Not surprised that the Tempe outpost of one of my favorite places, EVO, was also a home run. This is a hidden gem on the outskirts of college town. I wish I had a place like this in college! Gorgeous interior and thoughtful menu, mostly Italian inspired. Some of the EVO favorites made it to this restaurant like meatballs and although you won't find pizza, you will find whipped feta dip- DO IT! This dip is light and delicious and served with fluffy pillows of pita. Well curated wine list and great cocktail program (again not surprising). A huge shout out to Dom and the crew for accommodating our large party for a birthday this past weekend. Service was stellar and everyone enjoyed their time. My wife and I both agreed that there was something off and the pasta tased like dirt. The chicken was the best part. My partner had the Crispy Chicken Burrata, but it too lacked flavor. Where to begin on this place. My girlfriend has a degenerative spinal condition and utilizes and walker. She cannot use stairs. Thankfully, this facility has an elevator. However, my girlfriend really wanted to experience this place, so she slowly painfully made her way up the stairs with my help. It was exhausting for her. Anyways, we walk inside and are immediately accosted about whether we have a reservation or not. I politely told the lady we did not, we weren't aware we had to make one. She then told use that we couldn't get in without a reservation and told us to leave. She was very rude to use. My girlfriend is disabled and just that evening had earned her masters degree from ASU. We made reservations for a busy Saturday night. The ladies at the front were friendly and immediately greeted us upon arrival. This place is very classy and beautifully decorated inside. The bar area could do without a flat screen, but I know that's very common at most restaurants these days. Bohdan was our server, and he didn't miss a beat. Either did the other wait staff who were quick to refill our drinks and clear our plates. I ordered two appetizer options which were the perfect amount of food. Diablo beef tips: Garlic mashed potatoes, tender bite sized beef tips swimming in a spicy cream sauce. Balsamic Brussel Sprouts: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and so delicious! Attempting to book a reservation was met with the awesome $25 per person pre charge so we said we'll just roll the dice and try for a table after our show at Gammage. When we arrived it was fairly empty and so super thrilled thinking no problem. However, the hostess informed us that we wouldn't be able to be seated due to reservations till around 7:30(it was 5:30) but she said the bar top only is open seating. Well since no one was at the bar we lucked out and took a seat ordered some food and just chatted for about 1-1.5 hours. The vibe was nice and the bar top was really cool, had a very dark prince the singer feel. We started with the croquettes blah and then the pesto shrimp! Oh man that was amazing and would definitely get it again. Had not ordered a pasta dish anywhere in awhile and it was perfect. Full of flavor and just absolutely one of those dishes that when done right hits on all fronts. Not sure I'll roll the dice on the bar top again but besides that a good food place that is clearly not for you if your unwilling to make a reservation since when we were leaving there were tons of open tables. read more

I normally love coming here.. the atmosphere is great and I've never had service issues before, which is why this visit was so disappointing. Myself and two friends came in for dinner after a stressful week, expecting the usual pleasant experience. Unfortunately, our server, Makayla, was rude from the start despite us being friendly and polite. After our drinks were dropped off, we waited nearly 10 minutes without a check-in to place entrées, and our glasses sat empty the entire time. We finally had to stop her as she walked past to ask for refills. Several minutes later, we watched her serve other tables before returning, and when she did, the refill was the wrong drink. When we politely corrected it, she seemed clearly irritated. We're not the type to complain to management. at the end of the day we come here to enjoy a meal. but this experience was frustrating enough to mention as an FYI. We will likely request a different server next time. On a positive note, the food was still very good. read more

I really liked this place the first time around but when I came in this second time, it really left me feeling extremely disappointed, if you wanna be gaslit then come here. Lack of flavor and also lack of good or even passable service. Really disappointed how the restaurant addressed my disappointment about the meal. We had the same server as before and he was fantastic the first time but this second time left us feeling appalled and disappointed. To start our meal off, we got the grilled caesar salad, which was good but when it came time to order, we ordered the mushroom pasta and asked our server about the Diablo shrimp pasta. See, last time we had come in, the diablo shrimp was an appetizer which came without noodles and we enjoyed the flavor extremely. When I had asked him what happened to the appetizer, he said it just turned into a pasta and that it was the exact same, so I had ordered it, excited to have it again but when it came out it was a big disappointment and there was a difference as well. Last time, I couldn't get enough of the sauce and we had ordered extra bread just to make sure we got all of the sauce but this time the sauce was different, more lemony and watery (lacking flavor) maybe and not enough garlic and shallots like last time, as well as the fact that it very much just slid off the noodle and didn't provide much to it. I brought this up to my server, which I never send back a pasta but I knew that this was wrong because I really loved the appetizer last time but this time it was barely passable. He informed me it was the exact same and offered to bring me SPOONS to scoop the sauce with the pasta... He made me feel like I was wrong and second guessed myself, as well as didn't address the issue or offer to make me another. It was really appalling actually, to gaslight a customer. I gave the pasta to my boyfriend since I really didn't care about it and I had already tried sort of sending it back and that didn't work. I ended up eating the mushroom pasta, which was fine but later that evening and onto the next day, I had the absolute worst stomach pains of my life. I'm not sure if I had gotten a mild case of food poisoning but it was not fun. Overall extremely disappointed in my experience with the server and the food. read more

