Great atmosphere. Drinks are yummy. But I am always disappointed with how my nails look when I leave so I can not give more than 3 stars. I keep trying to go back and try different staff but each time I am disappointed- uneven color, bubbles, streaks. They don't seem to double check their work much. I think it's a great location if you want an environment that is very classy, clean and has great drinks. Every time I have an appointment scheduled for a special occasion right before the appointment they call to cancel one or two of the appointments. I understand people get sick and the work force isn't what it was but this is every time I've planned a special get together there. Appointments are planned at least a month out. This has happened on more than one occasion. Soak has lost me as a patron. Never again will I plan a special occasion or buy gift cards. Too bad because I like supporting local business and I'm not one to write a review but feel like this is warranted since special occasions have been ruined. read more

I've been back to Soak twice since my original review. The first return trip was excellent - noticing my review, management offered to have me come back in for a re-do. Taylor at the downtown location did a great job on a shellac manicure with excellent attention to detail. More recently, I visited the South Reno location for another shellac mani and it was ok. Again, not a ton of attention paid to my cuticles, so my edges looked a little ratty again. Also, the gel started lifting after about a week and kept snagging on things, so I soaked them off so they wouldn't rip off. I guess I should have tried to go back to see Taylor. read more

Being new to Reno I need to find a "home" in which I can get mani-pedis. I had hoped this place would be the right one for me. I've been where twice. On my first visit; I love that they serve alcoholic drinks and the decor was quite nice. However.....brining a bowl of water out in which to soak my feet seemed quite strange. It was not warm enough. I missed having jets spraying on my feet while they soak. The nail technician was nice enough, but I'll say that my pedicure and manicure (shellac) were just average and not worth the expensive price they charge, but I was willing to give it another try. On my second visit; I was on time. I was met by the receptionist and asked to have a seat and asked if I'd like a drink. I did not get a drink that day so just sat and waited. And waited. I had shellac on my finger nails and was hopeful that someone would at least wrap my nails as I waited for my technician. After 15 minutes and no one showed up, I was concerned. After 25 minutes sitting in the chair with no one even acknowledging me, I got up and walked over to the receptionist. I told her that "apparently my business is not very important to this business". Her answer was, "well we are busy". I just shook my head and walked out. I got a follow up email asking, "hey, how'd we do?". I answered just as I have here and never got any response. It's too bad this place did not work out. The drink idea is nice, but avoid this place at all cost. The only thing they have going for them are the drinks and decor. I tried this nail spa out for the 1st time. I got the hydrating lemongrass pedicure and manicure. It was very relaxing, I enjoyed the natural products used however, I was shocked when they used acetone to wipe my nails off. I did not have any polish on before or after. A major disappointment was the lack of a good foot and hand massage. Also, typically when you don't get any polish you get a little extra massage. Terrible experience today. This is my third time here. First 2x were 4 star because of the lady "who is no longer with them" did a phenomenal job. From gel nail that lasted over 8 weeks each time and an unbelievable massage- both times. Well worth their very expensive charges. Unfortunately the lady who did my pedicure today was in what seemed to be an incredible hurry. I was her next to last client (customer). Didn't catch her name but she wore a gold necklace with the letter M. She hurried thru my gel removal and polish. The "massage" was just applying lotion to both legs at one time. No "massage" what so ever. So disappointing for the $70+ charge. Turns out she had to get to her next client. I won't be back. Too bad. It's a pretty nice place. read more

