I've been going to Soho's for a lot of years (since it opened, if I recall correctly) and I've always thought it was "good-to-very-good." We went back tonight for the first time in about a year, though, and it seemed like they'd *really* upped their game, food-wise. Everyone at the table loved what they had. My meal (shrimp and scallops with creamed spring peas, shredded carrots, and pancetta with risotto cakes) was *absolutely* delicious with incredible depth of flavor. The sauce (which is where the pancetta came in) was somehow incredibly rich but, at the same time, not overly-heavy. It was fabulous. And my new favorite thing may be risotto cakes. read more

How many ways can I say "dreary"? Beautiful space that is ruined by tacky décor completely obliterating the architectural integrity. On a Saturday night when the town was full of people, we counted 14 people in the dining room at 9pm. Food was okay but nothing great. Staff and servers: disinterested, listless and unwelcoming. Windows covered with drapes and tacky stained glass. Cheap baubles hanging from ceiling, lights too bright, making for no ambiance. This place needs a total makeover. read more

Best of all, the staff is very understanding and accommodating of a family member's food allergy. This was a great find on our way home from Myrtle Beach. Their pastas are fresh made and the kids liked the fire baked Pepperoni and Sausage pizza. Husband had the Pollo Alfredo and I had the Spaghetti Puttanesca with Homemade Meatballs and a side of Spinach with Roasted Pine Nuts. Fresh seafood was available but we were seafooded-out after a week in Myrtle Beach. They have a great market attached to the restaurant with fresh produce. My husband and I were at SoHo 's several months ago and it still bothers me that we wasted our hard earned money on such a horrible experience.We could stand out in zero temp.,soaking wet with no coat and have a more pleasant experience! The food was bland, cold and nobody cared! The waiters and staff could care less! Maybe it was my husband was using a rolling walker a result of recent back surgery! Who knows what their problem was! Having just come from Charleston, SC perhaps my sights were set too high. However I could not have been less impressed with Soho. The food was, at very best, average (think Olive Garden). The service was, at best, rude and rushed. From the time we were seated to the time the check was thrust in my face was 30 minutes. My wife had the lasagna which consisted of store bought pasta and ground beef. There was absolutely no cheese in the dish save for the Parmesan on top. I had a very bland piece of Tilapia that was covered with a tasteless cream sauce of some sort. At no point during the meal were our water glasses refilled (we had wine as well) nor were we even asked if we wanted dessert. Lest you think we are harsh critics, we are not. I understand that everyone has an off night. But given the a la cart nature of the menu and the $70 bill for 2 people I was far less than impressed. read more

First off, let me say I consider myself a good Italian cook and I am fussy about the quality of food that I eat at restaurants. A good Italian restaurant does not pre-cook pasta with the excuse on the time it takes. It only takes anywhere from 2-12 minutes depending on the type of pasta. I ordered the Thai Beef dish that was bland and the beef was grisly. I then sent it back to get Chicken Cacitorre . The pasta was mushy and the chicken was over cooked. This used to be one of my favorites, but after my last visit I won't return. After waiting several minutes for a host to take our name, one finally arrived and shouted "You know there are other people ahead of you?" I said, "Yes." Then he said, "You want to put your name down?" I said, "Yes." He huffed. He took my name and then I thought better of it and told him to remove our name from the list. Soho has good food and good atmosphere. Three of us stopped by on a Thursday evening. We loved watching the cooks in the kitchen and guessed that their fresh food came from the farmer's market next door. We had the five cheese ravioli with mushroom sauce, Mediterranean pasta and shrimp and veal meatballs on orzo. Good portions and wonderfully flavored sauces! Highly recommend all three. We also enjoyed the cranberry and walnut bread served to the whole table. There was limited parkimg so be prepared to hunt for awhile. I am not even kidding you, I would kill for their SOHO Italian Wrap. It is so incredibly delicious that I want it every single time we go to Charleston. We have been to Soho's many times and most of the food is pretty good. Last time we went, their soup of the day was cream of carrot. Sounds weird right. Well it was amazing. The server brought us a taster and we were all so sold that we each got a cup to go with lunch. Their sandwiches are all pretty good and the pizzas are ok but if you want something out of this world, go with the italian wrap. You won't be sorry. The prices are decent and the service is always great. I'd highly recommend Soho's to anyone looking for a great lunch. We have never had dinner there, but I bet it is great too! read more

Nice place to eat if looking for something different. Food as always been delicious and price is very reasonable. Like today, I wanted to go somewhere different, have a Sunday brunch - had the Salmon eggs Benedict which was very tasty. My wife had soup and special sandwich of the day was also delicious. Even though the restaurant was hardly full on a Saturday afternoon, it took quite some time for the wait staff to come take our order. The waiter was a little too informal and chatted us up about nonsense. The food came out way too quick, believe it or not. We chose a sit-down meal over fast food for a reason. The meatball sandwich hoagie was not toasted, nor was the bread for my salad. My steak salad was soaked with dressing, which should be served on the side so that you can add as much as you want. The wine was very expensive for the mediocre quality and we were never asked if we wanted another glass of wine or beer. I really hope Charleston has more to offer for Italian food than this. I have eaten here several times and each time have thoroughly enjoyed the food. The servers are attentive without being either snooty or cloying. The menu is creative and varied. Decor is very hip. Sometimes it can get a bit noisy due to the open space and hard surfaces, but it's still one of my favorites for taking out-of-town guests! read more

My wife and I were visiting Charleston on our way to NC and stayed at the Marriott. We decided to walk over to the capital market, but were too late for the market and got caught in the rain so we went to Soho's for dinner. It was the perfect recuperation. We started off with some decent wine then split a caprese salad. She had the Cajun pasta. She said it was good but not great. I had the veal meatballs with orzo and a marinara sauce and it was delicious. I finished off with Dead Guy Ale, which they had on tap. The waiter was attentive and johnny on the spot the whole time. After a long day of traveling from NC, ate dinner here and it was delicious. The hotel recommended this place. I had the chopped salad. It was okay. Would have liked more blue cheese and dressing on it. It was kind of dry. For dinner I had the zucchini walnut lasagna. It was out of this world. I loved it. My mom had the minestrone soup. It was flavorful with some zip to it. My dad had the mussel appetizer with garlic cream sauce. The waiter suggested having it served over linguine for his dinner. He inhaled it. We usually love Soho's, but just had a terrible experience. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our food while everyone all around us was served. When we asked where the food was, the waitress was absolutely hateful. She started out by telling us we ordered one of the five entrees on the Sunday menu that they needed to make more of (which was a lie, because we watched another waitress carry by the same entree and deliver it to a table that came after us). Then she asked us if we just wanted to cancel. This is 40 minutes into the dining experience!! She is so mean, she should not be in customer service. She has brown hair, is slim, and has big bags under her eyes. If you get in her section, RUN. I think she just forgot to put our order in. We ended up leaving 45 minutes after getting there without ever getting any food. read more

I thought the atmosphere was pretty cool and my meal was really good, I had the seafood cannelloni with the seafood sauce that was recommended by the server. My friend had the roasted red pepper ravioli and while the actual raviolis were good but the sauce was actually bland. The bread was really good and the desserts were amazing. We had the cannoli and the gingerbread cake with pumpkin ice cream I think. The building itself was kind of industrial feeling and the wine selection looked pretty good. Service was great. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Charleston. The lasagna is excellent and massive. I mean really massive, I would recommend splitting it or plan on having your leftovers for lunch the next day.
