Good satisfying bowl of pho with rich and flavorful broth. $14 for a medium bowl is a pretty decent deal, even if the medium looks like a small. You'd be hard pressed to find a good quality pho at that price. The option to add filet mignon is a nice touch, and it was very tender, especially in contrast to the eye round and brisket ordered alongside the filet. Also got filet mignon banh mi special and that was good, too. It didn't feel too traditional because it didn't have fresh vegetables other than cilantro, only grilled peppers and small carrot pieces. Yeahhhhhhh it's a no from me on this one. There's gonna be a whole lot of "very" leaning into the negative during this review. Very middle of the road, and I usually lose my mind over pho. VERY tough meat. Very small bowl of pho that was allegedly "medium". I normally get a small at other places and can't finish... the servings were pitiful. Very oily fries that had that old grease flavor. Very small servings all around (except the fries) but high prices/up-charges for things that are certainly built into the (LOWER) prices at other Vietnamese spots. Not completely nasty, but surely not good. Very inattentive service at 10PM even though we were the only party and they closed at 12AM. Server was on his phone the entire time, and hubz had to physically get up and get the bill for a restaurant with a small dining room. The decor was going for upscale but missed that target by miles. Very dingy. Did I say very overpriced already? Very much a money grab that prices itself for the area it's in but doesn't deliver on ambience, service, or food. They are surely taking advantage of not having any real competition in the near vicinity. And don't get me started on the bathrooms... Pros: good broth, good parking, Nobi Cha next door. I've been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. I got introduced to them through a Yelp event a few years back. I was feeling under the weather and was in the mood for some pho when I recently stopped by. To start I ordered the shrimp in a blanket. They were fried perfectly and delicious. I also ordered pho with filet mignon and shrimp. The broth was very good, the filet was tender and I enjoyed it very much. My only complaint was the lack of noodles. I ended up taking the pho to go and had to order an additional side of noodles for $3. The customer service was pleasant and look forward to returning. read more

Pho Dai Viet doesn't disappoint when I just need a bowl of pho. This is my go-to when I'm in the Chastain Park area. The proteins I choose vary each time, but I always get the spicy beef broth. They're generous with the toppings and side sauces as well, and I think the servers are always surprised when i want extra jalapenos and chili oil, lol. I've brought friends here and they also enjoy it. The stone bowl is awesome for keeping your soup hot, especially if you're a slow eater like me. Inside, there's table and booth seating. It's not super fancy, but nice enough. The booth fabric has seen better days, but they're still very comfortable. Parking is plentiful, since the restaurant shares a lot with Publix in a large shopping area. I came here for lunch with a craving for pho. I wound up getting a large combo pho hoping to take the leftover soup or noodles home. For an extra $2, it came with all the meat, even halved meat balls, tendon, and tripe. I've never seen a stone bowl pho before, very cool presentation. It came with the thinly sliced raw meat separately so you can add it yourself. The soup was good though, somewhat flavorful. The shrimp spring rolls were ~$6 so on the pricer side. It comes with two thin rolls but wasn't stuffed loosely. They also cut it in half but overall they were kinda small. Parking is free in the Chastain Square with plenty of parking. There's also ample seating inside with booths and tables. It was fairly empty at like 1:30pm. Menu had a few good options under each category like pho, banh mi, vermicelli, rice, and drinks. Got lunch here after a long eventful hike. We got seated right away as there were only a handful of other tables occupied. Parking was easy since there's a large private lot. Craving a hot bowl of soup I decided to get their classic pho. The broth was rich and umami. I thought it was interesting it was served with a wedge of lemon as opposed to lime. I was having a rough day and craved the comfort of a big bowl of noodle soup. After a short workout, I looked up places with pho nearby. Enter: Pho Dai Viet My fiancé and I parked and headed inside, greeted by a statue of a huge bowl of pho and several Maneki-neko waving cats. The ambiance is casual and fun. Immediately, we were seated in a booth by the window and given menus. The menus are visually pleasing with big photos of most of the items. To start, we shared a an appetizer of fresh spring rolls with our choice of shrimp. They were very refreshing and delicious. Along with the peanut sauce, I mixed in a little hoisin and sriracha that were on the table and created a very yummy customizable sauce. For our entrées, we each did a Build Your Own Pho. I chose a small bowl (which was the perfect size for me), with spicy beef broth, tofu, carrots, and mushrooms. Of course I added some of the accoutrements we were given: juice from the lemons, Thai basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños. My pho was the perfect spice level and was absolutely delicious. My fiancé got a medium bowl with vegan/vegetarian broth, shrimp, carrots, and broccoli. He enjoyed his as well and added toppings to his liking. We agreed this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants we've been to--and we've been to a lot. We even took some pho to go for my fiancés mom. I ordered my food online. I walked in to pick it up. I looked through my order and saw that the shrimp spring roll in the vermicelli casing has lettuce instead of mint. I asked why that was and they said they always use lettuce. As long as I've eaten Vietnamese food -- no matter where in the country I order it from -- those rolls always come wrapped in mint. I gave it back and ordered a different appetizer because that is not what I paid for. The fact that they use lettuce is the reason, I won't be eating here again. Tried this restaurant for the first time today for a quick lunch. My wife and I shared the steamed gyoza. Four came with the order on a bit of lettuce and dipping sauce. The gyoza were doughy and bland. Maybe they are better fried. My wife ordered the chicken bahn mi and I had the scrambled egg bahn mi. The rolls were crispy and light. My scrambled eggs could have used some seasoning such as salt and pepper. Otherwise it was fine. My wife had to spit out two pieces of hucklebuck in the chicken. This was disappointing. Service was ok. The restaurant is showing signs of wear and tear. The covering on our seats were split and cracked. We were underwhelmed and will probably not return. read more

