H Mart exterior - food court inside
    David H.

This is one of the 5 restaurants at the food court inside the H Mart Asian supermarket. It's the only one detached from the rest at the far end next to the restrooms. The way you go about ordering your food is a bit unusual. You would look around at each restaurant for the menu as well as mock samples and decide what you want. Then you have to go to a centralized ordering station, which is the second station from the back, to make your order and pay for your food. The number on your receipt would be announced via the loud speaker when your food is ready. But there's a twist - you have to pick up your food at the respective restaurant. If you order from multiple restaurants, you'd have no idea which one is ready when you hear your number announced. This could be confusing and frazzling, especially if you've never been here before, and/or you have a big party and your orders are all over the place! We've tried Sogongdong twice so far. The soft tofu stew (soondubu) is very standard, using the standard soondubu serving vessels and ingredients. They come piping hot and with a raw egg and 2 banchan sides. I've always had the seafood variety and I would recommend you the same. Unless you can't take seafood, there's simply no comparison how much more tasty the seafood broth is. I've tried the beef/seafood combo but I would not recommend it. The beef is almost always tough. Price is a bit cheaper than other soondubu joints, but you only get 2 banchan sides compared to 6-8. On the most recent visit, the sides were kimchi and pickled cucumbers. Tip: don't feel abashed to ask for banchan refill. They won't cringe. Also, make sure you crack the egg into the broth while it's still piping hot. I think this is my favorite among the restaurants at this H Mart food court. Give it a try when you're in town.

Had my fav bimbimbap veggie version to go. Tasty with side of soup and kimchee. Soup had beef but you figure it would. Ok value. Not sure it there was much or any sesame oil. Weird setup to order and pay where you do it at a separate cashier. Fairly fast service. Took to go for road trip. Ok value.

This restaurant is located in the Hmart food court. This was my first time eating pork tangsu so I…read moredon't have any comparison, but I liked the flavor and quantity at this restaurant. The pork was fried well and the breading wasn't overwhelming or too much. You can either eat the fried pork by itself, dip it in the sweet and sour sauce, or pour the sauce all over the fried pork. I liked to dip the pork in the sauce so the pork stays crispy. I was surprised that the onion and bell pepper were raw in the sauce. I would have enjoyed it more if they were cooked. There were also carrots and pineapple in the sauce.

About a 2-2.5: Delicious Chinese Restaurant - I really wanted to like you!…read more This vendor is one of the food court finds you'll find at H Mart - note that you have to go to another kiosk to place orders for any of the vendors that you'd like to order from; I guess it's a way to allow the eateries to focus on preparing the food, rather than lose the extra employee in dealing with the register. Masheeneun Joonggook Jip, aka 'Delicious Chinese Restaurant' offers your typical Korean-Chinese fare, such as jajangmyun, jjambbong, tang soo yook, ggangpoongi, etc. We came here for lunch, and we ordered: +jajangmyun - wasn't a fan of the black bean sauce, as there seemed to hardly be any flavor - it was super bland; also, the noodles were overcooked and were 'swollen' +hae mool jjambbong - the seafood jjambong's broth had a spicy kick to it; unfortunately, the broth was super thin, and while there were ample amount of mussels, the squid had a fishy smell to them and were not fresh; there were tons of noodles, however, but just like the jajangmyun, they was overcooked +soon sahl dak gganpoongi - these came boneless; this was actually not a bad dish, as the sauce wasn't too syrupy sweet as most Korean-Chinese places make them; they had a slight kick to them, had tons of veggies (bell peppers, peas, onions), and tons of sauce, which would be great eating with a bowl of rice I was a little surprised that the only banchan they gave you with the meal was the dakgwang (pickled yellow radish), but no kimchi or ggakdoogi (fermented radish cubes); I also thought that a bowl of rice would have been served with the entrees, like the gganpoongi. There was about a 40-minute wait (which we were quoted), as there were a lot of patrons ordering from this place - a recommendation would be to get there earlier before the lunch rush. This seems to be run by a husband-and-wife team, and they were really slinging everything; super kind. This may be a good option for those living in the Frederick area, but definitely not worth the trek for us. Glad we were able to try it, but we wouldn't return. Plenty of parking in the lot. +stick with the gganpoongi +overcooked noodles +order near the Sogongdong Tofu place for any eatery items +located inside H Mart +plenty of parking in lot

