    Grilled Chicken Burrito

Nice, convenient place for take-out Mexican food. Service was friendly and the food was always ready on-time. What I've tried so far: - Chicken Burrito - Nice, generous portion. - Grilled Steak Burrito - Also the same big portion. I prefer this over their chicken. The steak is tasty and tender. If you want additional red/green sauce, they'd be happy to give you a small container of it free of charge.

Amazing eats this fella gave it a 10/10 would recommend! Eat here for Tortas !

This fella loved this place and gave it a 10/10! Come here for the juicy tortas! Enchilada was incredible too but we really came for the local Torta

Wow. I'm impressed. The tacos are AS GOOD AS Taqueria. However they are more filled so if you're hungry definitely check this place out. I think my favorite part is that it's byob. So instead of a $10 margarita, I brought my own! If you're even questioning waiting 45+ minutes for taqueria, come try here!

I work in the Jersey City area occasionally and my coworker highly recommended this restaurant. They deliver to my site which is perfect. Mexican food is always my go-to. I always order the shredded chicken flautas with red hot sauce. The flautas are always flavorful and have a generous amount of toppings. The red hot sauce is HOT but I love the flavor so much that I put my tongue at risk every time (haha). Their watermelon juice is sooo yummy! I highly recommend to anyone who loves watermelon! I've ordered via phone or ubereats and have never had a negative experience. I hope to go in-person one day to get the full experience.

The menu sounded great, which is why it ordered but unfortunately, it fell short. We ordered via DoorDash on a Wednesday evening. We ordered a few tacos (I had lengua, which was pretty flavorless), an al pastor burrito, and a chorizo quesadilla. The al pastor meat was acceptable, but there was barely any al pastor in it. The burrito was mostly rice, which is one of my pet peeves. The chorizo quesadilla was probably the best part of the meal, even though it was pretty oily. But hey, it is chorizo after all so what can you expect? Another highlight was the red hot sauce. I'm not sure if it's homemade or not but it was excellent - tangy with the right amount of spice. We also ordered a Mexican Coke, which was missing and all they said was that they did put it in the order and that we would need to sort it out with Door Dash. After the meal, we found ourselves chugging water since everything made us so thirsty. Overall, it was average Mexican food, so probably won't be ordering from here again.

I ordered this for one of my clients because the price seemed reasonable. I was going to pick up the food and didn't see the venue at first. I finally found it and walked into a dimly lit place that was a bar and grill. I was greeted when I walked in and I proceeded to tell the server behind the bar I was there for a pick up. He knew what I ordered and put everything together for me. The server was very nice. I took the food to my client and took my share home. Everything looked and smelled great. The food was pretty good. I order grilled vegetables with rice and it was a good amount of food and everything was reasonably priced.

Soooo delicious!! Literally a gem in this neighborhood. This place is a BYOB joint with authentic mexican food. I had such a filling, fresh and yummy meal here with my friends. We shared the loaded nachos as an appetizer which was rather satisfying! Then literally devoured my veggie enchiladas - the veggies were grilled well, the sauce was delicious, and portion was perfect! My friend enjoyed their meal as well! This place was amazing, the indoor ambiance is mediocre, possibly due to covid/renovation. I think this business runs more on take out perhaps but we enjoyed our homey dine in experience. Also the $ on this awesome food is unbeatable! I can't wait to eat from here again, would love to try their grilled cactus options.

Such a hidden gem!! I went to Sol Azteca for a holiday dinner with about 20 people. The restaurant itself is very large and nicely decorated. The staff were amazing and super friendly. The restaurant is BYO which makes any dining experience a positive! There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in Jersey City, but everyone at our dinner (all JC natives) were wow'd by the quality of this food. The tamales were probably the best I've ever had, and we tried all 3 varieties. The Mole were my favorite. The menu items are comfortably under $20 (most way under that), which is a rarity in this neighborhood and the cheaper prices in no way suggested cheaper quality. We ordered everything including burritos, fajitas, tostadas, huaraches, tamales, quesadillas, barbacoa platters, grilled chicken salads, flan, tres leche cake, horchata and Jamaica. There was not a complaint or critique at the table. While I didn't try everything personally, I will be back to try more.

Checked out Sol Azteca on a Monday night for dinner and was very happy with my meal. This spot is only a block from Van Vorst Park and it may feel out of the way, but it is so close to Jersey Ave. We stopped by Jersey Wine and Spirits to grab drinks since this place is BYOB. It was pretty empty inside, but I really like the space and how they decorated. Seems like they do a lot of take out. The waiter brought us chips and salsa and waters right away. Loved it! Chips were fresh with the right amount of crunch and flavor and the salsa was super flavorful. I ordered the Kitchen Salad and my partner ordered sopes. Food was so FRESH AND DELICIOUS, not to mention affordable! I will definitely be coming back ASAP! Took a star off for ambiance...they are using the take out menu for the table and it's pretty casual inside.

