Thinking what was provided at my initial diagnosis and what I was quoted, scared, stressed and worried is putting how I was feeling about my predicament, lightly. So, strapped for what I thought was going to be close to 5 grand (Yes, that's what the other shop quoted me) and a LONG list of work that was advised "Needed" to ensure my vehicle ran properly, I became worried that I wouldn't be able to drive my car. So, I searched for somewhere who could work with me in what I actually needed and came across MPB Auto Repair. I called and spoke with Tony (I'm sorry if I misspelled it!) and gave him the rundown. He agreed with a few issues (brake pads was #1) and two other items he will address next week. Once I left the business, I felt a sigh of relief. I didn't feel played or taken advantage of. Juan never rushed me and explained things in a way I understood. I appreciate him and his staff. I just got my brake pads done today and next week, he will complete the other items. The owner didn't mention ay additional charges. When I went to the shop , the owner told me I need to pay additional $40 dollars for oil recycling which is not mentioned on the groupon website. I told him I can accept the charge and I need the receipt with the $40 additional charge to follow up with groupon about it. The owner said I am not interested in the deal anymore and asked me to leave and get a refund from groupon. I also noticed the owner increased the break fluid flush price on groupon from $160 to $240 after I left the shop today. It's a really bad experience for customers that the owner can change his mind and reject the service. Update for owner's review below "a vehicle that is directly not covered in the advertisement" , groupon adversisement doesn't mention any special vehicle price. After the owner told me to charge additional $40, I was confused and later accepted the charge while telling him to get the receipt for reference then I can follow up with groupon. After that, the owner refused to do the service. I guess the owner don't want his practice to be exposed to groupon. The owner could have listed the additional charge on the groupon website in the beginning to let customers be clear about all the cost. They were upfront about pricing, didn't try to upsell me on anything unnecessary, and got the work done quickly without cutting corners. You can tell they've been doing this for a long time and actually care about their customers and their reputation. What stood out the most to me was how honest and straightforward they were.
