Chicken and broccoli brown sauce was very very dark and very salty. The boneless spare ribs seem too sweet and something is too much like soy sauce or something. This has been our go to for many years for take out and delivery until tonight. Sadly this may be the end of the line for our ordering from here. We ordered normal dishes for us but when it arrived it was smaller portions AND higher cost. Now before you go reading this quickly and not digesting fully what I'm saying, pause, read it again and follow along. I KNOW costs for everything have gone up and I fully expect to pay more for things at this point...but don't decrease the size of the portions AND increase the cost, that's a double whammy to the consumer. New Imperial Chinese was a pretty average Chinese Restaurant. Located in a strip mall in Easton, PA, it's not much from the outside. Inside, it is kind of plain and rather small. They have a sushi chef and sushi bar in the back of the restaurant. But, this is Easton, not New York, so we all stayed away from the Sushi. The menu is fairly extensive, but not unique or traditional. The menu contains what you would expect to see in any typical Chinese restaurant - Chow Mein, Lo Mein, Chow Fun, Mu Shu, Fried Rice, Egg Fu Yong and a variety of beef, pork, shrimp and vegetable dishes. For a little more you can add soup and egg roll. The hot tea was most likely the gourmet Lip-Ton (Lipton). Now, the portions are huge - enormous. I had beef egg foo yong and got the egg roll and hot and sour soup. I find hot and sour to be more sour than hot in most places, Here, there was a nice spice to it. The egg roll was tasty, albeit a little greasy. The beef egg foo yong was good, but fairly bland. Others around table (there were eight of us) got a variety of dishes. The service was fair - we were one of two large parties, and there was a table with three at it, but the rest of the place was empty. With two servers and a hostess, we expected to have someone check on us a couple of times, see if we needed drink refills, etc., but the only time a server really interacted with us was to seat us, take our order, serve and give us the check. The group I went with was sort of a family reunion so it's too bad the service left us with a sour taste (pun intended). read more

Ok so..... I've been coming here for a while and this place has turned for the worse. Food is getting really bad and they are very cheap when you order anything. My shrimp with garlic sauce had 2 shrimps and I was told that it only comes with one also if you are dining in they will charge for soup noodles 2.75 cents extra an addition to them coming 10 minutes after you have been served and asking you to take things to go and there is no one in the establishment but me. My husband and I have been going to this Asian restaurant for the last several years, and it has gotten better and better. Their sushi is excellent and reasonably priced, and so is their other food overall. They just renovated the place, and it's not only beautiful, but cozy, too. We've taken many of our friends and relatives here, and all of them have been impressed with the quality of food, as well as the prices. The owners are always on top of things, and they are eager to please. If you like good Chinese food and sushi, I don't think you will be disappointed if you try New Imperial. They have an extensive menu, and something for everyone! Update: My family and I continue to patronize this business on a regular basis. I highly recommend their sushi. Their avocado rolls are better than any Japanese restaurant I've tried. My husband loves their eel avocado rolls and their Futomaki rolls. We also enjoy their chicken tempura and sweet potato rolls. I eat there with my family and found the place to have a pleasant atmosphere. The service was good as well as helpful. The food choices are limited for any specific group because they are covering three major food categories: Chinese, Japanese fusion and Sushi. A place covering only one of these would likely have a more extensive menu in the one specific cuisine being covered. The plus side though is you can move between the three. There were lots of questions for the waiter who answered all, even getting further help when he didn't know a precise answer (ESL issue, easily resolved). They were very pleasant and patient about it. The food arrived hot and tasty. We will be returning. Parking is plentiful. It would rate a fifth star with a slightly extended menu, but like I said that would likely mean covering less than the three cuisine options. read more

This is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I'm from Maine and grew up on a different kind of Chinese food and this place is exactly what I'm used to. Tasting their food brought me back to my childhood. They are very friendly and their food is excellent. The duck sauce is the same apple type sauce that I grew up on. It's a small restaurant in a plaza. Every time we go eat in, it is empty. Not sure how their business is going financially because of the lack of business on the inside of the establishment. Tonight I decided on delivery and all went well including on time delivery until I tasted the terriyaki chicken. it was in a very light colored tasteless sauce over long semi cooked slices of pepper and onion. I've ordered from them several times during the pandemic, trying to keep local eateries from closing their doors, and I have to say that New Imperial is on their way out. I really, really enjoyed the meal I had here. It was not take out, it was dine in (It's about a 30 minute drive). The dining area is very small, which makes sense. Many times I've been to Chinese restaurants with large, empty dining areas, not a single person seated, just an endless stream of customers coming in for their takeout. A small dining area makes sense. Our waitress seemed a bit aloof. We were the only table in the place (snow was coming down pretty hard), and they probably weren't expecting customers. But by the time we left, she had warmed up. She was actually kinda funny :) My starter of chicken soup was probably one of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. I also had the General Tso Chicken but couldn't finish it all (see below). It arrived just as I had ordered it, sans vegetables. It had just the right texture, very flavorful without being overdone. I cannot remember what it's called, it's some kind of a value meal, where you get soup and fried rice with your entree for just a nominal fee. I thought that meant that my entree would be served over white rice, with the fried rice as an additional dish, but no, it was missing the white rice. I guess next time I'll skip the value and just ask for fried rice in addition. But the favorite part of the meal? Don't laugh at me... it was the fried noodles that are on the table. You know like how restaurants will have baskets of bread? This was a basket of noodles. Not just any noodles. Wide, crispy, flavorful, kinda greasy noodles (yes, greasy. they are fried noodles, not baked. duh.) I couldn't get enough. I think we polished off 3 baskets (there were 2 of us). Oink! In addition, I got 4 bags to take home. Yes, they were that good. The next time I feel like dining out for Chinese, I will come here and try their garlic chicken (with no vegetables, of course). Better than Hong Kong I have always enjoyed New Imperial classic Chinese American cuisine. The shrimp toast is my guilty pleasure. The soups are smooth and delicious. The pineapple chicken is all white meat. Every Chinese item I have had, I have enjoyed. The "spicy" items are not hot, so if you want them spicy hot, you need to request so. The service is also efficient. I have traveled and dined in Honk Kong for a week and I can say for the money, this restaurant is better than what I had in HK. read more

