I honestly haven't been here since June of 2014 due to a horrible experience here. I had my rehearsal dinner here for my wedding. We spent hours waiting for our food and asked the waitress if the chef could hurry it up because we had a bachelor party to go to. He came out yelling about at us saying he had a schedule which he never sent to us. It was a mess so I said I would never come back here. Then I heard recently they have whole new chef and crew here so I thought I would come back. The place Anytime you have a place on Keuka you are going to have great views. They had a covered deck, a non covered deck ( who is in really rough shape), tables down right next to the water, and of course inside the restaurant. We set under the covered deck which is was really nice. It was decent size since we had a party of 14! The only minus was they need to light some candles or torches to keep away the bugs. They started to get bad later into our meal. All in all the place is pretty nice. The food I was so impressed I ordered a salad with goat Cheese, Roasted beets, crumbled chevre, toasted pecans, field greens, champagne vinaigrette. Everything was so fresh and tasted great. I loved how light the dressing was yet had great flavor I really wanted to lick the plate but refrained. I went with the burger of the day which had the chef's special bbq rum sauce. Most placed a burger is burger not here this thing was amazing!!! Everything on the burger tasted great but the sauce was key. I used the sauce on my fries that came with it because it was so good! My only complaint was very few fries came with it. My sister had the veggie burger which had white beans, roasted red peppers, herbs with citrus aioli, fried jalapenos, smoked cheddar. Said and a few others who tried it loved it. The only meal 2 people didnt really care for was the fried chicken they said it was dry but I didnt try it. The staff Our waiter was great I dont remember his name but he was very kind and attentive. He left us some pitchers of water which was a big help so we didn't have to wait. He even helped big time with my sister because her daughter is allergenic to almost everything! He made a few trips to talk with the chef to accommodate her. The verdict I was impressed after having one of the worst experiences here I have ever had at a place I was leary of coming back. It was worth it. I cant wait to come back and try things. I will say to warn people the place is a little pricey but my food was good My burger and fries was 16 bucks. Kudas to the new crew here I will be back! read more

Located right outside Hammondsport, this is a pretty old-school place with dated decor and simple patio with a drive-up dock for your boat. (There is a separate boat menu which I haven't tried.) Overflow parking across the street is very helpful for busy nights. Per the beverages: The wine list has local wines so browse carefully for your favorites. If you order wine that needs to be served chilled they will put it in a bucket with ice directly on your table. You have to keep refilling your own glasses though since they will forget about it. My mother had a Bloody Mary which she said was excellent (it came with almost a whole stalk of celery in it and huge olives!) Pleasantly surprised with good beer selection including Heineken. Per the food: Awesome app of pizza we shared with the table. Simply delicious with a thinner crust and plentiful toppings. YUM! I had the swordfish which was slightly overdone (not pink enough inside for me) but outstanding with fresh veggies and a weird green topping that I think was more for presentation than flavor. It was very good! My parents had the special which was fillet and tiny potatoes. The potatoes were way overdone and resembled shriveled little raisins but they said the fillet was fine. My sister and boyfriend both got the salmon dish which they said was excellent. Their only remark was that the serving size of the salmon varied greatly between them - the larger being given to the boyfriend. Sis was a little miffed. Per the service: SLOW AS MOLASSES, My father had steam coming out of his ears and probably didn't tip the waitress because he was so mad. It took a half an hour to even get the drinks and then another ten minutes for the waitress to come back to even take our order. She said there was a large party upstairs - but hey, I am not super sympathetic. My sister got up to complain to the manager and for some reason instead of getting faster service we got our water glasses filled up every five minutes by the water girl. Sigh..... I didn't see the bill to know if anything was comped to make up for the bad service so I cant comment on that. I am thinking not likely. I would go here again for the food and pretty view but only if I have two and a half hours to spare for dinner. read more

