Okay this a mixed bag review. The staff was great, everyone from the door man to the front desk person. The rooms are small but newly renovated and nice. The has a lot to do with the fact that it is in New York City. This would be a five star review except we had a really negative experience in the main restaurant. Of course I forget the name now but it's not the diner. It's the restaurant on the lobby floor. I'm not one to really complain, but my food was so salty. I was unable to finish it. Our waitress disappeared for a majority of the time and honestly, those are the two main concerns we had. My husband and I are both people who are non-confrontational but this time we felt like we needed to speak to a manager. I ordered the steak and egg breakfast steak isn't something that I often get, but I wanted to treat myself on vacation. I cannot explain to you how salty it was. I don't think I'll be eating steak for a few months. lol even the eggs and the side salad was very salty. My husband dish did not have the same salt level and he really enjoyed his egg sandwich. The manager was very accommodating and listened to our concerns and came back with solutions which we weren't trying to gain anything by talking to her, We just wanted to share our experience. I will wrap this up by saying our experience dealing with the doorman are experience eating in the diner, and our experience with any staff was exceptional. I would stay here again I just would not order the steak and eggs! read more

It's been a few years since I was last here. The hotel still looks good. A little dark on the entry but by the time you make your way to the second floor check in you are acclimated. Plus, the open lounge and bar are steps away. Each a good respite from the bustle of SoHo. Rooms are typical Manhattan size but well appointed. The Marshall Bluetooth speaker is a cool addition. Room service is prompt and good. We like staying here and enjoy returning here after a day in The City. Give them a try. read more

My husband and I stayed at the SoHo Grand over Labor Day weekend and we had such a lovely time. Our room had a view of the Empire State Building. There were 3 staff members that stood out upon our arrival. Nathan greeted us when we drove our car up to the entrance. He was friendly and helpful with our luggage. Our room was not ready so we went to the Grand Room and the host Aiden greeted us with such kindness. As Aiden was showing us our table he was attentive, professional and a delight to interact with. Finally, we met with Denise C. and she was such a breath of fresh air. It was also nice to see her interaction with her co-workers. The positive exchanges were nice to see. read more

This was my first time staying at the Soho grand Hotel and it was an experience. From the valet checking us in to the bell hopper to the front desk everyone was so kind. I wish I would've reviewed this hotel sooner to give a shout out to the two gentlemen that talk to me every single day I was there and gave me so many awesome recommendations you know who you are. The location of this hotel is prime. It was easy to get around and find so many things to do around the area. The bed was so comfortable and loved the walk-in shower. I have now gone to Soho Grand Hotel over a dozen times this year and I truly cannot say enough good things about it. The staff is incredibly courteous, helpful and very caring. I love the bar area as I have met so many new friends being in there and the bartenders already know my drink of choice so when I walk in they make it for me without me saying a word which I found so genuine and caring and we always shake hands and say good to see you, and their club inside called The Club Room is SO much fun, great crowd of all ages enjoying with great DJ's with beautiful decor and the energy there is just so authentic and fun, making new friends there, is easy, and Jade who is in charge there, has really done a magnificent job making everyone feel welcome and bringing a fun, enthusiastic energy. The Soho Grand Hotel is such a beautiful place with a classic, old-fashioned style theme. The diner was also nice, and the food was delicious. I love that the diner is quiet and you can stay in there for a while to do some work. I loved the wall of photos of famous people from old movies, which gave the hotel so much character. You will also find old fashion phones, lamps, curtains, and things like that around the hotel. The conference room was spacious and well-kept, It was perfect for a meeting and gathering I had. The staff were also very nice and friendly. The rooms were elegant, and are a nice size. I been to a lot or hotel stay and this one is my new favorite hotel to stay in the city. I had a great experience at the SoHo Grand. Our room was booked last minute and was on a lower floor but was beautiful, not too loud and large for a hotel room in NYC. Greeted with a glass of prosecco, robes in the room and I loved the bar in the hotel. My one complaint is the we were initially turned away from the "club" because my partner was in a T shirt, so we went upstairs to change and when we got inside, there were people in tracksuits and much more casual attire. Other than that I loved my stay and will stay again in the future. Lucia's pizza across the street is incredible. read more

Stayed at the Soho Grand expecting a true 5-star experience, but it felt more like a 3-star at best. The rooms are overly furnished with unnecessary pieces that make the space feel cramped rather than cozy. Lighting is another issue--very dim and not at all inviting or aesthetically pleasing. Definitely not the best choice for families. At night, the vibe completely shifts with a club and lounge scene that brings in a younger crowd dressed for nightlife. Not ideal if you're traveling with kids or looking for a quiet, upscale experience. Staff was friendly and location is convenient, but overall, this hotel is trying to be trendy at the expense of comfort and practicality. Me and my fiancé stayed here for Valentine's Day weekend and Soho Grand did not disappoint! We spent lunch and dinner at the lobby bar and it is so chic and fabulous. Andres greeted and seated us both times and was such a charming angel, and even took the time out to take a few pictures of me and my friend later that night. 10 out of 10 recommend and can't wait to come stay again. Also get "the spa" drink! (If you like gin.) Andres suggested it to me over the margarita and I'm so happy he did because that's what I had all night and it was so yummy!! read more

