We had an excellent dinner here. We came with friends. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and they seated us right away. Reservations are a must. We were given menus and told about the nightly specials. It was not an easy decision as many items sounded appealing. We shared their Caesar salad. And our friends shared the burrata special to start. Both were very good. For entrees, we each ordered something different. I got their yellow tail snapper in a white wine butter sauce. It was one of the evening specials. It was literally melt in your mouth. My husband had the salmon livornese. He said his dish was very good -- lots of capers. Our friends had one of the veal scallopini dishes and an order of rigatoni à la vodka. They had a bit of each other's dishes. The veal was tender. The pasta sauce a bit different and the rigatoni al dente. Every plate was devoured down to the last crumb. For dessert, we had the (special) lemon panacotta, a chocolate flourless cake, and apple strudel with vanilla ice cream. My favorite was the panacotta. The ambiance, service, and food all warrant a five star rating. We go out to dinner often with these friends and this was the best dining experience for everyone where not one of the group was disappointed. It is not inexpensive, but oh so worth it. Just went tonight with my mom and daughter. It's always a pleasure going here. Called about 1:30 to see if they had an opening at 5:00 and viola. Everything is amazing. Get the langostinos if you can. Pro tip...order for the table and share a handful of different things if it's your first time going. If you've been before and you are taking someone new...order for the table and give 'em the hits. Caesar Salad to House Capellini then to mains. I went Veal Zingara and Langostinos. Disappointing Experience -- Not Fine Dining Came here for a birthday dinner and left very underwhelmed. We arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait 15 minutes with nowhere to stand, and no one acknowledged us or offered a drink. Meanwhile, another party was seated immediately. Once seated, service was extremely slow and inattentive. It took 20 minutes to get menus and another 20 for drink orders. Throughout the night, we had to repeatedly ask for water refills, wine wasn't topped off, and empty bottles sat on the table without any follow-up. Food took about 90 minutes to arrive and did not make up for the experience. The fettuccine bolognese was average at best, and the chicken parmesan was served alone, with no guidance or suggestion from the server about adding a side. Most disappointing--there was zero acknowledgment of the birthday we were celebrating, despite informing the staff. As locals, we really wanted to like this place, but between the poor service, long waits, and mediocre food, we won't be returning. Plenty of better options nearby. read more

What I missed most about New York City when I was living in NYC, were the old-school chef-owned and operated Italian restaurants, most of which were owned by Croatians. But I digress... It took nearly five years since I relocated to West Palm, to find Marcello's La Sirena (MLS) but as the adage goes, better late than never. This is by far one of two great old-school Italian restaurants in Palm Beach County; I daresay in all of SoFlo. I've visited several times since my inaugural visit. Each time Chef extraordinaire Marcello Fiorentino was holding court. Occasionally, he would grace the dining room to gauge his exuberant patron's satisfaction with their meals; as any proud king would survey his kingdom alongside Queen Diane, whose domain consisted of all things front-of-house. People enjoyed the Marcello and Diane experience for all the reasons that people--like yours truly--return to restaurants. During my several visits, my guests and I tried just about every menu item and offering du jour. Highlighting one dish from another is tantamount to picking your favorite twin-child. Since I hail from the Aegean I can't help but mention the Langoustine Alla Grilglia dish. Or, Dan's Steak or Crusty Skined Branzino, dishes but that's it, no more standouts because every dish was worth a return trip to MLS. The waitstaff was attentive and efficient. One Yelp reviewer complained and one-star rated MLS citing that "The food is good but the staff (maitre d', in particular) are unfriendly to "the point of rudeness." Is there any establishment that doesn't have an off-night? Some of the legendary places I know up north (Rao's, Peter Lugar, et al) are well known for their great food but perpetually dyspeptic staff but you'll folks return for the food. Contrary to my fellow Yelpers experience and review, MLS performed on all fronts, and writing this review entices me to make rezzies for this evening--if there will even be availability on such short notice. read more