Very cute. Perfect for a casual dinner and a cocktail or two on a lazy, breezy day. A nice smattering of tables right on the dock, and another tier of outside tables in the upstairs deck (also overlooking the lake)...both in the shade and not. We sat in the upstairs deck. Quite lovely. There are indeed large bees that are interested in hovering over you, but there weren't any stinging incidents. You can dock your boat right at the restaurant, if you want. I want a boat! Small menu, but that's a good thing, right? Why overextend? Husband's steak overcooked the first go-round, but it was cheerily taken back and refired. My osso bucco was fine. Ay Dios Mio! No wonder it's called "Snug Harbor", you should just snuggle up with whomever you are with because you are going to be here a while. OMG, the worst service I've experienced in quite some time. Thank God the food was decent/good. We get there and were seated right away as there really wasn't a large crowd there. We sat down and after 3-4 attempts at sampling a wine before buying a bottle (which never happened) we finally put in our drink order. Not exaggerating here, it literally took 20-25 minutes before we got our drinks. Four alcoholic beverages and only one (1) was a mixed drink so that generally left me with a WTF mental state from that point on. At the time the waitress took our drink order she also took our order for the appetizer and when it arrived she nearly walked away but thankfully I grabbed her attention letting her know that we were actually ready to go ahead and order our main entree's as to avoid a 'three hour tour' (I know you hear the theme to Gilligan's Island) :)..... So with all the bad news out of the way I'll admit the food was actually pretty good, the grilled salmon dish I had was 'ok', I was more impressed with my girlfriends swordfish plate quite honestly. The flat bread pizza appetizer was very good though. Light with fresh ingredients. And last but not least I have to admit I love the location of this restaurant. Located right off the shore of the lake if would be a perfect spot for a romantic dinner given they can figure out the kinks on the service side of the house. All in all, I heard they were recently going through management changes and I know with that there are sometimes some hurdles to get through so I would probably give this place another shot. read more

Still trying to process what happened Sunday night. I had a reservation for 4 on the porch at 6:30 and our table wasn't ready, but no problem the restaurant has a chef from Rochester for the summer and we were looking forward to an excellent meal. We had drinks in the bar and waited after checking twice myself and my friend checked twice, they told us our table was getting prepared. It is now 5 minutes later 7:20 and I ask the waitress what was happening now and she told us someone had given away our table. I was upset but with some back and forth I said we would take an inside table as my friend needed to drive back to Rochester. I told her that they needed to make it right with some drinks or appetizers and she got upset, I told her to get a manager and the manager was confrontational and suggested we go elsewhere. Not one person dealing with us apologized or suggested anything to make us comfortable and want to stay for dinner. We left and two of us had a lovely meal at Pleasant Valley Inn and the other two drove home to Rochester hungry and upset. This could have been so easily solved by someone with experience but instead they lost a four top in an almost empty restaurant that would have spent $300. Just finished having lunch with my mom and fiancé. Extremely slow service for 2 burgers and some fries when there were less than 10 tables filled. It took an hour and 20 minutes during lunch hour for our meal, with a long wait between everything-ordering drinks, food, and getting the bill. The burgers were oversold and overcooked, even after we specified that we'd like them slightly pink in the middle. The 'Brush Your Teeth' did have some nice Gorgonzola and a rich flavor, but I honestly couldn't taste anything else or remember what was on it. My fiancé had the 'Triple B' and was surprised at how salty and overwhelming the bacon was-and he LOVES bacon! The burgers were both charred, which some people like-my mother loves that. The burgers include 'crudités' (a carrot strip, a celery stick, and a cherry tomato with a spoonful of tasty dip) and a small handful of tri-color tortilla chips. Fries are extra, but they were perfect. In short: okay lunch food, extremely slow service, friendly waitstaff. read more

This is a quaint little restaurant with a lot of polish. Our waitress was very good. She took orders and service seemed to be going well. Took an exorbitant amount of time for our apps...but well worth the wait. There was five of us...we all tried something different. Two specials: a catfish and a seafood cake (scallops, shrimp, and crab) others had the duck and langastine pens pasta. Food was very good. The chef came out and is going to cook some specials for us tomorrow...so yes we are going back. Dessert...grand mariner creme brule. It can get busy but the food makes up for the wait. read more

Had Easter dinner with my family at Snug Harbor and the experience was great from start to finish. The dry red wine was on point with my rigatoni. My wife had the ribs which were also very tasty. Exceptional service, we had a 20 month old and they were very patient and accommodating. There is so much charm here. It probably depends on if you go in season or out of season. We have been twice, the 1st week in October and the last weekend in September and the services was absolutely horrible.The previous visit we had lunch around 2 -2:30 and there was no one in the place.The food was good but we waited for an hour for our food. This past time, the place was busy but wasn't that full and we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The waitress took our drink orders and appetizer orders and once she brought us our appetizers proceeded to take the menus away until we asked if we could order dinner. When we ordered dinner, we asked for mustard, we asked three times and finally received it after our dinner was done. Our dinners were lukewarm and nothing had any taste at best when they arrived at the table. Our friend had a steak and he said it was eh. How do you kill a steak. The dinner took over 2 hours. Meanwhile, the hostesses who appear to be the owners were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, busing tables and looking for lost customers. Whoever assigned the tables to the waitresses obviously didn't think about efficiency. Our waitress was assigned tables on one side of the inside of the building and on the other side of the building on the outside. The other waitress had tables on the same side on the inside of the building so they were constantly running into each other. They need to call Gordon Ramsey. read more

