So my 12th anniversary is coming up and I asked my wife where she wanted to go for dinner. She said that she wanted to go back to Sogo. We arrived at the restaurant and was promptly seated. We ordered our drinks and decided to order an appetizer. we settled on the Monster. It contained fresh fish mixed with crab meat, avocado, mango and a mix of spicy and sour sauces. This sat on top of a thing edible piece of rice paper. The flavors and texture were amazing. This dish to us was perfect all around My wife ordered the House Sushi Platter and I ordered the Sashimi and Sushi Platter. These platters came with Miso Soup. The soup contained tiny cubes of tofu. It was good, nothing to write home about. The sushi and sashimi in both of our platters was the freshest we have ever had. Both platters had salmon, tuna, white tuna and white fish. We decided to finish off out meal with the Fried Banana desert. The desert come with ice cream. I got vanilla and my wife got the coconut. I first came here for dinner with a friend who is an Easton native. Ever since then, I've come here many times for lunch and dinner. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is perfect for a date or just hanging out with a few friends. I have never left disappointed at Sogo. The prices are reasonable and the sushi tastes fresh. I've even had a sushi boat one of the times I've gone here. They have Harbin beer (from northern China) which is a plus for me since I don't see that often in that area at all. It's official - I am in love (with sogo). My friend and I ate here on Saturday around 7pm. We were seated immediately. The Samurai Roll was out of this world! We also had two other rolls. I am a new yorker who has temporarily relocated to the area and have been very happy with the pizza in the area, but disappointed with EVERYTHING else. Checked out Sogo last night after walking by and was extremely impressed. New York quality asian food located in downtown Easton. Who knew. I wasn't able to order a lot since I was there by myself but the vegetable gyoza and salt and pepper shrimp entree were both great. The sushi in the sushi bar looked fabulous, but I didn't try the sushi this time. Ambience was nice (for the area). Its not cheap, but not ridiculous also. Sogo has a great atmosphere and delicious food, I am vegan and they bend over backwards to accommodate my dietary choices - they will make any entree with tofu in lieu of meat and have a tremendous selection of vegetarian sushi. The only drawback is that they allow smoking at their bar area which can become overwhelming in the dining room after 9:00pm. Luckily, during nice weather, they have a patio where you can dine outdoors, sans smoke. read more

I don't know where else the people reviewing this restaurant have been eating sushi... but this is not a NY quality experience. The appetizer was terrible, the soup was warm and best and bland. The drinks were watered down and over iced. And the sushi was terrible. We ordered 5 or 6 rolls and all of the tasted of mayonnaise. A lot of Mayo in all the rolls or the sauces on the rolls. Very accommodating and a friendly place to dine in the heart of downtown. As a temporary vegetarian (during my fasting), it's not easy to achieve satisfaction when others are enjoying fresh sashimi around you. Linda, our host recommended a ton of vegetarian options from sushi, to apps to entrees. The dishes were very satisfying. We picked this place for lunch because of its proximity to the Crayola Factory. The decor is nice and modern. The food was disappointing. The portions were small. I ordered the sashimi/sushi combination lunch special for $14, which consisted of 2 pieces of sushi, 2 thin pieces of sashimi and 2 rolls of fake crab meat, which I hate. Even the miso soup that came with the order was bad. It is so diluted, there was hardly any flavor. Other dishes ordered by my table like the chicken with noodle soup was had too much white pepper powder and the fried chicken was too dry. The best part of the meal was the simplest dish, the edamame, which is basically boiled young soy beans in their pod. They were big and had good color (if that makes any sense). That cost $6. I have been frequenting Sogo since their opening in 2006. By far, they offer the most creative, unique and tasty rolls in the Valley and even beyond! My personal favorites include the Infinity roll, Sweetheart roll, Valentine roll & the Tokyo/Flying Dragon (some are specialty rolls and are not featured on their menu). For apps, I highly recommend the Monster. It's an assortment of thinly sliced sashimi, mango, cucumber & avocados topped with several tasty sauces. Their Thai & Chinese food looks great too, although I strictly go for the sushi. Their creativity doesn't end there, the martini list has a lot to offer! I hadn't been to Sogo in years but we decided to try it the other night. I'm really glad we did. When I went years ago, the food was just ok. I had a much better impression this time around. I wouldn't say that it's hands down the best sushi in the Lehigh Valley, but it's pretty good. I really love the atmosphere too. I am engaged so I don't really need to keep a list of great first date spots, but single folks, add this to your list! It's a very unique atmosphere that is almost lounge-y. Like most sushi places, you can't go wrong with the chef special rolls. They also have a pretty good drink menu as well. I'm actually really surprised that this place isn't as crowded on the weekends as it used to be. I'm guessing there is more competition now so people have forgotten about this place with all of the newer places opening. If you're one of those people, I do think you should give them another shot. Bonus: it's one of the few places in the Lehigh Valley where it's quiet enough to actually be able to hear the person next to you (WOW I just sounded like my dad). What a great find! Went to Easton for a night and needed a last minute bite on a Friday shortly after arriving -- several other places that folks suggested had no tables. Walking on foot we found Sogo o a whim, and we were seated right away. Our server was courteous and very considerate, bringing miso soup and edamame out right away for our hungry crew. Cooked and raw sushi were excellent - flavorful, fresh and filling. Again, recommended by our server who was a pro. Thank you for a great meal! read more

