DONT EVER GO TO SOAPY JOES. I took my car in for my weekly wash and oh my did I get a wash! They scratched my car very bad, took the pictures and said they would get back to me. The quality of the was at this Soapy Joe location is not great. Coupled with the fact they try and sell you aggressively on the monthly wash subscription, I'm giving this location two stars. I will also mention when I arrived, they were out of clean towels. Right when I was leaving, I saw staff refreshing them, but didn't help my cause. Loyal customer let down after vehicle was damaged Review: I've used Soapy Joe's for over 7 years and even kept my membership active through COVID just to support their business and help keep them going. On July 4, after a wash at their 2658 Jamacha Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019 location, I noticed fine scratches across my rear bumper the kind of damage that happens when rotating brushes or cloths trap debris like sand or grit and drag it across your paint under pressure. I immediately spoke with the manager on site. She took photos, documented the damage, gave me a report, and later followed up with a claim number so I could track it. I asked if they had a preferred body shop I could go to they didn't offer one so I took the vehicle to a professional repair shop and submitted the photos and estimate. I gave Soapy Joe's multiple opportunities to resolve the issue. Instead, they denied any responsibility, refused to let me review footage of my own vehicle, and eventually stopped responding altogether. Very disappointing after years of loyalty. If something happens to your car, don't expect Soapy Joe's to make it right. read more

THEY WILL NOT LET YOU SEE VIDEO FOOTAGE IF YOUR CAR IS DAMAGED IN THE WASH. (Apparently happens often) You can't even request the video yourself and need a "representative to contact the incident report team". In other words, a Lawyer. You can't even SEE the footage . If your car gets damaged in the wash (Which apparently is more common than you'd expect) you WILL NOT be allowed access to the video and they will DENY fault. You'll be sent spiraling through email circles and a 3rd party incident team. Long processing. Email wait times. Playing contact tag back and forth. Dead ended. Automations. Etc... It's the old court case technique "provide so many hurdles that the people surrender". Collectively people are speaking out. This business will "refer and care" about you until you actually try to take action. They'll give you the run around. They hope that you'll give up and get lost in the red tape. This is a warning so that others do not have to go through this nonsense. AVOID. The Incident Management System is terrible. Don't just take my word for it. I am a Soapy Joes member and they have completely let me down. My vehicle suffered damage while going a washer. While going through the washer portion the wash, I heard a noise outside my vehicle but could not readily identify what the noise was from inside the car. When I parked to inspect my vehicle, I found a side panel was ripped off the passenger side door. I went to the front office to report the incident. They paused the washer cycle, retrieved the panel, and helped me file a claim. Soapy Joes accepts no responsibility and had the audacity to suggest my panel was loose. They also informed me they will not share the video footage either. After reading several reviews, it is clear this is very common place. I am canceling my membership and exploring what options I may have. read more

Some where between not useful and horrible. I come monthly ish, and the service has just been on a ski slope of getting worse. First: Paying. It starts with a prompt to do a monthly subscription that is not intuitive or friendly to by pass. Even with automation, a clerk comes up to prompt. The last few times "do you have a scan card?" "are you on a subscription?" I'm not sure if this is prompted by management, but repeated asks to subscribe are annoying at best. Second: the actual wash. No matter if I get the low end or high end wash: the car comes out needing a complete wipe down to get dirt off, even on flat, accessible services. Light dirt, road junk, - it's barely cleaned. The tire shine? ¼ of the tire is almost shined, if that. Rims are not even clean surface level (I get that nothing can get into the spoke area). The water in the machine is so hard it leaves water spots on windows with the characteristics of cement. Finally, the vacuum area. Multiple problems. First, they're nearly always out of towels. Second, multiple machines down. Some machines are down enough that employees park in them. Third, parking spaces on the outside area are so close you risk door dings trying to get in your vehicle. Fourth, it's like a hang out for Uber/Lyft drivers during slow moments. They're just sort of camped out. I've gotten done, gone to the grocery store, went to another store, and several are still parked there. Not cleaning, just, you know, doing nothing. For a 20$ one time for the full boat, it's bad. Even if a subscription makes the per time cheaper if you use it often, the work you have to do to clean up after they clean up, and the hassle of trying to find a place to vacuum, the empty towel racks, ect - make this a borderline horrible deal. If it weren't for the fact this saves water and doesn't go down storm drains, it'd be a complete waste. read more

A nice location with a good amount of vacuums right when you come out of the wash. Grab one of those if you need to vacuum!! I was notified after I pulled into the lower row of vacuums that none of them work. There's no signs at all about that so then I had to wait for an opening to quickly grab a vacuum up top. Always appreciate the feee clean towels to use. The worker gave me two air fresheners which is nice since mine is already losing its fragrance. I'd come back here again since it's so close to my work but bummed about half the vacuums not working. read more

