Though having the appearance of a quality experienced staff, in 2 seasons we've seen zero quality in growth, technicality, knowledge of the game, passing, strategy, set pieces, positions and I go on. They glorify the individual selfish play of individual's. I highly recommend looking elsewhere, now having played these other clubs, Albion, Rush, etc...you'll be better off.

The coaches really kept the kids moving which is something my very active keiki needs. Likewise, the keiki always had the option to take a break in the shade, as needed, but most of them wanted to continue playing even during lunchtime. Ah, the exuberance of youth! Each day of camp, there were two coaches plus a third adult who was stationed at the shady rest area that helped with the check in/check out and was there to watch over any keiki taking a break. My just turned 6-year-old attended the Winter Camp 2022 at Central Park (aka Patsy Park) with coach Beau. He found coach Beau very amusing and excitedly shared with me some of the jokes and games after camp each day. It seemed like the perfect balance between learning skills, playing scrimmage and just good silly fun. I did see my son build confidence and have better control over the ball by the end of the week. Most parents drop off but you can come and go as you please with the kids playing in the open field and the coaches utilizing the shade during the hotter parts of the day. You will need cleats, a ball, lunch/snacks and plenty of water. Most parents dropped off their kids with that huge 'chugger' water bottle. Initially I heard of this from a Yelp event that I didn't end up going but I ended up signing up anyway! Thanks to Yelp and the CM for introducing this fun activity to some Yelp elites. Coach Javier and other coaches / assistant coaches are amazing! They're all very engaging and fun, and funny lol. I very much enjoy watching my son with the other chickenheads running around on the field! #iykyk I can't verify but another mom told me the coach and some if not all assistants are professional soccer players, so it's not like they just grab a random college kid and put them to coaching. We meet every Saturday at the Ma'ema'e school. There's another location toward east near Aina Haina. It's a nice big field that has occasional short showers but it's never heavy heavy rain, at least so far in the season. It's our first time so initially we didn't extend the season with the extra 5 lessons into December. But after seeing how our son enjoys it tremendously, extending is a no brainer! Good job coaches! They treat all the kids fairly with no one getting left out. They encourage everyone to participate and if a child's attention is diverted from the activity then the coach calls the child by name and pulls them back in. Small colorful cones are set up to learn ball control. Larger nets are positioned for kids to kick the balls into. Coach creates fun games which are challenging but with a sense of lightness. The head coaches are clearly professionals and knowledgeable about the sport. At the end each child is gifted a small treat which makes it even better to top off a fun workout.

For a brief moment I enjoyed joining a 5K and 10K walks/runs and with that I had no idea what type of shoes is for me as many recommend what is the best somehow it jut never really worked for me though the stability and comfort is what many brands to encourage they have my feet just says differently. There are moments when packet pick ups was here at the Running Room and with that I always somehow never leave without purchasing something as they just have so many items besides shoes and socks and the perfect location on Kapahulu with free parking does make it an easy place to shop as well and on this sad to hear of its closure did take me by surprise so I just had to pay them a visit and I guess many have known about it as basically majority of their inventory has already been sold. Luckily for my larger sized feet there was my size left though the color situation was sparse understandably I did find one that looked promising and decided to get my very first pair of Hoka. I haven't treated myself to a brand new shoe in years so it felt like a cloud but being cautious since my legs hurt the next day. Not exactly sure when their last will be but glad to have given them one final visit and hope that the future will grand for this part of Kapahulu. Thank you!

808 sports league is a great opportunity for coed sports while socializing with different people…read moreyou haven't met and making new friends. My co-worker invited me to join this league which I paid $70 (early registration per person - it can be $80/person) for Fall 2017 coed volleyball. In Spring 2018 coed volleyball was $800/team for early registration. We had close to 9 people or so which everyone was okay paying. $87/person. Created our own team after we made friends with people and recruited more. Based on only knowing my coworker, they randomly put together my team of 13 people. Through this process, you can make friends from your team as well as from the other teams. I don't know how they decide placement of people, but I actually made friends (at least 7 people) with two opposing teams when we go to the bars after the games. Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 coed volleyball was sponsor by Champs (Sports bar) and Rock Bottom with other beer company (Pacifico and Corona) as these places give us discounts on those beers. I like Champs (Sports bar better) since they have more games and really good food. They always alternate each week of where the post-games are at. The regular season each in fall and spring had two "themes" and my team chose Power Rangers for "hero week" and "America" for "team week" A great way for people to be creative with their "theme" custome. Some teams will dress up prior to match and play in uniform or gym clothes We all got a shirt and each team is represented by a color of the same shirt. Wear your shirts if you want to get the sportsmanship score. It can be used as a tie breaker They allow selfies and the winner gets a $100 tab at a bar based on most people in the selfie, which my team only had maybe 4-5 at one bar and the rest is just 2 (my coworker and me), which we sometimes do selfies or photos with other teams. I wouldn't mind joining other sports this league offers such as: kickball, flag football and dodgeball. 2017 is their 10-year anniversary which our shirt from volleyball mentions. 2018 they went back to the style they used in past of what sport you're playing and what season and year on it. At least this league has some friendly people and some competitive, but it's mostly about having fun and meeting new people and socializing. They have playoffs which half the teams qualify for and if you win, money is donated to a local charity that the winner decides.

And after all those years, talking about 808 Sports Leagues and the kickball (and other sports) leagues they put together has never gotten old, especially trying to explain to tripped-out bar-goers on a Monday or Wednesday evening in Varsity or Rock Bottom why there are over 100 people walking around in off-beat, fluorescent or downright bright shirts ... Stranger/Future Kickballer: "So ... kickball?" Me: Yes! There's a league. And I'm on a team. S/FK: "I haven't played kickball since elementary school!" M: .... (Don't worry, we know every one hasn't. :) ) S/FK: (looks out over the sea of forest green, "WOW" pink and KOC blue shirts, among the many colors) "So, how many people are playing in this league?" M: Well, there's 24 teams, about 15-20 people per team, so you're looking at about 400+ adults playing kickball weekly. S/FK: "That's a lot of people. So, you guys have rules and everything? The red rubber ball?" M: Yup. Pretty much the same as schoolyard rules, except no one gets picked last, nah mean? And we even got playoffs and championships! S/FK: (looks around at the bar again, tries counting how many different color shirts) "So, you guys play, and then come out to the bar?" M: Yeah - it's all part of the experience. 20, 30, 40-somethings playing kickball, then chilling out at the bar. S/FK: "I'm sold. Where do I sign up?" ... Unfortunately, by the time we hit the bar in our red/green/blue/pink/orange/yellow/safety green shirts, rosters are closed for the season and you gotta wait to sign up for the next one. Hey - relationships have been started and blossomed over the game of kickball - when's the last time that happened at a pick-up game of basketball?
