Gorgeous location, spectacular view, but the review is about the food specifically, you know about the view and location already, that is half the reason a restaurant is patronized. in a lakeside community. Sunday brunch, offered main menu and the brunch specials menu, all is well. Ordered off the specials menu, the "chefs selection omelet" for $12. Was told, a 3 cheese omelet, ok. I inquired about a breakfast meat side. was told immediately, NO not available. Ok, my assumption at that point I would be getting a full plate of food to offset the no meat availability. My wife ordered also off the brunch special menu, the chef special panini, featuring bacon, so we knew it was at least in house and available. Food arrives, panini as advertised, texas toast size panini sandwich..$11 and a full meal. My plate arrives, and in front of me is a gooey 2 egg and cheese omelet on plate. Granted as advertised, but no toast, not even an offer for a bread, no meat option as discussed earlier, and the kicker is I had less food on plate for more money than my wife. Don't get me wrong, this is not a money issue per se, but when you are out for brunch and order an egg dish of any sort, there is always a toast, or bread offering, especially at a $12 price point, and possibly a breakfast potato also, but at one of the more expensive items on the menu not here. Bottom line is the food is acceptable, service is admirable, view is spectacular, but the cost compared to the served plate of food is sub standard, which outweighs the rest of the culinary experience, in my opinion. read more

Went to Snug on August 5th. We had a great time at the bar, great bartender ~ great drinks and conversation with him. Wish we didn't have to leave but, we had to. I am not someone who writes reviews EVER !!!! But...we invited some friends there today Saturday. BAD service!! Our female waitress came over & we ordered 2 Tangueray & Tonic......waitress came back and said we don't have Sangria. We said no.... Tangueray & Tonic. Before she came back our 2 friends arrived & a male waiter came to our table. He asked what do you want? They ordered a Tangueray & club soda and a Canadian Club & water. The female waitress came back with 4 Tangueray & club soda....they did not taste like they had gin in them! 2 of us picked up our drinks & went to the bar. Snug does not have CC. The Bartender started to fix our drinks...she said sorry it must have been a miscommunication! She poured 4 shots of gin (not to the top mind you). She pushed tonic for 2 and asked tonic or club soda?? We said club soda & seven up for the other. We decided NOT to eat there with the luck we were having!!! We asked for our bill. They should have competed at least 1 drink. She brought the bill with no pen! Hope the other Bartender works on week-ends or we won't be there! read more

The chef is terrific! You can get to this lakeside paradise by car or boat. There is indoor seating if the weather is prohibitive, but you should sit outside if you can because the scene is food for the eyes, the sounds are nature are food for the ears, the mountain air is food for the olfactory, and when combined with the creative, well presented dishes from the kitchen, served by a friendly and knowledgeable wait staff, you have a symphony! Try the local wines. Hats off to Manager, Josh for his vision. Compliments to Chef Cohen. This is a must for all "foodies" and diners looking for a romantic evening of fine food and wine! read more

Went on our nearly annual trip to the Finger Lakes. Return visit to this restaurant. If you are looking for the essence of Keuka sceery to enjoy your meal, this certainly can't be beat. It's fun to go after touring local wineries and be able to order some of the same with your dinner. All reasonably priced. The food was outstanding. Crab Louis for an appetizer, grilled salmon and a terrific fontina/artichoke/spinach lasagna. The crab cake was just ok - but on balance outstanding. Also want to compliment the manager and waitress. Although there was a small delay in our order, they caught it without my brining it to their attention and were empowered to do the small things that caused our overall experience to exceed our expectations. It's not often something like that occurs. Certainly plan to return. read more

I recommend the grilled chicken sandwich with the caramelized onions, bacon and cheese. It was delicious. We also enjoyed their fries and onion rings. My son got grilled cheese and didn't have any complaints. My husband's burger however was very dry. The real downside for this restaurant however is the amount of time it takes for them to seat and serve customers. For the server vs. customer ratio (which was totally manageable) the service leaves much to be desired. read more