I was craving the freshness of Vietnamese food and this hit the spot. Thank you for clearly marking vegan options on the menu, it's much appreciated. My friend and I split the tofu veggie rolls. These are the fresh kind wrapped in stretchy rice paper and served with a thick, peanuty sauce. My complaint is that the rolls literally had tofu, lettuce and rice noodles. I often appreciate simplicity, but would've enjoyed them having another element. Cabbage, carrots or herbs would've made these even better. The sauce served alongside could also use more saltiness or umami (IMO). We both had the tofu vermicelli bowl as our main and it was very satisfying. I loved the mix of sautéed and fresh veggies. The tofu was well cooked and the portion size for this dish is considerable. Neither of us finished the bowl with the amount of noodles and the generous toppings. There's a good bit flavor from the sautéed veggies and tofu but they also serve a side of soy sauce. The crushed peanuts and fried shallots add a lovely crunch to finish things off. read more

The pork was all fat and looked unappetizing so after a bite or two, i set it aside and didn't finish it. I was catching a flight home so i grabbed a chicken Banh Mi to go and was so excited to eat it fresh at the airport. Unfortunately disappointment struck again in the form a dry sandwich - no mayo, no sauuuuce, just dry chicken carrots and cabbage. It would've been slamming with some sauuuuce. Overall, we had a good experience. Pho Dai Viet Restaurant is in Chastain Square, a large shopping center with many popular businesses. Fortunately, there is also a large and free parking lot that provides an ample amount of parking spaces for all customers. We came to Pho Dai Viet at about 6:30 pm on a Friday night. It wasn't very busy with customers coming in to sit down and eat. Business, though, was steady due to many people coming in for take out. We were seated immediately by one of the welcoming and friendly employees who did everything in the front of house, meaning he was the host, server, busser, floor sweeper - everything - and he did everything while displaying great customer service. He provided excellent service the entire time we were in the restaurant, checking on us periodically and seeing if we needed anything. Prices were reasonable. I ordered a large pho with steak, flank and brisket, R ordered a medium pho with steak, and we ordered the shrimp spring roll appetizer to share. The shrimp spring roll came out within 5 minutes of us ordering it, and were two rolls cut in half. Compared with every other Vietnamese restaurant we've ordered spring rolls from, these spring rolls were thinner and shorter (if you put both of the halves together. Other than the rolls being overall small, they were delicious and were even better when dipped into the peanut sauce that came with them. Pho toppings of bean sprouts, lemons and basil sprigs that were brought to our table on a small plate were fresh; however the total amounts of toppings was much smaller than what other pho restaurants give their customers. The bowls of pho provided a plentiful amount of meat and noodles, which I liked. The meat was good, and all of it was bite sized and tender. I didn't care for the flavor of the broth because it seemed watered down, and lacked the rich flavor that I was expecting. The large sized bowl of pho was filling.