I've had car wash memberships on all 3 of my cars for the last 7 years with this soapy joes. My mirror cap was ripped off in the car wash today. I had to go find someone to try to retrieve it. They found it and handed it back to me and said nothing. I attempted to pop the casing back on to cover the exposed wiring around the inside of the mirror. The casing is scratched up and bent and will not go back to its original position. I was not very happy and drove home figuring I would call and speak to a manager. Called once I got home but the phone only answers to an AI assistant. You have to go in person to talk to someone or report the incident. I drove back to the car wash. When I walked inside a young woman asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I said either that or I wanted to fill out an incident report. The woman who came to help me was the same woman who retrieved my mirror so she knew why I was there. I told her I was trying not to be mad at her but was really not happy that no one asked if I wanted to complete an incident report or helped me assess if I could put the part that was ripped off back on. She told me it's in their policy that they can't offer to assist nor can they offer if you'd like to complete an incident report. I told her I thought that was horrible customer service. I completed an incident report and canceled the three monthly car wash memberships our family has with this business. I asked if there was a manager on site and the woman said she was the assistant manager and that she'd be the one helping me. Long story short take your car washing business elsewhere. I've been a member there for a year, and every time I go, I almost ram into the person in front of me. The operators often don't particularly care. Today, I drove through and when I parked, a large piece of my car was missing. I asked for the people working to look for it, and they did find it-- the workers were excellent and smart -- but I don't think a carwash should rip pieces off of your car. I canceled my membership. The car wash takes your car in via rollers and a rail for your wheels. You don't have to be nervous. There's an attendant that guides you. It's your average carwash. It does it's job. It won't totally clean your car. The brush that swipes at the top of the car just kind of wipes away the dust, sand, and loose dirt. The jets spray off a little more, but you'll have to wipe the dried up bird poo off yourself. It's quick and easy. You get an air freshener. There's vacuuming and towels to wipe down your car. A truck ran into the back of me inside the wash tunnel. For whatever reason, the track stopped, the truck behind me was not in neutral and he slammed into the back of me. Soapy's blamed the Tesla in front of me which doesn't make any sense since I had no damage to the front of my car. Soapy's will not let me see the the video and they told me they have no responsibility inside the tunnel. Somehow they think I need to get a lawyer and sue the truck behind. Ummm where to start. I guess I couldn't expect much from a drive through car wash. I usually go to soapy joes in National city. This one barely had bubbles that covered the car, and the water didn't drench my car. It also felt very fast. Didn't really wash my car. I feel like it just smeared dirt all over. I probably won't come back. I'm surprised at the quality of this soapy joes. I used to have a membership here but canceled because the price is not worth the quality. Today, I figured I'd stop by real quick to get a basic wash. I went to six different stalls and gave up on finding a working vacuum. I also went to five different stalls to try and find a single clean towel. I drove around countless times to find a stall open that could possibly work. Needless to say, this will be the last time I give this place a shot. If you're going to increase prices, maybe have the bare minimum available in the stalls. read more

POPPED MY TIRE WITH NO REMEDIATION! Saturday, I went through for a basic wash. The person guiding me in gave me the thumbs up and handed me a car freshener, then told me to put my car in neutral and foot off the brake, as I did. Then middle of the wash, my tire pressure monitor went bonkers. Immediately depleted to 0. At the end of the wash, once the green light said GO, I put it in drive and went to the first vacuum station that was open. As I was driving in, I could tell my tire was at 0 as my monitor said because the drive forward was slanted. Got out and immediately saw my front drivers side riding on the rim of my wheel. I walked over to where about 5 employees were standing goofing off- and told them the car wash popped my tire. They said they would bring out a supervisor. The supervisor took forever to come out. He said, "I don't think my wash would have done that I will check my cameras then come back to discuss". Came back, said he didn't see anything in the car wash cameras and this was "highly unlikely". But I told him he can see my tires full when I went in, and it completely depleted coming out. He said he would bring out paperwork and once I fill it out I would hear back from them on Monday. It is now end of day Wednesday and I haven't heard a peep from anybody at Soapy Joes. I filled it out and asked do I leave my Jeep here unaccompanied, because at the bottom of the page it says the vehicle cannot leave the premises. He told me I can indeed leave, that they are a BBB rated business and take care of their mishaps, or I can get a tow truck but it would be on my expense- then proceeded to tell me that I needed to move my vehicle for 'other valued customers to use the vacuums', then offered for himself to change the tire because I "look like [I] don't know how to change a tire". Weirdly sexist. I do, but this shouldn't be me fixing a companies mistake. So I watched him try to change my tire. He couldn't figure out how to properly lift my Jeep, and he used a drill to operate my jack stand which was too small and caused my jack stand to grind down the metal, ultimately hindering my jack stand itself. At that point he couldn't operate it, and then a customer nearby offered their jack stand. 30 mins later, he finished changing my tire with my spare then told me he might not have tightened the bolts very tightly and that I should "be careful driving". My new tire needs to be paid for by this company. My jack stand needs to be replaced. I deserve more than to be ignored, or told it's not their fault like his original story. read more

This carwash js absolutely horrendous. I have gotten stuck inside of the actual wash tunnel at least 7 times. Today they shut it down because of issues and I'm just over it. The quality of the car wash location is subpar at best. I'm often leaving the wash with soap still on my car. Considering they keep increasing their prices all the time I will be cancelling my membership, $40 for unlimited washes a month is astronomical considering the poor experience and quality. Soapy Joes is sadly coming one of the worst chain businesses available. And for the people who say just go to another location, agreed and valid point, however the next closest one to me is about 20 minutes away. I can go have a complete detail and hand wash done once a month that will last longer and pay about $36. read more

Conveniently located, great vacuums (for stubborn dog hair in the carpets), and very helpful n friendly staff, and the value is affordable. What would make this place so much better is if the water pressure was better to blast off bird poo that's not even a full week old. I find spending too much time going over those areas I greatly feel the wash should've caught, and this is every time I go.
