We got the Lap Mei, which stated it would take 18+ mins, and it did, because I like the crispy rice from the stone pot. For the most part, the portion was generous. Rice was a bit plain, they should've provided some kind of hot sauce at the table in case I wanted to spice it up. The chili oil wontons were decent, but more peanut butter than chili oil. Chicken feet were surprisingly good, the sauce was tasty. And my boyfriend got the beef stew with biang biang noodles and he said the beef was tender, the soup was tasty, and the noodles were good. What I liked about this place is that all of our food came out fresh and hot. Service was okay, I felt like the people working there weren't mean, but they also weren't very friendly. Food hall with 3 mini restaurants and some entertainment options for kids. This review is for the curry chicken cutlet served by Social Eatery. The chicken itself was a little dry and rather thin, but the curry was delicious, and the rice was well cooked. The potatoes were the perfect vehicle to soak up all the curry sauce!! This particular curry was more Malaysian in style, don't expect a Cantonese or Japanese curry. It also came with 10-12 leaves of raw spinach on the side, which was kind of a strange addition for me. My boyfriend and I opted to order the cucumber salad, chili oil wontons, cumin lamb noodle, and classic beef stew. The food here is very authentic- as expected of Millbrae. I liked the cucumber salad, the chili oil wontons are very pork forward. If that's your thing, then definitely give it a go! I've been here in 2023 and I was here again a few days ago. I really enjoy their variety of drinks and food out here. You can tell it's authentic by the number of Asian folks you see out here. I absolutely loved their mango sago tea - I've always had it as dessert and I really enjoyed it. I also got the katsu chicken noodles - the broth was spicy and flavorful. Stopped by for lunch and ordered a variety of things. We tried the beef noodle soup, clay pot rice, lamb cumin noodles, pork and shrimp dumplings, and cucumber appetizer. The beef noodle soup was too sweet for our liking, but the beef was pretty tender. The lamb biang biang noodle was our favorite dish across flavor and noodle texture. The clay pot rice was pretty small for the price, and the crispy rice at the bottom was a bit soggy. Two for one sounds good. How about three for one? Well, one visit here basically can become four reviews. Social Eatery is the building/business that houses three food and beverage themes. The three businesses here are Rice Monster, Noodleosophy, and Grapeholic. I don't know whether they are independent of each other or run by one group or owner. Judging by the separate websites, it seems to be three separate entities though. We stopped her after an event across the street on a Sunday evening but they were closing as I reached the door (a lady staff person was flipping chairs on the tables before they mop the floor) right about 8 pm. We ended up going across the street to the dumplings and noodle place instead. Two evenings later, we arrived earlier, a little before 6 pm on a Tuesday late afternoon. We were seated at the 1st booth style table along the right side of the dining room where there were three other tables with customers already dining. Parking was very confusing at first. It was a pretty dead night or maybe we were there early for dinner. As soon as we walked in, we just went to a table and seated ourselves. But the waitress did check up on us frequently to ensure we were doing alright and she was very pleasant. Helped us with getting extra bowls for the kiddos. I ordered the unagi bowls and it was good. Interesting food court of sorts. They house Noodleosophy, Rice Monster and Grapeholic; without the speed of a food court. You have to wait for a table before you can order, which can definitely take a while since the space is quite small. Then you order from a tablet once you're seated. Everything is on one menu, so it's not a clear distinction which of the places you're even ordering from. We had the Unagi bowl (advertised as taking 18 minutes), which is pretty standard, but I liked that it came in a clay pot so you can scrape off all the crispy rice. Beef noodle soup we had was pretty good. Choice of ramen or rice noodles-- the ramen noodles we chose were pretty thick, definitely more like udon noodles, so I didn't care for that much, but did enjoy all the crispies floating in the flavorful soup (I assume crispy shallots/garlic type things). There's also a completely vegetarian soup option which is nice, and you can always add on more vegetables/meats to your soup as well. (1) Noodleosophy - the beef tendon noodle soup was rich and flavorful, while the accompanying noodles were perfectly cooked and chewy - providing a great mouth feel to the dish. The dumplings were delicious as well, and were a nice addition to the meal as a whole. (2) Rice Monster - the cha siu and steamed egg clay pot rice was in a single word - satisfying. The salty-slightly-sweet cha siu paired well with the mild flavors of the egg, and the salty soy sauce you pour over the rice. I will say the rice could have been a little more scorched to provide the accompanying crunch that you expect from this dish; however, if you're really craving claypot rice and are in the area, then Rice Monster will definitely help satisfy that craving for you. (3) Grapeholic - the cotton candy grape slush was amazing - true to it's name it captured the cotton candy grape flavor in a delicious slush form that was both sweet and refreshing. The grape and lemon tea was also good; however, the lemon flavor was a