I have been taking our two cars to Bowen's for many years now. We have been happy with their work. They always advise us when finding a problem but never pressure us on getting the additional work completed. My old vehicle had an oil leak on a gasket. It leaked even after the repair. Travis took the car back 3 times at no charge to fix the stubborn issue. We will continue to come here for all our auto repair needs. I am still sore about the incompetence and hundreds of dollars I lost when Bowens returned my car in worse condition than when I brought it in. It is clear how immature and unprofessional Travis is by his response to my honest Yelp review. I am a disabled senior woman who knows nothing about cars except that I need to keep track of the gas gauge. I can't say enough good things about Denise and the staff at Bowen's Automotive. My check engine light came on and I had no clue why. I found Bowen's on YELP and gave them a try. They fit me in without an appointment and solved my problems. Because of my disability, I require a scooter because I can't walk so they helped me and my scooter get home since they needed to keep my van overnight. The service was great. We've brought our car here several times since moving to the area in 2023 for several different repairs and services. We're a family with only one vehicle so it's a priority that any work needing to be done is able to be done in one day or spread out in multiple days, bringing it back each morning and having it accessible at the end of the workday to be able to get kids to after school programs. Typically when something needs to be done, I will drop off the car first thing in the morning around 8:30/8:45 and I will go on a walk with any of my children that I have that day and work my way back a few hours later. This visit I dropped off my vehicle at 8:45am to recharge my AC (which had already been recharged at the end of last year, and I thought it was odd that I would need to recharge it so quickly), to diagnose and repair a loud thumping we occasionally get in the speakers, and to diagnose and repair no sound throughout our vehicle. They also recommended we get our hood fixed as it no longer would stay up when opening the hood. We were charged over $500 for the initial diagnostics of these items. I receive a call at 11:35 stating that a part won't be in until 3pm that day and asked if they could have my vehicle overnight and I explained no because we would need it at the end of the day to get to and from places. As I explained, I was waiting across the street with my three children for my vehicle to be done and would need it back at the end of the day they offered to drive me home so we weren't waiting outside. I was thrilled that we wouldn't have to wait outside but also wanted them to know they did not need to shuttle us home as that wasn't their job, but they insisted. In my head I'm thinking they truly are going above and beyond for their customers and they're wanting us to wait at home since it won't be done until the end of the day and I was very impressed. As the end of the day was approaching we were waiting on a call to see how it was going and never received a call. By the time 5 o'clock came around we gave several phone calls a try without any luck. I was told our car would be ready at the end of the day and it indeed was not not only that, but I was stranded home without any anyway to go check in person as my youngest is only two years old and requires a car seat, which I had no access to any. My husband and I both called several times with no answer. I kept thinking well maybe they are having a long day trying to get everything done and they will give us a call back. I was completely wrong. My husband ended up going over there shortly after getting home around 6:30ish hoping to see someone insight, but everything was closed up for the night. We unfortunately missed a family gathering with no way to get there. My youngest son has autism so we are jampacked with appointments and he was unable to attend his scheduled therapy the next morning. There was no call first thing in the morning from Bowmen's explaining any miscommunication that had happened or any acknowledge of what had happened. I didn't receive a phone call until just after 2 PM. That phone call they said they were currently working on the vehicle but didn't think they'd have it done at the end of the day and asked to keep it the following day. Mind you my car had already been there since first thing in the morning the day prior and it was already approaching end of workday the next day. I asked what exactly have they worked on since yesterday if nothing had been done yet to my vehicle and they couldn't answer that question. They just said they'd need more time but at this point, I am feeling really fed up with this whole situation. I was told the two sound issues would not be handled in time. So only my AC would be charged and the add-on service to fix the hood would be fixed. Those two repairs totaling over $1000. I've had the AC recharged through them before and it was nowhere near $1000. There was no reimbursement/credit for the other diagnostics that were unable to be done/finished. The worker stated I'd need to be at the office by 5pm to pick up the vehicle if I'd like it back end of day or pay in advance and they'd leave the keys in the vehicle and lock it if I had a spare pair of key. I was not comfortable paying in advance after such experience and I kept repeating that I'd have no way to pick up the vehicle as I do not have a second vehicle and I do not have a way to transport my youngest child. I would need for them to come back and pick us up and take us to the shop where I could pay in person or I would have to wait until for my husband to take an uber when he gets home later. They agreed to come after lots of arguing. I get plans change but there need to be communication and accountability. This was honestly the worst experience I've had yet with a mechanic. Walking away having spent over $1500 to recharge our AC and repair our Front Hood Struts in two FULL work days is absolutely insane to me. We will not be returning. read more