I had an amazing stay from Friday-today! The Hotel is chic and dog friendly! Pearl and Vienna LOVED the exclusive dog park and met many friends. I got to eat at The Soho Diner, Gilligans, and Grand Bar and Salon with my pups. Everyone from the check in staff, doormen, housekeepers and waitresses and waiters/hosts made me feel at home and were friendly. This is the best dog friendly hotel in NYC and there is no dog fee!! I read through the negative reviews to better understand why the 3.5 rating on Yelp... honestly our stay was exceptional- to the point where at certain moments it feels like a 5 star hotel... Prosecco upon checkin, early check in if they have enough rooms, great doormen who get your bags and take them to your room in a super busy area... this one doorman had been working there two decades !! He was fabulous and I wish I remembered his name... From my first phone connection with Mark Perez asking that our Amex room upgrade please be denoted, I was impressed... he asked about our trip and I explained it was an auspicious time of year as Persian new year and we were meeting family- then also as a front line worker feeling burnt out and ready to unplug... he shared his wife is also a therapist and he understood ... upon checking in Andrew made us feel like family and Genesis was a doll with our various questions ... the room and bottle of wine with gorgeous card brought tears to our eyes- when your job is to care for others being cared for means a lot !! We ate at all three spots (diner / lounge / jazz club) and they were all tasty and fresh flavors- drinks were excellent !! Music from DJ in lobby bar and jazz in jazz club where fabulous!!!! Such a wonderful overnight stay with my mom and sister for a brief girls getaway. The staff and attention to detail are what truly sets this hotel apart, but the space itself is quite beautiful. From checkin to checkout we were consistently impressed with the staffs attentiveness. The standout here is Jose, the bellman/doorman. What an incredible human. He knows everyone who walks by. He doesn't miss a beat helping everyone with their bags, directing the cabs, helping you into your car, and never ever seems to distracted or busy to flash you his big smile and make you feel so welcome. The room itself was beautifully adorned. Average size for a city hotel room. The bed was very comfortable. Our only complaint was that the A/C kept the room hotter than we wanted, despite turning down the thermostat. We truly cannot wait for an excuse to come back to this lovely spot! read more

It was my husband's birthday. He mentioned wanting to go to The Club at the Soho Grand. Because I wanted to ensure a great experience, I actually called to make a reservation, the young lady said that because there was just 2 of us, it would be easy to get a reservation for 7pm. She told me the music started at 7 so it would be perfect for dinner and the entertainment. Got to the hotel for them to tell me there was a private buy out and we could not have a reservation despite the reservation being in RESY. Though I am sure it was not intentional and the host was remorseful, I would have expected for her to offer to make a reservation for another time and complimentary dinner or at least drinks and apps. It was super cold and we had a $80 Uber ride. QUITE DISAPPOINTING. Luckily, I asked the concierge if she had any recos and she got us a reservation at Forge-relatively close. Thank you to the staff at Forge for a nice meal and for the concierge who facilitated the reservation. read more

its a great location and the lobby, etc nice. room also nice with a big bed, ok view, working shower, etc. didn't check out the gym, but they had one there. instead went on a great run as the greenway nearby. problem (and a big one) is that the AC in the room didnt work at all - my room warmer than the hallway. didn't figure it out until the middle of the night as i was tired, but slept like crap. if i stayed here again, would need to make sure that was working, but for the price that i paid (i think $500 or more) that's not in the zip code of acceptable. read more

This was easily one of the dirtiest hotels I've ever stayed in. My room initially for the first 24hours wouldn't get cooler than 72degrees. After letting the front desk know, a maintenance employee showed up with a new air filter. If I could have taken a picture of the old air filter he removed from my room, you would be mortified. It was utterly repulsive. I then spoke to other colleagues the next day and several colleagues have had the same cooling issue, reported it to the front desk, and it's usually resolved when they were not in the room/out for the day. (as my company spends a considerable amount of money on a quarterly basis with this hotel). There was candy spread stuck on the floor near the bed so it had to be mindful or it would constantly get on my socks. The espresso machine was FULL of dust and debris, it was nauseating. There was mounds of dust in many areas especially the bathroom under sink area. The water in the shower seeps out of the door and created a decent size puddle outside of the shower every time i took a shower. The sheets had a very noticeable red stain Overall for how much this hotel cost per night, I was wildly disappointed. I've don't think I've ever been so surprised at a hotel experience ever. The front desk and bell staff were genuinely warm, kind, and welcoming. However the hotel's overall condition is in need of thorough review of how it is maintained and up-kept read more

The hotel was OK - nothing super fancy but comfortable. My rating is for the location. Incredibly noisy - the traffic as well as the nightclub within the hotel (Thurs/Fri). NYC is noisy, no question but this location even more so. We have stayed at other locations and not experienced anything like this time. The thumping and pulsating of the music came through the vents up into the early hours. The other thing was we were slapped with an 'additional tax' bill after the fact that was not made evident at the time of reservation. With the plethora of choice of hotels in NYC especially at this price level, I would not recommend nor go back to this hotel. read more
