What a lovely little gem this place is! We started off with the stuffed meatballs and then had the Mixed Kebap for 2. What an absolute treat this place is! So different from American cuisine and yet absolutely delicious. Our service was wonderful. The young lady who helped us answered all of our questions. At the end of the meal, she came over with two teas and small desserts, again another treat, and it felt like you were a guest in their home. What a lovely little place! I went at 11:30 AM on a Friday for a pickup order. There was only one table occupied in the restaurant. This parking lot can get busy, but there is plenty of parking closer to the grocery store for overflow. Food 3/5: I got the chicken doner sandwich, lentil soup, and baklava. With tip I paid $35. The chicken doner sandwich was overall my favorite. The balance of flavor between the chicken/tomato/onion/and garlic sauce was fantastic. I did have quite a few pieces of meat that were burnt/tough/very dry so overall 3/5. The lentil soup was ok. I took a few sips and that was enough. It overall lacked salt, but was a nice to have on a cold day 2/5. The baklava was very delicious and very sweet 4/5. I'd love to see an addition of the option to get extra garlic sauce on the side. Service 3/5: the food was done when it said it was going to be done. Something to note if you're ordering pickup, their system says when you ordered it and doesn't tell you the time it will be ready. There was only a single employee working in the front and she was taking someone's order so I had to wait (not a big deal) but I could see this being a problem on days they are busy. There was no silverware included in my to go order. Ambiance: the restaurant is open concept and from past experience from other restaurants in this same space, it can get very loud when busy. Overall they've done a great job cleaning it up and it has a clean feel. Overall it's great to see another restaurant in this area. In St Anthony just off of Silver Lake Road, in the location where some barbecue place was previously, is Sofra Kitchen. I have not been able to get there until recently and they've been open for quite some time, but wow am I not disappointed! I ordered stuffed cabbage and a beef doner with some fries and a drink. I shared this meal with my friend and it was super filling and absolutely fantastic. The wrap was warm and toasty. The beef was seasoned very well and was not overly salty or spicy, the lettuce and tomato were perfect. The fries could have used a little salt, but honestly they were fine just as they were. I ordered cabbage stuffed with rice. They were offered in the same light as stuffed grape leaves, and since I love stuffed grape leaves and have never had a cabbage leaf stuffed the very same way, I decided to give it a try. I love cabbage rolls that are stuffed with meat and rice in general, and these little cabbage leaves were just as tasty as a stuffed grape leaf. I was really excited to try a new spot near my place a few months ago, so I headed to Sofra for lunch. When I walked in, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wait to be seated or just pick a table. After I sat down, it took about ten minutes before anyone came over, even though no one was in line and the staff member was just standing at the counter. I was hoping the food would make up for the confusion, but it didn't. It was barely warm and made us question how fresh it actually was. The dishes seem to lack spices/flavor we expected. We had a delicious meal at Sofra Kitchen. The food was somewhat similar to Spitz but had a much larger variety of dishes and desserts. The food is Turkish and was our first time ordering Turkish food. The first two people I spoke to had difficulty communicating with me but one of them grabbed the owner and he spoke perfect English so I got all of my questions answered and he was very helpful In explaining the menu to us. The owner is very nice and wants to make you happy and comfortable with their menu. I highly recommend trying their food. We are looking forward to going back and try more different items on the menu. The place is decorated very cute and they offer a large selection of imported beverages as well. read more

I lived in Southern Turkey for 8 years, and have been looking for a place to get good Lahmacun and Pide in Minnesota since moving home about a decade ago. The Lahmacun and Pide at Sofra really measures up to Turkish standards. The Lahmacun could have a little more flavor/spice, but the price is so good. You can also have traditional Turkish beverages, so for $11, we got a small salad, two Lahmacun, and a drink - a better deal than going to McDonalds! and great authentic ethnic foods. If you like Turkish food, this place is worth trying. The staff are also amazing and the baklava is excellent. read more