bit overpowering and made it difficult to truly enjoy the grape that was in the drink. If you want grape to be the star of the show, then I'd recommend getting one of their grape-centered drinks instead. Nice place right next to the Dylan hotel, they aren't open for breakfast and can look a bit deceiving since the door facing the street is locked and looks a bit unkept as the entrance is actually near the parking lot. Ordering is through a tablet which you can also pay the tab right after you order or you can keep adding more food. We were meeting our family for a quick bite to eat and the place has several different signs confusing us whether we need to order from each like a food court or we can order a bit from each on the tablet. We got to order everything in on menu and got chicken nuggets (like popcorn chicken), fried chicken breast, beef noodles, and fries. The chicken nuggets were quite small in portion size, it came with a sweet chili sauce that was really good and not so spicy. The chicken breast was actually quite large, it came with a ranch dip which went well with the chicken nuggets too. Fries were straight cut and crispy, it was pretty good and came with ketchup. Beef noodle was ordered with mild spice, still pretty spicy unless you mix the chili thoroughly so you don't choke on a chili flake. And we added a hard boiled egg and extra noodles. For drinks, they gave us a jug of cold water and you can order warm water with a server since it was so cold outside that day. I also got a less sweet, dairy free, milk tea mochi and boba tea, I didn't ask for ice but didn't expect the drink to be so thick and warm. It was still good but filling! Social Eatery in person is definitely a lot better than to-go. We opted for the meal for two which allows for two appetizers, two entrees, two drinks, and two fruit for $56. For apps, we went with the classic crushed cucumbers ($6.99) and the curry fish balls ($5.99). For such a warm night, the crushed cucumbers really hit the spot. These are really just marinated with chili oil though and I definitely prefer the ones that include ample minced garlic. The curry fish balls were interesting because it wasn't in the traditional yellow curry. It featured more of a laksa-esque flavor. The curry could have been a tad thicker just to coat the fish balls better but it was also nice drinking the broth after too! For entrees, we tried the chicken and mushroom clay pot and the beef and tendon noodle soup ($16.99 each). The clay pot was really tasty. The chicken was marinated almost like that of chicken bao. I also really enjoyed the light ginger undertones throughout. The clay pot rice itself could have been a tad more crispy and I thought the soy could have been a little more salty but generally it was good. A shake of white pepper also really would have hit the spot. As for the noodle soup, it was chocked full of beef and tendon bites. I really enjoyed the thin noodles in this dish specifically! For drinks, I got the standard grapeholic ($7.25) and bf got the fruit tea ($6.75). Both were very refreshing. For dessert, it was fruit...and you just grab it from the basket lol. We stopped by on our way home from the airport and am impressed by the three vendors to choose from and the addition of the foosball table. First we ordered the dry lamb cumin noodles - these wide and long noodles came with delicious lamb, onions, and broccoli. We also ordered the Lap Mei clay pot, which wasn't as impressive; I would order this again. The Pure Grape drink was to die for, especially with the recent hot days. First day of Vacation! Saw this and decided to stop by and check it out! It was very pretty as we came inside, very clean and very well organized! One thing I was Immediately disappointed by was that there was no waitress at all. We were set to our table then given a tablet to order. No kind waitress to talk to or ask questions. I was very displeased by this. I ordered the Chicken and Pork Ribs and, wow, Wow was it good! With one Really bad exception. Most of the meat had bones in them, some big bones, and some bones that could have been a choking hazard. I don't know if that's a normal thing for small bite sized meat pieces, but it wasn't pleasant. Overall I'd say it was very mediocre. The taste of the food definitely saves it, but lack of any employee interaction unless if you actively get up and ask them, and how bones are left in their meats, even when they're so small, holds it back for me personally. read more

Super cute place to hang out. But the food we ordered was okay. I tried the chicken and pork ribs and for $17 I expected more. I didn't get to take a picture because by the time we received our plates I was starving and ready to eat. There weren't a lot of people during the time so I was wondering why our order was taking so long. But seems like all the noodle orders were coming out faster. So maybe next time I'll try their noodles instead. read more

Our favorite thing was the beef noodle soup with the river and had pulled noodles. The noodles were perfect text her and the piece fell off the rib bone. It was really tender and surprised us. From Worst to Mediocre: Worst: service is terrible. -Hostess brought us to a dirty table. Didn't clean it until she had dropped down the first two dishes and we had to ask her to clean the table. - when she brought the third dish, we had to then ask for small plates to eat the food. - she returned and set them in from of one person to distribute. Ambiance: Loud from people noise but worse, surrounded by sleepy repetitive lounge jazz music. Hockey game in corner of the room right by the table we sat at Food: so so.
