We purchased a new range from SOHNS recently opened Poughkeepsie location and received the same quality service we experienced when we purchased a dishwasher from the SOHNS Walden location several years ago. Victoria, our salesperson, helped us throughout the entire sales process and since our range was not readily available, Victoria kept us informed as to when we could expect delivery. The delivery, installation and gas hook-up were flawless. Nick and Miguel were courteous and knowledgeable when removing our old range, unpacking and installing the new range making sure not to scratch our floors or the new range. Nick and Miguel hauled away the old range and all of the packaging materials from the new range. What we like best about SOHNS is their deliveries and installations are performed by SOHNS experienced employees and not contractors, and they service what they sell. read more

I have bought all my appliances from Sohn's. This year a dishwasher, a washer, a dryer, and most recently a wall oven. The wall oven was installed with a damaged front door. Sohn's has done absolutely nothing to expedite the repair and it has been over a month. Just today they reluctantly gave me the part number. I called GE and will have the part within 7 days. Very poor customer service from Sohn's!!!! In response to Ethan's reply, I have called Sohn's several times over the past month asking for information and today was the first time I ever received any information. I've repeatedly asked to speak with the owner or office manager as well. read more

Edit to add: Ethan, you were the one who attempted to "fix" and "install" this unit. YOU are the reason for all these bad reviews. I hope other owners in this company step in and prevent you from running it into the ground. I gave Sohns multiple opportunities to fix the issue but other consumers should know how you practice business and that even with purchasing the extended wareanty, they are not bound to call you for that service. At the direction of the company you sell the policy for, it is not recommended we call you directly and the entire process goes faster if the consumer contacts them directly. They are also aware of the service issues in the more recent years. I'm sorry you can't find my order(s) but you also can't change your attitude or the past so you looking up my order would be of no help to anyone. Sohns used to be the place to go but with the younger generation taking over, they do NOT provide the same level of service. Ethan told us that installation was an "extra service" they offered and after coming back 3 times, still could not install the appliance correctly and refused to get the correct parts for proper installation. We offered to pay for installation, which is when we were told they do not offer that service. DO NOT CALL SOHNS FOR YOUR WARRANTY. CALL THE COMPANY DIRECTLY AND ASK FOR ANYONE BUT SOHNS to come repair your appliance. They sell it like it has to be them, but it doesn't. Buying local is no longer the best option. Dealing with Shone appliance. Has been a nightmare I purchased a double oven and a refrigerator Specifically GE profile Oven it worked 2 times , It's still not functioning, and Its been 6 months I haven't been able to get any effective support or repair from them They avoid your calls, they never call you back or always have a computer issue so they cannot bring your information up .. some of the help are good listeners, but nothing gets done. And rudest of them all is the lady in charge of Repair. It's a good thing I bought extended warranty. We have had an extremely disappointing experience with both Sohns and GE/Monogram Appliances. On Sohns' strong recommendation, we purchased a GE Monogram range, which has proven to be a major mistake from Day 1, when we purchased the first Monogram, July 25th for $12,000. Now, just 4 months later and the 2nd Monogram Range, the issues are still not resolved. Despite purchasing what was described as a turnkey installation, the first range arrived without being converted to gas and had to be modified in our home. That unit had faulty igniters and, after several service visits, we discovered it also leaked gas--even when turned off. Sohns did replace the unit, but the replacement has exhibited similar and equally concerning problems. The igniters spark intermittently, one burner produces a dangerous blowback of flames, and another heats unevenly, warming only half the pan. It is difficult to understand how Sohns has maintained a century-long reputation for quality customer service. The Monogram range was presented to us as a top-of-the-line model, and for $12,000, we reasonably expected flawless performance and prompt resolution of any issues. Sohns' response--"I highly recommend you communicate your 'frustration' directly with GE/Monogram"-- is unacceptable, especially considering that GE delivered the range directly to Sohns' facility for gas conversion and the defective unit left Sohns' warehouse in that condition. When GE service was finally arranged, the first technician informed us he did not work on Monogram products. Two weeks later, another technician arrived, repeated the same unsuccessful adjustments Sohns' own top technicians had already attempted, and concluded that nothing more could be done. The Monogram representative subsequently claimed the unit was "working as intended," even after reviewing video evidence showing the igniters sparking continuously when the oven is on. The issue persists to this day, leaving us with a malfunctioning and potentially unsafe appliance. Sohns assured us that GE/Monogram offered the best service record, even stating they could "come out at 2:00 in the morning if needed." Considering our experience, such claims now feel cavalier. Describing our concerns as merely "disappointing" or "frustrating" minimizes the seriousness of a safety-related issue involving a $12,000 appliance that has never functioned properly. Based on Sohns and GE/Monogram's responses, it appears we are expected to accept that: *Igniters should click intermittently when a burner is on simmer. *Igniters should click every time a burner is on simmer, and the oven is on; *Blowback of flames toward the user is considered "normal operation"; and *Video evidence of malfunctioning igniters does not constitute proof of defect. Such explanations are unreasonable and unacceptable. In conclusion, Sohns' dismissive recommendation that we "communicate our frustration directly with GE/Monogram" is objectionable. We cannot, in good conscience, recommend Sohns or GE Monogram based on this experience. read more

