I went to Peet's for an oil change. One of the few additional items they checked on my car was the tire pressure. The pressure was low in all the tires. I corrected the problem, and I enjoyed a smoother ride home. They clearly went through a list of the items they checked. They are friendly. The cost was $77 for the service on my 17-year-old Civic. They've always been very honest and not try to sell me shit as a female that I did not need just to make a buck. Just the opposite in fact they returned money that they were in no way out of pocket for charging but they wanted everyone to be happy and so they returned it unnecessarily I believe. I can't say enough good about my experience at Peet's garage!!! I've spent years trying to find a good mechanic and left garage after garage feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. At Peet's I got great service with an explanation and at a great value. My van had an ongoing issue that the dealership was happy to charge me tons of money for without ever fixing the problem. The sound the van was making was getting worse and worse and became outright embarrassing. We finally got frustrated enough and had a break in the schedule. I took the van to 3 places. The first recommended a second that was a 30 minute drive away and the second, without touching the van but with certainty, told me I needed a new engine for $8-10k. When I questioned his method and asked if it could be anything else or if he would do anything else to dx it, he shot me a look of disgust. I was pretty unhappy about that. I finally found Peet's and Sean took the time to come out, listen with a stethoscope and poke around. He told me what the issue could be and went over what he would do to diagnose it. I was impressed with how he approached the vehicle and communicated his thoughts. I was happy to bring the car back and pay the 2 hours to investigate. Lo and behold the van is running great and no more sound. And my son was able to see the difference ego can make in customer service. read more

This is definitely a late review. I had some car trouble a while back after having Manly Honda replace my key battery. When I returned to my car, it wouldn't start. I called my regular mechanic but they said they wouldn't get to my car for 2 days so I started looking on Yelp. Peet's had good reviews and was available right away when I called. I towed my car and later that same day they were able to diagnose the problem. My ignition wasn't recognizing my key! I called Manly Honda and sure enough they didn't put a piece back into my key fob which caused my ignition to lock. After picking up the part, Peet's put it back into my key for me and my car started right up. Such great service, fast, and honest. Just costs me a diagnostic fee (which I made Manly pay for) I have gone back since this day and have had nothing but great service. I would recommend to anyone looking for decent and affordable mechanic work. read more

I have an older car, it's a Toyota forerunner, a 2000. I've kept it going for a long time. Had it since 2008. Put almost 200,000 on an engine that had 160,000. I had a great mechanic, but he went out of business because of Covid 19. I looked around for another good mechanic and I found this place. So far I've only worked with them once. But they're working on my car again today. I consider myself a pretty good judge of character. They're good hard-working honest people. So if you need a mechanic I highly suggest you go here. I am so incredibly glad to have found Peet's, through a friends recommendation. They are awesome and honest mechanics! I had a stalling problem with my car that was ongoing. I took it to another shop locally (same shop I bought the car from), and they had "fixed" the problem several times, at several hundred dollars each time. The stalling issue kept happening, and last time I took it in to the previous shop they told me it would be another $600-1K to fix the issue! I decided it to drive it away and got the recommendation to go to Peet's. At Peet's they not only diagnosed what they thought was the issue faster then the previous shop, but said they would have it fixed within the day, and for half the cost of the previous shop!! When I got the car back...it ended up having the same issue and I about died, thinking my car was a true lemon. Peet's treated me really well when I took it back and told them it was still doing it--they ended up driving the car a bit more and finally caught it stalling in the act. They called to tell me that the part they had just given me was defective, apologized for the error, and fixed it with a special order part same day. The car has been running great ever since! Super customer service and nice guys all around-they've got my business...and probably a fifth star in time. read more

They fixed my brake lights, but when I got my car back the left blinker was no longer working, a problem I didn't have when I dropped it off. they were very helpful and fixed the blinker without hesitation. The big issue was that I found a pair of pliers and a few other spare parts under my hood just resting on top of my engine manifold (thank god I noticed before they fell onto a belt or something worse). It's an easy mistake to make, but it's one that could have really damaged my car. I left a message about this but never received a callback. read more

