We started Soccer Routes in January with our (just turned) three year old. We learned of the program from a friend whose son had started the program and gave it a glowing recommendation. We have been impressed with every aspect of the organization with the most important being the coaches. Coach Olivia is a natural with this age group. Even though it is a parent and me class she quickly recognized our son did not need us to be in the activities with him. She guided us how to support while giving him the level of independence he was ready for. It's only been six weeks and we can already see so much growth in his balance, coordination, and ball control. Even more important ... he has a smile on his face the entire time! The ratio of coach to child for our age group is almost 1:1. I also witnessed Coach Xavier helping to bring a child into the class who was having a hard time. My child has participated in over 10 different soccer programs in the Valley. I can easily say Soccer Routes is the best program. For the past year, we've done four of the 10-week Soccer Routes weekend classes, two of the summer camps as well as the league play on weekdays. Most people's ventures into SOCCER begins with signing their kid up for AYSO and see what parent coach ends up being assigned. That's how we began. Immediately, with little to no training the kid is thrown into a game, with parents yelling from the sidelines and has to figure it out. While some kids thrive in this setting, it can be traumatizing for others like mine. They freeze - overwhelmed and dis-regulated by the pressure and parents yelling. Then some of us form the conclusion, "well, I guess soccer isn't his / her sport." That is why if anyone asked, I would suggest Soccer Routes first off, as the best program for cultivating the technical and tactical skills, as well as the confidence and resiliency. If our kids were interested in painting, we wouldn't have them do a mural with an audience critiquing them while they picked up a brush for the first time, right?  HERE IS WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE SOCCER ROUTES PROGRAM: 1. The ratio of coaches to students is better than any program I've seen. Personal attention means form is being corrected, feedback is being given in a supportive way, if a child is down on themselves - the coaches can support them immediately without stopping the class because there are multiple coaches in small classes. 2. The Quality of the Coaches: Going through multiple sessions means that I've seen the variety and I've also eavesdropped as new coaches are training. There is an emphasis on both the technical skills, tactics of the game but also creating an emotionally safe environment. The coaches I've witnessed are passionate about the game but also passionate about emotionally supporting the kids.  3. There is a Path for advancement: They provide different levels of classes, so if your child isn't being challenged, they will suggest moving them up a level. In this way, the program can grow with the child's abilities.  4. The founder is more than an Entrepreneur: he personally trains each staff member and is monitoring classes to make sure the philosophy is being implemented. He roams around when he isn't coaching and is keeping a look out for anyway to help. My first experience with him, was when my child was having some big feelings and wouldn't go on the field. Adam saw this from 400 feet away, despite not being the class coach, he came up to my son unprompted and started teaching him a soccer trick. Within a few minutes, my child forgot what he was upset about and was back integrated in the class participating fully. I haven't seen this personal attention happen in some of these large corporate soccer programs because often they're not resourced to deal with kids in a personal way.  5. There is a curriculum: Sometimes they'll start with something silly and fun like tag, and then introduce the ball into it. In this way I noticed that they were using "play" as the foundation to teaching specific skills, slowing building up into a more complex drill. There is an emphasis on growing each player's skills from the ground up, so that they can have the confidence in scrimmages.  6. They have a code of conduct that requests Parent's don't enter the field and do not yell or shout at the kids: Immediately I noticed a difference in my child's confidence and performance when there wasn't the distraction of Adults yelling from the sideline. Instead, the players get a unified voice from the coaching staff that are offering tips, freezing the play to explain a concept, or offering accolades.  7. I trust the Coaches: This allows the coaches to form a bond with the children. They can feel the love from the coaches, and take their notes and suggestions and I don't have to worry about what I should say or coach after the game. 8. They understand how to respond to emails and run their business so that you are informed of what's going on and plans. Some organizations can't handle email and take weeks to reply Conclusion: Some kids are naturally gifted at a given sport or thing and some are not. That is clear. But we wanted to replace this conclusion in our child's brain with the idea that if he wanted to do something, and practiced and learned, he could improve and get better. Sounds basic enough, because this is how we as adults approach learning anything academic. But we needed this to be demonstrated to our son through repetition and practice in a safe and supportive environment. In our experience over the past year, Soccer Routes has provided that place and program and he has flourished. Does he still get intimidated by some of the truly amazing players? Sure. But, I'm grateful we have the professional coaching staff to help navigate these inevitable hurdles in life. read more

SR has been great for our kid. It is local, convenient and offers him/us a chance to see where he wants to go w the sport. I cannot compare to other organizations as we have not participated in any others, but when we couldn't get him into other spots with other organizations - SR was there for us. We are always greeted w a smile. He does technical skills on Sunday and then he gets to put them to more use with League, a newer program that they have added. End of the day - I love that my kid is playing and enjoying himself. I love and support Coach Adam's ethos that his organization is focused on fun and skill over competition. I also appreciate their stance on badgering helicopter parents - just friggin enjoy the fact that our kids are OUTSIDE and getting exercise - OFF their devices. If you want competition, then go seek that elsewhere, or use that as an add-on to SR's offerings. I saw a rant from one parent below - who tried to insult SR w a one star. Clearly, he was not a good match for SR. Coach Adam is really working to build the kids confidence and enjoyment of the sport. If you dont like his focus, then go find another opportunity for your kid. he is not shy about his ethos. if you dont like the food - then go somewhere else. pretty easy! Knowing what I know about the folks who run SR, I think that parent was just not a good fit for this program. So, do your own diligence people. if you are looking for a safe an fun place for your youngin' to get out, exercise, learn about teamwork, learn some skills and prep them for the sport as they grow - I think SR is a GREAT option. read more

