    Coogler's Auto Repair

    (228 reviews)

7:30 am on a Thursday in Santa Rosa…read more.. My truck broke down on the way to make a delivery... AAA towed it (and me) to Coogler's on a recommendation from a friend who knows these guys. Stressed? You know it! Concerned about the work that would be done and how long it would take and what it would cost? Absolutely! Who isn't stressed out when their car breaks down, and they're going to a new auto mechanic??? Greeting me in the lobby were three of the nicest guys who just got into work and were in a better mood than I was... Things were looking up already... Jeff was my repair coordinator, and he immediately put me at ease and let me know that they would do everything they could to get me back up and running ASAP. I quickly booked a rental truck and Ubered to the rental location to get it and bring it back to swap the goods and get back on track. One of the technicians (Scott maybe?) helped me make the swap (above and beyond? Yup!) Quick communication on Coogler's part with some texts and emails told me they had found the problem and were on the case. Estimated time to repair? End of today or tomorrow at the latest. That's fast, I thought... Good news too because I've got more deliveries coming up. 'Tis the season... Fast forward ~4 hours and I'm getting a call from Jeff telling me my truck was ready to pick up (pun intended). What?!?!?! 4 hours and it's done!!! Got back to the rental shop, got one of their guys to take me back to Coogler's, and was back in my truck at 1:30 pm. Since then, a couple of genuinely concerned calls and emails asking if everything is still going well with the truck. Normally, when I do business with someone, they only call to ask if we can do more business. This was actual follow-up and quite refreshing. Will I work with Coogler's again? You bet I will! And if you've been looking for a dependable auto mechanic who's going to do a good job of both fixing your car AND being pleasant to work with, you should too!

    Oilstop Drive Thru Oil Change

Did my oil change and transmission fluid here, and it will be my last time…read more The technician told me to fill my tires to a certain number that I knew wasn't right. I tried correcting him multiple times and asked him to double check, but he dismissed me and insisted he was correct without even checking. I turned on my car and my tire pressure light immediately came on. I let another technician know, and instead of helping, he also dismissed me and argued with me for several minutes. I ended up checking it myself and showed him that what they had written down and filled was wrong. Only then did they fix my rear tires. No accountability, no apology at first--and the technician who made the mistake was laughing in the back. I had to point out that simply acknowledging the mistake and apologizing would've gone a long way instead of arguing with a customer who clearly raised a concern multiple times. Eventually they apologized, but the whole experience felt dismissive and unprofessional. It honestly felt like I wasn't being taken seriously. I've since seen another review describing a similar experience, which says a lot and you guessed it, it was women customers sharing the same concerns. Never coming back.

I sent my daughter out to get an oil change as she was overdue on the car I let her drive…read more I'm sure they rubbed their hands together and grinned that 'just a girl' was there. And she paid out the nose for that, too. She okayed one of the oil additives after being pressured (never, ever do that, people, it's bullshit) but they charged her for two, she didn't catch it, and a simple oil change ended up being over $150. I hate to say this, but that's much more than the Honda dealer and I guarantee the oil filter that got put in her car is a three dollar special.