One of the big challenges moving to a new area is finding providers of everyday services that you can trust. Everybody needs doctors, dentists, house cleaners, handymen (women) and automobile service shops. Fortunately Yelp is here to help. I needed and oil change and scheduled maintenance on my car, so I put the request out on Yelp for a quote. Four local shops responded and I chose Bowen's based on their strong reviews and a fair price for what I needed to get done. I scheduled my service for the following week. I showed up at the appointed time and was taken promptly and hung out across the street for a little over an hour until service was completed. Work was completed as promised and all systems were checked. They even added a few bolts to the turbo heat shield and made recommendations for other maintenance that needed to done in the future. The car was returned sanitized and COVID precautions were observed. I happy to have found such a great shop to take care of my vehicles. read more

I had service done mid December 2023 for general oil change and tire pressure sensor, as I was going on a Road trip. They upsold me some new shocks, (I knew it needed to get done anyway so I said go for it. It came out to be somewhere around $1800 for the job.) I went to pick it up and turns out the technician smashed my spare tire cover. They said they'd remedy it, by ordering a new cover. its now 2/15/24 and I'm still having to play phone tag back forth between Desiree(office manager )and Travis Bowen(owner) to get a replacement. read more

This was my second time getting repairs done at Bowens and they're always so great. After getting overcharged for poor work at other shops Bowens is always my go to. They're able to quickly get me in, honest with quotes and what is absolutely necessary versus what I can hold off on for now if needed, work is done quickly and efficiently. I had my water pump replaced there last year, and just recently got my cam shaft sensor replaced. Car has been working perfectly and the staff it so nice! I've been in search of a trustworthy, good mechanic in my area for quite a few years now, with no success. I decided to try Bowen's with a little bit of a gut instinct, that they may be a good shot for me to continue taking my business to. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I was having trouble with my early 2000s Mazda protégé. It would stall at a stoplight, however, if it was in neutral or in park, it wouldn't stall. I am no expert, however, I do know how cars work. I've worked on my own car for years. Unfortunately, I am currently disabled and I don't have any tools or a garage or an area to work on my car at all. I did hook up, a code reader to my car because the check engine light was coming on. The reader said that the car was running lean so I checked do usual suspects, I checked to see if there were any holes in the air intake, and that the air intake was sealed. I ran a fuel injector cleaner through the fuel, in case, the injectors weren't atomizing properly. I cleaned the mass airflow sensor. Unfortunately, I had no idea what was causing the problem that was continuing to happen no matter what I did. I suspected a sensor, but I had no idea which one or where it was located. So, I bit the bullet and took my car to a mechanic. I was very descriptive as to what I had done and what I had checked. When the mechanic called me to tell me what was wrong with my car, I was informed that the engine mounts were worn, and that this was causing the engine to move enough to crack or pull out the air intake. Well, this is a completely and utterly ridiculous statement. There's no way that unless it was completely uncoupled from the chassis of the car, that an engine would move enough to crack or pull any hoses, loose or out. The other problem, was that there was, in fact, a sensor that had gone bad, and supposedly a cracked air intake. I checked the air intake myself, I did not see any cracks, however, it's a possibility I missed something. I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that one. But saying that the motor mounts are causing the engine to move enough to cause any damage to the hoses or air intake is so Inane and insulting to my intelligence. I don't doubt the motor mounts are worn, it's a very old car, that's not going to cause the damage that was making my car stall. I believe it was just a sensor, but again I could've missed a crack in the air intake. The cost difference between the actual fix, and the fix to replace all of the motor mounts was over $1000. The sensor and Air intake did end up costing me almost $700. Which I believe, for the amount of work done, and the cost of the items, was still too much. When I was originally confronted with the $1700 quote, I, somewhat challenged what the mechanic was saying, and told him what I had looked at before I decided that a professional should look at my car. The response that I got was something about me not knowing, but checking Google, and then the mechanic laughed. Not sure what that was all about or what he was actually trying to say. However the whole situation was very insulting. Since they already had my car, and I needed it to work, it's my only form of transportation, I went ahead and had them change the sensor and air intake tube. Unlike a lot of mechanics, they just tacked on the cost of fixing the car to the $170. It cost for them to even just look at the car, instead of deducting it from the total cost of fixing it. I have to say that once my trust is broken, I won't ever trust that company again. And I won't be taking my car back to them. I also suggest that if they are going to be that blatantly obvious about taking advantage of people's lack of knowledge about cars, that I would not take my car there if I was wanting somebody who was trustworthy. I also asked to see the air intake that they replaced, since I had never actually seen a crack in it, and was told that the mechanic wasn't there when I came to pick the car up and was shown nothing. Just really a poor experience all around. read more

