We went to So Good on Saturday night for a party of 12. The host was very accommodating to got us two tables in close proximity within 10 minutes or so. The dining space looked nice, there were some decorations for the festive season as well. The menu had starters, side dishes, noodles, and of course the K-BBQ, both individual and sets. We ordered a first set that came with 5 different meats including pork belly, prime ribs and steaks. The meat tasted good and they were cooked fine in the grill by the staff member. We also had free side items like cucumber, kimchi, macaroni, mixed greens and rice. We ordered few additional items like edamame, seafood pancake, beef dumplings and japchae. Everyone loved the thin noodles of japchae. Edamame and dumplings were fine. I didn't like the pancake as it had a very dense and bland tasting dough. Overall our dining experience was decent. They started us off this diff lil dishes, the egg plant, cauliflower: apple in white sauce, kimchee, bean sprout's, onion salad were really good . The egg casserole was so different n tasted good. We had the seafood pancake and asked them to make it a lil crispy which was really good. Also the fried beef n vegetable dumplings n edamame. The seafood pancake tasted really good n was more than enough for 5 people. The fried beef n vegetable dumplings tasted so good too. This later transformed--without warning, explanation, or shame--into a 2-hour wait. When we politely asked for an update, we were first ignored, then brushed off, as if questioning a wildly inaccurate estimate was a personal offense. And then, the executioner's final swing: They seated two people at a six-person table while smaller tables were open or actively being cleaned. Yes. Read that again. This forced our larger party to wait even longer for another large table to open--because nothing says "efficient seating" like deliberately creating your own problem. It was honestly impressive. Like watching someone spill a drink and then knock over the table to fix it. If you enjoy mediocre food, dungeon lighting, and front-row seats to managerial malpractice, this place is consistent. Made reservations and they didnt save pur seats so we had to wait 45 minutes. Really regret waiting. There were no apologies or anything instead they ripped us off with low grade meat i am assuming because they ran out. The best cut meat that was supposed to come out was the worst. Table side Korean that I didn't have to go to fort Lee for - local and seems pretty authentic. Food is cooked on a hot plate in front of you. Food was good, but expensive. This is our second time there and tried the tofu/vegetarian soup this time to change it up. I love spicy so this was perfect heat level for me. Will maybe try it again to try other menu items. Was passing through and wanted kbbq for Father's Day. We arrived at around 5:30 and were seated within 15 min, because the parties before us didn't show up; you snooze, you lose. For a family of 4, we ordered the seafood pancake, beef noodles (japchae), an order of bulgogi and kalbi. The quality was really good. The japchae noodles were chewy and flavorful. The seafood pancake was very crispy and full of octopus. The kalbi was of good quality with lots of marbling, and the bulgogi was very tasty. They brought in the steam egg along with the banchan: spicy fish cakes, pickled daikon, cabbage kimchi, cucumber kimchi, soy sprouts, and eggplant. We got seconds without asking. I did, however, had to ask for lettuce, ssamjang, garlic and peppers; they didn't serve rice, which I thought was odd. And they only give you a little squirt of sauce. It's not until they see you eating more that they give you more. Service was a bit slow as our server was managing 4 tables. All the food came out except for the coals to cook our food. This is a first for me on this side of the coast to see live coals for kbbq; most of the time, it's gas stoves. Our server helped us with cooking the meat. The space is large and not crowded. Considering that this place is only 15 min away, I was happy about the experience and would come back again. Prices are a bit higher, but again it's more convenient than driving to pal park. Parking lot is in the back, but it's a one way entrance from the right side of the building. Our server was awesome and super sweet to my daughter, even cutting up her meat into smaller pieces. The banchan assortment wasn't bad, and tbh has more assortment than most places these days. I'm admittedly not a huge meat eater so I can't comment on the quality, but seemed good to me and they seem to have every kind: marinated and non. So Good Korean BBQ - The name makes a bold promise, but does it deliver? When you are looking for a good meal, what do you search for? What separates something that you want to eat, from something that you don't? When I walked into So Good Korean BBQ on a Sunday afternoon, I was looking for a tasty meal, but the question is, did it live up to its name? There are so many important components in a restaurant review, so let's start from the start, here were my first looks and impressions on So Good Korean BBQ: Walking into the half-filled restaurant, a waiter immediately pointed to a table near the window, and me and my mom sat down. After a little bit, we got two metal cups, a big jug filled with water, and a menu. The waiter was kind and helped us. While their English was limited, their hospitality and effort to assist made us feel right at home. After some debate, we ordered the So Galbi (raw marinated short rib) and the Mandu (fried beef and vegetable dumplings). After around 5 minutes, we were given a large selection of salads and starters, for free!!! This was not only surprising, but single handedly makes this place a must-try if near. Out of each starter and side dish, the kimchi and tofu were the best, having strong Korean, acidic, and umami flavors, while my least favorite had to be the fish cakes or bean sprouts, which just lacked flavor or didn't appeal to me. While still munching on the side dishes, the main course came; After the waiter left, I had to try a Mandu. The second I bit into it, I knew that it was just simply delightful. The wrapper was crispy and gave a perfect entryway to the delicious meat, vegetable, and glass noodle filling. Truly exquisite. After a while, the meat was cooked. It was sweet from the marinade, salty and