I'm becoming a kpot conosour as this is my third location visiting. This is a great location (well they all are!) what make this one different is that they have a cooler of tea drinks included in the buffet. They were delicious peach, mango and leeyche flavored tea. The service was great and our servicer explained everything well. A few times we received wrong items but they were super nice about it. This location doesn't have ice cream out but you can get some from your server after your meal. All of the veggies and meats are fresh and well prepared. Came here with a group and had a really great experience. If you've never done Korean BBQ + hot pot before, it's definitely something you should try at least once -- and K-Pot makes it easy to enjoy. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Tons of options, and everything we tried was solid. It's interactive and fun without feeling overwhelming. Cece helped us, she was awesome. She knew the menu inside and out, answered all of our questions, and made sure we understood how everything worked. You can tell she's experienced and actually cares about the guests having a good time. She really made the whole experience smooth. It runs about $40 per person, which feels fair for all-you-can-eat and the overall experience. For the quality, service, and fun factor, it's well worth it. Fun experience and yummy food - modern vibe! K-Pot in Frederick was absolutely phenomenal! Every dish we tried was delicious. The shrimp shumai, and dumplings were all excellent, but the true standouts were the beef bulgogi and the Hawaiian Bulgogi -- both were incredibly flavorful and memorable. The miso soup ramen was also amazing and the perfect comforting addition to the meal. A huge shoutout to our server, Cece -- she was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and really made the whole experience fun and easy. She guided us through everything and made us feel completely taken care of. Oh KPOT, can you please reupholster your seats? It's very unpleasant to sit in ripped up chairs. Meat options are fine and as expected for KPOT-- sometimes a bit on the salty side depending on the day. Service is attentive and friendly. This is our go-to spot for KBBQ. We always leave full and overall satisfied! But seating needs some help. This location does need some major TLC compared to the other locations. read more

TLDR: This is like the Applebee's of Korean BBQ. Very Americanized with lots of cut corners. If looking for a more traditional Korean dining experience, skip this spot or risk being disappointed. On the way home from a weekend road trip out of the city, we decided to stop here for our first Korean BBQ experience since moving to the east coast. As others have said, the lighting is very dim, which makes it difficult to confirm when your food is done grilling. We opted for the BBQ-only lunch option (not the combo of DIY BBQ and hot pot). The lunch portions are typically smaller with thinner-cut meats. All diners are on a 2-hour time limit, which is reasonable. Rather than provide diners typical Korean side dishes, which is what I always prefer to spend most of my time and calories consuming, there is a buffet that has only extremely limited veggie options. I went for the kimchi and seaweed salad (not a typical Korean side dish, but it was one of the only green things available). The kimchi was definitely a McDonald's-like version of traditional kimchi, not as fully fermented and with lots of filler. The most disappointing part of this chain of restaurants is the dinnerware. It's been widely researched and reported that hot food and plastics do not mix. Given the known carcinogenic effects, I was surprised that the only plates or bowls here are made of plastic. As such, I avoided putting any food from the grill onto my plate and instead ate straight from the grill. Not ideal. As for the usual dipping sauces that accompany Korean BBQ, this was--you guessed it--DIY. I tend to prefer a salt/pepper/oil dipping sauce, but there wasn't really any neutral oil on the buffet, so I went with the vinegar option instead. As for the meat quality, the ones that come marinated are by far of lower quality. I would recommend the beef belly or beef brisket, neither of which is marinated and are much closer to typical Korean BBQ-style meat. My other preferred selections were both types of mushrooms and onion. I also ordered green tea, but it never arrived because they didn't have hot water (what??). Paper napkins (the only option here) are not on the table or buffet and are provided sparingly. Bottom line: Service was good and efficient. Food, ambiance, and dinnerware were extremely lacking. I hear Annandale has authentic Korean BBQ, so maybe try that instead. read more

I enjoyed the hotpot as there's a good selection of items. The Korean BBQ has varied quality of meat; if you get Korean BBQ I recommend getting the thinner meats because the thicker ones were tougher and didn't appear to have as much marbling. The sauce station is great because there are great suggestions of sauce combinations. It was also nice that they offer free fruit juices (in the fridge section) along with the meal. I ordered a Spicy Beef Bulgogi Bento to my door and it was solid. The gyoza - crispy and flavorful. The rice - a perfect accompaniment to the spicy kimchi and beef! We did the 90 minute challenge and were able to save $17 off the bill! My only suggestion is to plan for a bit of a wait. I hate giving a middle-of-the-road review but I'm conflicted. The good: value for the buffet at lunch was good. Choices for the BBQ were varied and tasty. In particular the jumbo shrimp were, well, jumbo. Several cuts of beef, cumin lamb were very nice. Service was ok but we had to ask several times for the rice we ordered. Self serve juices and ice cream were nice touches (but where was hot tea?). The "less good": I'm used to enjoying a variety of banchan with my meal. KPOTs are limited to wakame salad and kimchi off a buffet bar that was a hike from our table (and partially blocked by a service station). Lighting was very poor over our grill; I had to use my phone's light to cook our food. Mushrooms ended up being just very thin slices of king oysters which I generally love but here had little flavor. Spousal Unit said she enjoyed KPOT more than other Korean BBQs in our area, but for a more traditional experience would head to Ellicott City to eat at Honey Pig or the various other choices. Not my favorite location. I have been to Rockville, Germantown, Towson, and now Frederick. The layout of this location is a bit weird. Walkways are a bit narrow and the back is off limits to go around. We were placed in the back so we had to walk farther for everything. The vent that was supposed to suck up smoke was not working and it actually got in the way of cooking. Because of the lighting, it blocked off a good portion of the grill and we couldn't see if the food was done or not (see pic) I would include like a mini lamp to counteract this. The vent wasn't working here so the smoke smell went towards are faces much more prominently than the other locations. This location does off fruit teas that you can just grab. They are quite sweet so I didn't drink too much. They have mango, passion fruit and peach flavors. I thought parking was fine here. Service was normal here and they did a good job. Just comparing locations, this wasn't on the top of my list. read more