I am so glad to have found this honest and trustworthy business. I brought my car into Bowen's for a second opinion since I had gone to Midas in Napa for an oil change and they told me I needed close to $2000 worth of work done; brakes, tires, power steering fluid change, etc. Bowen's checked everything out and none of that needed to be done. They did find a different problem that Midas didn't see, rodents chewed on some wires in the engine and Bowen's fixed that for less than $80. Being a young woman who drives a flashy car, it's been difficult to find a mechanic that doesn't predate on my naïveté. I called atleast half a dozen shops in RP/SR area about getting my Cadillac CTS serviced since the check engine light came on. I was about to take it to the dealership until I realized their hourly labor rate was $190. Another shop was $211. Bowen's? $154. I talked to Patrick on the phone and he already knew exactly what the issue could be. He didn't interrupt me or rush our conversation like a few other mechanics did that I'd just spoke to. To my surprise, he offered to have me bring it in that afternoon! Most other places were booked out weeks to months, so that gave me the hint that these guys are on top of their game. I took my CTS in the next morning. Patrick took my car in and said he'd call me with an update by noon. Sure enough, at 11:30 or so, he contacted me to let me know that the error code disappeared while they were testing my engine. Patrick asked about my car's history, but all of my receipts were in the glovebox. He asked permission to look through them. It gave me reassurance that they were truly concerned about fixing my car rather than procuring another dollar. He said he wanted to keep it a couple more hours and see if it would come back to prompt a repair. They drove it over 30 miles to try and get the code to come back, but it didn't, so they called me to come pick it up with the problem seemingly solved for now. I was so relieved that this shop wasn't pushing me to purchase any parts. The gentlemen who run this place are very courteous and honest. They only charged me for an hour's worth of labor despite working on my car all day. Bless their hearts! Although this place is AAA certified, they don't offer a 10% discount to members. I did, however, get a student discount for attending SSU! I'll definitely be returning to Bowen's in the future for any automotive issues I encounter. read more

When you take your Beamer to another shop for an issue Bowen's didn't want to tap into (which is fine) but this other shop tells you that you really need an oil change... and you just got one a week ago 120$ later. THATS disappointing. And that my vacuum pump is leaking internally, rear brakes are in major replacing along with a brake fluid flush.... how was all this missed? My guess? I didn't even get an oil change, and a complete careless inspection....it's hard to trust auto shops these days Don't waste your money I feel ripped off for that oil change for sure.... read more

So I had a bad experience here - but then the owner called me, After talking to his estimator and made an apology. I just don't experience that kind of customer service from anyone. It totally makes sense though - he's a guy in business trying to be honest and do a good honest job. So I can't blame the owner for that - sounds like the guy that gave me the big estimate was trying to account for my vehicle being difficult to get to the alternator. So I get it - that makes more sense than what my 'face value' experience was and I'm not out to make anyone's life more difficult. I think if someone gives a bad review when they haven't even eaten a meal or experienced the service you need to take that into account - they should tread lightly because people are trying to make a living, and I haven't had work done here so I'm backing off, calling it a mistake and moving on. These guys are great! I recently moved nearby and took my 14-year old car for servicing. I had a problem with moisture in one of my sealed beam headlights and my former mechanic had told me it had to be completely replaced at a cost of $400, plus I might as well replace both ($800!) since they were dimmed by scratched lenses. The great guys at Bowen's suggested we try removing the unit and drying it out and resealing it. They didn't know for sure if it would work, but it did work fine. Then they polished both lenses and my headlights look like new! Total cost for their unusual labor -- $140. They saved me $660, and I'm delighted with their service. read more

Had my Suburban towed to Bowens told them the batteries were dead and I did not think my fuel pump was working just talked to the shop said it took 3 hours to figure it was out of gas they charged me $238.00 in labor to put in 2 batteries 2 gallons of gas and 2 1/2 quarts of oil. Have been going to this shop for over 15 yrs but if it takes 3 hrs to figure it was out of gas and put in 3 batteries I'm sure going to find another shop. read more

So I brought my 2001 Honda civic in for some work. It was overheating, there were electrical issues and possible transmission replacement. Turns out the biggest issue was overheating and it was just the radiator hoses that needed to be replaced. Patrick worked with me through the whole thing, diagnostic and repair and he was amazing. Took about a week, since he was short staffed, but he took excellent care and told me if there's any issue with the transmission, he can replace it if I want. No pressure or upselling like most mechanics do. He even cleaned it up a bit when it was done. Definitely going back to them for their amazing work. read more