The service was fine. Hamburger good. No bread....at least make it optional. Appetizer fine. Chicken and waffles came with a very small child sized piece of chicken back and 3 small pieces of waffle. Seafood risotto was best described as weak...one strip of chicken, 2 mussels, 2 shrimp, 1 small piece of chorizo and fish, Luke warm risotto. This place had two fires and is not open. Too bad, used to be a great restaurant, but I doubt it will ever open again as I see no repairs since the last fire. I wish someone would buy the building, do the proper repairs, and open a nice restaurant again. read more

So sorry that i made the wrong choice for my birthday dinner! What an expensive and disappointing experience! After saying hello our server promptly began reciting a list of "we don't have...we don't have...we don't have...". We ordered wine, soup and salad and our meal and then after waiting a bit the server came back to tell us that they did t have a full bottle of some other wine to sell us...and we reminded her that was not what we ordered, so a bit later we got our drinks. No bread was served so I'm not sure why there were bread plates. Then we waited and waited until our salad, soup and meals arrived all at the same time. One problem though, they brought me chicken dish when I had ordered the Delmonico steak special. I decided to skip my dinner and ate a bit of my sisters steak. My husbands potatoes were cold and the sauce that we paid extra for was lukewarm. The onion soup had a strong oregano flavor. While mistakes can happen this was start to finish a very disappointing and expensive experience and at no time did a manager make any attempt to apologize or accommodate us in some way. Had dinner tonight with reservations that I was 10 minutes late for. Hostess said problem but have a drink at the bar and that would give the kitchen time to catch up. Had 4 people served at the bar with the bartender having major problems with lack of supplies, etc. I felt as if he was drunk trying to serve us. We sat outside st our table and couldn't get drinks, our order of food took excessive amounts of time to get, and we finally got served by multiple people in the dark. We were disappointed in this place yet again. Have tried it a few times over the years and have never been impressed. The food was alright, special was just bowl of Mussels. Fried Risotto was fair. It took over 2 hours to get our dinner as the waitress was overwhelmed. She told us another server had called in. As Lake food goes, it was expensive and underwhelming. Everyone wants to see Snug Harbor open in business and succeed. Everyone wants to go there and have good lunch or dinner. NO DOUBT ! Unfortunately, this is not going to cut it. Seriously boring menu. And how dare they say they smoke the Ribs for 8 hours. I am an Expert when it comes to making and eating Ribs, I can say with 100% accuracy that these Ribs didn't see smoke for 5 minutes. Efforts of hiding the results in some seriously bad Bque sauce will not work. How can they claim this "8-hours" in print. I almost wanted to ask to see the smoker / pit what ever they claim is being used. We were table of 6 and some kids. None of us had anything interesting front of us. Kids chicken tenders were burnt to crisp, literally black. Male waitress was ultra nice, almost too much so. This is really a sad review because this place has some serious history and we all in the area need to see them open and succeed, but, unfortunately, as it is ...... it's just not going to work out, I'm sorry. best thing you can do is please fix your menu and get serious about it. About Ribs .... it is really not that difficult to actually commit to actually smoking them, if not, you need to change the language in the menu. And, yes, I see lot of comment on slow service. I have to agree. There was only 3 tables in the room, us being one of them. It took forever to get even the first drinks. One of the tables left before they even ordered because of lack of attention ...... I don't know .... just doesn't give me any reasons to go again until I hear something positive through the grapevines. read more

