I always order the shredded chicken flautas with red hot sauce. The flautas are always flavorful and have a generous amount of toppings. The red hot sauce is HOT but I love the flavor so much that I put my tongue at risk every time (haha). Their watermelon juice is sooo yummy! I highly recommend to anyone who loves watermelon! I just placed a order at 1:08pm for a burrito and taco and called at 1:12pm to ask this restaurant to make an easy modification of the burrito order (just rice, fish and salsa) because I can't eat the other ingredients (that Uber Eats doesn't let me take off via the app). I've done this a few times before with no issue. As a matter of fact they've thanked me to letting them know. This time it was even more important because my friend and I will be sharing this food and she is 41-weeks pregnant and very hungry. Well today was totally different. I got this very nasty woman who told me no it's too late and that I'd have to cancel the order (which would cost me $18.13. So I asked is there a way to just modify it still. She said I can cancel and I can place another order. She then hung up on me. So I placed the second order and called the same exact minute this time, and she ignored my call 3x on my phone and 1 time on my other phone. She then cancelled the second order. This customer service was truly the worst I've experienced in a long time and this woman shouldn't be allowed on phones anymore going forward because she's clearly unhappy with her job and knows nothing about having people skills. The menu sounded great, which is why it ordered but unfortunately, it fell short. We ordered via DoorDash on a Wednesday evening. We ordered a few tacos (I had lengua, which was pretty flavorless), an al pastor burrito, and a chorizo quesadilla. The al pastor meat was acceptable, but there was barely any al pastor in it. The burrito was mostly rice, which is one of my pet peeves. The chorizo quesadilla was probably the best part of the meal, even though it was pretty oily. But hey, it is chorizo after all so what can you expect? Another highlight was the red hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's homemade or not but it was excellent - tangy with the right amount of spice. We also ordered a Mexican Coke, which was missing and all they said was that they did put it in the order and that we would need to sort it out with Door Dash. After the meal, we found ourselves chugging water since everything made us so thirsty. Overall, it was average Mexican food, so probably won't be ordering from here again. read more

I ordered this for one of my clients because the price seemed reasonable. I was going to pick up the food and didn't see the venue at first. I finally found it and walked into a dimly lit place that was a bar and grill. I was greeted when I walked in and I proceeded to tell the server behind the bar I was there for a pick up. Such a hidden gem!! I went to Sol Azteca for a holiday dinner with about 20 people. The restaurant itself is very large and nicely decorated. The staff were amazing and super friendly. The restaurant is BYO which makes any dining experience a positive! There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in Jersey City, but everyone at our dinner (all JC natives) were wow'd by the quality of this food. The tamales were probably the best I've ever had, and we tried all 3 varieties. The Mole were my favorite. The menu items are comfortably under $20 (most way under that), which is a rarity in this neighborhood and the cheaper prices in no way suggested cheaper quality. We ordered everything including burritos, fajitas, tostadas, huaraches, tamales, quesadillas, barbacoa platters, grilled chicken salads, flan, tres leche cake, horchata and Jamaica. There was not a complaint or critique at the table. While I didn't try everything personally, I will be back to try more. read more

It was pretty empty inside, but I really like the space and how they decorated. Seems like they do a lot of take out. The waiter brought us chips and salsa and waters right away. Loved it! Chips were fresh with the right amount of crunch and flavor and the salsa was super flavorful. I ordered the Kitchen Salad and my partner ordered sopes. Food was so FRESH AND DELICIOUS, not to mention affordable! I will definitely be coming back ASAP! The place is located on a residential block but somewhat misplaced but The actual space is huge, new, beautiful and clean. They are brand new so they are still settling in it seems but the staff was very friendly. It is BYOB but I found it unfortunate that they don't have a liquor license . They have this beautiful HUGE bar but no alcohol. It could be a super happening place at night for the people in the area, with a dj and booze. The food itself was good. Burrito was a little too much rice, not enough steak. But the chipotle chicken Huarache was excellent and great prices. 2 entrees and guac for 24 bucks. What a steal. They are going to need to make some special events during the week in order to survive- taco Tuesday .... two for one specials ... something, just to get more traffic in there. I ordered ubereats on 4/8/20, 7:34PM I did opt for "contact-less" delivery where they leave the food outside the house/apartment The driver was from in-house because ubereats couldn't give me tracking. 8:05 PM: I got a missed phone call but I assumed it was the delivery, so my brother and I went downstairs just in case. After 5 mins of waiting, and nothing, we went back upstairs 8:06 PM: I got another missed call but, again, my brother and I were downstairs and I left my phone. When I finally got to my phone I saw the second missed call and called the restaurant back and the women who answered told me she would call the driver and call me back 8:10 PM: driver calls me, I answer and said to please leave it outside, go downstairs right away -- nothing. He told me that it was by the door but it isn't?? I checked my neighbor adjacent to my left/right because that's happened before whenever i ordered ubereats in general lol andddddd nothing so they told me they left it outside and someone probably stole it. Even though they kept telling me "well you said leave it outside, you said you wanted contact less, etc" yes I said that, but are you implying you preferred that I didn't and risk your personal driver???? That will go back to the restaurant to interact with other employees??? That will be around other people's food??? We weren't at fault" I said I didn't have a gate and he said "no you know what I mean, by the door, maybe someone moved it after I place it there but I put it in the right house " after doing that for 3 mins I gave up because it was going no where and I didn't want the food anymore, so I decided to just contact uber. To hopefully the owner reading this, why would someone see you from behind delivering it, and move the food to four houses down, THEN bring it BACK with a note. Updated review on July 20th: Safety protocols are not in place. Staff was not wearing masks nor were they wearing gloves when manually making the mini salsa containers. No hand sanitizers in sight either. I do not blame the staff, it was scorching hot inside on a 97 degree day. The manager/owner did not open the AC for them which is probably why they could not even wear a mask. I will be giving this a few weeks to see if the safety protocols change for the better for both the customer and employees. If they do, I will happily update the ratings as the food is very good and staff is very friendly. But in the time of COVID, there is no room to not take maximum safety protocol. read more

What an awful experience I can see any restaurant having a bad day on an specific item but every item we ordered, we had something negative to say. The Nachos' tortillas fried in over used oil, instead of tasting like a corn tortilla, the old oil made it taste like burnt french fries. Chefs do yourselves a favor and change the frying oil often. Same beef used in the tacos and the enchiladas, I guess they must have a massive amount of pre-cooked chopped beef and just use it to fulfill whatever order comes in and warrants beef. A chicken enchilada was ordered and beef enchilada is what arrived in a tin foil. (we ordered to go) I do not think we'll be ever going to that site.
