We stayed at the hotel that is connected to the indoor water park. Upon arrival we had a lot of trouble checking in. It took us over an hour to get things straight and the lady at the service desk almost gave us a room that was reserved by someone else. She still didn't give us the correct rate and my husband had to spend another thirty minutes when we checked out so that was annoying. The water park was very clean and fun. I will say that some lifeguards enforce rules while others don't. Also our grandson purchased a water canon in their store and then was told that he could not use it at the pool so be aware that toys are not allowed in the waterpark area. We enjoyed the arcade and I would suggest going between 8 AM and 10 AM when the arcade is half price. For the most part we went out and got food because the waterpark resturaunts are expensive. We did eat one day at The Swimmin' Chicken and the food was very good! Please note that the hotel can get loud as you may hear kids running up and down the halls and babies crying when you are trying to sleep. We did have tickets for the big outdoor water park but we never went to it. I would give this 3.5 stars but I am rounding up.

Parking was a little expensive at $25, but I kind of expected that. Luckily for us, most of the people entering the park were going to Dollywood and not Splash Country, so we got to park our car near the entrance and didn't have to wait long at all to get inside. Importantly, my son was free because of a pre-K voucher that they were offering, which was very cool. We started off our trip with Big Bear Plunge, and it was a pretty decent water slide. We then hit up the splash pad before journeying into the wave pool, where we spent most of our time :) My son really liked the waves! It got a little boring for me, but whatever. It was sometimes challenging to find a tube for my son to ride in (it felt like a free-for-all!) but we managed to secure one most of the time. We wanted to ride Big Bear Plunge one more time before we left, but by that time the line was exceedingly long and our 4 year old was definitely not going to wait, so we just peaced out. The food was OK but not great, as expected. I liked that they offered complimentary water for everyone, since it was quite hot. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely come back!

Then the bathrooms were horrible, I bet Dolly wouldn't use them!! I was only here because I have a 2 park season pass but these kids will not get me back to this water park. Yall can have it. I'll stick to the theme park.

Country Cascades Waterpark Resort is an extremely family-friendly hotel in Pigeon Forge. From the moment we checked in until we left, we were surrounded by friendly people who made sure my family was comfortable and had lots of fun. This hotel has themed suites for families! We stayed in one of their treehouse suites, which has two sets of themed twin bunk beds, as well as a king-sized bed in the main sleeping area. The twin bunk bed area had night lights and a TV in the treehouse nook. My kids were delighted to find a treasure hunt inside our room: a safe full of goodies that they could only unlock once they found all of the clues around the room. We probably could have spent the whole day just having fun inside Country Cascades, even without the waterpark. Inside the resort, there is a bowling alley, arcade, rock climbing wall, gemstone mining, and a gift shop where you can build your own stuffed animal. Kids' activities happen throughout the day, so there's always something to participate in. Plus, the hotel has its own ice cream parlor, pizza restaurant, candy and popcorn shop, coffee shop and breakfast restaurant. Not to mention the waterpark, when you visit during the summer months. Country Cascades is an all-in-one place to stay and play. Country Cascades has its own breakfast restaurant in-house called Granny Cluckets. There's no menu -- instead, the restaurant serves a "family-style" all-you-care-to-eat breakfast skillet, and the table shares all of the food. You're served a big skillet of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links, country potatoes, waffles, and biscuits and gravy. Orange juice, water and coffee are also part of the breakfast. One serving is a lot of food for a family of four, but if you're very hungry, you can ask for more and they will give you more. We ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant each morning, and we all agreed that it was a good breakfast. The room was very clean, and although they don't do a full room service, they do take out the trash and replace your towels each day without you having to ask. The one thing that was irksome is that the gym in the hotel is just a treadmill, a stationary bike, and a weight machine. It's very small, and also, they don't allow access to the gym until 7 a.m. That's late for a person like me who needs to rise and grind before her family wakes up! Oh well. I made do, but it would have been nice to at least have an elliptical and 24-hour access.