Got gel polish because that's really all they offer, and the lady got smudges all over my nails and didn't fix it. They were rude and confusing on the phone when we were asking what our appointment included. They massaged our hands for 5 seconds and my lady forgot to give me a hot towel. This has the potential to be awesome. Good atmosphere and awesome they serve alcohol. The problem is it was the worst pedicure I've had in 20 years. All 6 of us in our party got less than 3 min massage. Our heels are still rough and the shellac on my toughs was ruined by there light. If I could give 0 stars I would have. I had an appointment my niece. The GPS took us to the wrong location. I called and spoke with a lady who helped us get to the correct address. We were on the phone for 10 minutes during that time the nice lady offered to call and notify the salon. When we arrived we were told that we could only have 1/2 the service but would still be charged the full price. We questioned that policy and was told sorry that's all we have time for. If we didn't stay for the 1/2 service we would be charged $125 ​cancellation fee. While we were there was another client waiting expressing the unfair policy and that she herself cancelled the day before with no penalty. The receptionist called the owner Shannon was we were told that there was nothing that they were willing to do for us except take our money for ​1/2 the service. The salon was not busy as per the 2 other clients that left while we were waiting on the phone call to Shannon. I again asked if there was anything that they would be willing to do to help us out as I am from out of town visiting and this was a gift from my niece. ​I am disappointed that this one was and is willing to take advantage of a young girl. I am really surprised by the negative reviews for Soak South Creek! Granted, I am new to the mani/pedi world, but the seasonal pedicure I just received was an amazing way to start my weekend! Last summer, I had an ultra-hydrating mani & pedi done with my bridal party at the 2nd St. location. We had a wonderful time, but even as a mani/pedi virgin, I wasn't very impressed with the french tips I received because they were thick and uneven, kinda Frankenfoot-ey. I didn't think that the prices were outrageous, but I wasn't wowed enough to justify a return...Today, however, I had a seasonal pedi at the South Creek location, and I am officially converted to the church of Soak! I think that the 2nd St. location is really cute, but I definitely prefer the South Creek location. My experience at Soak South Creek was much roomier and more tranquil than the experience I had at 2nd St. This is not a criticism of the 2nd St. location, just an inevitable effect of operating out of a cute, small 1920's style home. My nail tech, Kaitlynn (my apologies if I botched the spelling), was so friendly, comforting and relatable! Mandy, the nail tech serving the client next to me, was equally awesome. Both ladies also have great technique! I would gladly return to South Creek for a service from either of these ladies! If you're going to spend the money to visit Soak, do yourself a favor and go with a seasonal treatment. I enjoyed my previous ultra-hydrating treatments, but they just can't compete with a seasonal treatment! I wish that Soak posted their current seasonal treatments on their website...I can understand the element of surprise for regular clients, but as one who seldom treats myself to a mani/pedi, I want to know that I'm signing up for a seasonal treatment that I like (e.g. If the seasonal Tx featured lavender, I'd be on board; If the seasonal Tx featured vanilla, not so much...). You can find this info by researching their FB page, but it can take a bit of digging into their timeline to find out what the current offerings are. The cocktails are delicious! As I was looking through the menu today, there were several different options I'd have liked to try, but I couldn't deviate from their excellent French 775. It's literally a party in your mouth, and everyone's invited! I wish they owned a bar, too... In short, Soak is a premium nail salon in Reno and the seasonal Tx's are well worth it! As far as standard soaks go, the price point may or may not be worth the price of admission. Note: The tipping system here can be confusing. You CAN leave a tip if you use a debit card, but you can't leave a tip if you use a credit card. This was an issue when I booked my bridal party, and we all had to find an ATM afterwards to leave a tip because I had to use my CC to secure our reservation. read more

I went to the foothill rd location last saturday. The good: the greeter and the girl who did my nails were really nice. The bad: -Lighting is horrible - so bad that I'm attributing the really bad French on my toenails to it as she did a much better job on my fingernails, however.., - the quality. For a $125 gel/shellac service ($102 + tip) , I'd expect it to be perfect. It's not. Many splotches on my toes, fingernails are just okay. Lots of overspill onto cuticles. - comfort of the chairs. While my girl did her best to get situated so that my legs weren't in an awkward position, she kept sliding backwards (likely seeking light to work by) so I felt like I was going to fall out of the chair. - the drink offerings. When I was seated, they gave me a drinks menu but never took my order until the girl doing my service came to my chair. Summary. Not worth it. UPDATE -- the manager contacted me the day after I posted this. She was very nice and wanted to make things right and asked for photos. Offered to redo my pedi. The salon was dirty and run down. There were various items on the floor, towels were ripped and stained. There was no one to complete a gel polish pedicure. So I got a regular one. After two hours of drying...my regular polish was still not dried and smeared when I put my shoes on because it was so thick and clumpy. I was not offered a drink until my treatment was over. The pedicure cost 70 dollars with tip and I could have done a better one on myself. The girl who completed my pedicure was sweet and kind, but very much still learning her job. It's sad because I have frequented this place for years and I will not go back. Soak is in a ritzy area of Reno but I would recommend your local mall pedi spot over Soak. read more

