I wanted to love this place; the women working there were so nice! But my pedicure was pretty terrible...I think the worst I have ever had, which is many over the past 20+ years. Good things: It was easy to make a same day appointment and the women working there were really nice. Bad things: Dingy, dated, place and the massage chairs are ancient. Mine barely worked and squeaked a lot and it was not relaxing at all. Nail polish looked kinda gross; I chose not based on color so much as least clumpy, used looking polish. None of the good massage or anything that is my favorite part of a pedicure. Toes looked like they were painted by a kindergartner. i don't really know how to explain it but it was not artfully done. Fine...it was better than before I walked in. But! The worst part is that the pedicure didn't last three days before the polish started coming off- entire nails at a time, not just a chip here and there. I have never, ever had a pedicure that lasted so little time and came off so thoroughly. Highly unusual and more than disappointing. A waste of my time and money and a really sad sight for 8 days of looking at the carnage on vacation. I definitely won't be going back. read more

If you are on a schedule and need predictability, this is not the place. But mani / Pedi is solid and high quality. So in that respect it comes highly rated. Overall it's a no frills salon, leading me to expect an in and out experience. Below is some context based on my personal experience. I arrived at 9:50 for my 10a appointment. The door was locked and I tried calling several times and couldn't get a hold of anyone. And then I checked my email and realized that my appointment was changed at 9:40 to 10:30. And when I told them I had been waiting for 30 minutes they said didn't you get the notification? This is extremely unprofessional as I booked the appointment several weeks prior. Jenes just told me that they had some things going on so they changed the appointment time rather than rescheduling... The next time I came, she moved my appointment ahead by 30 minutes. But when I arrived she was running 20 minutes late... And when she finally started it was already 10 minutes after the original appointment time. read more

I've been going here for about 2 years and as a guy, it was weird at first to go get my nails done. Jenes made me feel like it wasn't weird at all and now I realized that it was a stupid assumption to begin with. Now I happily get my manis and pedis done with the most flamboyant or fun colors and combos. Soooo, I purchased the Groupon because hey, it was a good deal. A gel manicure and a gel pedicure for the price of one, seems like I'd save a buck or two before vacation. "Big mistake, big, huge" - line from Pretty Woman. You think I would have learned my lesson by now....no more Groupons TARA! First of all their scheduling is weird. I couldn't even book both together because there wasn't an opening back to back. I tried to call to see if they could squeeze in a gel manicure before or after and she said no. Fine, I'll drive all the way back to midtown another day to use the rest of my Groupon for a manicure (slightly annoyed). Also, I had to use my credit card online to reserve a space on their calendar, sketchy but ok, no big deal. Since most of their reviews on Yelp and Google seemed so-so I thought this place MIGHT be okay. This was not the case. Don't get me wrong, Lien was super sweet, what a doll. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about her. And Jenes, the owner, was lovely when I walked in. Let's talk sanitary issues. One of my toes is bright red and enflamed this morning and I couldn't sleep last night because of the pain, so now I think a toenail is infected. It literally looks like Rudolph's nose. There was no nail trimming, only minor filing/buffing with what seemed to be a dirty and used file then she went to do the cuticle cleaning and she forgot to do my left foot. I had to tell Lien that she didn't cut away the cuticles on my left foot and that my feet weren't even. There was no sugar/salt scrub or lotion massage with this pedicure and barely any buffing on my heels. The massage chair was from the 90's and made a loud squeaky noise so I didn't even use it. I was SO uncomfortable, not to mention the seats don't go back far enough for a woman who is 5'11" and the water was ice cold. I also noticed she was reusing pieces of paper towel and toe separators. Her tools were in a container labeled "clean" but she was putting dirty tools back into that case. I was so confused. Sitting there I started to notice very odd things and I got more skeeved out. I couldn't help but think this place should be checked by the better business bureau or health department. When she went to get my white polish I saw her add drops from another jar to that bottle. She opened the paint and it was so goopy and old I was surprised she could even paint my toenails with it and with that brush. I tried not to watch. When she was done I quickly showed her my Groupon voucher, tipped her cash, and couldn't wait to never return, not even for my manicure. I'm sorry Beautiful Nails but this criticism needs to be public and help give you feedback as well. read more

