This place is super clean once you get in, everything was very close in proximity to our site. The bathroom, spotless and also the showers. We stayed for 2 days, in those 2 days our son was able to run around worry-free with his bike, go to the beach and swim. FYI NO CELLPHONE SERVICE HERE. So don't complain. camping is about getting out with friends and family and spend time with each other. the lake was not crowded we were able to see fireworks at night. If your using a tent make sure you don't use your stakes for the ground because every campsite is under a bedrock which I was super pissed trying to keep my vestibule up. Also, there are a lot of people using golf carts to get around so best believe that there are people riding around during the day and the night. Overall this place has everything that you need wood, ice cream, condiments, ice, just make sure you take enough goods for the stay. Also, I thought this was a plus if you wanna pay a little bit extra you can have electricity. each site has water and an outlet so if you need to bring a fan to keep the tent cool you should be fine. Kid friendly place. They have a boat dock so you can go fishing and a playground that is clean and a basketball court and volleyball court .

I love camping, but I'm really picky. I want it all. I want the feeling of privacy, I want to camp on the waterfront, I want the rustic environment with all of it's natural charm & I want that hot shower with a flushing toilet nearby. I wanted the ideal romantic campsite that would be great for a couple. That's a lot to ask for right? Wrong! I found our gem, so stay with me here... First things first! Call them up & discuss your needs. I may want & need all that I have listed above, but your needs may be wildly different. They'll most likely have an ideal spot that caters to all of *your* needs. I need a huge tent, because I'm a bit of an air mattress "glamper," and I also needed the feeling of privacy. *I* was keen to walk a bit & leave the car in another spot to achieve my perfect campout, so they directed me to *my* needs. I spoke with Heidi (a couple owns this site) & she answered all of my questions in-depth before helping me book the site. There is something for everyone, I assure you. Call & discuss with her, she gets *it*. We stayed on the Islands, beyond the Pines sites. There were rules involved. The sign should just read "NO JERKS ALLOWED," but jerks don't read signs & jerks don't even know that they're jerks, so there are rules that pertain. I booked a spot on the Island where there are no radios (except w/ headphones) and no dogs allowed. Sure, you think your music taste is great, and that your dog is harmless & cute, but I might not think that! This part of the campground was perfect for me, but if you want to play radios, have your car right near the tent, or bring your dog along, she'll book you another part of the campground where it's allowed. We pulled into the Pines parking lot & got a handy wheelbarrow to haul our things over to what felt like a completely secluded campsite for my boyfriend & I. The only signs of life from neighboring sites were smoke signals from their campfires. It felt like we owned the land, just him & I, and I was really grateful. I'm a city dweller, I don't need other people to communicate with, because they're with me at all times when I'm home. I wanted to feel alone & I got it! No giant frat party here! If you want a more active part of the grounds, ask, but I don't think jerks are allowed, so keep it in mind if you're a big jerk! We were told how to keep it clean if we didn't want to tempt greedy raccoons & we did, so there was no evidence of hungry animals that would have eaten us in the night. We were also assured that even though it's bear country, bears weren't an issue there like many of the Catskill campgrounds. Not a single bear interrupted us. We did see some gorgeous deer when we pulled into the road, some salamanders, a few hummingbirds & a chipmunk. All so very welcome to share the experience with! Outside of flushing toilets & showers, there are outhouses closer to each site for that middle of the night bathroom trip. When I arrived, Heidi assured, "They're clean." And they were. Nothing gross about the shower house, or the outhouses & that's kind of hard to achieve. Hats off to the couple who own this place. They're doing everything correctly. On-site Heidi runs a little camp shop for all your forgotten, but needed basics. Firewood & sodas, ice, eggs & bacon, marshmallows, grahams & chocs for s'mores. Batteries for lights, and well, you get the picture. These people get my style! Or I get theirs, rather, but you know what I mean. On the campgrounds you'll find the sincerely charming & quaint old covered bridge, a quick hike to waterfalls, and a great menagerie of animals that Heidi keeps! Roosters & chickens, some fancy Polish chickens who look like Andy Warhol art stars, donkeys, a horse, cats & bunnies, curly feathered wedding geese and a goat that begs for a nibble of food. Heidi took the time to satisfy my curious questions about the animals while my boyfriend happily fed them all some feed that you can buy for just a dollar. Thing is, I always leave the campsite & do Catskill things, but this time I didn't even want to leave the site at all. It was all there for me. Although it's pricier than some campgrounds, I'll definitely be dropping my usual favorites & come here instead. It was worth every penny & I'm happy to have found it at last. It's perfect & our hostess Heidi was a sincerely gracious & cool gal that I'll see year after year, I'm sure. I woke up in NYC after my trip feeling fully charged & refreshed, already ticking down the months for my next trip up.