This is the WORST restaurant I have ever been to. I am not sure if the other reviewers have ever tasted good food?! I love food and I do not consider myself picky but everything from the service to the food quality was awful (and not cheap at all). The soup tasted like Campbells or worse. My scallops were raw and my husband's steak was purple (he ordered it medium) and we don't even mind medium rare but it was practically breathing. So gross. Server was not friendly. Bartender was creepy. Try Geneva on the Lake or Verasions at Glenora. Just DO NOT go here. Yuck. read more

Had a wonderful time at this little gem on the lake. Arrived at our hotel late afternoon and started the web search for a restaurant for dinner. Was dismayed with what I found close by so I widened the search. The menu looked promising and it was right on the lake. BINGO! We were not disappointed. Started with a local Pinot Grigio which was delightful. Appetizers were Crab Louis and Tuna Tartare Tacos. The presentation of both were beautiful and the food was amazing. Next we had Veal Osso Bucco Bianca and Jumbo Shrimp with Asparagus and Sugar Snap peas over linguini in a garlic bitter sauce. The Osso buco was incredible. Loved the lighter preparation for the summer months. The shrimp was buttery and fresh. The bread was served with a honey pepper butter which was sinfully delicious. We finished by sharing a Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee It was all that it should be and more. Rich Vanilla flavor topped with fresh berries. Yum! The service was friendly, courteous and prompt. Our server was very knowledgable and helpful. This establishment is under new management. Although I had not been here prior to reneder a comparison, the new manager, Josh, was friendly, open to comments, and full of good ideas for the future. OMG, forgot to mention the ambiance and location. The restaurant is quite cozy and comfortably decorated. Not pretentious. There is indoor or outdoor seating. The outdoor seating overlooks the lake with a border of mountains. I highly recommend sitting outside. Overall this was a great evening and a wonderful start to our Finger lakes Vacation. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great, relaxing evening of fine food and wine. read more

This is a wonderfully delightful retreat. Stopped for lunch. Sat at the bar..great beer, wine and drink selections. On bartender's recommendation ordered French Dip sandwich with side of Mac and cheese. Wow!!! Great favors. Tender meat with tangy horseradish sauce. Mac and cheese perfect combo of cheeses and herbs. Beautiful setting ..reminds me of hotels in New Orleans with their multiple Balconies. Gorgeous location, spectacular view, but the review is about the food specifically, you know about the view and location already, that is half the reason a restaurant is patronized. in a lakeside community. Sunday brunch, offered main menu and the brunch specials menu, all is well. Ordered off the specials menu, the "chefs selection omelet" for $12. Was told, a 3 cheese omelet, ok. I inquired about a breakfast meat side. was told immediately, NO not available. Ok, my assumption at that point I would be getting a full plate of food to offset the no meat availability. My wife ordered also off the brunch special menu, the chef special panini, featuring bacon, so we knew it was at least in house and available. Food arrives, panini as advertised, texas toast size panini sandwich..$11 and a full meal. My plate arrives, and in front of me is a gooey 2 egg and cheese omelet on plate. Granted as advertised, but no toast, not even an offer for a bread, no meat option as discussed earlier, and the kicker is I had less food on plate for more money than my wife. Don't get me wrong, this is not a money issue per se, but when you are out for brunch and order an egg dish of any sort, there is always a toast, or bread offering, especially at a $12 price point, and possibly a breakfast potato also, but at one of the more expensive items on the menu not here. Bottom line is the food is acceptable, service is admirable, view is spectacular, but the cost compared to the served plate of food is sub standard, which outweighs the rest of the culinary experience, in my opinion. read more

Went to Snug on August 5th. We had a great time at the bar, great bartender ~ great drinks and conversation with him. Wish we didn't have to leave but, we had to. I am not someone who writes reviews EVER !!!! But...we invited some friends there today Saturday. BAD service!! Our female waitress came over & we ordered 2 Tangueray & Tonic......waitress came back and said we don't have Sangria. We said no.... Tangueray & Tonic. Before she came back our 2 friends arrived & a male waiter came to our table. He asked what do you want? They ordered a Tangueray & club soda and a Canadian Club & water. The female waitress came back with 4 Tangueray & club soda....they did not taste like they had gin in them! 2 of us picked up our drinks & went to the bar. Snug does not have CC. The Bartender started to fix our drinks...she said sorry it must have been a miscommunication! She poured 4 shots of gin (not to the top mind you). She pushed tonic for 2 and asked tonic or club soda?? We said club soda & seven up for the other. We decided NOT to eat there with the luck we were having!!! We asked for our bill. They should have competed at least 1 drink. She brought the bill with no pen! Hope the other Bartender works on week-ends or we won't be there! read more
