I called in for a takeout order of seafood soft tofu stew and spicy beef stew and was extremely disappointed with what I received. The container for the soft tofu stew was only 3/4 full and contained one sad whole shrimp and what looked like mussels and clams from the frozen mixture of seafood that you can find at Hmart. The ratio of ingredients to broth for the spicy beef stew was way off. Both stews also were salty for my taste. The side dishes were just okay. The seasoned perilla leaves and cucumber side dishes were better than the radish kimchi, which were again too salty for my taste. I didn't try the fish cakes, but I was also told it was just okay, nothing special. I have gotten takeout from here before with a marginally better experience. If I had written a review for this restaurant before, I would have likely given a three. And perhaps my experience would have been better if I had dined in, but I certainly won't be getting takeout from this restaurant again. read more

Had a variety of things and thought everything was OK. The assorted tofu soup has some beef and some mussels. It was OK. The seafood pancake was pretty good though. The cleaning fluids they use to clean has a very strong smell and I had a reaction on my skin/face. Such good Korean food! We love this place! They also have a great lunch menu that is very affordable. We love their squid rice on their lunch menu. Their cold buckwheat noodles is also way better than Homung Nangmyun in closer. It's tastier and cheaper! Their kalguksu noodles and dumplings are also some of our go to dishes! read more

Only offering takeout these days due to COVID-19. I can say that the quality of their food has not gone down at all. Today, I ordered a Haemul Pajeon, Galbi + Soondubu combo, Woogeoji Galbitang, and Donkatsu. Everything was very well packed, including the banchan. As I said, quality is still as good as before. Just ran into Myung Ga Tofu for a quick weeknight meal. I was greeted by a nice woman and was offered a choice of seating in a nice modern and clean setting. I knew from looking at their menu online that I wanted to order the pork belly and tofu soup combo. It's very nice that they allow you to pick the tofu soup that you want (some places charge extra for add ins in the tofu soup) and I selected the pork tofu soup. The banchan arrived quickly and the highlights for me were the excellent kimchi and some of the best cold greens that I've had. (Expertly dressed and packed with flavor) Soon thereafter, smoking hot pork belly and boiling tofu soup landed in front of me. The pork belly was super tender with a succulent sauce. The tofu soup featured silky tofu and rich broth. Perfect for a cold night. They also include a nice portion of rice, which I like to add to the last of the tofu soup for flavor. I used to love this spot, one of my fav restaurants. I've probably been here more than 50+ times. Now, I hate them because of their crappy service and their terrible business etiquette. I dined here last month and paid the bill with my credit card. If you read this, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD! I know mistakes happen but it all depends how you handle your interaction w your customers. This woman charged my card twice. When I called and explained, the lady sounded so annoyed and before I even got to finish explaining, she said "no we didn't charge you twice" and continued to deny. Until this day, I'm fighting w the card company and its not looking good for me because she charged one transaction w the tip and one w/o the tip. They're not seeing this as a valid claim. This all could've been avoided if she took extra 5 minutes and resolved this for me. Why would I want to pay $75 (almost double) for my meal when it was supposed to be only $40. Congratulations. This is the place that I order take out from when suffering a bad cold. I've also ordered bimbimbap (forgive my spelling) and bulgolgi here. All their food is delicious. Most of their staff speak fluent Korean, and I unfortunately do not speak any. It is handy that they use an online platform that you can order from before an order taker and myself easily confuse each other. But let me reiterate, I order their spicy tofu soup on days that I suffer from a cold, and it does the trick of opening me up. The flavor is great, but if you can't handle spicy, stay away. Such great, heartwarming food! I suddenly had a wisdom tooth removed, so I was looking for local eats that offered easy to eat foods that could fill me up. We ordered to go. I ordered the dumpling tofu soup with plain broth. It was so heartwarming and filling! It was enough for two meals for me. The plain broth is very flavorful, so it's still a great option for those who have trouble with spice, but want to have tofu soup. Besides the tofu, the soup also comes with zucchini and onion pieces in it. The dumplings were so yummy! One order comes with 5 dumplings, a side of rice, and plenty of tofu. My partner got the donkatsu. Wow they give a LOT! This was also enough for two meals for him. It comes with an Asian style demi glacé/gravy type sauce, so it's a bit more "tomato-y" in flavor. He's not a huge fan of these kinds of sauces for katsu, but I love it. He said the katsu itself was good though. He liked how big and crunchy the pieces were. They also give plenty of sides and rice. I like how thoughtfully and neatly they packed our to go order. The donkatsu is ventilated to help keep it crisp. The sides and my soup were packaged with a plastic bag over them in case there's leakage (there wasn't any for us). The hostess was also very kind and radiated warmth. Staff were all