This place doesn't keep up their machine or property. The car wash components don't work. The employees are young and incapable of repairs. He literally told me that the non working components aren't supposed to move. There was a woman who was vacuuming and the hose came from the top of where it was attached. I left and drove to Santee which ISN'T more convenient. Very poorly ran location! read more

Soapy Joeeeeeee I like to wash my car 1-2x/week (don't ask me why I don't "check in" more often) the workers are younger at this location , I like to see young people making money for themselves. They are always in good spirits and tentative to any needs you may have if you are not used to how it works. The location specifically always has towels wash's and ready for use. Location is rarely backed up, so you won't wait often for a vacuum spot after the wash. The bays are like over sized parking spots so you won't be so close to other customers cars you can't open your door. You can get a one time wash but I like the monthly membership perk of being able to drive up and the reader scans the bar code they place on your car and it lets you right in. (As many washes as you want) sometimes they give out free swag bags with towels and extra air fresheners which is cool. Theres 3 monthly options 25,35 and 40$ basic to full package. I rated four stars because sometimes the vacuum fittings are stuck in the holder because they have fallen off. Also because my rims are off set which makes me rims stick out slightly more than a stock car so if I don't place my car right it will scratch the rim (risk I take) could be fixed in house I feel like. I can touch up my rims so I do not stress it so much. My old membership also included tire shine but that was hit and miss sometimes I had zero tire shine and other times I had tire shine on my tire and rims another thing I feel like can easily be fixed in house. (But I downgraded my membership because of it) But again I can deal with these things, I mention this stuff solely for the purpose of future customers and why they mite want/need to know. I absolutely love this Soapy Joe's location! It's always clean and well maintained. They have plenty of vacuums available, and the best part is...they actually work! The staff is super friendly too; the guy who helped direct my car into the wash had a great attitude. They also keep lots of fresh, clean towels stocked which makes it easy to finish off the details after the wash. Everything here runs the way it should, and it's obvious they care about keeping the place in good shape. I'm also a big fan of the subscription, it's so convenient! I just pull up, the system scans the barcode on my car, and I drive right in. No hassle at all and the price is very reasonable! Especially having a black car, I get a wash at least 2-3x a month. So worth it! This is by far my favorite car wash spot. Highly recommend! read more

The photo below say it all. usually employees on a phone, eating or talking with each other. in most cases you see their backs, no greetings. few hoses already broken to clean inside the car. usually no wet cloth available due to laundry issues. trash bins full of waste in most cases. but nobody cares. unpleasant experience. read more

If you arrive within an hour of closing, be prepared for frustration, they stop cleaning towels, so there are usually no clean ones available to dry your car after the wash. Expecting customers to use dirty towels is unacceptable, especially when those towels may have grease or residue from tire rims. This creates a real risk of smearing or damaging your car's finish. I paid around $17 (the middle wash plan) to have my car washed and waxed and the result was awful like I barely washed it. I asked one of the staff to have a second round wash and instead of fixing my issue, they want me to start a membership to have it washed as many times as I need. It's a scam! I paid them to have a clean car not to go wipe the stains myself and sweat in the sun when I was getting ready for an event. The towels were super dry that you use to dry the car with. The vacuums didn't even work and disconnect from the hose when you pull one out. People also throw them on the ground so you can't even park normally without having to get out of the car to remove the vacuum hose so you don't drive on it and break it. People who come here are savages and just leave the vacuum hoses on the ground. I left the place so irritated and I regretted coming here. Some vacuums did not even work or have suction after I parked in the spots so I had to try and park again each time to find a better vacuum. All this with a child in my car in the heat. It was a very stressful experience and I would never come here again and highly don't recommend it. It's a waste of money and energy, given their attitude when you report an issue they are not even willing to fix it and compensate. read more

I stopped by the Soapy Joe's on Second Street in El Cajon because I was nearby and my car was overdue for a wash. I went with the $13 single wash--it's a bit pricey, but it gets the job done. Overall, this location is okay, but there are some frustrations that keep it from being great. My biggest gripe is the towel situation. At 7:30 AM, shortly after they opened, they had virtually no towels available. When they do have them, they're always damp, which seems to be an ongoing issue at Soapy Joe's locations. On the bright side, the vacuums here are super strong, and that's a huge plus for me. While my favorite location is off Mission Gorge, this one is a convenient backup option. --- read more