And I said - "listen darlin' - I'm traveling every road in this here land" And the machine that kills fascism started up in my head and sang songs of early Americana - my love of the land "Green Douglas furs where the water cuts thru - down Her wild mountains and canyons she flew - Canadian northwest and the oceans so blue" sing along now people "Roll On Columbia Roll On" - all as I'm watching little brownish grey fishies in seperate sunny huddled eddys, as if they're watching what's happening on land and perhaps waiting for a tired out mosquito to land. But ee were just looking to spend a night or two in the woods of the southern Catskills, not much more so we couldn't do it all - plus, thirteen hours of darkness now arrive around these parts in this time on the calendar (October 9tg) and just about 40* overnight with Big Phil and the new addition - Shrimp Scampi at the tender age of 15 months - one more makes a Three Dog Night - he's a stallworth young laddy passed his time chasing off all approaching fishermen and outgoing ATV's with ferociously - slightly alarming but new to the game of life, we'll just keep close watch and avoid the natives. The talk of The River permeates the crisp October air "but there's quite a few people over there" So I asked to see The Lake - we took the rig up and over rugged terrain and the lake sat perched up a twenty feet from the base campground Getting there bestowed Falls yearly yet short color splendor and grandur, the explosion of prime time foliage in the mountains. And there's something special about a swirl of fallen leaves - perhaps it's the tailspin behind us, wanting to follow but resetting instead as we rumble on. I quickly got a fire going, Marmot Limelight 2P, Vietnam Army cot, Yeti with all sorts of goodies and firewood both paid for then split with my Kelly Works axe. The ringing in my ear from the damn cellphone continually pounding and let's not leave out the grinding city rumble -- but it lightly lifted from off my soul with a bit of help from Veltins pilsner as the beer buzz began take hold - I only see Veltins upstate and not in all of these Catskill parts, so keep an eye out. Back to my beer and distractions within - I used the instructions frim my new Gillie Kettle to get my fire going as I'm not even slightly concerned about getting all 52 (inflated figure) pieces stacked and the fire going because I was going to cook a meal fit for coal miner's and accountants - a hearty thinking man's stew - but it didn't go according to plan and I got a bit miffed - so I did away with that process and put a steak on my BLACKSTONE 1650 because that's how I roll - always with backups for my backups. The thirty bucks for my campsite was fairly priced and I didn't tell y'all - I arrived on the final weekend before seasonal closing, just because I took a loopy wrong turn and I relooped it - but I'm thinking for a family with kiddos under 15, and during peak summer - this here spot is a real humdinger. For me, for what's it's worth, I'll just drive deeper into the woods - I can't say I'm a campground guy - but I respect it for what it is.

This place was really nice and so easy access. Our host Kara-Ann was just amazing and had excellent communication! Check in and check out was so easy using the hipcamp app as well as texting with the host. I absolutely loved being greeted with a cute flower in a pot ready for us to take back home as a souvenir. Also, the breakfast basket is adorable and comes in a cooler so it all stays good. Served with local honey right from their farm as well as eggs from their chicken and homemade oatmeal bread. What else could you possibly want? Oh, yes, make sure to order a handmade bar soap or their awesome lip balms! The campground is off the grid. Very very quiet except for the chickens hehe. But in a good way! No toilets or showers but you're welcome to bring your own camper/tent/car and do your own thing! Pets are allowed with a leash. Every campground has its own campfire station as well as picnic table. It's a true off the grid experience while still having plenty to do nearby. Make sure to check out Woodstock for all the artsy vibes or for some food if you don't feel like cooking while camping haha. Great experience and great location! Can't wait to be back!

There are four domes available, each with their distinct personalities. We stayed in the Modern Luxury dome, which was plenty space for the two of us, but there are others that have nearly double the space. Our dome was outfitted with a ton of creature comforts, like a full kitchenette, a full bathroom, a wall-mounted TV (with complimentary Youtube Premium!), and an extremely comfortable mattress on an adjustable head- and foot-power base, so that we were able to watch the snowfall outside our igloo from the perfect position. Checking in was a cinch. Each dome is programmed with a numeric lock, and the passcode corresponds with the last digits of the lodger's phone number, so gaining access is super easy. Inside, the space is definitely one-of-a-kind. It's like a giant igloo, with the bathroom making up the center middle and the rest of the studio space orients around the perimeter. The bed looks onto the outside, which presents a unique and serene windowscape. We hit some small snafus during our visit. We arrived just ahead of a big snowstorm, and it was pretty cold inside even with the heat left on at a supposed 75 degrees. After emailing and calling the property manager, someone showed up with a space heater that made a huge difference. After the storm subsided, someone also came by and wordlessly shoveled all the driveways and walkways, which we certainly appreciated. The immediate neighborhood is pretty quiet and doesn't have a whole lot going on, but we were able to find a few things that allowed us to carve out our own version of the fun stay. Within driving distance, there's a supermarket, Resorts World casino, Kartrite indoor water park, and two small tubing/skiing options.

