So Ba is this quaint little restaurant that looks like a house from the outside tucked away from the main road in East Atlanta Village. I could eat pho everyday and will definitely become a regular here! The soup was very very good and flavorful- but just a tad on the salty side. The egg rolls were scrumptious! Prices are pretty good too- and the staff was awesome! I'm so glad we found a pho joint so close to home and won't have to drive all the way to Buford for some much needed Asian soul food. read more

I've been here before but only had pho, which is decent, but last time i decided to change it up and get a bowl of noodles with lettuce, grilled pork, shrimp and eggroll. It's a traditional vietnamese dish that I love, always order it on buford highway. This dish was inedible here, the "grilled" pork was some super greasy, slimy, burnt, and it looked like bacon (though i was told it was not bacon). I could not eat it, not only it had zero good flavor, but a lot of bad burnt greasiness flavor. ew. disappointing. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. We like the decor, and also the variety of music they play from day to day. We moved into the neighborhood about a month ago, and this is our #1 dinner spot. Wife and kid get the Pho, and love I the Tom Thit Nuong Cha Gio. At first I ordered from the bar for takeaway, I had a hunkering for Pho on this rainy monsoon evening. Bartender was so pleasant and told me I can have a smoke outside on the patio while I waited for my takeaway. Soooo, I decided to stay and splurge for my pre-celebration of buying my house , closing is this Friday! I ordered a Malbec, went out for a smoke and asked bartender if I could stay in and eat at his bar. He obliged. Did I say he's cute? He is. well, he came out and told me my spring rolls are coming up. Thank you, cutie! I ordered the number 5 and number 12, awesome!!!! They give you a side order of jalapeño slices, bean sprouts and basil. Put that in your Pho, tasty! I ordered the small bowl, spring rolls come in two huge portions! It's all good. Not terrific. Not horrible. The space is sparse, the service isn't spot on, and the food presentation is somewhat overkill. I kind of figured EAV would have been open for a Pho #1 kind of environmental honesty. It is convenient for me. It has a less than flavorful base for its Pho dishes. I have passed on Buford Highway restaurants for similar circumstances. I wish them the best, but I will continue in my steadfast belief that nothing will beat my standby off Clairmont and Buford. read more

Ok, so it might not be the most authentic Vietnamese you're going to find in ATL. But, it is still good. I like the casual vibe of the place and I think the food is quite savory. I will admit that the menu could use a little more selection, but other than that no complaints here, friendly staff, and affordable prices. Great pho. Place has a chill atmosphere, kinda weird, that doesn't seem authentic if you will but hey the food speaks for itself. I generally am pretty adventurous with food and like most things but the waiter convinced me to try the tripe and tendon pho and I couldn't get past the rubberyness. So that was bad. Beware. I knew I've reviewed this place before (luke-warmly), but I had to bring this up. We enter and wait to be seated. 10 mins later, a man pokes his head around the corner and rudely tells us to sit anywhere. btw no sign that says "seat yourself". Once again, it took LITERALLY 20 mins of waiting before we had to fetch a waiter to even grab drink orders. I know this is a tactic for waiters - wait long enough for them to choose EVERYTHING they want - but it's lame. Even if it's busy, just tell us you're short staffed. He just didn't care. We finally got a few waters brought to the table (our drink orders came with the food...30 mins later). While we finally sat down to eat, it began to rain. This finally put a little pep in his step. He rushed out to us, and told us we needed to move to another table...bc rain was about to pour out of the roof and on to our table. He wasn't lying - it gushed. But instead of helping us, we had to take multiple trips to move our food and drinks to a dry location (we were on the patio). After we were told the table we selected was a safe and dry one, we had to sit there and be dripped on the entire time. It was depressing. We weren't offered any sort of compensation, or even a dry table inside. So to review: - another long wait to speak to anyone - rained on - another long wait to get drinks It's unfortunate bc the food is delicious. But I don't plan on returning. read more

One of my favorite intown spots - can't go wrong with pho or my personal fav, #25 (com bo luc lac). SO TASTY! Service can be slow sometimes, but totally worth it. My husband loves the spicy tofu app and I'm partial to the spring rolls and the ginger margarita. read more