The scale is different but the experience is just as memorable and in some ways more personal. The coaster lineup is legitimately impressive. Big Bear Mountain is the longest in the park and a great ride for the whole family. Lightning Rod is one of the fastest wooden coasters in the world. Wild Eagle gives you incredible views of the Smoky Mountains from the top. Dragonflier in Wildwood Grove is perfect if you have younger kids who want in on the fun. The new NightFlight Expedition that opened in 2026 is a unique indoor hybrid coaster and river raft ride that works in any weather, a great addition. Beyond the rides the park has real soul to it. Live Appalachian music playing throughout, craftspeople demonstrating woodworking and glassblowing, the Dolly Parton Experience museum, seasonal festivals and theater performances at the Back Porch Theater. You could skip the rides entirely and still have a full day. The cleanliness here is consistently remarked on and it's earned. Every corner of the park is well maintained and the staff are the friendliest we've encountered at any theme park anywhere. Go on a weekday if you can, weekends get packed. Buy tickets in advance. Wear comfortable shoes. Worth every mile of the drive from the Carolinas.

I LOVE MY FAMILY!!!…read more As the Patriarch of the family, it's easy to beat yourself up and live rewinding and replaying all your past mistakes. I've certainly gotten it wrong enough times to be humbled, but also lucky enough to have gotten a few things right. So it was truly a joy to visit Sevierville with almost my entire tribe in tow: from my 36-year-old first born to my ready to take his first step youngest grandchild. My joy came from watching them all interact with great love for one another. My first three children, which I call THE ORIGINALS, were from a different marriage to my high school sweetheart. The next set of children I like to affectionately call THE SEQUELS. There is a 9 year difference between the youngest of "the originals" and the oldest of "the sequels". There is also an 18 year difference between the oldest original and youngest sequel. Between the two sets of natural born children is my daughter-in-love that I met when she was only 18 months old. We bonded so deeply that she became as natural a part of our family as if I had given birth to her myself. In this medley, there could easily be discord, rivalry and rejection... but that is not what our parental efforts have birthed. Instead we watched with emotional admiration as they all cared for one another during this amazing family vacation @ Club Wyndham Great Smokies Lodge. They not only looked out after all the grandchildren (also known as the spin-offs) with the care and precision of a lion pride, but they took time to make special moments together as well. They rode the water slides as a group, made breakfast in the fabulous fully appointed kitchens and routinely gathered for conversation in each of the three spacious 2 bedroom units we occupied. They also paired off individually based on interests and even created a SIBLING NIGHT OUT were they left the "spin-offs" with the old folks (also known as "the technicolor reruns") as they went off to experience an escape room and dinner @ The Island in Pigeon Forge. The youngest will soon be heading off to begin his Naval career and they made an extra big deal out of spending time with him, which made my heart glow with excitement. *** I TELL YOU ALL OF THIS TO SIMPLY SAY we had an absolutely amazing time at Wilderness @ The Smokies Club Wyndham. The environment here is highly conducive to quality family time. *** For the youngest in our troop, the indoor and outdoor water parks were EVERYTHING! It was good that we had so many adult eyes to keep track of them as they freely roamed every square inch of the facility. One moment they were in the wave pool, the next in the hot tub and in the blink of an eye they were standing below the huge tipping splash bucket before disappearing up the stairs to ride rafts through the twisting tubes. They even tried their skills on the wave rider before running back to our table for a fresh order of delicious cheese pizza from the snack bar. Then they were off again! Our tiniest family member spent his time chillaxing in a shallow watered area specially designed for babies and toddlers. As a parent and grandparent, it was especially comforting to have a worry free play zone for his 10 month old curiosity. The building where we stayed had fire pit patio views of Sevierville Golf Course and it was here I spent sunrise moments reflecting and thanking God for all he has given me, particularly my wonderful wife and seedlings. It was also here where my wife and I shared cups of coffee and quiet morning study time. Our oldest grandchild (8) is the least rambunctious and was thrilled to sit quietly by the fire and play his game boy as the other kids remained sound asleep in the comfortable beds with AMAZING pillows. PLEASE NOTE the Club Wyndham side of the property is roomier and much different than the Wilderness side of the property. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] There are some common regrets among those who are coming to the end of a long life: * Not giving enough time and attention to those who matter most. * Working to much and not enjoying life more * Wishing they had been a better parent or spouse. Club Wyndham @ Great Smokies Lodge is an excellent place to actively begin resolving three of life's issues if you haven't began doing so already. Didn't need to be threatened, so here we are. CHRIS - these reviews are for you! Don't ever threaten me or the good people who are there because they are owners. Clearly, I will not be going back. I have chosen to "exit" and get rid of my timeshare here. Don't need to spend more time with Sales than I do with family, and don't need to be threatened.