Really good. Not quite as good as Kome but the prices are great for the quality of food you get. Tuna and salmon are very fresh even on a Sunday night. Also, Sapporo is a great beer. The cocktails they made me were good and strong and like I said the prices are good. I like that they have outside seating too and I've had the same waitress the last three times and she's always really nice. Sitting at the sushi bar is fun too. We ( happily) live in Downtown Easton and frequent this restaurant approximately once a week. It is, hands down, one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever encountered. The service is friendly and professional. The owner is very concerned about how her guests are treated. She will honor requests for variations on the menu. We brought a friend ( who lives in France) who is not a big fan of seafood. The owner had the kitchen create a chicken tempura "sushi" roll that was fantastic. Favorites: the spicy crab/ avocado salad, sweetheart roll ( soft shell crab) and lobster roll. Amazing! The cocktails are equally wonderful ( they have an extensive martini menu). Keeping with my current Asian food theme, I decided to pay a visit to Sogo this weekend. I've heard a lot of positive things from friends and acquaintences and wanted to see what the hype was all about. First things first. The sushi was quite good. Copious amounts of very tasty sushi made with fresh seafood and presented very nicely. This was not the finest sushi in the area, but it was good nonetheless. They certainly make some of the biggest sushi rolls I've seen. Try the volcano roll and I wish you good luck in getting one of those monsters to fit inside your mouth. Of course, I had no problems at all. :-) The crab rangoons were delish too. A gripe I have was the timing of the food. I had ordered a lot of sushi and my friend ordered some kind of chicken udon noodle dish. Apparently my sushi wasn't ready so instead of waiting a bit to bring them both out, they brought my buddy's dish out right away and I was left there to just watch him eat. To top it off, the noodles weren't even that hot. There were some cold spots and some kinda warm spots on the plate. It makes ya wonder how exactly they prepared it. Service itself was not so good. Actually, it was pretty bad. Granted it was a busy Saturday night and every single table was filled, but they also had a huge staff working. Some tables were well attended to but others, like mine, were somewhat ignored. Our waiter was to blame here. He was just slow. We ordered some tea that didn't arrive for 10 minutes. I mean, how long does it take to bring out tea?? Old dropped napkins and chopsticks laying on the floor for who knows how long didn't help either. The interior was decent. A bit modern, a bit posh, a bit tacky. It's a blend that surprisingly works, at least here in Easton. Seating wasn't the best. The chairs have an unusual tilt towards the back of the seat so I never felt completely at ease. I like to think I'd come back again but there are definitely a lot better places to have sushi. I imagine on a less busy night and perhaps with a more efficient waiter, my experience would be more positive. Time will tell. read more

I've never had a bad meal at Sogo - from the fancy, complicated sauce-doused rolls to the simple a la carte pieces, everything always tastes really fresh and delicious. The simple sweet potato roll is surprisingly good, great even, and the Hard Rock roll is a roller coaster of flavor and texture. That might be the corniest phrase I've ever used, but it's fitting! I've never had an actual entree there other than sushi, but everyone I've gone with who has has said the entrees are exceptional. The staff there is always super friendly. Been here twice. The first time was a great experience. Had the deluxe sushi platter for two. My friends and I had good beer and warm sake. The waitress was wonderful. We had a wonderful time. The second time was lukewarm. Even though we ordered the same dishes from last time, it wasn't very good. And the new waitress serving us had no idea how to serve, when to bring plates, she didn't even bring out glasses with beer and only brought ONE shot glass with the sake. It was a nightmare. And can someone tell me what's with those two women sitting at the entrance? One, I guess does the hostess work, but from what I've been told, they're the miserable "owners" who terrorize the wait-staff. Get a life. Horrible way to run a business. And all the sushi chefs are Chinese men. It isn't usually that packed... There is a great lunch special from $6-$9. There are many options for lunch, like poultry dishes, beef and seafood dishes, noodle dishes, and a few soups. Not that I wanted sushi two times in a row (even though I love it soooo much) my friends I came here for dinner the other night. We were going to go somewhere else - but my one friend kept telling me how much he wanted to go to Sogo - so me being the nice person I am gave it the thumbs up. I am so glad I did! This would have to be my second favorite sushi place. We got the love boat for three and it was packed full of yummy different kinds of sushi and sashimi. Everything tasted super fresh! We also go the pad thai noddles with shrimp to share. Those were also super delicious. The flavors just exploded in your mouth! I visited Easton, PA recently. My colleagues took me out to dinner here. I really didn't expect the food to stand up to New York quality Japanese food. But, I was impressed. We had a dumpling soup (flavorful), black pepper tuna salad (yummy), gyoza (nothing special, but still good), edamame (standard good), Sogo Spicy Mix (which is a mixture of fish with a spicy sauce; yummy), spicy tuna roll (it was spicy!), and a spicy salmon roll (again, it was spicy).