I have shopped at Sohn's for 35 years. I needed a vent repair and stove repair on my stove and hood. Last October, they came and then ordered the parts. About once a month, I'd call for a status. The answer never varied: "Your parts are on order." In January, the stove parts, were in, so I said to go ahead at least with that. They failed to adjust the air/fuel mixture corectly.In March, I called and was told the parts for the vent were never ordered because they didn't have the serial number. I called the manufacturer, and had everything within twenty minutes. I called Sohn's, who then had me re-hash the entire story. They were going to charge me a service call for that repair, and another one for their faulty stove repair. My advice? RUN. Mama told me not to do business with people who refuse to tell the truth. read more

Update: It has now been exactly one year since we bought our Bosch dishwasher frm Sohn's. When it broke down the first time, the only help we received from Sohn's was the phone number for Bosch. They made it clear that we were on our own. The machine was only four months old and we paid a bundle for it. Over the last year, we have had repair people come out at least four times. They changed part after part including the entire motor, but each time the repair failed during the first use after the "repair". We made endless calls to the repair people and Bosch. Finally Bosch took pity on us and we now have a new dishwasher on the way. Bosch was almost going to send it to Sohn's so they could deliver and install it. Thank God we were able to have it sent somewhere else. read more

I do not suggest wasting your time going to Sohn's. A lot of local people swear by this store for appliances but I beg to differ. This place is extremely outdated, smells of mold and has carpet floors and leaky ceiling with buckets everywhere to catch the dripping water. Very old appliance store. They have a lot of outdated appliances they are selling off the showroom floor for FULL list price that they were five years ago. Every appliance brand that is advertised on their website they no longer carry. They only have GE and a very small Wolf selection. Don't go here if you expect to see or "feel" an appliance you want to purchase because the showroom is minimal. The motherboard was hit with a surge while we were on vacation.The guy that was house sitting called Sohn`s late Friday and they came on Monday found out what was wrong got the parts and had it fixed before we got back.I had forgotten that I had taken out insurance on it ,so when I called to find out the bill,she said it was covered under insurance, I have been happy with their service.Now the ice maker is not working correctly and they said they would be here soon to see what was needed. read more

Ordered a new GE washer and dryer. When they came to deliver the unit they moved my old units out and the new ones in. After they were installed I went to look at them and both were damaged. The dryer had a blue mark on the right side and the washer frony panel was scratched. They offered me a $75 damage credit which I refused. I told them I wanted damage free appliances and they got and took them back. I would not recommend this business to anyone. They don't offer good service and prices are higher than big box stores. This is why small businesses can't compete and are all going out of business. Never again. read more