From checking in, to dining all the way the family activities (smores), everyone was friendly, helpful and genuinely warm making people feel welcome. Service wasn't feigned or scripted - it was real and even when it was busy, the staff took care of business. Room was comfortable and clean. Not extravagant - think Southern charm. Bathroom wasn't cramped, water pressure good and temperature nice and hot. Quiet (we had a corner room) and we couldn't hear anything. Not even when neighbors opening or closing their door. Even had a workspace if you were working while you were supposed to be on vacation. Amenities included shuttle to and from the park. Pool and Spa (didn't partake). Went to the bar/restaurant - see other review and an on site convenience store. Free parking. I'm sure there are more but that's just all that comes to mind because we were for the park. That's also in another review. Anyway - to sum it up, it's not quite a luxury resort - but a place that offers heartfelt comfort wrapped in Southern Hospitality. If you know Dolly's story, it kinda captures her spirit - warm, sincere and touches of joy. We loved our time at the pool, seeing the Dollywood fireworks from our balcony, and sunsets from the upper floor trash area at the west facing buildings (dont knock it till you try it!) Side note: We aren't owners, so I was worried about high pressure check-ins like I read about, but it was fine. Apparently 2 years ago they were bought by Travel & Leisure and changed tactics. They offered free tickets to attend an info session, I said no thank you and they gave me the keys. They have a great texting based system for updates and everything you need (like towels, dishwasher tablets, etx.) and they were super fast in responding! We had an amazing week! We did a mix of everything and it was nice being right on the edge of everything in Pigeon Forge and 30 mins from Gatlinburg. Honestly I only held back the 5th star because we did have a pretty big black bug run through, but we were on a 1st floor room, which is actually downstairs and there was a visible gap under our door that it likely ran in (we are backed up to woods, and thats what I choose to believe). I sent them a note that they really need weather stripping!

And if I wanted to be splashed like that I would have went to sea world. Again the employees were sorry, but said there was nothing they could do. The put put was a joke and not convenient to the club house for balls and clubs. The coffee is the worst!!!

I visited Ober Mountain in early January of this year and spent 2 days enjoyng activities…read more The first day consisted of participating in the fun pass, which gave us a list of activites we could do on the mountain like going to the zoo, ice skating, ice bumper cars, scenic lifts, etc. As an adult, the pass felt a little underwhelming but I can imagine a kid enjoying their time with this pass. I would recommend that you find a groupon/deal to get it at a cheaper rate rather than the usual $50/ticket they offer it for because I genuinely do not think it is worth the $50. I would definitely NOT recommend the fun pass for adults, but would for children (at the discounted price). Our second day on the mountain, we went snowboarding and that was a very fun time for my group and I. Ober has snow machines, so it is not real snow and instead is icy, artificial snow. I can imagine during the colder season, it may be softer and covered much more. I went in early January for reference. The employees are very nice with helping you strap in boots and understanding how to strap into board as well. I decided to do a lesson, which I would recommend for anyone who has not snowboarded before. Although I enjoyed my time, I do agree that it is fairly pricy, considering the size of the mountain compared to other resorts I have seen. I understand the weather determines which lifts are avaliable but the "snow" was ice, no where near snow texture. I think a day of snowboarding would cost roughly $150+ here for day pass and gear rental. My downsides for Ober are the price, the fun pass, and the snow.

It was definitely very cold, but the scenery made it completely worth it. Unfortunately, the mountain coasters were closed due to the rain turning into snow, but there were still plenty of other activities to enjoy. The only thing I wish we had gotten to do was ice skating--the line and wait time were just too long before we had to leave. Overall, it was a very fun experience that everyone in our family enjoyed.