I really wanted to love this place. Sigh. I adore Turkish food and was excited that this restaurant was minutes away from my home. Located in Saint Anthony, Sofra has an open casual vibe for dining. Each table has info about Turkey that was fun to read. The waitress was also very sweet. Water was offered right away and there were dates at the table which hit the spot for folks who are fasting for Ramadan. That was a nice touch but unfortunately the rest of the food was pretty meh. We ordered the cheese pide - like a cheese pizza but with buttered breading and without the tomato sauce. My kiddo said it was "okay." My other child got the stuffed grape leaves, a chicken wrap and fries. The wrap was okay, kind of greasy but the garlic sauce helped out according to my teen. He also mentioned that the fries weren't fresh or even hot really. We were shocked at the amount of grape leaves since the pic in the menu showed WAY more. The teen said it was "not bad but too much olive oil." I got the Adana Kebap meal which came with rice, bread, fries, salad, beef kabab's. The meat was not fresh, over cooked (hard to pull apart actually), and not super appealing. The seasoning on it was good though. The same issue with the fries - old and cold. The bread was good and so was the rice. There was a grilled tomato, green pepper, and salad which was plain old salad with no dressing or dips. It might have been a bit better with cacek (like Turkish tzatziki) or toum (garlic) sauce. After the meal, we saw another family being offered baklava and tea by the manager/owner just to try it out but unfortunately or maybe fortunately we weren't. I guess I could have requested some but I didn't want to pay more after what we ate. In addition to the blah food was the extra service charge for one or more person. I understand if it's a larger group but that evening it was me and two of my kids. I usually tip quite well for good service and tasty food but I deducted some for the service charge that I already paid. I don't think I'll go back for lunch or dinner again but there were plenty of sweets that looked appealing and I might give them a try for that maybe or maybe not. read more

So very excited to have our first Bosnian /Turkish restaurant in Minnesota finally!! The food was delicious!! I ordered the Cevapi plate which comes with lots of food (cevapi, fries, salad, bread, ajvar). For dessert I ordered the Kadayif dessert which tastes so yummy and Turkish tea. The service was great all the workers are very welcoming and friendly. They have lots of delicious desserts to choose from. They have a large baked goods counter with both savory and sweet items, in addition to a substantial menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I went there for a late lunch. There were 4 people in the restaurant. I waited almost 45 minutes and the waitress said it's almost done. After an hour, they told me she didn't order my food. They then brought out a meal I did not order. I would never recommend anyone eat here. The food was average at best. Very disappointed. The manager felt that the best way to apologize was to give me a baklava for free, which I left on the table. read more

This was my second visit to Sofra Kitchen. I went for breakfast, and ordered Menemen, which are scrambled eggs in a tomato, green pepper, onion saucy mix, with crusty bread on the side. It was excellent... so healthy as well... I also ordered a Turkish coffee, which is very good as well. Service was super friendly. They were not busy, and offered me an additional spinach pie, which was very good too. They also brought me some Turkish tea. It is plain black tea in a glass, but due to their special brewing process, it was delicious. I was surprised, and will be sure to order it at my next visit, when I plan to try some of their lunch or dinner offerings... This is a wonderful place... You won't find any deep cuts here, but they do a real solid Iskander Kebab and Cevapi. They have manti, as well. For the vegan and vegetarian, there are a few soy based options, but nothing too terribly exciting. The restaurant's price point is a little on the high side, but you definitely get what you pay for. I'd recommend Sofra as a great place for an end-of-week treat to the local work-from-home professional. If you need something to grab and go, numerous pastry options are available, including the dependable simit (it's kind of like a bagel). If you're a typical suburbanite who is afraid of novelty and people with skin darker than a piece of printer paper, they have a "mushroom pasta" that I'm sure will blow your calf-high white socks off. Service is great. The people running this place are warm and friendly and seem genuinely grateful to have the opportunity to share their cuisine with a part of the world in desperate need of diversity. I feel immensely welcome and appreciated here. So far, I've had the cevapi sandwich and the chicken plate. The sandwiches come halved on a round bun. The bun could be a little softer, especially around the edges, but bread is hard. In addition to a wonderfully savory, perfectly seasoned cylinder of grilled beef, the sandwich comes with ajvar (a sweet red-pepper-based spread) and roughly chopped fresh parsley. It's good. The chicken plate is served with a healthy pile of well-seasoned doner-style chicken, some fries, a few chopped pickles and red onions, as well as a grilled piece of green pepper and quarter of tomato. This meal will fill you up. If I could recommend one thing to the owners, it would be to maybe ditch the pickles and serve with a piece of pita or the bread you make the chicken and beef rolls with. read more

I was not greeted when I came in, no signs as to seat yourself or order at the counter. All of the tabletops in the booths had smears of food on them. Even a laminated picture of Istanbul had food on it. The staff was very friendly and polite. The kebab meal was very expensive for what was essentially ground beef, white rice, salad and french fries. The pistachio baklava tasted stale. The food otherwise tasted good.