I came in 6/29 around 9pm for a reso we had. Our server was a great and had no issues with her, as I know kitchen/food/management issues are not her duties. I got a steak and added shrimp. The steak came with asparagus and scalloped potatoes. The potatoes were cold, and I let the server know. The fired another order, same issue when this second order came out. In my experience it is whatever they are keeping the potatoes in (holding temps) are off. No manager came by and left our server to fend for herself. She gave me a 25% discount on my food. Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday evening before a comedy show next door. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor and overall ambiance. We did not have a reservation, but were seated immediately. I ordered The Floor is Guava drink, my friend had her standard Lemon Drop martini. Both drinks were good. To start we had the Whipped Feta Dip. Super delish and would order again. Only callout is we were told several times how good and rare the honey was they used, but the amount they used was HUGE. Not at all in proportion of the feta dip and I felt bad we had probably over a full cup of rare honey that was going to waste. For our main dishes I ordered the Creamy Lemon Lobster Pappardelle. I haggled internally over the $36 price but it came so highly recommended by our waiter I figured YOLO!! My friend ordered the Pasta Alle Vodka and added chicken. Our waiter really raves about the chicken we had to see what all the fuss was about. Service was slow here, but I think that's done a bit on purpose so you can relax and enjoy. When we were ordering I did let our waiter know we were seeing a show next door and he said he would get the entrees out right away. They came out about 25 min later, which was fine time wise. However, we were both really underwhelmed. I was so disappointed in the sauce on my dish. Lemon and goat cheese are both strong flavors so I expected this sauce to be very flavorful! Totally opposite. Almost no flavor and was not creamy at all. In fact it was super runny like they had added water to cut it. I will say the amount of lobster in the dish was good. The quality of the pasta was amazing (they make all pasta in house) but none of that matters if you don't have a good sauce to pull it together. I will say their chicken is delicious, but my friend was also underwhelmed by her dish. We doused both with salt and pepper and made our comedy show on time. Not sure if I'll be back to Society. While the atmosphere was nice for $150 dinner (2 people) I feel like I could have definitely eaten something more tasty. read more

I had the pleasure of dining here last week. A fan of the Old Town Scottsdale location. Now a fan of the owners newest concept in Tempe located right next door to a comedy club. Perfect date night, girls night or dining venture. Even a nice wine bar. I am impressed with the decor and the vibe of the venue. I had the pleasure of enjoying the happy hour menu which had many tasty choices. I love the variety offered at EVO because there is something for everyone. I went for pasta but ended up taking on the Southern Crispy Honey Chicken Sandwich. It was super tasty and came with some massive lightly seasoned fries. My friend ordered off the main menu and got a salmon dish with shrimp. She is loved everything including her cocktails. The service at both the bar and table was perfect. I forgot the ladies name who served us but she was the owners assistant who was helping out. I will definitely be back to try some of the other impressive items listed on the menu. A couple things I will point out. The price point is reasonable. Definitely affordable with nice portions m. Something you don't see these days. They have a large cocktail menu with options during happy hour. Parking is in a huge lot so that is not an issue. read more

Came here for the first time and had no idea the main menu starts at 6pm and runs till 1am. Was hoping to get pasta but they only had their happy hour menu. We got the hummus which was okay. We had a reservation and even though we arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation on Saturday night, we were seated right away. The server seemed a bit cold, but that was his personality. The service was great as our water cups kept getting filled and our server kept checking on us. The food was very yummy! I ordered the Pesto Pasta and it was amazing! As soon as my dish arrived, the entire table smelled very aromatic with basil and parmesan. It was also the most filling dish anyone on the table has ordered. My husband ordered Pound O' Mussels, and it was spicy and good. The other couple shared Truffle Fries and Scallop Risotto, and they said that the scallop risotto was amazing. Stumbled upon this place on a Friday night during a very short overnight trip to Phoenix. Cute and trendy interior. Relatively quick and attentive service by some college students from ASU. Cool ambience, modern decor but unfortunately that's where it all stopped. Went with some friends yesterday, Father's Day, to enjoy some drinks and food. We managed to get our drinks in and one appetizer before Happy hour ended. While there was no major delay on our drinks, we realized 25 mins later that the Whipped Feta Dip that we ordered still hadn't come up. When we inquired with the server, he told us they were short served, there was no chef in the back, he basically came in on his day off to help, he had no clue what was going on. He was going to check in on the appetizer and when we asked if we should order any additional food, he hinted that we should go elsewhere. We finally got our feta dip and literally 10 mins or so later, another guy comes to our table with feta dip and shrimp ceviche and we inform him that's not our order. He appears completely confused then just sits the dip on an empty table and eventually picks it back up and returns it in the kitchen. Another young lady came to clear our table and when we explained our disappointment, she basically told us that they are never busy like this and she wasn't even supposed to be working that day. No one seemed to know what was going on. Why did it take us asking 25 mins later on the status of our appetizer to find out there was no chef. Of all days, why wouldn't a restaurant adequately staff for a holiday like Father's Day?? I know things happen that are beyond our control but it's how you handle the situation that makes or breaks a situation and this establishment handled it all poorly. We left hungry and very disappointed and if I'm being honest the feta dip was mediocre. I do not plan on returning. Sad that this is a new establishment.
