The cleaners are located on the first floor of an apartment complex on busy south congress so the parking can get packed right up front. But no worries, just park in the lot behind, there's always plenty of space. I've gotten everything done here from dry cleaning, basic alterations to the more complicated tailoring. Everything has turned out great so far! Unlike many cleaners, the alteration lady also happens to be the owner so there is very little downtime in getting your clothes back! This place is probably best for alterations. I've taken in a few pieces in & told him what I thought I needed but he suggested something else and each time he was right! The work is great. No complaints. My dry cleaning has always come back just fine. I've brought in both women's and men's clothing. I've never had a problem w/parking but maybe that's because I tend to go on weekdays, during typical office hours. That being said, I don't like that I don't get itemized receipts so I have no idea how much it costs per piece. I came to Tom at SoCo Cleaners & Alterations to have my wedding dress cleaned and preserved. My wedding was outdoors so the bottom of my dress was covered in dirt and there were also a few other stains around the dress. I've been going to Tom at SoCo for over a year now and have never been disappointed. I think he knows my sizes by heart now, that's how much he cares about his clients. There have also been many times where I've had to ask him to expedite an alteration in order for me to have it before I leave town and he has done it, every single time. The prices are good, the work quality is awesome and if anything, this dude needs a vacation - he's always there and working! I read the positive reviews and wonder if this is the same place that has provided me unparalleled lousy service on almost every occasion to the point I will no longer bring my dry cleaning here. A few examples. They ruined a brand new shirt and initially disclaimed responsibility until I pointed out it was their tag on the shirt. They then blamed their own cleaner and demanded a receipt for the shirt and would only offer a credit to their store. Yikes. A few days ago my wife brought in 12 items and got a receipt written by the cleaners for "12 items." That was the detailed description SoCo wrote. She picked the cleaning up today. It included clothes that we don't own. After giving those back, there were only 11 pieces. Their clerk then wanted a specific description of what was missing and said it wasn't unusual to get more or fewer items than one brought in. Fortunately my wife remembered what was missing and, after some time, the clerk found it. Yikes. What a nightmare. Caveat emptor indeed. Never again. read more

I brought in an expensive dress shirt I bought from a designer in Amsterdam that I had tailored at another place called Gassane Tailors in North Austin and when I picked up the shirt it had four stains on it that were not there when I dropped of the shirt. They claimed it was not their fault and I should return the shirt...to Amsterdam. I was furious and took the shirt with me as I realized the owner of Gassane Tailor was not going to admit their mistake. I looked for a dry cleaner with good reviews and found SoCo Cleaners and Alterations. They told me if they could not get the stain out they would not charge me. Two days later I came back to pick up my shirt and they said they were able to get the four BLOODSTAINS out of my shirt... And they only charged me $2.50! They are lifesavers there! I had been looking for a place to get my wedding dress cleaned/preserved and wanted to go to a place I felt I could trust. This place had the best reviews and although it was on the other side of town, I dropped off my wedding gown with Tom. He's a really friendly guy & gave me a much better price than I had been quoted at other places. He said it would take 2 weeks to get finished, but he got it done in about 1 week! I went to pick up my dress yesterday and I was surprised at how beautiful it looks! I showed my husband and he thought it looked really great too. I brought my wedding dress here to get altered. It needed to be taken in, shortened, add cups and a bustle. It had a lot of beadwork and lace. I also need it back in less than 3 weeks. Tom worked quickly and had me come in for 2 different fittings to make sure it was perfect. He had good suggestions for what needed to be altered as he actually makes designer dresses and wedding gowns as well. He went above and beyond and added some extra boning on the side where the dress didn't have any but needed some. His price was fair, not really cheap but not expensive either. Tom is truly a God send!!!!! I went to Tom two weeks before my wedding to see if he could help with some alterations with my dress. I had already had it altered, but was told the one part that I wanted fixed was impossible because of all the lace on my dress. Tom had my dress finished within the week and had fixed everything I was having issues with. He actually had to cut the lace, fix the alterations and then hand sew the lace back together. I was at the shop when the incident occured with the expensive skirt. The women dropped of three items to get cleaned and when she picked up that is what she took with her. She now claims that an expensive skirt was missing, and she wanted 25.00 dollar to replace her skirt. I was thinking if the skirt was expensive why did she demand she get paid only 25.00 dollars. I have been going to SoCo cleaners since the new owner took over and they have yet to loose any of my items. The new owner Tom is the most caring and compassionate person i have ever met and very reasonable with his prices. I will recommend this place and continue to do business there. I was fortunate to stumble upon Soco (thanks Yelp!) when looking for a wedding dress alteration place. I had contacted a few other highly rated alterations places several months before my wedding because my dress was going to be a bit complicated to alter, due to the design, and the fact that it was at least 2 sizes too big. Most of those places told me they wouldn't do alterations until closer to my wedding day, so I waited until they said to contact them, and they later told me they were booked until July (this was in April, still 2 months out!). I reached out to Tom and brought my dress by for him. I cannot tell you how beautifully the alteration turned out. I am extremely pleased with the results-not only can you not tell it was altered at all, but it fits like a glove in every way. Also, I only needed one fitting, because he absolutely nailed it on the fit the first time around after meeting just one time to figure out what needed to be done and what I wanted. He was also confident, kind, knowledgeable, listened to my needs and did everything perfectly and on time. Highly recommend him for important alterations if you want them done correctly, and in a timely manner. The cost as well was below what I expected, knowing how much effort had to go into my dress. He even made me a veil for a nominal additional cost, and the veil also turned out exactly how I dreamed it should. Brought a couch cover to be dry cleaned after my dog peed on it....The cover was ready in two days, and looks brand new. I probably need to bring my other covers so they all look as clean. It's a gray and white twill cover, so not the easiest to clean. This place is exactly what you need to get a quick clean or alteration. read more

Disgraceful ownership. Worst experience possible. $2.50 per shirt is 2x what it should be. They decided to fold the shirts without me asking for this (extra $2 per shirt). A tie was $4.50! THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE PRICING AT ANY POINT AND DO NOT ITEMIZE IT HOPING THAT YOU WILL NOT NOTICE. I should have known the first time I went when they didn't accept American Express that they were going to rob me.