I've been to this location twice and the food quality is okay. When I'm paying dinner prices on the weekend, I expect better quality galbi. Also, when I order 4 servings, I thought they would give us at least 4 pieces (party of 4). They gave us two decent pieces and one piece that was just FAT. Why would you even give that to a customer?!? I ordered 3 servings of tofu and they gave us 2 pieces. I don't understand the ordering process. We recently dined here and, as always, Cece made our experience exceptional. Her service was impeccable from start to finish--friendly, attentive, professional, and always one step ahead of what we needed. She truly knows how to make guests feel welcome and valued, and her positive attitude made our visit so much more enjoyable. The food was not quite up to its usual standard this visit. The meat was fattier than expected, which is unusual because we typically have great meals here. I believe we may have simply visited on an off day, as this hasn't been our normal experience. I would also like to mention the booth seating. The booth covers feel inexpensive and were actually scratching my legs, making it uncomfortable to sit for an extended period of time. Additionally, the restaurant--especially the bathrooms--was very warm. I understand it's hot outside and that grills generate a lot of heat, but some additional air circulation would greatly improve guest comfort. Despite those issues, Cece absolutely saved the day. Her outstanding service, attention to detail, and genuine care for her guests turned what could have been a mediocre experience into a positive one. This KPot location is new to Fredrick, glad to see more options in this area tbh. The space is pretty large with plenty of tables. This is a kbbq and hotpot place, a little overwhelming to have both options going at the same time so I just go with one or the other. They have a full sauce bar with a lot of options to make some good dipping sauces! And AYCE fruit tea which is pretty cool to have and pretty decent flavors. This time I got kbbq! What they got right: -the beef belly brisket was very tender and great! 5/5 - the bulgogi was actually decent, good flavor and tender 4/5 - the chicken was not too bad, not dry and decent flavor 3/5 What could use some improvements -Bbq prime brisket, was very tough and chewy, not really a good cut of meat, which is surprising because it looked good! 2/5 Bbq New York strip, was also super tough and chewy, not a fan at all of this cut of meat, seemed too low quality for a strip. 1/5 - the rice, surprisingly, the rice was a bit hard and stale, like overcooked on some parts of the rice and a bit mushy on the other parts. Just not that great. The Korean part of me is sad not to see some of the normal Korean banchan that I like with my Korean foods. The kimchi was honestly a bit strange tasting, not the typical kimchi. Like it had some extra seasoning that was different, more sugar and sesame oil perhaps? Overall, the is is a good introduction to those who haven't had kbbq before, but for seasoned kbbq people, this is just okay, good enough if you don't want to drive to NOVA for the real deal. I really enjoyed the experience of the place. However, I was disappointed by a few things that may make it hard for me to return: -The lighting was really bad. Because of how low the exhaust fans come down to table level, I really couldn't see the cooking area very well. They may want to look into having some additional lighting at the tables. -All the proteins except for maybe two were pre-seasoned/sauced. I would have preferred just plain and raw so I could put my own sauce on. Every sauce contained so much sugar that it burnt when it hit the grill rather than sear. -In addition to having plain/unseasoned proteins, I would have liked it if the meats had come rolled and frozen, as is traditionally. The service was really good and our server changed out the grill quite often. But that did slow down our cooking since we had to wait for it to heat up each time. If I return, it will be to try the Kpot option. But I believe my experience of actually living in Korea at one point may have ruined my expectations for this place. read more

what a great find in frederick! There arent a lot of kbbqs in this area so im glad we found this spot. Our server adrian was amazing. He checked on us several times throughout our meal which is rare especially for all you can eat places. He's a very honest guy and that goes a long way! They have all you have drink fruit juices. The lychee is phenomenal. And they have amazing deals on pitchers to drink with friends. We got a pitcher of sapparo for $20!!! The meat is great as well i will say you just have to order more than one order of the beef belly even for a party of two because it is very small. Other than that the hostess was really my only issue seating parties that just walked in after i had been waiting there longer. All in all i'd come again and again! First time at this location and I'm not very impressed, table was filthy and so was the I pod that you order from, had to have it all cleaned. They made me wait 25 minutes to be seated when there was only about 10 tables taken when we got there. The meat (steak,beef brisket) was tough as shoe leather. The buffet was not full at any time we was there and when we had been there for 1 and a 1/2 hours the waitress comes up and says you only have 30 minutes left are you finished.WTH. I really don't think the wife and will be back anytime soon. Iron Age did the same thing 3 years ago we left and never went back. It's a shame they advertise all you can eat but stick a time limit on it especially when you have to wait for them to bring food to you and you have to cook it your self. read more