Sohn's was highly recommended to me, so when I needed a new washing machine I didn't hesitate to go there. The day the machine was delivered the technician installing it had a hard time getting the lid unlocked. When I got home, I couldn't wait to washed my first load. I attempted to do a second load right after ( I was backed up cause I was w/o for a few weeks) and the machine did not work. I called them immediately and explained that my BRAND NEW MACHINE that was JUST DELIVERED a few hours ago was not working. I was told to pull the plug and wait 10 mins. After a few more calls they agreed to come out and fix it. They came and changed the lid lock and a few other parts (on a machine that was less than 24 hours old) and finally I had a working machine...for about a week!!!! Again we called and they agreed to come out and fix. I insisted on a new machine. I felt after spending $1,283.40, the machine should work ALL the time, not just occasionally (silly me). My husband spoke to Dave, the VP and he insisted on fixing it. My husband said if it does not work one more time we want a new one. Dave said, "OK". Just to give you an idea, we ordered the machine 6/2/21, it was not delivered until a few weeks later...today is 8/17/21...so it's not like this is all happening over 6 months. All this is within a few weeks. It's broken more than it works. 7:30 am I put a load in...after work I went to take them out and my clothes are sitting in dirty water with an error message on the screen. The machine won't start. I am so disgusted by how I was treated by them on the phone. I am resentful of the fact that I look like some crazy, irate woman because rightfully so, I lost my patience at this point. Am I crazy to just want a working machine? The man on the phone told me the manufacturer will not take the machine back. It has to be fixed. I told him, why not argue with them that their machine is broken, I'm the one that gives you the money!!! Or if you're so reputable, take the loss and give your customer a working machine! I was told Dave never said I could get a new machine(so now I'm a liar), I have to just accept that they will come and "fix" it again and I was belittled by the bitch that schedules the repairs because when I was on hold I was speaking to someone in MY HOME explaining what was going on and had cursed while talking to my own friend. I didn't even know she came back on the phone. Guess it made her feel authoritative to tell me she was going to hang up on me. Glad she was able to put another feather in her cap. So now I have an appointment "either Thursday or Friday" and "I don't know what time". All while my clothes get a good soaking for 3 days in dirty water because I don't know how to get it out of the machine. Maybe I should siphon it out with my mouth. I know... TERRIBLE customer service. ordered my new kitchen appliances back in March before closing on our new home. Went into the store to switch my fridge from a regular to a counter depth side by side. Terri had showed me that fridged air was making a brand new side by side counter depth fridge and it was the first of its kind. I said great I'll take that one. Weeks and weeks go by and I call to check in on the order and I double check many times to make sure the fridge is correctly ordered. One woman says he's you have counter depth then 3 weeks later I call again and they say that my fridge isn't counter depth. I explain to them that is what I came into the store for back in March and it should have been that. They tell me the only way to fix the problem is to order a new fridge that cost $1000 more than the other one because all my other appliances are already at the warehouse. I tell them I can't afford the extra cost and they say nothing. I didn't make this mistake, you guys did, but I comply and say what ever I'll pay it I need the appliances. as for delivery day, I tell Terri yet again since you guys can't deliver on weekends, I'm not requesting off from work for them to come here, they can be delivered on the 29th. However, I am leaving for vacation that day so I need them here as soon as their 1st delivery like 8:30 in the morning. She said no problem they can be there as early as you need them to be. I said okay great thank you. It's delivery day & they tell me they are going to be here @ 12/1 pm. I said that is unacceptable I need you here before that time because I told Terri I was leaving today for vacation. I call the store and they say I don't know why she told you that because they don't even get here until 8:30 for delivery. I said I don't know but they need to get here sooner than 12/1 because I'm leaving for vacation. There response ill ask the delivery people. Sohns came extremely close to blowing up our home with us in it, a number of months ago. We purchased a gas stovetop from Sohns and were informed their installer Keith could connect our gas line to the stovetop as part of the installation. He came and was unable to complete the installation due to missing a few parts with the gas top stove. He informed us he'd be back the next day to complete the installation. During that evening I noticed a slight smell of gas, which got stronger throughout the evening. This seemed unusual and I checked the area where the stove was installed (but not connected to the gas) and it was difficult to track the smell. Before bedtime I noticed the smell was quite strong and went outside around 1 am to inspect the outside gas lines. To my complete shock and horror it was obvious that propane gas was spewing into our basement with a very strong flow. Upon inspection within a minute I realized that the installer had connected an old gas line with two outflows. One of the outflows was releasing a significant amount of propane gas into our basement from our 500-gallon tank without any restriction. The basement was filling with propane and because propane gas is heavier than air was becoming a secondary tank which was totally unsafe and essentially a bomb. I immediately closed the value on the gas tank and attempted to vent the basement. When it as apparent that my efforts were not enough several hours late I contacted the gas company and the Gardiner Fire Dept. to assist me. When the gas company arrived in early morning they were shocked how incompetent the installer was in connecting the gas line and repaired the damage and we awaited the Fire /Dept. for assistance. When the Fire Company arrived they were extremely concerned with the situation and evacuated everyone from the house and vented the basement over three hours with several large exhaust fans. When we informed Sohns Appliance store of what happened they acknowledged that a mistake might have been made with no apology or corrective action. I was shocked that even a week or two later no one from their store had acknowledged the situation and when asked they indicated that their installer Keith was a independent contractor and that were not responsible for the problem. Essentially Sohn's does not care about the safety of the appliances it installs. They do not accept responsibility for the grievous mistakes of their installers that they have contracted with. They did no seem to care about customer service and safety. We make these statements based on an experience with them that nearly resulted in the deaths of everyone living in the house. We could have died as a result of their negligence. Sohn's made no attempt to reach out to us or to find out how we were doing. They did not offer an apology or make any attempts to rectify the situation. They do not accept responsibility for employing such a sloppy and unprofessional individual. They have not even been willing to reimburse us for the additional costs incurred from Heritage energy to fix the faulty work and replace the lost propane. I would recommend staying as far away from this company as you can. read more