As someone with severe allergies to anything with eggs, fish or seafood I have always had to steer clear of certain foreign delicacies. It's just too much work trying to figure out what is made with what. So, when my friend suggested Vietnamese, I figured it would just be another time I'd go out to eat with friends and only have a soda. Was I skeptical? Yes. Was I concerned about my allergies because so much Vietnamese food has a fish or egg base to it? Absolutely. All was remedied though when our very sweet waitress came to serve us. I explained my food allergy concerns and she assured me she would make sure I didn't have to worry about it. I ordered the teriyaki fillet mignon and was blown away! It was beautifully plated, generous portions of beef with an amazing sauce. I actually had to split the meal and ate the other half for dinner the next night. Overall, the service was outstanding , the food was delectable and my mouth is watering right now just talking about it. One bit of advice: get there early! I noticed how quickly it was filling up when we were leaving. It's a pretty popular place for good reason. read more

My family and I came in tonight and had an incredible experience. Chester took the time to sit down with us and go through the Gluten Free options for my wife and even went the extra mile to bring a nice warm water bottle for my 1yr olds dinner! He was incredibly kind and we would return for just his service alone! But then let's talk about this food. We had the rice flour Fried Tofu with Onion and Fresh Jalapeño. Delicious! And the extremely nominally priced Pho was Hot, Fresh, and Simplistic. No need for frills, just great traditional execution. I have the pleasure of living really close to So Ba, so me and the lady go maybe once a month. We always have the spring rolls with shrimp or grilled pork and she will order the pho and I will have the broken rice dish with grilled pork, tripe and egg cake. All of it is amazing and delicious, the only downside is the pricy drink menu the cheapest adult beverage runs 5 bones. Now I know it is not that expensive but considering the neighborhood and the many hipster bars that sling cheap PBR and Miller Highlife they could have one of the two available. read more

Here in Atlanta on vacation. From Cali & we know what good pho is. It's ok. Hole in the wall. Main complaint is meat portion. I ordered the steak, brisket, & tripe. In addition I ordered extra tripe for $3. They gave decent amount of steak & brisket. The tripe portion was ridiculous. They were sliced very fine few millimeters wide, which was fine, except there were four fine strands about 4 inches long when I dug them out. There were few random mini tripe dots floating around. When I talked to the manager, I showed him the tripe amount & asked if that was normal for the extra tripe portion. He said to "dig deeper" & left. I had my husband "dig" around but he didn't find anymore. Then the manager came back with a small bowl of tripe & said he could get me extra tripe. He said he used to be from Sacramento & knows Ca is more generous. He then explain that's just how much they give there. Wished he would have just said that the first time... When he said to "dig deeper" the assumption is that there should be more tripe. Didn't eat the extra tripe. I think I was just a bit frustrated how he handled the situation. Broth was average. The food was really good, but our waitress was horrible. They're excuse for her being in a rush & not checking on our table was, "they're busy". It's a restaurant, so you should be busy! It's never an excuse to have piss poor costumer service. It's unfortunate because this was my fist time coming to this restaurant and my friends spoke so highly of it. Complete let down. read more

I have never been to Vietnam so I will not be comparing the food in the restaurant to "what it's supposed to be" .....like I've seen some members here write in their reviews. I really enjoyed it! The prices are more than reasonable, the portions are really large (enough for leftovers) and the food was yummy. I gave the place four stars because I wished the menu had even more options. I was hoping for brown rice for instance (I guess they don't do that in Vietnam)....but the staff was very friendly and helped me select my dish to help me find what I was looking for. One of my favorite things to do on a lazy weekend morning is head down the street to SoBa and order a huge bowl of pho to start the day. I sit at the bar usually, and am greeted courteously and quickly by the bartender. I order my usual pho (#14) and then, without fail for the past six months, enjoy the hell out of it. Fresh ingredients, fragrant broth, and good-quality meat help to make the food more than delicious. The pho is as good as any I've had on buford highway, and while maybe a dollar more then you'd pay at Lee's or Quac Huong, (a small bowl at SoBa is like 7-8 bucks), it save time, gas money, and frustration spent driving up Buford Highway. read more