savory from the sauce that was given to us (most likely made from soy sauce), and perfectly tender and crispy from the cooking. To evaluate, I have created a ranking of each individual food and salad that we ordered: Seaweed - Free side salad - 7.6/10 - This was one of the free salads that we got before the main dish. It was okay, but leaning towards the good side. It was practically just greens with sesame oil. Very, very juicy. Cauliflower & Apples - Free side salad - 8.6/10 - This was interestingly good. It came on a small dish and I saw only the cauliflower. It was drowned in a white sauce that I thought would be acidic and savory. When I tasted it, it was unexpectedly sweet and when I tasted an apple, it made it even more sweet and delectable. Radish - Free side salad - 8.1/10 - I don't think that I have ever had radish before this, but it was extremely thin layers, cut into two and in a sort of sweet, watery liquid. It was good and I tried something new! Bean Sprouts - Free side salad - 7.3/10 - This one of my least favorite dishes. It was basically just bean sprouts. No toppings, no nothing. Maybe I was supposed to eat it with something else, but it was not that tasty alone. Tofu - Free side salad - 8.7/10 - This was my second-favorite side salad out of all of them. It had sesame oil and a spicy kick because of the red sauce and peppers on top. Fish Cakes - Free side salad - 6.8/10 - This was by far my least favorite salad. It tasted extremely fishy and a little spicy. It looked like chips with red seasoning, but didn't taste similar at all. Kimchi - Free side salad - 9/10 - This was by far my favorite salad. Kimchi is fermented Korean cabbage in dozens of seasonings and sauces. It is red and tastes really acidic, spicy, and flavorful. Beef - Main dish - 9.3/10 - The beef itself was melt-in-your-mouth. It was fatty, with lots of meat and had a great crust. Dipping it in one of the sauces that we got was just exquisite. Dumplings - Main dish - 9.2/10 - These also had a great balance of texture and flavor, as there was not too much dough, but it was very crispy and flaky. The filling with beef and veggies was just a perfect fit with the flaky and crispy dough. Another thing to add was the assistance and service at So Good. Although most workers there didn't speak or understand much English, their warmth, welcomeness, and helpfulness overshined that. They helped with everything we asked, and tried their best to make us feel comfortable, which they succeeded in. The atmosphere in the eatery itself was over the top. There were loads of customers inside and energy there. It sort of feels like when you go into a restaurant and you know it will be satisfying, that is how I felt when I walked into So Good. To conclude, this is the Korean BBQ restaurant that you are looking for. It has everything you could want; Great accommodation, high energy, and most importantly, appetizing and mouthwatering food. I walked into So Good hungry and curious--and left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. It certainly did live up to its name. read more

Simple requests for more kimchi.. no reply. I don't get it. Never had this happen before. Ask for hot tea, get just hot water. Asked a different server and was told they do not have "bodi cha", just "hot water". OK. Get all our meats and bonchan, and no sangchoo. Was told I need to request it. Thats a new one. In the past, order two meat dishes and it came with egg stewing away. Today, I had to ask and was once again told.. it was by request only. Kind of odd for a KBBQ place especially since prices here are higher than other local offerings like in Fort Lee. And the worst part is, we get our check.. and the server disappears. Says nothing. We walked out with anyone caring or saying a word. She was just happy to be done with her shift. Really unbecoming and truthfully, bad customer service just ruins a meal. $150 later, feeling annoyed. We had dinner at So Good while visiting family in New Jersey. At this family-owned restaurant, both the staff and owners were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten-free options on the menu. The restaurant is BYOB and also serves wine. Our party of four ended up ordering edamame, a couple tofu soups, a bottle of wine, and five meats, which we found to be quite filling. The staff was very attentive in helping us cook the meats, which made us feel very well taken care of. So Good is a trendy Korean BBQ restaurant in downtown Closter. The place is large and has modern decor. I like the fact that there's ample space between tables. One thing that I don't always like at other Korean BBQ places is that the tables are very close to each other and it's almost like everyone is on top of each other. The menu offers a pretty typical variety of BBQ items as well as appetizers and rice/noodle dishes. I ordered 1x Haemul Pajean (Seafood pancake), 1x So Galbi (marinated short ribs), and 1x Teung-Samgyeobsal (thick-cut pork belly). All three were really good. The So Galbi in particular was fantastic. If I wasn't so stuffed I would've ordered another one. Service is excellent and all the servers were very accommodating and came often to check in on us. There's ample street parking in the area and the restaurant is also kid-friendly. I came here with my family for Father's day dinner. We ordered 2 sets of C which came with ribeye, another type of beef and pork. Each set was almost $100 and comes with a small stew. Ordered the bulgogi and it was mediocre at best. Instead of using thin strips of meat like most Korea bbq places, they use little bits of ground beef which is much cheaper meat. The bulgogi was also way too sweet and drenched in liquid, very different from other Korean restaurants. Highly recommended! Been here twice and loving it. They have outdoor seating at the back of the restaurant and they have portable griller. Tried their So Galbi, Bulgogi and Deungsim and we love it! Just had lunch there this Sunday 5+ STARS for the Incredible service and the excellent meal! We had 3 orders of Kalbi for the 4 of us with seafood Soonduboo! The Kalbi was excellent quality and they changed the grill for us after we polished off the 1st half of our order, quality food and service. The soonduboo was very tasty and the seafood pajun and mulmondu were as good as the meal! And they ended our meal with toasted marshmallows, fantastic touch!