Wonderful birthday dinner - the very best Cacia de Pepe , Chicken Parmigiana and Ricotta cake ever - even the vegetables were cooked to perfection! Even though it's a little noisy, it's the best Italian food in the area and nice to dress up and dine here. read more

Arrived a little early for a 9 PM dinner reservation. The 20 tables at the restaurant were packed. Opted to sit down early at the bar. Have always tried to eat here, but it is always booked solid. Ordered two glasses of super Tuscan very reasonably priced. At this point, I must mention that the place is absolutely beautiful. A cozy romantic dinner for 2 to 4 people would find this restaurant the perfect local for your dinner party - the service staff that greet you at the door and take your order are impeccably, trained, and dressed. Truly a New Yorkesque dining experience. We opted for a traditional Italian dish of cannelloni and the special of the day, which was the freshly caught local swordfish. As an appetizer, we enjoyed the white anchovies with splendid homemade red peppers. We even ventured to have a dessert which was a homemade ricotta cheesecake which was splendid. The menu is not cheap, yet it is not overly expensive either. All of the pasta dishes can be ordered in a full or half portion. Gives you the flexibility of trying many dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner for two or a wonderful evening of dinner with friends over conversation. Put it on your must to do list. read more

What struck me about La Sirena is that it is super fancy and yet makes everyone feel welcome! The night we dined there, in the parking lot were 3 Bentleys and a Rolls Royce. I hadn't realized ahead of time what type of restaurant it was, and I actually showed up wearing shorts! And yet--I felt just as comfortable as everyone more properly dressed. There was no false pretensions, no airs, and not even a hint of snootiness. Thank you! And, as others have said, the food was exceptional! It also was reasonably priced for that caliber. read more

Went on a weekday evening . Much better experience than weekends when they are slammed. Well prepared and thoughtfully imagined dishes.

I dined here for my birthday. When we arrived we were sat at a table near the kitchen. We were completely ignored for 20 min. We then asked someone to take our drink order. At that point we were given menus. 20 min later our dinner order was taken. We were then left to sit and pour our wine while having to ask for water refills. I felt quite embarrassed since this was my friend's first time dining here. They were quite disappointed as it was my birthday and there was such a lack of service and friendliness. Finally we were asked about dessert, but we declined. There was no mention of my birthday from anyone. We felt like we were not treated with the same service as others seated around us. I did call to speak with a manager but was completely put off. That is not how I remember this restaurant and due to the lack of care, I will not return. Do better! read more

Such a joy to be here, where they understand the dining experience, providing food and wine and amazing service on such a high level. Oh yeah, they also have a wine list that's amazing. It seems that almost everyone loves this restaurant...getting a rez during season is a nice trick...we lucked out with our dear cousins getting a cancellation from friends and inviting us...so we looked forward to our first meal at this coveted destination...but there was no there there...not in terms of the reputation that precedes this dining spot...it was all OK to good...service was perfunctory...quick...no warmth or special attention...the beer menu was from 40 years ago...I know...they pay much more attention to wine...but I don't...the lauded Caesar salad was fairly bland and tasteless...even with a hearty portion of anchovies...my chicken parm - a go to dish at a new Italian eatery for me...was perfectly fine...but not life changing...and without a side of pasta included ( a pet peeve of mine )....at a steep price for the parm alone...my partner's chicken dish was also good...but not great...she complained of it being heavily salted...no bread was offered to the table...another pet peeve at an Italian joint...we were rushed out of the small space...I guess to turn over the table...no one asked how anything was...there was no charm or welcome involved in the evening...thanks to our cousins for including us...they were the highlight of the evening...not La Sirena! read more

