During my visit today I purchased 2 pairs of trainers Hoka Bondi's and Brooks Adrenaline for my daily walks grab a few tanks for around the house while shopping. Naomi helped us and was wonderful very knowledgeable of the shoes I was looking at and the ones I wanted more information on. This particular location never disappoints when it comes to quality active lifestyle gear and clothing at a reasonable price and as a member the rewards come in handy when making such purchases.

Today I tried again and was immediately told, without checking, that the store did not have it. The employee was dismissive and rude when I asked about the online listing showing stock. I then spoke with a manager who was also unhelpful and dismissive, implying I was not being truthful and saying they had never heard of this issue. I've attached a screenshot showing the online stock information. At minimum, customers should be treated respectfully and given accurate assistance.

The sales floor was full of merchandise, employees were readily available for assistance, and the check-out process was smooth sailing. I did need to ask an employee where to find athletic wear as I needed shorts for the gym. Not only did they answer my question, they walked me over to the appropriate area of the store. Most places nowdays simply point to where merchandise is located. Not Cabela's! What a great way to go above and beyond in customer service. The selection is similar to what you would find at footlocker, but there were additional colors and options for the whole family. What makes this location unique is the the half sized basketball court in the back where you can shoot hoops and play with your family, the treadmill you can run on to try out your new shoes, huge screens showing ads and sports events, and a digital scanner to measure your feet to make sure you get the right size. The overall size of the store and volume of products is like no other location in the world.

I purchased a pair of Brooks sneakers from Bear Creek Running Company in Keller back in January. I…read morewill say this upfront -- they were probably the most comfortable sneakers I've ever owned. That said, in less than 90 days, a hole worn through the toe area. Full disclosure: I do walk about 36 miles a month. I went into the store and showed the damage. The two young men working there at the time were twin brothers. They actually suggested I use duct tape to cover the hole. Honestly, hearing that regarding a $145 premium pair of Brooks sneakers was pretty shocking. My wife had given me Mark, the owner's, contact information. I called him, and to his credit, while he was not too pleasant on the phone, he did seem concerned. He asked me to come back to the store on the day he was going to be there and said he'd work something out regarding a return or credit. When I arrived at the retail store to return my torn sneakers, a nice young man named Jonathan helped me. They didn't have another pair of Brooks available, which honestly I was hesitant to buy again anyway after this experience. He then brought out a pair of black New Balance shoes that were actually more expensive than the Brooks. I explained that Mark had said they would work something out regarding the torn sneakers. Jonathan walked to the back, spoke to Mark, then came back and told me they would only give me 50% credit -- and they had to keep the original shoes. I asked if I could at least keep them to use as yard shoes since they were only offering half credit, and he said no, he could not do that because they would be returning the shoes to the manufacturer. So I declined the New Balance shoes and left. Here's the part that really stands out: I called Brooks customer service directly. Patrick R., a Brooks running specialist, simply asked for the numbers on the tongue of the shoe. No photos. No argument. No hassle. Brooks immediately agreed to send me a replacement pair based purely on customer service and standing behind their brand. What truly bothers me is this: The store most likely could have returned the damaged shoes to Brooks themselves and received full credit/replacement exactly like I did, yet they only offered me 50% credit while trying to steer me into a different, more expensive shoe that wasn't even close to the style I originally purchased. Mark, here's a little advice:When you operate a local retail business in a community like Keller, Texas, and you carry premium brands that stand behind their products, your store should do the same. Shame on Bear Creek Running Company for the customer service I received. People deserve to know the difference between a company that stands behind its customers and one -- Bear Creek Running Company -- that doesn't.