I live around Easton, and I love my Chinese food. Now, I've never had New Imperial before, but then the coronavirus, as some of you probably know, struck. They were the only one around my area that were open, so I decided to give it a try. Called in, and the guy on the end was very pleasant. I made a small order and was going to pick it up. Pick up time seemed a bit long to me, but I was hungry for Chinese, so I decided to go anyways. I had pay with credit card over the phone, since they said they were doing some sort of no contact policy at this time. He said that I had to call when I was there, and they would place the order outside so there would be no contact. When I got there to pick it up, they even had a nice little chair that the order was on, and a little box next to it for cash payments. I was actually pretty impressed that they were going out of their way to make sure that there was no contact. Way to go! Other than that, the food actually really good. I'm sure this restaurant has a pretty okay reputation with everyone else but we were unlucky. Waited 2 hours for our food service to arrive because the driver put in the wrong address. Hey mistakes happen! But then proceeded to deliver other orders in priority because he got lost. Understandable. We're only 15 minutes away in the same city. Other people stated they've been local for years. On top of that they got part of our order wrong, and we asked for a replacement. Order taker said it was ok, her supervisor said it was ok, and it was out for delivery. Somehow the actual owner of the restaurant heard about this last minute and refused to deliver it because it was "too out of the way" and our location is "just outside their delivery range" as it was in the car. I've had experience where Asian food places delivered to places 30 minutes away. Yes, we could've picked it up ourselves, but we didn't predict this was going to happen, the food was already out for delivery. The food was probably wasted, at least they said they will refund that part of the order, but seeing how they changed their mind with out food, who knows if we'll even get the refund? They offered to put the refund on store credit for next time, unfortunately there won't be a next time. Got around $40 worth of food, I saved up for a few weeks for treating myself but it backfired. Their food was pretty nice though. I'm Asian and my dad's a sushi expert. Their sushi definitely met my home standard with good rice texture and fresh fish and flavorful nori. But service and food goes hand in hand about restaurants, in the end it's about the experience. Their food didn't make up for it and wasn't dealt with professionally. We are new to the area from Michigan. Pretty decent. There was only 1 special roll on the board, and it was pretty decent. Sushi was yummy. I would say good value for the price. Service was a bit slow, but it seemed that there was only 1 server. We took our 4 and 6 yr old and they liked it too (they like sushi). We also got a shrimp/broccoli/steamed rice and that was delicious too! They offer regular as well as low sodium soy sauce (although they were low on the bottles of low sodium). You cannot find a better place for authentic Asian cooking in the Lehigh Valley. When we first moved here 23 yrs ago - we came from our favorite Chinese Restaurant in Princeton. We had a difficult time finding a spot and when we did, they went out of business within a year. We decided to give New Imperial a try after food shopping one evening at Giant. We were pleasantly surprised! We typically call for take out. But when we choose to dine in, we are always pleased. The staff is friendly and very attentive. We have made it a tradition to eat there every Christmas Eve after Mass (an idea the kids latched onto after The Christmas Story movie). My favorite dish is the General Taos a dish so many other restaurants ruin. We love the lemon chicken, the shredded pork in garlic sauce, the orange crispy beef, the pineapple chicken and the pepper steak. All are typical of Chinese Restaurant menus but at New Imperial the quality of the meat in the dishes is above and beyond. The meat cuts are free of tendons, gristle or unnecessary fat. Portions are generous. Adding more spice to heighten the zing is always an option. Recently we tried chicken fried rice instead of pork fried rice as a change of pace and have found yet another fav. The crispy noodles are homemade and never prepackaged. Be sure to ask for their homemade mustard and duck sauce - it cannot compare to the packets. The mustard is pleasantly hot!!!!!!!!!!!!! A true "wow" factor not to mention a sinus clean out remedy! Family eats here quite often, good food for a low price. $10 for a meal that can feed 2 great! Would recommend the fried rice, the walnut shrimp and the wonton soup! They have sushi every day but monday, the avocodo rolls are always ripe and for 2.95 I choose that over the eggrolls.