This brand new Soapy Joe's Car Wash is smaller than most, but it works. The entrance and exit are rather close to each other, so I actually entered in the wrong way, but it all worked out. I arrived early so there was not much of a line so things went smoothly for the most part. They only had one of the two kiosk open at the time. The lady at the front of the line helping customers was nice. My vehicle went through smoothly thru the car wash with out a hitch, and the automated system did a good cleaning the car. The Vacuums were fairly good. They could of used a little more suction power. Nice neighborhood car wash. read more

My husband has gone to a Soapy Joes one time before this and he loved the experience so I was excited to check out myself. I went yesterday and the line moved pretty quickly, at the pay area there were attentive team members helping patrons, the line does split in two, so once we scanned our code and we waited a bit until it was our turn to queue up. Once we got into the car wash, an associate came and gave us air freshener, I love that it smells like berry. Then we were on the track, which moved our car along towards all the cleaning mechanisms. I've only ever done a car wash like this once so it was fun, I think my pups would get a kick out of it. After we vacuumed the inside of our car and wiped down the interior with the towels. For $20 a month for unlimited car washes that is a great rate. I normally pay $14 every two weeks on a car wash. If you sign up for their membership it's only $1 to start, please note that this was the latest promotion that they had. read more

I have been here one time prior to this time. No issues then This times, everything started fine. Almost made it out when the track malfunctioned. Took about 10 mins to get me out. Once I was out and pulled into vacuum stall. I saw the blowers at the end of wash did not work, I had to towel dry entire suv. When I got to rear of my suv I saw all the soap that wasn't rinsed off. I just did an incident report at this location 816 N Second St El Cajon. Been a customer a long time, this vehicle is a newer model I had no issues prior. The machine was too aggressive with the pressure it was applying on my vehicle and I was stopped mid wash they told me to put in drive I don't know if this had anything to do with it but be careful. If they fix my bumper I will return as a customer I understand machines don't work the way they're supposed to all the time but if you damage a customers vehicle I would assume you would fix it if not then I'll stop recommending and coming here!! read more

AVOID! BAD DEAL - BAD WASHES Hey, I get it! $20 for unlimited washes sounds like a great deal! Unfortunately, you will be forced to use the provided semi-dry rags to buff the FILTH off of your car after the wash. Seriously, the water purification process does NOT work and the cars come out gross. Every time. MY EXPERIENCE I went multiple times over the course of my month membership thinking they were gonna "fix" the water problem. NOPE. BETTER OPTIONS Gas station drive thru washes. There's quite a few other places in the vicinity of this Soapy Joes that are better. MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION ISSUES I have tried to cancel my membership 3 times! They continue to charge my credit card and I have to dispute the charge each month. WHY TWO STARS? This place is so awful already, and it just opened. Packed, tiny parking lot. Everything is broken and the car wash doesn't even clean your car that well. It barely even touched on of the sides of our car. So expensive for such a terrible wash that left tons of gunk on the window, didn't wash all the soap off, and didn't even have many functioning vacuum stalls or clean rags to wipe it down. read more

This location is new and kept very clean. I got the Magic Joe wash valued at $20. I find this a little on the expensive side for this type of wash. There are competitors that offer $7 a wash for the same quality. Another gripe was with their "clean" towels. They were all damp, so couldn't tell if they were clean or not. I don't blame the staff, which were really nice, as customers could have thrown the used towels in the clean bucket. Both the clean and dirty bucket are clearly labeled, so I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt on this one. The vacuums worked great and were relatively clean. I've been to some washes where this wasn't the case. Also, I received a wash one day before random rain in San Diego and they wouldn't offer a complimentary wash as other competitors do. All in all, it was a good experience, but a little too pricey for return visits. read more

Please teach ur employees logic. I pulled up The other car was waiting with the bar up they were fixing something on the payment machine and the customer wouldn't go. Obviously my bar wouldn't go up because the other bar was up. After waiting 2-3 minutes I honked nicely (soft) and the team member told me it takes turns (really!!!) duh!!! A solution would have been have the other customer move forward get the car washed and don't waste anyone's time. Or come and manually open my bar so I or anyone else doesn't waste time. read more

I live out of town and was getting my father in laws car washed, so I didn't want a subscription. They were kind enough to give me a complimentary wash! I would probably subscribe if I lived in the area. Car was pretty clean after and free vaccum was great. They were busy (maybe 6 cars ahead of me in line) but it was mid day on a Saturday so that's to be expected. I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more
