I would give 10 stars if I could, and they deserve ever single star. After placing my order with an extremely nice woman she informed me its cash only, I told her I would go to the ATM and come right back. Her response was "no, you take your time and eat then go" now I was kinda taken aback here because in this day and age this kind of kindness is like seeing a unicorn. I responded stating I didn't mind going to get the money but she assured me it wasn't a problem, she made me feel like I was talking to my grandma. She was so loving and her priority was making sure we were fed and happy. I ordered the gorditas hubby stuck to his mexican usual, the chimichanga. In the picture on the menu the chimi looks like one chimi cut in half but it is actually two full sized chimichangas! My husband opened the box and it was like opening a box of gold lol. They had the most amazing flaky buttery flavor. What's different about their chimi's is they have rice, beans and green chili's wrapped inside. I think there was cheese in there too. Normally, it's just stuffed with meat. The chicken was tender and very flavorful. This meal also came with rice and red beans, and the topping for your chimi. My gorditas was very good as well. They had a nice browning on the bottom and were filled with Mexican goodies. Seasoned meat, beans, lettuce tomatoes, onions, sour cream and topped with queso fresco. It was so good. I was only able to eat 2 and it came with 4. I loved the tomatillo sauce that was served the both our dishes. The aqua de mango was delish, it's big enough to serve two. They also had horchata. I'm sure if they have it every day. After eating, we quickly went to the ATM to pay. I left full, happy and already thinking about what I'm going to order next time I return lol. Let me start off by saying I am frugal AF and an extreme couponer. I love a good deal because it gives me the opportunity to afford another good deal... a BOGO of sorts if you will. Also, we have a large family of 5 and eating out can be quite pricey so it's fun to find a great little place to snack. Anyway, I decided to try this place after seeing the menu prices and reading the reviews on Google. It's right down the street from Riverview/Big Bend area. Plenty of parking and cute little well landscaped spot under trees. Our party of 5 chose to sit outside in the back at a covered lone table with a sink, a tv and a closed bar. The tv had music videos on and the music was a bit loud. It took a while to get service and we needed to scream our order over the music. We ordered 5 waters, chips and salsa, 3 tortas ($4), 6 tacos ($2) and nachos w/the guac on the side. Our meal was brought out separately, the children were served last and 2 of the family members were already done. The chips are awesome. Not sure if they're corn or flour but they're great but the salsa was so-so. The tortas were small and chintzy on the meat and veggie toppings compared to other nearby taco stands (especially Taco Bus). The Picadillo and Carnitas meat was tasty but the Barbacoa was bland and lacking something. The corn tortillas seemed more like flour, soft and doughy. I still don't think they were corn because it certainly didn't taste like it but the tacos were made traditionally with cilantro and onions. The nachos were not great at all however the guac was amazing. We began getting eaten up by mosquitoes so we decided to take the rest to go. Our server never came back so my husband went to pay the bill while the rest of us hightailed it to the car to seek shelter from the bugs. My husband said the bill was not very legible and couldn't understand the breakdown but it came up to $48... which is not at all bad for 5 people but given the fact that the tacos and tortas came up to $24 that meant the water, chips and salsa and nachos was roughly $20-$22. On the way home we tried to break it down. If the waters were $5, the guac was $3, the chips were $3, the salsa was $3 and the nachos were $6-8. I was not expecting to pay for 5 Sams Club water bottles. Also, at most Mexican restaurants chips and salsa are complimentary but here it was $3 for salsa, $3 for chips. The guac was excellent but I though the nachos came with it and I just requested it on the side for the kids. The experience was meh. I will probably order from the to-go window, bring my own water and pass on the chips and salsa to save $10 bucks. Spending $50 a taco stand is a bit much read more

Since we moved here from South Texas, we have been on a search for what we call "real Mexican food". That has been a difficult task in the Tampa area until we found this gem. It is the closest we have found in Tampa, just for that I gave it 4 stars. Some pros: Al Pastor was on point! Great taste, you could tell the corn tortillas were home made. Carne Asada was tastefully seasoned. Salad they offer with meals was fresh and different. Barracho Beans were offered with the meal and absolutely the best thing we had! Perfect! Some cons: Corn tortillas were cold and soggy. We did come at the end of the day so maybe that's why. Carne Asada came out as one big piece and they do not offer knives. Luckily my hubby had a pocket knife handy to cut it up. Cons can defiantly be looked past, we will for sure be back to enjoy more yummy items! read more

The literal best tacos around. I've been coming to Maria's place ever since I was a kid with my parents and I still come here now that I'm an adult. Every other taco stand and restaurant can't even come close to how amazing this place is. You've HAVE to try this place! And for all the city people who are picky about their food and think that you sit down and someone comes to take your order. You're wrong. You have to go to the window and place your order just like any taco place. All the one star reviews about this place are probably by someone who has a short blonde hair who drives a dodge caravan and would like to speak to the manager, like they really don't know what they're talking about. Tacos are good and cheap. My favorite is the el pastor and steak tacos. I tried the chicken and it was under seasoned. I also don't like that they microwave food when you go there at a certain time. I went at 8pm one night and the tacos tasted stale. read more

My wife and I ride the Lithia mountain bike parks often. We recently went with friends. They wanted to stop somewhere for "authentic" Mexican food. We stopped here and were pleasantly surprised. The lady behind the counter is very nice and accommodating. She offered my wife a "sample" of cantaloupe drink, which was delish. She also said to me that she had thought she had my wife order too much food. I informed her that this wasn't a problem, as I would take it home. Those beef tacos were great later at home. I will have to ask her name next time. She said if we didn't like anything, she would make us something else, and she checked up with us to see how everything was. The food is amazing and very well priced. Just, be sure to bring cash. My favorite dish is the tamales, but so far by boyfriend and I haven't found anything on their menu that was anything less than spectacular. They are open pretty much ALL THE TIME; we even went on Easter. To clarify, I do not mean that they are 24 hours. Me and my boyfriend came here after the beach on Saturday May 9th, the next day I was in the bathroom in pain throwing everything up coming to the conclusion I had food poisoning, not long after my boyfriend also was having the same symptoms as me( nausea, headache, stomach pain and other things that are too gross share) we both ordered two different meats and tortillas and they usually come with the salsa Verde. Was in the area and saw all the glowing reviews so we decided to stop by on a recent Sunday afternoon. We had tacos with three different kinds of meat and burritos with carnitas and barbacoa. The Barbacoa was fatty but good, the carnitas and chicken were average. With so many Mexican places in the area I can't believe that this is the only one that gets 5 stars. Also they serve everything in styrofoam. You order a burrito you get a styrofoam clamshell to-go box. They bring you water in styrofoam cups, they bring you salsa in a styrofoam bowl. Styrofoam never degrades it would be great if they stop using it. read more