We started soccer routes with our little guy back in 2022 and it's been so incredibly beneficial so many ways. Soccer skills being the most obvious, he's become so much more confident in the game. I love that they spend the first half of the hour focusing on drills and training before having them engage in a game for the second half. There's usually 3-4 coaches per group which gives these kids so much individual support to fine tune their skills. If your child is feeling shy or having a hard day, one of the coaches will stay with them to help get them comfortable to get on the field. They encourage the kids to look out for one another, pick up your friend if they fall down, check in on a friend if you see that they're nervous. You get so much more than a regular soccer class. Your child will leave each class with more confidence, empathy towards others and awesome soccer skills. We love Soccer Routes so much so that even after moving further away this year, we happily drive an hour out of our way to continue their program! They are the best of the best! read more

Our son has been attending soccer routes for almost two years now. It was a struggle getting him motivated at first, since he began when he was just 3. He was only going once a week on Sundays, then we signed him up for private lessons when he turned 4. Coach Brian has been his head coach on Sundays and his private lessons coach as well. He is the most patient, calm, nice but firm, and the perfect coach for our strong willed son. He pushes him and our son has been phenomenal! It was not easy in the beginning, but you need to trust the process! Kids don't just become great overnight, and while our son play so damn well, he has more room for growth. Pandemic hit our kids hard, mentally and socially. While we saw some inclination from my son playing soccer, pandemic definitely caused disruptions on his social development. I had my son here for 2 seasons. The first season I was not happy so I gave a chance and took my son to the next season. They did just the same. Nothing new. Honestly, $500 is too expensive for 8-9 sessions and the coaches I saw don't play soccer at all. At least the coaches I interacted with. How much you can learn from them? Soccer is a very technical sport. I had the chance to see the other classes for older kids and mostly the same. Most of parents are not aware about this because maybe they are not that familiar with the sport. But for that amount of money I think they should do their best to hire coaches more involved in the sport. My son's coach missed a shoot 4 yards away from the goal. We all laughed even the other coaches, the kids and the parents. Anyways. I think it's a rip off and all they care is about making money. If you ask the parents they will tell you the same. My honest opinion. If you want your kids learn how play soccer for real there are other clubs in LA. What is amazing is that they always let you know that the season is about to end in 2 weeks and rush you to join for another season. I talked with other parents and they think the same. I think they take advantage because soccer is starting to be popular in America and parents are not that familiar with soccer. Kids won't learn here. The couches don't play soccer. This sport is getting very popular and even more that the World Cup will be here soon. There are other more serious clubs here in LA where your kids can actually learn technically and mentally. It's been a great experience for us. The coaches and organizers have been so nice and supportive with English being our daughter's 2nd language! Coach Lexi would use Google translate and it was fun to see them convening on the field. Our 3 year old daughter started her 2nd session with Soccer Routes and scored her first goal during practice and drew her first cheers from the parents and coaches and smiles around. They've also moved to a flatter, grassier, and pet-free field at Walter Reed Middle School which is better for soccer. Too bad they removed the benches under that roof. We enjoyed the soccer course; we signed up for 12 weeks. All enrollment and staff were professional to deal with. However, my son was scoring goals and his team was winning the practice games most weeks. One-week some parents commented my son was very good and made several other comments (he is a natural athlete, and this was his first-time having soccer lessons). From the next week-forward the STAFF stopped my son scoring goals and made sure his team did not win but mostly drew. My son lost interest and refused to go. He is naturally very competitive and wants to play hard attacking every ball. Why not? I'm not sure if it is a sport strategy for children to learn not to win or just draw games but anyway, we stopped attending after about 6 weeks as my son wasn't keen to have most of his goal attempts blocked by adult coaches. He is only 7! I have since spoken to other sport coaches who say this should not be done as it is a de-motivator and goes against fair sport participation. I really cannot thank Coach Adam enough. My sister put me in charge of training my nephew in soccer and for some reason he never really seemed to grasp anything I said. I used google to find the best alternative and that is when I was lucky enough to stumble upon Coach Adam's company. It has been 3 months and my nephew is not only a much better player, but he seems to have matured in all other aspects of his life (his grades have gone from the c- range to B+-A-) which is challenging because he was diagnosed with ADHD. I am a father who loves soccer and appreciate everything the sport has given me over the years and so naturally I wanted to introduce my son, Jack, to the sport as soon as possible. I was a touch worried that he was too young to start soccer when I first enrolled him into soccer routes at age 2, but each child is carefully placed in a class to match his/her level and each child can develop at their own pace without any pressure, but with ongoing encouragement. I'm glad that I started my son's soccer journey early and I'm very pleased that I chose Soccer Routes although my decision was an easy one as soon as I spoke with Adam as his commitment to continue to develop the leading soccer program for kids/toddlers in LA shone through. Nobody else I had spoken with prior to this even came close to his level of commitment, enthusiasm, and knowledge. I felt Soccer Routes was the obvious and most natural fit for my son given my passion for the sport. Since joining the program ~1 year ago it has only impressed me with its dedication, routine/structure, and organization and the experience has been everything I hoped it would be for my son. In addition to developing soccer/co-ordination/motor skills, there are clearly benefits for a child in terms of discipline, listening, following instructions, and socialization/being part of a group.