The most comfortable garage I have taken a vehicle to outside of my hometown in Ohio. I grew up taking cars to my best friend's dad's garage. Peet's had the same feel. These people are friendly, funny, and don't jerk you around. They made me feel comfortable by asking me questions about myself and genuinely cared about not just my car, but about me as well. I took in my Xterra because of a flashing SES Indicator light and an engine misfire. They tinkered around with it and the X is running better than ever. They even went as far as to reposition my license plate and my electric windows, which used to be slow as molasses, roll up at lightning speeds... two services that I did not request. All at a price cheaper than it would be at the Nissan dealership just to read the SES Light code. Did I mention that they called my Xterra a "truck." Truck sounds so much better than Light SUV. I own few different cars in the past and had all my cars serviced by many dealers and repair shops for the last 26 years, But I can rate the PEET's Garage is my top choice. even much better than my friend's garage in San Francisco. I found out about Peet's garage was approx 5 weeks ago, when my heater host was leaking like water fall just few blocks from there, I stopped there and asked for help, the mechanics named VICTOR helped me immediately and resolved the leak temporally because they were closing and they need to order the host from the dealer. but i was grateful to be able to drive back home that day. I drive a BMW 540, one morning when i started the car there was a very strange noise for the first 5 mins of the drive, without appointment, they diagnosed my car and serviced it , replaced parts and belt in 4 hours, so that I can have my car ready before I get off work to drive home, price was reasonable but most importantly, it is fixed for good ! I learned about Peet's Garage because my former father-in-law took all his vehicles there over the years. A few months ago, my driver's automatic window wouldn't roll all the way up, and whistled terribly whenever I was on the freeway. I took it in to them, and they only charged me for the replacement part since I had work done there recently. And it was fixed in 10 minutes without an appointment. I really can't say enough wonderful things about Peet's Garage! They are great and I have brought every car I've owned there and will continue to do so until they close the doors...or the garage I should say. :) They guys here are awesome. Tom and Chaun (pronounced Sean) are always very kind and helpful, and most important, they are HONEST which is hard to find in a mechanic. I always feel that what they charge is fair, and at times, I'm surprised it's not more. They are quick and reliable and I can usually always get in on the day that works best for me. My mom has been bringing her car(s) here for over 20 years, and we rave about Peet's to everyone who needs a trusted mechanic. Even my sister who lives in the east bay will drive up here to go to Peet's for anything other than just an oil change. That should say something, especially with gas prices these days. I took my car to Peet's after I noticed it burning a significant amount of oil. I didn't have any repairs done here yet, but the service was top notch. My car was diagnosed quickly, and I was presented with a thorough analysis of the problem and possible solutions. Even better, I was expecting to spend over $100 for the diagnostic, and was charged less than half of that. After shopping around between shops recommended by friends and yelpers, I decided to take my car to PEET's for a pretty pricey service. The dealership was adamant that I need to have BOTH the fuel pump regulator and dampener replaced. After leaving my car with the guys at PEET's all day, I was informed that my fuel pump regulator was not faulty and they did not replace it. Did my ears deceive me?? A shop that DIDN'T do something that wasn't required, even though they could have gotten away with it? I am now sold on PEET's and so happy to have a shop in Santa Rosa (I'm a Marin native) to take my car to. I saw there were a ton of good reviews here yesterday, called up, and made an appointment. They got me in today at noon, and it took about 3 hours. I scheduled a tune-up and a front break job because mine were squeaky. They quoted me about $380. I brought my car in and told them about a few other problems and how it ran kind of funny. They told me what they thought it might be, and said they would run diagnostics as well as check why the check engine light was on ($100 at the Ford Dealership!). When my car was done I got a phone call and they explained to me exactly what they did, and why they did or did not do it. They ended up charging me $175 after tax, and now my car runs great! I am so pleased with the service, and even though they specialize in foreign cars, I will definitely be back anytime I need anything else done! read more

I needed to get the back up light switch replaced in my car, and in short order. I have a fix it ticket that is almost due, and after reading the reviews on Yelp, and seeing how close they are to my office, I thought I'd give them a try. I stopped in unannounced in the mid-afternoon, asking if they might be able to take a look at it. They said that they needed a bit more time to finish up some of their projects and open up some space. They called me later this afternoon, let me know they had some time to look at it. I brought the car by and left it with John- he took a look at it, determined that it would be a bit more work than we originally hoped- about an hour's worth. John stayed late to get it done for me, and only charged me for the actual time he spent. By the time I got back, it was done, ready for me, and I was in and out. In conclusion? Fast, friendly, reasonably priced and fair. The only downside I can see is that it's a little hard getting in and out of their place- cause it's always so darn busy, and they have lots of cars around. Now I know why- thanks guys! read more

I was visiting a friend in Santa Rosa, and was going to drive back to Oakland when my check engine light came on. I did a quick yelp search and found Peet's Garage. So helpful and friendly. The man I spoke with was happy to do a scan to check to see why the check engine light was on. It was my evap system. He was really helpful in explaining that I would be fine driving back to Oakland, and it really would only effect my ability to pass a smog test. So honest and so knowledgeable. I've taken my car(s) here for years. They'll diagnose it and let you know what needs to be done and would be nice to do. They'll even break it down to "this you need to do for safety - right now," "this you should do before it gets worse" and "this is just an annoying sound, but it won't make things worse, so if you want to spend the $, go ahead, but it's not necessary." Or at least that is my way of viewing it. When I was living elsewhere, I paid so much more and felt like I was getting taken half the time. I've never felt that way here. Whether it's been brakes, clutch, names of things I don't remember (but that my brother said it probably was, and Peet's confirmed, so it wasn't random) or checking out a used car to potentially buy - they are trustworthy and do what they say. read more

I had a great experience with this garage. I drove to Santa Rosa from PA and had some trouble getting my car to start after a week or so in town. I went to Peet's based on Yelp reviews and was not disappointed at all. All of the guys I dealt with were friendly and approachable. I am a gay dude who also happens to have limited knowledge of car stuff. I often find mechanics to be intimidating and rough. These guys were excellent and didn't talk down to me or over my head.
