All I've had here is the sushi, so that's what I'm rating. The review is based on three visits. This is one of those places with hot and cold buffet options, but I've never tried those. On the far left, is a sushi bar with sushi chefs continually refilling a sushi buffet. The sushi is fresh and filling. There are about 10-12 options, laid out on trays in front of the sushi bar. As supplies of each are depleted, the chefs come out and replenish them. So the sushi is freshly made. I've had rainbow roll, salmon avocado roll, salmon nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, a salmon/tuna/yellowtail roll, and shrimp nigiri. If you buy more than $14 in sushi, you get a free miso soup, which comes with fresh chopped scallions and tofu cubes. It's a bit expensive for a daily lunch, but fresh and delicious for a day that you're hungry and craving sushi. My one complaint - the rolls fall apart more than I'm used to as I pick them up to eat with chopsticks. Not sure why that is. Maybe there is less overlap at the joint, or less complete sealing. It's crowded and hectic and again, there are so many choices that it's overwhelming. The checkout line moved quickly. And the food itself was of decent quality (with both healthy and not-so-healthy options). I'd recommend most everything you see pictures on my plate EXCEPT the home fries, which were slightly undercooked and this mushy inside. But for $11 or so, I was pleased with my meal overall. I also found myself wishing that an outpost like this would open in the renovating Walter Reed site. Soho was a serendipitous discovery, and it was right next to my bus stop on 13th street. The place was clean and empty around 9pm, and I was very happy with the breakfast selection. Having seen the set up for the FROYO BAR, the Mongolian grill section (?!?!?!), and the sushi bar, I had a lot of expectation and came back around noon for lunch. AND LUNCH DIDN'T DISAPPOINT, and it hasn't disappointed anyone at work because I told everyone and they all love this place so much. The sushi mix-and-match is the best deal in town, especially the seared spicy salmon sushi. It's really easy to get too much food here, but I have found my sweet spot, and when you get more than $10 of sushi they give you a free miso soup! They also take Apple Pay which is amazing because I dont want to dig out my wallet when I am balancing all of these food containers. SO GO HERE AND ENJOY YOURSELF! Stopped by the other day for lunch with a friend. This place is huge with lots of food options - by the pound. There is also a Mongolian BBQ station that we had food from. The bowls to setup food for the BBQ are quite small and I could hardly get one serving piled up in one of them. I did note that folks were filling up the bowl twice (after handing over the first round to the chef). They have quite a few options for the cooking oils and condiments to go along with the BBQ. I was lucky to have concocted a decent mix of flavor and spice! They also have plenty of seating for in-house dining and we were able to find empty tables even during the busy lunch time. I think 3.5 stars is about right. SoHo is great if you're with people who either want (1) different things, (2) buffet food, or (3) sushi or Mongolian wok. I'm not a huge fan of the price-per-pound buffet (I've gotten it a few times but am never all that satisfied with my full meal), but this could also be because I don't care for buffets all that much. I do think their sandwich bar is decent, and their fries are so-so. I recently discovered the Mongolian wok, which is pretty neat. How it works is: you fill up your metal tray (or trays) with raw ingredients and hand them to the chef behind the counter, and he'll cook them right up. If you don't have noodles in your bowl, he'll add some rice to your veggies and meat. Also, after you hand him your tray(s) make sure to give him a bowl with your mix of sauces, which are on the right side of the counter. I thought it tasted great, but it is on the pricier side. It's a quick stop for lunch, but not usually my first pick. Some of my colleagues love it, but I only ever really go when someone else suggests it first. read more

I've been here once or twice for the buffet and was never impressed, but today my dad was in the DC area and swung by my workplace to give me one of Soho's newest signature creations, cup bap (also known as cup rice). Cup rice is the street food, Korean fusion version of bibimbap. For a dish that's supposed to be easy to eat, cup rice typically has a lot of different flavors and ingredients. It's put in a small container (cup), so that it's easy to eat on-the-go. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about cup rice at work; people tell me that the lines get long in Soho solely because of the cup rice's popularity. While I didn't go inside Soho myself to get the cup rice, my dad tells me that they offer a variety of meats to top your cup rice - pork, chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu. You can also choose how spicy you'd like the cup rice (1 being mild, 5 being hot). The hotter you want your cup rice to be, the more sauce they squirt inside of your order. The cup rice is comprised of: your filling of choice, a little bit of rice, Korean glass noodles, two tiny fried dumplings, some shredded lettuce, onions, and the star of the show...SRIRACHA MAYO. And lots of it. I literally got 5-6 bites into the cup rice before I gave up. I've been working near this location for almost 4 years and I have to say you get the best bang for your buck here. Not necessarily on the hot bar, but at the main ordering station. They have a second station which offers hibachi style food for $11. The hot bar is "pay per pound" and it can get pretty expensive depending on how hungry you are. Breakfast is pretty darn good. You can get eggs, bacon, home fries, and two pieces of toast for under $4.50 The portions are very generous as well! The same applies for lunch. You can get a LOADED half pound bacon burger, with a container filled with fries, and drink for $9. It's actually more like $7 but my bottled Arizona iced tea upped the price a bit. They have tons of different sandwiches to choose from. Everything is under $10 and made to order. The inside has plenty of seating and is great for groups. It's always clean and the lines move pretty quickly. I don't usually eat from the hot bar, but they try to keep it stocked with fresh food. The Asian cuisine is usually what I would go for and it's pretty tasty. Just don't get too greedy or you will wish you ate in somewhere. Trust me, I've spent 16$ here before lol. read more

My sushi, for a buffet, was very good enough. The magic: I heard a familiar voice. It sounded like a colleague with whom I'd practiced law in the late 1980's and early 1990's in Chicago, but hadn't seen or heard from since then. I turned around. No one. Googled him. Found him practicing in DC. I called. I asked him if he'd had lunch at Soho Market. He had.
