Cozy restaurant in Hammondsport. Very nicely decorated, felt rustic and comfortable. Our table of 6 had a nice long table with booth and chairs, with plenty of space. Parking is sparse, street parking was convenient on a Sunday though. We stopped for lunch - they had a small menu compared to what was listed online. We settled on some burgers, and the shrimp sandwich. Everything was very good, well cooked burgers, with toppings and crispy fries. Sodas were refreshing and our waitress was friendly. Our recent visit was lackluster. My friend's salad special had large chunks of lettuce stalks and very large pieces of lettuce. They joked- can I request they chop it up? My French onion soup was not warm and the melted cheese was solidified. We tried to move forward except for our blonde server girl- obviously not wanting to be there and bordering on rude ( even though we were her only customers at the time). Example- my friend asked for a side plate to help cut up the large salad piece- delivered after 10 minutes wait...banged on the tabletop. I didn't dare mention my soup was cold! Stopped here on a Sunday right at open at 11:30. Ordered the French onion soup to start and share. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. Ordered a Diet Pepsi which hit the spot. As my entree I went with the salmon BLT which I was leery of but said hell with it and pulled the trigger. Wasn't bad - but not really a salmon cake. More of a salmon breaded plank. Visiting Hammondsport NY on a Monday can be tough since most places are closed. Thankfully, Timber Stone stays open, and it offers a great atmosphere. There's indoor & outdoor seating available decorated in warm rustic touches. Sadly there seemed to be 1 person running the bar & waiting most the tables which seemed to stretch her a bit too thin. The food was a bit lackluster starting with the tacos which didn't have much time put into them. The tortillas were a bit hard & lacked fillings, especially the shrimp taco. Moderation is key with sun-dried tomatoes, so they don't overwhelm. OMG, the dish was served with more sun-dried tomatoes than I've consumed altogether in my life. I unloaded about a third onto my companion's skillet ricotta pasta, making them the two most sun-dried-tomato-intensive dishes of all time. Holy crow, I don't know what they were thinking. read more

We visited Timberstone while vacationing at a Verbo by the lake. Located right in the village of Hammondsport near shopping and the town square that hosts numerous festivals throughout the summer. Very cool atmosphere both inside and on the patio. The staff was wonderful... but... The food that two of us ordered (pulled pork flatbread) was inedible. The flatbread was burned and the pulled pork had the texture of jerky... Was happy that there wasn't much of it, not that I ate it anyway. The manager comped those meals and we ended up cooking out at home. We may give them another try when in the area... Some of the other dishes that went by looked really good. It has been several years since I have eaten here. Today it was lunch with some colleagues to discuss fund raising strategies for a local museum. Our server was quite attentive and gave us space to both talk and eat. Their lunch menu is not extensive, and coincidentally, we all ordered the soup and sandwich which comes with either fries or a side salad. Most of us ordered the salad which was quite good. The tomato bisque was thick with some vegetable garnishes. The grilled cheese was quite good even if a little greasy. Only one other table was occupied while we were there. So very quiet. We also split the Thai chili shrimp app. The panko breading was light & crisp! As for me - I got the grain bowl w sesame tofu. Sounds meh but it was packed with flavor! Based on the previous ratings, I really thought the food would be of the highest quality. I ordered the ahi tuna. It was tough and tasteless. The brownie dessert was quite good. My wife had a seafood stew, the mussels and fish we were good, however the shrimp was tough. Service: the hostess who greeted and sat us was a bit rude. We had reservations. The place was not crowded and so asked to be seated by a window. Giving us no explanation she gestured to the two tables in the back row. Without asking us, she plunked down the menus on one of the two tables we did not want. We moved to the other table. This clouded the evening. However, the person that did wait on us was quite friendly and the service was good. All in all I thought the restaurant could do better in the quality of its offerings, especially given the price. read more