The view of the lake is fabulous. We stopped in for lunch. The sandwiches were pricey but delicious .our three some ordered the Cuban and and the panni with ham fig jam and goat cheese. They were all good. There is a wine selection which we did not partake of but the ice tea was brewed and fresh. We will return for another visit. You can arrive by boat or car. Our family has a lake house on Keuka so we spend a lot of time there every summer. Keuka has many great qualities but one thing that the area lacks is dining options. Fortunately, now that Snug Harbor is under new management, that has changed! We recently had dinner there to celebrate my mother in law's birthday. We had dined at Revelry in Rochester before, which is owned by the same people, and really enjoyed it, so our expectations were high. Snug Harbor did not disappoint! Mark took great care of us -- as did the entire staff. The food is a riff on classic American fare. Great for drinks/appetizers, lunch or a full dinner. The ambiance is cozy inside and has great views. We sat on the terrace, which was lovely. All of our meals were delicious - highly recommend the chicken cutlet. Great drink options as well - I loved that all the wines were from the finger lakes, and the cocktails were yummy. Will definitely return on our next trip to Keuka. read more

We stopped for quick brunch . The service was fine,but the brunch menu needs a tuneup. The chef must be striving for a different flair. The selection was extremely limited and what we tried was slightly off key. Love the place and having been going there for forty years. Good, Very Good!!! A surprise stopped while visiting wine country and tried it on a recommendation. Well worth it just outside village of Hammondsport on 54A. Indeed a snug harbor. Down the drive to lakeside and into wood paneling, warm fire and fine service. Food was much more than we expected, lots of locals, indeed upscale. Only shortfall, deserts a little off. It's hard to deny that Snug Harbor's location and decor give the place and enjoyable atmosphere. However, that small positive is not enough to make up for the incredibly slow service and overpriced food. It took twenty minutes for us to even be approached at our table, and when we each order a crock of soup and a salad, it was over an hour later that it finally wound up at our table. Nice lazy summer afternoon. Wanted something to eat before the wineries. We saw that Snug Harbor had recently reopened. Place is clean and freshly painted. Got a great table outside. Ordered fish sandwich. Swai, a whitefish like haddock. Arrived cooked perfectly, hot and crispy. Homemade tartar sauce had capers and a little heat. A nice touch. My boyfriend and I were Hammondsport for a night this past weekend and chose to eat here for dinner. We never experienced the old Snug Harbor, but the new Snug Harbor is a huge step up based on previous reviews. We ordered the pork belly and duck as our entrees and both were fantastic. In fact dinner was so tasty we came back Sunday morning for brunch, which was even better! We ordered the chicken and waffles and the shrimp and grits and since the weather was better we were able to sit out on their incredible deck. The wait staff was very friendly as were the new owners. They only recently took over so I think there are still a few kinks to work out, but the hospitality, tasty food and incredible views make Snug Harbor a must for anyone visiting the area. We are looking forward to coming back! read more

Visited Snug a week ago on a Saturday night expecting a crowded restaurant. Had reservations, but certainly didn't need them. Even had plenty of parking since very few people there. Ordered clams casino, salad and prime rib. No bread and didn't see the server from taking the order until bringing dinner. Everything came at once, appetizer, salad and prime rib. Couldn't eat the salad because I didn't want the rime rib to get cold. Clams casino, must be the chef forgot to put the clams in, but lots of bread crumbs. Prime rib had plenty of fat. I realize that they are just recently reopened. But we really miss Jeff & Kathy Bates and their friendly staff and great meals (prime rib to die for, remember The Knotty Pine). We arrived looking to enjoy a Friday afternoon, we were seated on the water with a nice view. We were quickly bothered by the fact that we were now smelling gas fumes from the power washer as we had to listen to them power wash the docks. We also got wet from the power washer mist. Soon after the wind had a quick one strong gust and the umbrella lifted out table crushing myself and leaving my friend to hold it down while we tried to keep the drinks from spilling on us. The young man power washing finally came to our rescue and removed the umbrella. The wait staff was very rude. read more

What a beautiful place! The decor -and the view- were absolutely gorgeous. You just can't beat being right on Keuka lake. They were great about taking our reservation, and I'm glad we made it because it was quite busy on a Saturday. The service was friendly but rather slow. Highly recommend the seitan wings, which was a vegetarian appetizer that I was excited to see on the menu. They cater well to vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free lifestyles. The prices were too high to make it a place that we would go to often. $26 for risotto! read more
