be much more comfortable in one over the other. Typically, people have a tendency to only write about negative experiences and not enough time is spent writing the positive. Walked in like a deer in head lights- completely lost and not even knowing where to start looking for what I came in for. Was greeted by Gaby who was incredibly sweet. Told her I was looking for some snow pants but didn't want to spend too much as I only wear them once a year. She took me over to the clearance rack and went through my options with me. Then after setting me up in the room, she continued to come check on me, even though she was all the way up at the register. When I finally found a pair I liked, she then helped me find some comfy socks too. The store is big, and has tons of stock- but Gaby made it seem not so overwhelming, and even helped me with a smile on. You've got a new customer. Absolutely horrible experience. I waited for 2 solid hours just to rent skis, and there were only about 7 people ahead of me. Renting ski itself took one solid hour (we were a group of 6). I understood this might be due to the fact that there was only one staff working on ski renting and that this time of the year was busy, but this efficiency was unbelievably low. Secondly, the pricing stated at the rental area was different from the pricing stated at the checkout place. I paid an extra $30 for each person than I expected. But I didn't wanna just leave for this extra price because I've already been here for three hours just to rent these skis. This is the most horrible renting experience I've ever had in my life. Definitely not coming again and I'll warn my friends against coming to this place. If I can give a zero or negative star in Yelp, I'll do that. read more

Fantastic store!!! Chris (the store manager) spent the entire morning with my daughter, fitting and molding the shoes for her, and explaining how to adjust them. Chris also told her that the shoes and bindings will be attached to the skies on a short notice, to help my daughter get ready to her skiing trip in 2 days (it normally takes up to a week). Don't listen to Jeffrey's review below. The bootfitters did him a favor by not rushing to fit him in 45 minutes. If you're coming for new boots and want the right fit and the perfect boot, be prepared to spend a good 2 hours here trying on boots and walking around. I cannot say enough great things about my experience. I used to come here as a kid when it was ski stop and stopped in on my way back up to Boston. I was greeted by Fred, who asked me all the questions he needed before bringing out several pairs of boots. He was patient, answered all of my 500,000 questions and was incredibly polite! I'm really new to skiing so I was a little apprehensive about the fit (ski boots aren't your favorite pair of Nikes after all) and whether they'd be too tight, but when I finally got out on the mountain I couldn't believe the amount of control I had in my new boots!! If Fred didn't take the time to make adjustments, bring variations of boot lasts for me to try, I wouldn't have gotten into the right boot. I can't speak to other bootfitters but if I were going- I'd be sure to ask for Fred! He gave me 100% of his attention and didn't leave me until we were ready to walk out with my new boots! He was AWESOME! The service here was GREAT!! Everyone is super helpful and patient. They don't push the product but offer their assistance when needed. You can tell everyone is very knowledgeable and looking to make sure you have a great time in the mountain! 5 stars for me!! Went in there to purchase new ski boots. Arrived at 8:15 when they close at 9:00. The staff told me they couldn't help me as it would take too long and they close at 9:00. After leaving I called the manager to ask about this and she agreed that they wouldn't assist since it was too late. With the brusque way I was treated, I was seemingly an interruption of their day.