Having found myself in need of a new stove i noticed a flyer by this company in our local paper. on the front page of their flyer they advertised a Samsung oven/range with a, $75 mail in rebate on delivery. When we got there a man said that they do not carry Samsung and,that while they could order one they don't install or service them. when we asked about the flyer he indicated that they get the flyers but don't aporove the copy. My husband and I have "shopped local" for decades, always returning to Sohn's - even though, historically, our satisfaction with the appliances and related service was marginal. We are now Michael's Appliance customers after entering the Sohn's store Saturday morning in NEED of a washer and having two generations of ownership watch as we were turned away. Our Sohn's machine of just 3.5 years had died an untimely death with wet clothes in the drum. We were hoping for delivery early in the week by being there just after opening on Saturday. Even when we selected a floor model alternative to our first choice, we were told it would be 7-10 days to get a floor model delivered WALKING distance from the store!!! I'd shopped online with Amazon, looked through Sears, Aafes online as well as the West Point Px to no avail. Sohns saved me more money than all of the aforementioned options without a second thought. My salesman even talked me into a more realistic choice with a lower price tag. All of that and contributing to a local, family run business makes all the difference. I purchased a washer and dryer from Sohns as well as appliance removal for my old washer. I family member awaited their Monday delivery as I was at work. The driver did not inquire about the appliance, which was in the bathroom, and my family member forgot. When I got home I gave Sohns a call and for days I got the good old run around regarding a date for their return to remove the old appliance. I was told several times that Dave would return my call advising me of which date they could return. When I called that final time I asked if could wait on the phone for the manager Dave, as he had not returned my call. The woman on the other line advised me that I could indeed wait on the line so I could "be a b*!@#" to him, too. She also blamed me for the appliance not having been removed. I've never before treated that way by someone with whom I was doing business. In the end, Dave was a pleasant individual and did resolve my problem, but only have hostile treatment.