The place is located on a residential block but somewhat misplaced but The actual space is huge, new, beautiful and clean. They are brand new so they are still settling in it seems but the staff was very friendly. It is BYOB but I found it unfortunate that they don't have a liquor license . They have this beautiful HUGE bar but no alcohol. It could be a super happening place at night for the people in the area, with a dj and booze. The food itself was good. Burrito was a little too much rice, not enough steak. But the chipotle chicken Huarache was excellent and great prices. 2 entrees and guac for 24 bucks. What a steal. They are going to need to make some special events during the week in order to survive- taco Tuesday .... two for one specials ... something, just to get more traffic in there. And hopefully an alcohol license soon. Wishing them the best of luck in the area. I will come back to try more things on the menu.

Al Pastor Quesadilla (Pork / Puerco) - good

Ordered quesadillas to go. Their food was very, very flavorful and generous in portion but also very greasy. Good value food however for the greasiness I don't see myself going back to it a lot. Had to wait for around 20 minutes for my order.

    Potato Flauta

The food was really good and the portions were massive! I got the flautas and it tasted fresh and was well made. I also got the horchata which was really good and refreshing as well. Definitely recommend this place.

delivered to the wrong house, the people who live there kindly returned it the next day

Our server was very on top of her stuff, making sure we had everything we needed and we were enjoying the food. She even let us practice our Spanish with her when ordering! My sister ordered the chicken tinga tacos and I ordered the beef birria. Both taco orders came with 5 tacos (because of the deal, it is typically 4), onions, cilantro, lime, and radish. Don't sleep on the radish, it my favorite part to add a nice crunch! Both meats were very flavorful and tender. They also gave us green and hot salsa on the side (green was my fave) and the birria tacos came with some delicious consommé for dipping. We also ordered guac and chips as an appetizer which was very fresh, and our favorite jarritos flavors to drink. It's decorated very nicely inside - no frills, a few tables and chairs inside for dining in and even a bar-style area with stools for those dining by themselves. They also offer takeout of course, but I honestly enjoyed sitting down because everything was very quick and they took great care of us. We walked, but there is only street parking so keep that in mind when traveling here.

However, I recently stopped into their original Jersey City spot for a quick snack at the bar. While my companion ordered a cocktail, I just had a can of Diet Coke, but we shared an order of chips and pico de gallo, which was excellent! The tortilla points were crispy and perfectly salted. The fresh tomato salsa was vibrant and delicious, but we also appreciated the three squirt bottles of more liquid-like sauces they gave us as well. These included one that was more smoky, one that was a medium spice-level verde, and another that was a more fiery rendition. The bar staff was great, and the large dining room was dimly-lit, but decorated with bright, festive colors. I will need to revisit that Orale location for a larger, more substantial meal next time!

I was really torn about leaving this review but here we are. I went to Orale the other day because…read moreI had a craving for tacos and I wanted to be outside and people watch. The restaurant is located in the busy downtown area of Grove St. Jersey City. If you are lucky enough to get street parking great, if not there are some garages you can park in for a fee. I walked up and there were several employees at the entrance to the outdoor street-side patio chitchatting. They were very pleasant and quickly gave me a table. It wasn't busy. That's a key fact. Also I was dining alone. It took about 5 minutes for the waiter to come over and when he did he asked about my water preference and showed me the QR code on the table to get the menu. He left and came back and I gave him my order which was the carnitas tacos and a watermelon margarita. He quickly walked off and the food came out LITERALLY in 5 minutes. I was surprised because I was expecting the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa that's customary at most Mexican restaurants. Also I saw other tables with 2 or more with chips in front of them. So I asked a waitress that was passing by (since my waiter had seem to disappear) if I too can get the tortilla chips and she said it would be extra. Okay...well I started eating my food and my drink came out. The food was good. Flavorful. Temperature wise it didn't come out hot, it was warm... so it's not cooked to order. The drink was sweet and strong. So my reason for the three stars isn't the food or drink but more so for the service I received as a solo diner. My waiter never came back over to check on me! Had he done so I would have easily ordered dessert and something more to drink as I enjoyed the patio area. I had to wave him down to bring my check as he passed my table several times without even looking my way. Piece of me wanted to mirror his service in my tip but I still gave generously just to be a blessing. But I hate that I received poor service because I was a solo diner. I was a little jealous on how he treated the two other tables with 2&3 people. I spent over $50 here and left disappointed. So if you've reached this far, will I go back? Maybe. Just not alone.
