Sofra is a great place to eat Greek-Turkish Cuisine in the Palm Beach area. It is on the corner of one of the bustling streets in Lake Worth surrounded by bars, coffee shops, and nightclubs. It's a great place to dine in before a nighting or to take you family. The food was great! Strangely, I started off with a Turkish Coffee because... why not? With medium sugar, it was not too sweet and the grounds settled nicely on the bottom of the cup, so you're drinking coffee and not the grounds. Next, we tasted the dolmades, so good: it had the typical sour taste of grape peaves and the savory filling that surrounds your mouth with flavor. My fiancè ordered the beef kabob and I ordered the Gyro Platter with bulgur, a flavorful aromatic wheat berry that is a great substitute for rice. My gyro meat had the flavor of grilled lamb, but not the usual overpowering flavor of lamb that would turn people away. It was nice to see real lamb meat used for gyro meat. I highly recommend it. The main meal came with a soup, we ordered the lemon chicken soup. It was nothing special, a little too lemony for some, but it's a matter of preference. Still, I thought it was tasty and a nice starter. Finally, I always have to close a Greek-Turkish meal with my favorite dessert, Pistacchio Baklava. It was a bit different than most in that it was topped with some condensed milk, not my preference as I like just the simple syrup, but it was still good. The chef/owner gave us a complimentary tea from Turkey which reminded me of my trip to Greece where they tend to give a complimentary item to top off the meal to newcomers Overall, the place passes my quality to price ratio. I believe I came in at around 5:00 p.m., and immediately expected it to be a two or three star place. Sort of cozy layout, but the place was DEAD. Ordered a couple of platters with a variety of meats and hummus and things like that. I was concerned since I didn't hear any sort of pots and pans banging or sizzles or smells from meats cooking, so that brought back what I thought was going to be a terrible rating. When the food came the place had filled up a little more so that made me feel a little more comfortable with the whole experience. The food was thankfully hot (didn't hear anything going on in the kitchen), actually tasted amazing, and nothing bad to say about it. More employees showed up down towards 5:45 p.m. and things got moving a lot better. I would recommend this place for around 6:15-6:30 p.m. check-in since it seems a little bit suspicious before that. ONE LAST THING: The food very low-key seems microwaved. NOT accusing, but it definitely seemed that way. The lighting and decor are very nice. We were there a while and during that whole time the music was perfect level and it was very nice Mediterranean music. The meals: -Lentil soup:very surprising..It is normally chunky but it seems that the lentils are pureed. The flavor was bold in a good way. One of the better restaurant lentil soups I have ever tried - Lemon Chicken soup: everyone that had it finished it all and enjoyed it -Beef gyro platter: My hubby and I personally had the beef gyro platter (I think but I will get into that later) It was excellent! I was a little nervous to order Bulgur as a side because it is hard to make it nicely however, I am ssooo happy I did. It was very good and packed with flavor. Also, had a nice texture and not dry -chicken kabob,panini, and chicken parmigiana is what our other friends had. They all really enjoyed it. Everyone's portion was alot. Almost all of us had to have to go boxes. Customer service: This is what brought it down a star for me. The waiter was ok but he really did not seem like he wanted to be there and got a bit snappy with me once. There were 2 other guys that brought food out to us and I thought they were very nice and friendly. It was weird because there were only 3 or 4 other tables with guests besides ours so it wasn't busy but we definitely felt like a nuisance to him being there. I say he was ok maybe just having a bad day?? 3 of us were served and waited almost 10 minutes for the others to be served. No one mentioned that it would take a little longer. My mom and I are really exploring food places the last month, so we checked out Sofra. We particularly eat a lot of Mediterranean food, so my mom had to try it out. Let's just say the food was incredibly delicious. For appetizers, we had the shrimp saganaki. It was very flavorful, fresh, and well-seasoned. What a way to start out our meal. For entrees, my mom had the chicken kebab wrap with fries and I had the Iskandar. The Iskandar costed $22 so I was concerned that it was going to be small portioned, but it wasn't. The Iskandar was a large portion and you are served with rice and salad. Basically, don't let the price scare you because in the end it is all worth it. The portion size and price is reasonable. Let alone the food was just absolutely delicious, high-quality, and fresh. The salad was different, reasonably dressed, and fresh. The bulgur rice was well-seasoned and actually really good. Honestly, the food alone is the 5 stars. Absolute must place for the food especially if you are trying Turkish food for the first time. As for service, it was decent. It is clear that they are a bit understaffed, which we had no issues with. I think one of their staff might be new because they made a few mistakes here and there. Don't let that rub you off the wrong way and be patient for anyone who visits. Either way, they try their best to provide the best service. With that being said, my mom loved this place, and I think we are ranking this as one of the best Mediterranean restaurants out there. We will be returning for sure! read more

We got the falafel pita and a small pizza with eggplant and garlic - they both were not only tasty yummy but visually yummy too! Great new Turkish and Italian restaurant in Lake Worth. There is something for everyone on their Extensive menu We stuck with traditional Mediterranean dishes and salads. The fresh made hummus and hot eggplant dish were both excellent. Our favorite was their octopus appetizer, so tender and perfectly seasoned on a bed of tabouli and arugula. The falafels were good but we found the tahini sauce was a little thick, a little more salt and lemon solved it. Others in our party ordered salads. Generous sized servings filled with lots of extras, such as artichoke hearts. The chef/owner and server were both attentive. Prices a very reasonable. Delicious Mediterranean food in a charming restaurant. I had a meeting in Lake Worth so I checked out Yelp for suggestions and this popped up. This restaurant us located on the corner of Lake Avenue and Federal Highway and there is parking along the street. There is seating inside and outside. The appetizer sanpler was a great choice at $14. It had tzatziki, hummus, tabbouleh, stuffed grape leaves, white bean salad, and eggplant with tomato sauce. Everything was really yummy! It was so much food, I didn't order an entree and still had food leftover. Service was really good with frequent refills of drinks and more warm pita was brought around. My friend had the beef skewers which she enjoyed but also took home. Thia is a great place to share a few dishes. Sorry we didn't try the desserts but maybe next time. A Christmas Miracle! After a magical South Florida Christmas, we were trekking back to Orlando when we decided to make a pit stop and see if any restaurants were open on Christmas Day. While exploring the area, we happened to drive by Sofra and saw people outside (signs of life on a day when most businesses are closed!) and immediately made our way inside. We had an extremely sweet waitress who took excellent care of us. The food was amazing. The olive oil on the hummus was so fresh and tasted like it was squeezed from the olives in the back. The phyllo rolls were so fresh and tasty. The falafel was crunchy on the outside but extremely moist on the inside. Basically perfect. Especially with tzatziki sauce all over everything. We had an extremely pleasant mini-meal before heading on the road again! We wouldn't hesitate to come back again when we are down in South Florida. read more

I ordered a Falafel Pita and lentil soup. The soap came with a wedge of lemon and I squeezed it into the soap. That was delicious! The lentil soup had a smooth liquid texture and was tasty. It was served with triangles of soft warm pita bread. The falafel were moist in the inside and crunch on the outside. Yummy! The tea has a soft taste, kind of lemonish and black tea too!