The location was nice, in the sense of you are definitely out in nature, but have a Walmart and other local spots within a few minutes drive, as well as the Resort's World casino! Overall, the perfect spot for a cute getaway or bachelorette for those that love nature, but aren't quite the camping type like myself.

Dominicans don't do camping. Period! But hubby's a Nuyorican and he loves all this stuff. In a Yurt? Well...That's the question I got when I told folks where I was staying for the weekend. But...it's a give and take and all in the name of love. Right? Caryn & Mark own Awakening Garden grounds. There's a Yurt, 2 Cabins, a Tepee and a Buddha Hut to choose from. (Call or check website for prices). Pitching a tent was definitely out of the question. Now you're asking......what the heck is a Yurt? Well Google says its a, "circular tent"- and that's precisely what it is- but bigger. Our Yurt, has no bathroom- but the 'Bathhouse' is literally 5 steps away (and no...it's not a latrine- by the way). It doubles (or triples) as a small kitchenette with a small fridge, sink and 2-burner hot plate, a full bathroom with a shower, 'Dining Area' and a gorgeous carpeted nook if you want to do Yoga (perfect). Yurt rental for us (at this time of year was $370 ($135 for each of the first two nights and $100 for the third night) plus $30 cleaning fee. It's super comfortable with a Queen-size bed, but there's extra room within the Yurt that could easily sleep at least 2 more people (please double check with the owners first for a payment scale and/or if more people are allowed before you bring your posse). Coming at this time in the Fall was perfect and we didn't need to worry about freezing up here. The Yurt has 2 portable heaters and kept us super toasty for this time of the year. Plus there's a potbelly stove as an added measure. Additionally, there's a baseboard heater in the "Bathhouse". Don't want to pitch a tent? Or do the Hut or cabin stay? But you still want to get that outdoorsy, woodsy feel? Then staying in a Yurt is your best bet to give you a bit of both worlds. Oh by the way...it's just you and Nature at it's finest because there's no TV. And WiFi? If you're lucky- because it comes and goes! Didn't realize how much more I'd appreciate Nature and sleeping in a Yurt made me feel like I was right in the thick of it- which we were. This is totally off the spectrum for me compared to my new fave and up-to-trend hotel- The Emerson- but we wanted to switch things up. I'm really not taking points off because there isn't a TV. Or because we had to walk 5 little steps out of our Yurt and into a Bathhouse. Or because there wasn't a thermostat to regulate the heater. All I kept saying to myself was- 'things could be a lot f*cking worse in the woods'. This Yurt is up to standards and met me in many ways for it being in the woods. 4+1/2! Both Caryn and Mark run Awakening Garden very nicely. It's truly Zen here.

It is off the road and the area is quite large to walk around and feel yourself alone in the woods. At the same time, there is absolutely everything one would need from civilization: hot shower and electricity. We stayed in Thoreau house which has eclectic, but very cosy interior with old furniture and it was very romantic to sleep in the attic. Also, this place is very close to gorgeous Kaaterskill Falls and several nice lakes.

It's all the magic of being out in nature without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. My adorable dome was romantic, peaceful, ridiculously charming, and close enough to New York City to make for the perfect easy escape. This is a wonderfully unique way to take a break from city life and enjoy the outdoors in style ~ I think my highlight was lounging in a hammock on my private deck on Saturday morning, coffee in hand, looking out over the lake and thinking, "I can get used to this!" With gorgeous Catskills scenery, five-star-resort comforts, and just enough wilderness to make you feel adventurous without ever having to suffer for it, I absolutely loved it, cannot recommend it enough, and will 100% be back.

The water pressure is very strong for the shower and faucets, which is great. They do have bikes and kayaks, but you have to pay to rent them, according to the website, so we didn't bother because it's ridiculous that they'd charge you after paying so much per night. You can't drink the faucet water, so they give you 16oz bottles of water, and we stayed three nights and got eight bottles of water. We weren't sure if we'd get charged the $1.50 per bottle that was on the website if we asked for more. Guess you can't drink your recommended amount of daily water. They also have a bunch of creepy statues around that look more satanic than gargoyles like they have on their map. To get to your dome it's a decent walk for most, so they do offer you a ride, but when we checked out, we texted about a ride and never got a response, so we lugged everything up the hill to the car and then when we got there the one guy said you should've text and I would've picked you up. Yeah, we did a half hour ago and you never responded back. They even tell you at check in if you need anything to text them, but they aren't that responsive. We texted two times our whole trip and when we did get a response it was an hour later and the second time we never got a text, which is why we lugged everything up the hill. The domes are nice, the beds are comfortable but the hospitality sucks. The grill is great and there's plenty of seasoning, plates, pots and utensils to get you through your stay.