wearing their masks as far as I could tell. This was our first time here and first time at a Korean BBQ. We ordered from the combo specials and got C9 and C10, which was pan seared squid with pork belly and pan seared octopus also with pork belly. The flavors were phenomenal and the portions were large. This restaurant is tucked away along a small strip mall, so when you go into the parking lot, make a left and you'll see it towards the middle. When we walked in, we were greeted and sat immediately. The menu is about 4 pages long, but has everything you need - appetizers (dumplings yum), tofu soup, kbbq, and rice dishes. I ordered the beef tofu soup and my boyfriend ordered the chicken kbbq. After we ordered, we were given water and the classic Korean free cold appetizer arrangement. All the appetizers were delicious! I especially loved this dish that had sliced pears and onions pickled in this vinegar mix and jalapeños. Our food came out shortly after the service was great! The hostess cracked my egg into my tofu soup for me and left us to enjoy our meal. Everything was delicious. My tofu soup was the perfect spiciness level (you can pick from a scale of mild, medium, spicy, and danger) and my boyfriend gobbled up his spicy chicken kbbq. I love that I don't have to drive to Fort Lee for my soondubu fix. Not as great as BCD but the convenience is appreciated. Owner and staff are always so friendly and courteous. We are not Korean and never have a problem with service or ordering. BYOB with no corkage fee. No ice bucket but they will give you their water glasses to use. Staples for my family has been their oyster soondubu, galbi, seafood pancake, fried dumplings and bipimbap. Banchan selection is pretty slim but they are happy to refill with what they have. I loved the various banchan and the generous portions. I decided on a pork belly and octopus dish on a sizzling platter with rice, and it was delicious. I kept eating it although I was full. My husband ordered a pork belly dish that had a different sauce than mine did, and that was equally tender and delicious. The staff was very attentive and polite, and I like that the food is authentic. There's a Korean restaurant about 5 minutes from my house, but I'd rather drive 30 minutes to this restaurant since the food is superior. I never even knew this restaurant existed but stopped for lunch. It is a bit pricey but decent food. The review is for service which was underwhelming. They Seem to focus on takeout orders versus customers to eat in the restaurant so our food took a long time to come out. It also did not come all together so our party of 4 all finished our meals at different times. We had the short rib soup, short rib lunch box, soba noodle and hand torn noodle soup. The most disappointing was the lunch box. The short rib was fatty cut and the jabchae was very sweet. I agree with what most of the reviewers have already written, except for the guy who can't speak or spell English correctly. Parking was not a problem for me. It is located in a strip mall, with the storefront facing a long, narrow parking lot. More parking is available around the corner, which would be no more than a 30 second walk from the restaurant's front door. I believe there is an Annie Sez clothing store there, and we all know how retail is doing (meaning: there is plenty of parking). Conclusion: Parking is not hard to find at all. Try a *little* bit harder. Food was not salty at all. I actually thought that the food was more on the bland side, which is what most Koreans prefer. It would help if the reviewer at least wrote what he ordered. I ordered the beef tofu soup and fried dumplings - both were quite good. I do prefer the more popular tofu soup restaurants in Palisades Park and Fort Lee, but I also prefer not to drive 20-25 minutes one-way every time that I have a craving for tofu soup. The staff was friendly. They were helpful when we asked them for something. Not sure how the staff "just helps once and that's it", but if you need help and ask for something, I am certain that they would be more than willing to help. Banchan variety was average. You had a basic staple of banchan, but for a smaller mom&pop shop, I didn't expect a huge amount of banchan. They were generous with the refills though. I really dislike people who try to slam a mom&pop business without really providing details. If you legitimately had a bad experience, you should provide more details as to why you did not like it. It could be a learning experience for the business owner. Writing a review that doesn't provide much feedback and giving one star doesn't help anyone who wants to look for a korean restaurant in Closter, or the business owner trying to make tweaks to improve their business. After some research and recommendations from friends and family, we all decided on this one as it had the most options and was convenient with reasonable prices. I have to say we were not disappointed! My favorite thing about this place was the combination plates on the menu. For around $20 you could order a signature tofu soup (with customization options of spice level from mild to "danger" and what type of additional ingredients you wanted whether it was seafood or vegetables, etc) AND various other items such as Kalbi. We arrived shortly before 1 and there were only a few tables occupied, but the entire place filled up by the time that we left. The staff was very friendly, and we really enjoyed both of our dishes. In between the server checked up on us to if everything was ok. He was very humorous and made our dinner extra nice. Out of all the foods we ordered, pork cutlet was the best!!