I tried this place years ago, I remember it was a bad experience then too. I believe they treat you different if you have a Groupon instead of paying directly, my tech at the time mentioned multiple times that she was losing money because I had a Groupon and that next time I should just pay her directly. Lien to be precise. She also told me she would not be able to put a simple letter that was included with the Groupon unless I tipped her directly. Back then I figured maybe she had a bad day, however unprofessional she was coming off. I remember thinking if it was really that much of a loss on money they should not have their services on Groupon. Forward to today, I decided to give them another try. I got the Groupon again, because they had it on sale. My friend got one as well because her birthday is coming up and we wanted to go together. I had to request time off from work since they don't do weekends. We bought the Groupon 09/06, we made the appts for 10/22 at 1:15 for her birthday. Her nail tech texted her multiple times trying to change the time because she said she forgot she had to schedule someone else that day, when my friend told her she couldn't do that d she told her she would keep the time. Last week, AGAIN she texted her it would have to be a different time. The unprofessionalism is insane, especially with how far in advance we booked 09/24. I tried reaching out to call and ask why this was happening, I also sent texts and left a voicemail and I still have not heard back. I definitely think if you have a Groupon you get treated differently. I read several reviews on Groupon saying they do not have repeat customers because of the lack of commitment to the schedule. The owner seems to get upset when people point things out and mentions they "have a life". With the amount of reviews going back years saying the same thing, "having a life" is not the problem. The problem is not being consistent with the timeframes people ask for. We will be asking Groupon to refund or for credits since they couldn't even have the decency to reach out to us to explain why the time kept being changed. I have worked customer service my entire life, constantly changing things on customers is not a good look. It makes them feel devalued and that the money they spent, whether a Groupon or not, doesn't matter. The vibe seems to be "deal with it". Very unfortunate. read more

Why one star review for Lien at Beautiful Nails ... I recently went to Beautiful Nails for a gel manicure. This was my third time going to Beautiful Nails. The first two times the technician complained about the time it took to finish my nails but this third time I had to stop the service and walked away in tears and without my nails finished. She repeatedly told me how difficult my nails were, how I next time need to book the last appointment (although while I was there in the chair she booked another appointment right after me) said she was stressed due to the amount of time it takes her(although I always show up 5 minutes early). As she was rushing through my nails and cut my cuticle and said"sorry but see this is what happens when I have to hurry and am stressed " there was a piece of nail debri sticking out of the gel and I asked if she could fix it and she said" no you should have told me sooner " then proceeded to try to fix it but was clearly frustrated and angry. Then she tells me next time don't book with me. Go to someone else. At this point I pushed myself away form the table and broke down crying! I sat there for 45 minutes being told in hushed tones(so the owner couldn't hear??) "my nails were too difficult" that she was "so stressed out" "and that next time I need to book with someone else". I did receive a text from the owner to fix my nails on the shop and sorry that that had happened to me. But throughout the text she kept making reasons for this type of treatment. I also did receive an apology from the technician but I quote " I really want to apologize to you. Because of my bad personality when I stress about something , I aways hurt people's feeling, which is to show it all out, but I don't have any hate in it anyone. I hope you understand and forgive me." I do understand and I did accept her apology but the entire situation was so stressful and traumatic I wanted to make sure I did my civic duty and let others know what they would be getting themselves into. I too am in the service industry for over 12 years but I wouldn't treat a client, friend or any human like that. read more

This salon is a little gem. Reminds me of California. Super sociable woman who works here. Her name is lien ? I believe she owns the shop. Her foot massage for pedicure is soooooo good! I never have had a good foot massage at any nail salon I've been to but she is really nice and strong hands. The polish selection is nice. Several colors and lots of designs.