I am giving Soak 3 stars only because I liked the lady who did my nails. She was very nice and personable, but not too chatty. I am very particular when it comes to nails because I'm pretty good at doing my own, so I definitely wanted a little something extra with a mani/pedi. I asked for an accent nail with stripes and a heart (next week is Valentine's Day). The mani/pedi turned out pretty ok, but for $60 plus tip I was expecting a little better quality. I went with my sis in law and she didn't fare so well. Luckily the director was there and now the sis in law getting a new manicure tomorrow. If I ever get a mani/pedi again-it won't be here. Very disappointed in my experience during my last two visits at Soak. My mom had a seasonal manicure about a week prior to our visit together and her polish had chipped and snugged so badly she just wanted a polish change-which we found out they no longer offer. So we decided to get manicures. My manicure was just ok, the nail tech didn't cut my cuticles at all which was disappointing. My polish job was even more of a disappointment. My nails smudged and have bed sheet imprints on them after getting a manicure at 3pm the day prior. My mom had the same problem. Please hire more experienced nail techs. I really wanted to love my experience at Soak cause I enjoy the environment and drinks but the service was very sub par. read more

First, I will admit that I did schedule this appointment in haste. However I was not impressed at all. When I entered the salon I definitely thought it was fun. I was looking forward to the experience. I needed a full set. I was unable to get into my usual manicurist and needed a set quickly. I had heard that this place was owned by a local Judge's daughter in law so I just assumed that the service would be top notch. We're they nice, absolutely. However..... SO SLOW!!! I have never in my life had a full set of pink and whites with forms take 2 hours. I wish I would have known up front the time frame. While my manicurist was very nice, she was extremely slow. Even after I had told her I needed to get moving, the filing still took forever at a very slow pace. I'm wondering if I got the gal who just started there. Then as she was finished I asked if I should wash my hands and she said "No". I had a greasy gel film all over my hands. After I paid the bill and still gave her a 20% tip, I had a moment to look at the nails..... EEK! They were all crooked, lumpy, and uneven in length. I was not impressed. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I felt I had to after my experience today with Soak (Foothill location). I've been having pedicures a few times a year at Soak for about the past 3 years. It has been a tradition of mine to have one each Mother's Day. About three weeks ago I scheduled a pedicure for myself and my 9 year old daughter for this upcoming Mother's Day. My pedi was priced at $45-50, hers was $25. A staff member called me today to inform me that I had to upgrade both of our pedicures to the $70 seasonal pedicure. I declined and cancelled our appointments. Perhaps the owner should have had the foresight to arrange the schedule months ago to reflect the seasonal pedi as the only option. So I've already rated Soak on 2nd five stars, because it's all that and a bag of chips. I've been to this location more than once on Foothill at Southcreek.... And it's always been amazing. But I've decided to write this review after the excellent experience that my nine-year-old daughter had at her first "Soak" this past Saturday. The Little Miss Mani/Pedi combo is a real treat for the under 10 set. They get a foot scrub, hot towels, massage, complete manicure and pedicure and sensational service from technicians who prattle right along with the girls. Then there's also that mocktail that they have included. I have no idea what's in it but my daughter thought that it was *amazing*. Yay! As me and her father were looking on at our absolutely tickled pink little girl while she was enjoying getting her mani/pedi, I felt so grateful for the existence of somewhere so nice where a girl can enjoy being a girl. Aw, so the staff was very accommodating and atmosphere was pretty nice. Experienced staff (for my friends) were great. Sadly my technician was a bit inexperienced and my pedi didn't dry for 4 hours (still counting actually) and the mani is sub par. I have been going here for years so I am very frustrated and sad that I feel the need to write a bad review. I went in last week for my usual gel pedi and the service was far below the standard of service I usually receive. The pedicure was rushed and the polish was messy. When I left the owner was asking how our service was and I told her that I was less than pleased with the service that day. She asked me if I wanted a repeat pedi and I told her that just fixing the polish would be nice. When I go in for my new appointment they have booked me with the same girl which they said they wouldn't. Talk about awkward. Then she attempts to fix it with the same poor quality. Then I am thinking just don't book with her. I go to the desk to leave a tip and the front desk proceeds to charge me for the same poor service. Now I am furious! If I would have known I would be paying for another service I would have passed. Now I just spent over 100$ on a bad pedicure. I will NEVER go back. Came here for a moms day/night out with 3 of my friends. Great color selection, nice touch to have alcohol served as you relax for your pedi. I had the Signature Soak pedicure and Victoria was my technician. She was very sweet, friendly, and did a good job. I liked her a lot. All the ladies were actually very nice. I only took a point off because they are really pricey and I don't think the price is really justified.