We came here as the yelp reviews were good and we wanted to try someplace new. That said, the burger was slimy and yet overcooked (see pictures, this was ordered "medium-rare"), the first pizza ordered "fell apart" in the oven so we waited for the second which was burnt on the bottom and soggy on top. The bruschetta chicken had no flavor and tasted like cheap, saline injected chicken. The waitress was acceptable at best (she was okay until we assume she could tell we were unhappy, and then she became rude- of note, we never complained to staff). One in our party went inside where the hostess is located, she greeted and seated us immediately outside on their lovely patio. We visited during an unusually warm spell in mid April and what a treat to dine Al fresco! Our waitress had several outside tables to move between, which often creates more work because serving included stairs and having to in and to retrieve food and guest requests., but our waitress did this with ease and never seemed flustered. We ordered the Poutine and fries appetizer and the cranberry pecan flatbread, two house salads, French onion soup, and one order the chicken sandwich. Each item was served on different shaped dishes that added appropriate aesthetic elements to the dish served. The poutine was topped with cheese curds that hadn't been breaded (I've had both) and a brown gravy that light in color. At first taste I wasn't sure how I felt about the gravy, but for most things I have a three bite tasting rule. By the 3rd bite I was hooked! The French onion soup was perfect temperature and flavorful without being too salt. The flatbread had layers of flavors and textures that worked well together! Waiting extra time for my meal put a slight damper on our experience. The 3 grilled cheese sandwich and tomato red pepper bisque hit the spot for my husband, that is his ideal comfort food. I thoroughly enjoyed the New England pot roast skillet, with the hearty brown gravy, vegetables and tender pieces of beef. The peanut butter pie we shared for dessert was good. The mousse was creamy and not too sweet. I would have preferred that the artificial whip and chocolate sauce drizzle be left off, since it didn't add to the dessert. Stopped here on a Saturday night while in the area. We were seated after a few minutes waiting by the door, awkwardly. My fiance ordered an Octoberfest beer and when it was brought over it was the Ithaca Flower Power IPA and didn't have that dark amber color that the other diners had with their Octoberfest beer. He didn't complain though, and drank it. I ordered the salmon cake BLT on a gluten free bun with a side salad. It was good. I enjoyed my meal. My fiance ordered the pork mac and cheese and he didn't enjoy it, but didn't tell anyone about it either. Both the waitress commented on how it was her favorite and the best dish on the menu. The other employee who brought the dish over also said the same thing. The dish was watery and not the consistency of mac and cheese that you would think would occur in a restaurant. It was not comfort food. It was more like, they wanted to conserve as much cheese as possible and decided to add a lot of water to it. Will we be back? We pulled up exhausted after a day out and about at wineries. I walked in 10 minutes before and the bartender said it's coming up and asked if I wanted a drink. I ordered a Stella while waiting. I told my wife he said few mins and getting a drink. Then 15 minutes goes by and he said I'm sorry they never put the order in. He said it will be up soon, order something on me, so I got another beer and told my wife. She came in and he said to her that he effed up, got busy and never put the order in. Amazing place to get a burger as my burger was cooked to perfection for a medium rare gal! I couldn't wish anything more but the burger they gave me! My party got the beyond burger and was equally as satisfied and we were so full after this burger and fries combo I was super happy about my meal. The fries are not oily- and super fat! I would recommend this to people staying in Hammondsport! Kudos to them for opening on Memorial Day when lots of other restaurants closed. The only thing that wasn't up to speed was my waitress's attitude towards another coworker of hers and it left a bad taste to start when I walked in. read more

We visited the Hammondsport area for a classic boat show and when lunchtime arrived we decided thought we would give Timber Stone Grill a try. Our lunch was very good and the wait staff was great also. As luck would have it the boat show awards dinner was also catered by Timber Stone and the Food was excellent!! The wait staff was on top of their game! Very attentive and obviously had done this many times! Our only regret is that Timber Stone is 10 hours from our home. We definitely be going back to Timber Stone the next time we're back in the area. read more

The tasting was amazing and that's when we knew for sure we needed to have them at our wedding. Ya know how some times you pay a bunch of money and don't get a ton of food? Not here. You get so much food for a decent price. We are in an air BnB a few minutes from this joint. Seriously did not expect to find a place this delicious so close to cemetery road. We really lucked out. Every dish looked like it came out of a catalog. My wife got the short rib Mac and cheese and let me try some. It was so good! She couldn't even eat 1/4 of it. I got the salmon BLT. It was more of a salmon burger but one of the best I've had. My mother got some vegetable tofu thing that she was really pleased with. Her husband got the salmon on birch with garlic mashed potatoes. He also seemed to throughly enjoy it. I got a special finger lakes root beer that was awesome. It's sad because the place we stayed sucks. So I don't think we will be on this side of the lake ever again. It's in a cute little town but the town looks really small. Not much to explore. Also my wife forgot her purse and they called us right away to let us know. Ya know if you leave your shit in a Philly bar not only would they raid the contents, they'd probably cook and eat the exterior. After one amazing experience and one meh one, we decided to give Timber Stone a third try and they knocked it out of the park! I'm going to chalk the meh experience up to us going during COVID times. They really have straightened things out and delivered a wonderful experience. My fiancée started off with a Manhattan and I grabbed a margarita. For food, we ordered the spicy shrimp and a French onion soup as appetizers and for mains, my fiancée had the Bistro Tenderloin and I grabbed their steak and scallop special of the n. The drinks were classic and delicious. We fell in love with the spicy shrimp. It was perfectly breaded with panko, not to heavy, not too light and the sauce was fantastically balanced between flavorful and spicy. The French onion soup was also amazing. It was a thinner soup, which I appreciated, but it wasn't lacking in flavor in any way. The only issue was that I wanted more because it was so good. My fiancée's tenderloin was expertly cooked to rare. It was both savory from the seasonings and meat and sweet from the bourbon glaze, which normally she hates but it was so good it turned her into a believer. My steak was slightly undercooked but within an acceptable range for medium rare. The flavors were exceptional but the scallops blew me away. They cut like butter and tasted like heaven. Decided to try it out when we were visiting Hammondsport for the day. It was about 4pm, so we were able to get a table outside in the tent. Our order was taken quickly and food came out fine. But then there was no follow up. My son needed a water refill, bye we couldn't get anyones attention. There was a bigger party there, and we felt a lot of the attention was focused on them. Our food was fine. My husband said the French onion soup was really good. One of the bests that he's had. The salad was decent. My sandwich was good, but the fries were "meh". My so.
