Speakers were ridiculously loud. Out of curiosity, I pulled out my phone decibel monitor and it was recording ranging from 85db to 119db consistantly and we were at a table furthest from the speakers! The place was about 3/4 full. Busy, but not ridiculous. The waitress checked on promptly and brought us our drinks (water), but we asked for a bit more time to look at the menu. We didn't see her again for 35 minutes, when my wife crossed the room and asked her to take our order. She admitted she had forgot about us. We ordered a salad and a sandwich. No sight of our waitress for another 30 minutes. She apologized and said it was a hectic night. She came back and brought us more water, aplogized again, thanked us for our patience, told us we would be compensated for the delay and shared that a cook had quit on them that night and another had called in sick. She could not tell us how long, but when asked if it would be more than another 15 minutes, she said our food was currently being made and it would be out in less time than that. 20 minutes later, no sign of our waitress or food and so we left. At that time, the restaurant was less than 1/2 full. A very disappointing evening out.

Owners are cheaping out by not preparing enough of what's supposed to be their signature draw, barbecue meats. Coffee "creamer" is powdered. This place gets at least 1star for our server, she was prompt, friendly and unfortunately, resigned to management's decisions. This place used to do decent steaks and burgers. Now, it's $20 12-inch pizzas ... No thanks, there are plenty of mediocre places closer and cheaper with plentiful and quality ingredients to visit.

Yes they were busy but it was a big night being Valentine's Day but a good restaurant would plan for that. Asked to speak to manager about the 40 min wait on drinks ( 2 draft beers) and an hour and 20 min wait on diner and salads and 1 appetizer served after our meals arrived all he said was he was sorry and would take care of it. Bill came $140 he gave us 15% off. We didn't ask for any compensation at all he suggested he would take care of it but it just seemed like a slap in the face. Would never recommend this place to anyone

Always looking for options to meet friends half way....anyway the decor, restaurant was fabulous. The Arincini appetizer really good drinks and service (Holly) was great. Unfortunately the food really missed the mark. 45 days of aging...the steak was tender but flavorless. The crab cream topping the same. Our meal came out quicker than the apps...just was strange. The potato tasted old...For a $200 meal you have an expectation and this doesn't meet it unfortunately. I hope you guys do well it really is a neat environment.

The team here asked us to order at the bar before being seated. I don't know if that is their normal process. If it is...it might work well for the restaurants logistics but it creates a less than desirable dinning feel for me. The order takers were very friendly and helpful. They hustled to process the train passengers. The seating area is a large open room. It feels like an old factory turned beer garden. The floors are a nice hardwood. Not much decor or atmosphere in this large room. They did have a singer as entertainment which wasn't the best. For food I started with the potstickers. These weren't your traditional Chinese potsticker. They were over fried and tough. The filling was vegan instead of pork. It didn't work for me and wasn't very tasty. Kinda tough and flavorless. The sweet chili sauce really helped. I also tried the BBQ Mac Burrito. The BBQ was good but not very plentiful. It was a bit hard to find that taste. The Mac & Cheese was nice and creamy. The noodles were soft. Served alone I think they would be fine. Stuffed in a burrito....not a fan of. Please be aware that they don't give free refills on soda. We didn't have table service outside of someone dropping off food. Overall I will give them four stars for opening up special for the train tour. Otherwise I was rather unimpressed with this establishments process and food.

It's about a downtown as one can get, and easy to find. Inside The Side Rail looks larger than it does from the outside. It's nicely railroad themed with train signage, photos, and memorabilia around the place. Since it was Thursday evening around dinner time, the place was kinda hopping. There were no table available so we sat at the bar. The menu is sizable and has a lot of really appetizing items and it was, legit, hard to chose. I selected the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese (Texas toast smothered in jalapeno cream cheese spread and bacon, along with cheddar and pepper jack cheeses) with onion rings. They have, on our visit, about 6 different beers on tap, and from what we were told they're ever-changing. There were a number of screens behind the bar showing sporting events. The bar, itself, was adorned railroad style, of course, with real model railroad track. It was a very cool touch. Food delivery was less than 10 minutes, and it was served HOT, and the the Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese was exactly what I needed/expected. The onion rings were excellent (however, I did ask our server and they're not made/breaded their, but come out of a frozen bag. :( ) Nonetheless, they were fantastic. Our server (whose name escapes me) was great and answered all of our questions without hesitation. She also kept our iced teas topped off. The Side Rail is a fun, neighborhood kinda place with awesome theming and friendly staff. I wish this was closer to home. I could hang out here regularly.

Upon entering you're in a comfortable pub/bar with comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. We were greeted quickly and seated ourselves. Then came the food. My husband started with the $16 wings. For $16, I was expecting some pretty impressive wings. Instead, they were tiny and honestly looked like they had taken a quick detour through a gas station hot case before arriving at our table. Definitely not what I expected for the price. We ordered a 14-inch Italian pizza on thin crust, and to be fair, the pizza was good. Was it $26 good? That's debatable. Especially since there are NO PRICES on the menu. When the bill came, it showed $15 for the thin-crust pizza and then another $11 charge for "Italian." Apparently toppings come with a plot twist. It would be nice to know you're ordering a $26 pizza before you eat it. The building itself could also use some love. The outside facade is begging for a date with a power washer, and the inside could definitely benefit from a good deep cleaning. There was noticeable dust and cobwebs, and nearly every table around us had napkins shoved underneath the legs to keep them from wobbling. At some point, the napkins deserve to be put back on the tables and the tables deserve to be fixed. Overall, it feels like this was probably a really cool place once and still has the bones to be one. The live music was enjoyable, the pizza tasted good, and there was a nice crowd. But when you're charging $16 for tiny wings and $26 for a 14-inch pizza, the food, cleanliness, maintenance, and transparency with pricing need to match. A power washer, a deep clean, a screwdriver, and some prices on the menu would go a long way.
