The freshness of the sushi is something that no where else would be able to beat. The restaurant is located inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel. I went with my friend who is in a wheelchair, and they were so kind and accommodating. They had us seated in the cozy, wheelchair accessible room located next door, and it was such a great experience. The waitress provided us with such great service. Pricey, but excellent quality.

This is the best sushi place in Santa Monica!! The food was delicious, I loved the twist the chef did, the place is very intimate and you feel like in Tokyo ambience was very nice and fun and the service was great

Soko Sushi is the latest restaurant located inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel and Bungalows Ocean/Wilshire in Santa Monica. Limited street and valet parking available. 'Soko,' literally means storeroom in Japanese. Over 2000 years ago, Japanese fisherfolk would wrap their fresh catch with fermented seaweed and salt and store it in darkroom to preserve freshness called 'Narezushi.' This sushi restaurant pays tribute to the Soko but now with refrigeration and advance techniques chef Masa Shimakawa, is skillful and artful in the presentation and quality. The 'Soko logo with the infinity symbol pays tribute to the timeless art of making and enjoying sushi.' This small restaurant has 7 seats inside and 6 seats outside in the hotel lobby corridor. Interior decor mainly features playful art of two faces, which represents the two brothers and fishermen that pays tribute to the fishermen of Narezushi. The menu is very limited and currently only open for dinner. Service was attentive. Mostly ordered Sashimi and Nigiri. Everything ordered was indeed fresh and of high quality, but a tad spendy for the minimalist quantity. The uncomfortable tight seating indoors; it felt like a claustrophobic fish bowl and super busy lobby corridor, no windows or ocean view from inside or the lobby. I am a frequent diner at Nobu Malibu, Matsushisa and Katana and the sushi here at Soko is at par. I do prefer a larger menu selection and the expansive space seating with the unobstructed ocean views. If you can't make it to Nobu Malibu, don't need to dine with an ocean view and want high quality sushi, I recommend the Fairmont Miramar's Soko Sushi!

I came all the way back here because this roll was possibly the best thing I have ever had, ever. I don't normally care for uni but I like Masa's toro uni roll and ...this incredible thing. Don't sleep on the more bespoke selection of white fish too like engawa. The quality and elegant simplicity of masa's creations are always better than the best.

I love this little gem! Tucked away in a corner, off the lobby of The Fairmont hotel in Santa Monica is this sushi boutique with maximum of 20 seats. Chef Masa is back there working hard and creating his magic. I'll be back for more and so should you!

Don't think, just order the omakase. It changes seasonally and is a great value for the quality.

One of my favorite sushi places!! You don't have to think…read moretoo hard about what you're going to order, just go with the flow. I love getting the "THE NOZAWA TRUST ME" and treat myself when visiting LA ($48 for dinner and fullest of the pre made omakase menus | $40 at lunch). If there is a fish you don't love, you can ask to substitute. But I highly recommend you try them all. The fish is so fresh, I love eating there the most because the fish is super cold, and the rolls are crispy hot on the outside and cold inside. BUT, their to-go and delivered options are just as nice and very well presented (see my pics). It's a must when visiting LA!!

So this was definitely the worst omakase style experience I've ever had…read more We did the Don't Think. Just Eat. for $59 each. It involves a sashimi course, seven orders of nigiri and two hand rolls. So the reason they call it the don't think, just eat is that they rush you through the whole process. Everything came out within 40 minutes. I barely had time to take photos and eat before they were back asking for my plate. And some of the sushi did not taste right. It was a little fishy and slimey. I've done omakase and sushi before and this was not the best quality. I wouldn't say we were full because it was good but because they were making you eat so quickly. I wasn't sure if they were just caring more about turning tables until I saw a couple drinking a single bottle of wine the entire time were were being rushed. So maybe it was just this specific course they don't want you to pace yourself. I heard great things so I'm just disappointed.

What started as a quick search turned into one of the best sushi experiences I've had in a long…read moretime. We were in the area for my son's doctor's appointment and discovered this place nearby. What a bonus! If you're anywhere close, it's absolutely worth a visit. The sushi here is next-level. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients--the freshness of the rice, the fish, and the attention to detail in every bite. I started with salmon and tuna nigiri, plus a salmon roll that was cut into small bite-sized pieces. Honestly, I was popping them into my mouth like candy. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. They also have a great selection of hot foods. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by freshly prepared unagi (eel), which looked amazing. They also offer katsu, and other ready-to-eat items. I grabbed a Spam musubi, and wow--it may be the best Spam musubi I've ever had, even better than some I've had in Hawaii. The Spam still had a slight crispiness, the egg added richness, and the seasoning brought everything together with an incredible umami flavor. What I love most is that the place reminds me of a Japanese convenience store (konbini)--but an upscale version. It's like Tsukigi market had a store in Ginza. You can buy fresh seafood, ingredients to make your own sushi at home, or simply grab a meal and enjoy it there. The quality throughout the store is outstanding. The atmosphere is great too. There's always a buzz of people shopping for sushi or enjoying their food outside in the seating area. It feels lively and authentic. One suggestion: try to get there early if you can. They had so many ready-made sushi trays, rolls, nigiri, and prepared foods available, but a lot of them were already nearly sold out by the time I got there. I noticed a sign saying items are made fresh regularly throughout the day, which is a great sign of how popular and fresh everything is. Still, if you want first pick of all the goodies, I'd recommend arriving earlier. My only real complaint is the parking. The lot is small, and during busy times you'll probably need some patience. I visited on a weekday during rush hour, but once I got my food, it was completely worth it. The drive back to Simi Valley flew by because I couldn't stop eating and thinking about how good everything was. I honestly can't wait to find another excuse to come back. This place is such a treat. If you're looking for high-quality sushi, fresh seafood, delicious prepared foods, and a taste of Japan without getting on a plane, this place delivers.

I spoke to one young man about seeing the manager who looked like he was high on everything, he made a motion about poking his head, and told me, "He might be around that corner". I took a little less than two steps to see for myself and nobody was there. I turn back around and he has his back to me while babbling with his coworkers with no mind for anything. Eventually, a lovely girl finally came to my aid as I awkwardly stood there to find this manager, and she made the worthwhile effort to do that. The initial idiot made a quip, "Oh there he is", and I shook my head. It should also be said that the manger isn't exactly a brain surgeon either. They hire privileged idiots with no mind for common sense for the front and regular idiots managing these places. Their sushi and other dishes also looked cheap showcased under their plexiglass. Avoid this place even if you can wriggle some form of parking.