I had the Bronzino, which was $44 with a salad. We also had a pork chop, which was good and we had the special fish that evening which was $49 and nothing came with it. They gave you a small dish of vegetables for the table which was enough to have three little vegetables each disappointing no bread is served Also, I have an 1/2order of the pasta Bolognese, which was just OK if you have drinks at this restaurant it's a be well over $200 for dinner. for dessert. The desserts were 17 and $23 I had ricotta cheesecake for $17 which I thought was pricey also, we told him it was our anniversary and when we ordered the dessert, they did put happy anniversary, but it was us paying for our own anniversary piece of dessert, which is unusual at restaurant upscale and pricey as this one is !!they usually give you a dessert for special occasion !! they do have valet parking read more

We went here for a birthday celebration on the recommendation of a friend. We reserved the wine room which was lovely and intimate. The food was excellent and the service was even better. They were very accommodating and attentive. My sister was debating between 2 appetizers and said how much she liked roasted red peppers but also wanted the caprese salad so they suggested adding roasted red peppers to her salad. Another member of our party is diabetic and was looking forward to the cheese plate she saw on the dessert menu. When the dessert menu came it was not an option but they made one for her. This place is an absolute gem. The inside is small but all so romantic and very nice. The food here is outstanding in every way. They had the pasta dishes in Palm Beach packed with flavor and fresh. I been here twice and every time I go here the experience gets better. The chef comes out to spot check which I love that. He wants to see his customers enjoying their meals. The service here from all the staff is absolutely superb. They have enough servers that all work well together and stay on top of their tables so smoothly. West Palm Beach has a great place on Dixie Hwy. La Sirena. Been around a long while. It's a high point on the south side of WPB, shortly before Lake Worth. The food aroma within is out of this world incredible. The suggestion is that every thing on the menu is incredible! The mark of a five star place. I had the Scampi Marcello, it was out of this world Glorioso Sumpremeis! It also carries the same name as the composer Benedetto Marcello, of Baroque era music. His father Alessandro was also a composer. Back to the food, the Shrimp Scampi was amazing. The garlic was signature perfect, the shrimp quality was the very finest, as if it had come off of a shrimp boat in downtown Savannah, Georgia!!! And you're missing out, if you don't go have the Marcello shrimp scampi at La Serena!! read more

The moment we walked in, we were hit with an aroma of burnt garlic. An interesting start, considering we arrived thinking it would be a meal-of-the-year contender. The burrata? Solid. Cacio e pepe? Fantastic. But the clams? Yuck--they tasted like Marcello had been storing them in a toilet. The lobster ravioli was way overcooked, stuffed with knuckle and crusher claw meat that tasted fishy. The chicken parm had decent flavor but lacked texture and binding; the breading was a disaster. My guess? Chef skipped the egg wash due to bird flu and sky-high egg prices. The veal chop had a couple good bites in the middle, but the ends were overcooked, while the meat near the bone was cold and raw. It's very possible it had been cooked from frozen, which would explain the 'rookie ball' execution. Service-wise, the experience was equally off. We weren't thrilled about being forced to order everything at once. By the time we mapped out our courses, we'd been sitting there for 30 minutes--a little bread or something to snack on would have been nice. The customer service was... different. Let's just say one particular person in charge could benefit from a refresher on Dale Carnegie's teachings. Overall, it was a weird experience. read more

I was there tonight and was very disappointed. First of all, I felt very rushed. We barely sat down when one of the suits gave us the specials. We had appetizers and once we were finished with them, our main courses were being brought to the table. I felt that our meal was being timed. I also complained to a manager that our side orders of pasta were very hard and even though I like al dente pasta, these were way undercooked. He saw that we barely ate it yet we were charged $14 each side order anyway. There are plenty of great restaurants around Jupiter and West Palm Beach where I can have a relaxing, enjoyable dinner far less expensively than La Sirena. read more