It was packed but we got one of the last tables available and were seated right away, others that came later had to wait. Service was great--staff were friendly and attentive. My favorite dish here is the Fried Chicken Wings with Garlic Sauce (Bone-in)--lollipop style wings, the flavor is unique and delicious, and the portion is huge! The Noodle with Pork & Black Bean Sauce and Noodle with Veg & Beef Spicy Seafood Soup are my top favorites noodle dishes here. We also got the Fried Dumplings, which were just okay. For drinks, they have a variety of Soju, another drink favorite of mine lol. Highly recommend this place!

Pros- Clean establishment…read more Cons- High priced Food is ala carte Service could be more attentive We came to check this place out as my daughter likes it. In the door the place was clean and well lit. Our server was attentive to us in the very beginning b I t did decline. Menu choices to me were a little odd to include everything is ala carte, you dont even get rice with a meal. We were a party of 8 so we all ordered something different. For me the food lacked flavor and the fried beef was like eatting beef Jerry. We had some children with us who dont eat with chop sticks and getting regular utensils seemed difficult. Our server filled our waters in the beginning but that was it, after that finding her for anything was not happening. Finally, they attached a automatic gratuity which i have an issue with, I am a great tipper but if service sucks then it should be my decision on how much to tip.

I'm becoming a kpot conosour as this is my third location visiting. This is a great location (well…read morethey all are!) what make this one different is that they have a cooler of tea drinks included in the buffet. They were delicious peach, mango and leeyche flavored tea. The service was great and our servicer explained everything well. A few times we received wrong items but they were super nice about it. This location doesn't have ice cream out but you can get some from your server after your meal. All of the veggies and meats are fresh and well prepared. I like trying the tofu skin, and scallops here. I haven't seen this at other locations. I'll definitely be back!

The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Tons of options, and everything we tried was solid. It's interactive and fun without feeling overwhelming. Cece helped us, she was awesome. She knew the menu inside and out, answered all of our questions, and made sure we understood how everything worked. You can tell she's experienced and actually cares about the guests having a good time. She really made the whole experience smooth. It runs about $40 per person, which feels fair for all-you-can-eat and the overall experience. For the quality, service, and fun factor, it's well worth it. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Boo-hoo, look around and you'll find a spot unless you're driving a yacht. Now, to the setting and the food...the setting is the way I like it. Rustic, clean, unassuming, not fancied up. Wooden privacy screens are set in between tables. (Perhaps because of Covid? Not sure.) This to me was really comfortable, didn't feel like I was stuck in a cattle car. I'm sure there's Korean BBQ here but we weren't at such a table. In fact it looked like grills had been removed from some tables and replaced with wooden covers. So nice to have that extra space because... Ordered bibimbap, bulgogi, steamed dumplings, etc. The extra side dishes I enjoy (kimchi, sprouts, etc.) were there as well. Ice tea, yadda yadda. Korean music was playing but it wasn't loud, on another screen by the kitchen I could see Family Guy. Again, not loud or intrusive. Didn't feel like they skimped on portions, there was plenty. Almost too much, wasn't sure I'd manage to finish the bulgogi but I did...mmm. Overall, this place is a nice break from other places. If you want to take someone out and just enjoy yourselves, this would be it. Perhaps a bit different when full, but still. Btw, it's been 13 years since I first went here. This week was only the second time. I totally forgot where it was or whether it was still around. So glad it is.
