Everything was fresh and very good! It's a cute place - quite small - which is why I assume that they are still only doing takeout. They are wearing masks, gloves and have heavy plastic hanging across the whole front-excellent Covid/health precautions. I would take out from here again. read more

The only thing keeping this sushi restaurant from being a 5 star is simply their transition to takeout only. The interior of the restaurant has an old wood finish and all the various vanities really brings it all together. I really used to enjoy sitting at the bar and talking with the chef, but it being takeout has limited any interaction with him. This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the area and has been for years. Their special rolls are absolutely delicious and them being named after various areas in the Hudson Valley really makes it feel local. read more

I've LOVED this place for about 10 years and was always happy to go in, order, and sit in the dining area to ENJOY my delicious meal! Unfortunately that changed after their totally unnecessary C19 paranoia nonsense! Now - and even before C19 - there are no more weekend hours, they are closed for 2 hours mid-day as I always happen to get there when they are closed...and even more disappointing, you cannot just go in, order and sit down to enjoy your meal, as you only have the option of ordering on the phone, picking it up and either eating it in your car while it's still hot, or drive home and enjoy it cold! Sorry, but one wonders about places whose convenience is more for themselves and not for the customer! read more

We ordered the Sushi and Sashimi combination with the Fried Tempura Roll, and came back another night and had the Sashimi appetizer with the Lobster Roll and Dinosaur Roll...Pure deliciousness!!! I ordered the chicken teriyaki for our young daughter, and it was gooood, but not as great as the sushi! The chicken teriyaki was brought on a hot skillet with some grilled onions and carrots, and a side of white rice. The service was wonderful, and I think they got a kick out of my Caucasian hubby who spoke some Chinese. (I like to crawl under my chair when he does that sometimes, but the hostess and owner made us feel comfortable:). I can eat here everyday. Fresh food, great service, and a business that doesn't mind my husband polishing up his Chinese skills on them. Awesome. read more

We tried a few of the cut rolls and all were fresh and tasty. A few were a little dry but nothing a little soy sauce could not fix. This incredibly tiny restaurant - four seats at the sushi bar (photo), and only another dozen at tables - sort of feels out of place. "It's in the strip mall, the one next to the traffic light." Yeah, the location is kind of remote. On the other hand, I somehow got the impression that the product they are preparing for the locals is far more than West Coxsackie would normally expect. I stopped in for an early weekend dinner to find an an empty restaurant, with the staff preparing plenty of to-go orders. A single host/server escorted me to the small sushi bar where I was greeted by the single chef - I didn't see any other employees. A decor filled with what seems to be Japanese-kitsch is accented with inexpensive waribashi, paper napkins and laminated place mats decorated by beer sponsors - at least, no obnoxious television. Scanning through the text-only menu, I noticed quail egg yolk available as an addition to any fish roe gunkanmaki. This might work out after all. So I ordered a pleasant soup, and a couple of maki and a handful of nigiri, which were all delivered quickly and politely. The confident plating was very simple, with no decoration at all, although the maki seemed a little small (photo). The rice itself was well seasoned, and the not-really-spicy salmon maki did contain larger chunks of salmon, which I always prefer over the minced paste some chefs offer up. For the nigiri, I decided to have the tasty ikura / uzuri-tamago cholesterol explosion (not the real name), along with an enjoyable hotate. I was pleased, although I found the prices pretty high. Would have loved to rate the food. We forwent a nice meal in another town cause we were craving sushi. Google said they were open till 8:30. We arrive and the woman says "we closed unless you want takeout. " we closed at 8. Ummm.. then she says here are the specials..twice. We came for nigiri. That's what we eat almost exclusively. The ambiance is terrible in the place but we didn't want to drive back to our hotel to eat. We walk out. Then noticed it's not even 7:40!! My wife points that out and she just shrugs her off. No apologies or explanation. I realize it was a Friday and you were not busy. But that is a cardinal sin of a restaurant to just close before your posted time. I hate to be the person that puts up this review as I see them often. But I would say most definitely call and check before you go out of your way to go for the food or if you forgo another meal in expectation of them being open to other post a time on a Friday night. read more

We tried it 3X. The first time we ate in the restaurant and ordered 3 rolls that all tasted like the same sauce, no variety at all. The rice was bland and the fish literally had no taste. Came here on a whim for a quick dinner, and left convinced I've discovered the best sushi in the county! The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the pricing is very reasonable. I've been going to sogo for a few years now and they're still my favorite sushi place in Greene County. The service is always great, the people who own it are always so polite, and pricing is pretty good for the quality of it. Inside the restaurant is decorated w/ a lot of Japanese style art and it's really gorgeous. The sushi is so good, and you can watch him (the sushi chef) roll it right in front of you. It's always a great option for sushi especially if you're looking to try new places. My fiancé's and I's favorite rolls are the Calamari rolls and the Alaskan rolls.