I got 4 ,that's right, four small ravioli that cost me $10 each with not one taste of lobster Sauce was bland and I thought that it tasted like Ragu sauce . It was laughable and will not return. Noone came over to see how our food was for me to tell them, I scrapped off as much of the sauce as I could but it was not enjoyable at all. At the end of the meal I asked to speak to my waiter, he couldn't care a less. For a 30.00 pasta dish some compensation should have been offered. Nothing was offered . . Stunning wine list. Enormous. Unfortunately the person they sent over as the wine steward was not good with their recommendations, way off actually. I feel they didn't even know the list. We asked for one style and when we opened the bottle it was completely different style. Practically grew up in this restaurant.. this was my grandparent's favorite place to eat. It was where my grandmother celebrated her last birthday, where we held my aunt's baby shower and countless other celebrations. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Marcello and Diane truly show their heart for Italian food at this restaurant. Something to note is that they close down the restaurant every year around summer time to spend their summers in Italy. My family and I recently spent some time in Italy and of course asked Marcello where to go. He recommended a restaurant in Capri. We told the chef at this Caprese restaurant that we knew Marcello and I swear that place treated us like family! Love La Sirena and I hope to go before he closes for the season! read more

Interesting place. It's a wine store with food. The wine list here is like a Dickens novel. Two binders - over 1000 choices. More work than entertainment. They push the wine...hard. You'll be asked several times if you want to order a bottle - before you even get a menu. Don't know about other people, but I like to order wine that I think will pair well with my meal and I certainly need to know what the others at the table are having so you don't order a heavy red when half the table is eating fish. Anyway, there are no bargains on the wine list, but you will see outstanding hard to find wine at tip top prices. I did pick a well-worth-the-price wine, which had good reviews on CellarTracker. Unfortunately, less than 10% of the wines on the list were less than $100. I don't mind ordering expensive wine - but when it's over $100, I expect the rest of the experience to be complimentary to the expense of the wine. But if I'm going to buy a $600 bottle, it won't be here because.... The food is good, not great. Small, cramped dining room looks tired. My favorite part of the meal was an appetizer size of perfectly cooked homemade fettuccine. Everything else ordered was more complicated and just ok. I suggest the owners take next summer to paint the place, get new curtains and burn the 1990s fabric furniture out in the parking lot. Throw away the old menu selections and try to execute really good (more modern) Italian food. (Oreganato? In 2018? Please.) Auction off most of the wine and offer a well curated small list that rotates regularly. Give people a reason to come back repetitively. read more

I'm so disappointed, ranted and raved about the food and came back with 3 others couples tonight to celebrate a birthday. They initially set up a tiny table for 8, a table which might fit 6...only after we said something did they put a larger table top on. Escargot was terribly salty, buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes was good. My veal zingara didn't even taste remotely the same as last time, it wasn't hot when it was served, and the sauce was reddish in color this time. Our friends enjoyed the risotto, gnocchi and cannelloni. Hubs had the chicken stuffed with veal which I found terrible, too salty and the texture unappealing. The flourless chocolate cake was bitter, odd tasting. Creme brûlée was good. A very different impression than my first time here I'm afraid...consistency is what I expect and this fell well short. read more

Amazing from start to finish, I cannot wait to go back. Diane and team were incredibly welcoming and professional from the second we entered, clearly experts in their field. The food was amazing, we tried the specials and regular menu items, and my only regret is not ordering doubles of the lobster ravioli (wanted to lick the plate it was that good). The attention to detail in everything, from the food, wine list/pairings, right down to the artwork was beautiful and unique. It was one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time and I will definitely be going back. The service was horrible. It makes me so sad to say I had a horrible time somewhere while I was vacationing with my family but this place was bad. We all left feeling weird. The 6 of us were sat at a table for max 4 and our waiter gave up and sent a new one when we asked 'too many' questions. We were served bad wine which was suggested as well as expensive. The food is excellent. Just a few issues that need to be addressed. - there is no vaping allowed inside restaurants in Florida. They should pay more attention to what customers are doing. Quite a turn off to other patrons. - there is also a no pet law in Florida restaurants. It is against the law. So not only having a dog in a carrying case against the law but putting it on your lap and having it almost on the table is no better. We all need to follow the rules. No one is above them. read more
