It was incredible. It was absolutely loaded with steak, chicken, shrimp, fish, cactus, cheese. We were blown away. I got flour tortillas on the side and doused it with their orange salsa. 10/10. They have a self serve salsa bar which also had cut fruit! Definitely won me over with fruit as a dessert. lol. This place has a really cute setup and definitely gives great vibes for photos and hanging out. The outdoor area was welcoming, fun, and very Instagram-worthy. The male cashier was also super kind, informative, and had great customer service. The biggest disappointment was driving all the way here after seeing TikToks and Instagram posts about their Micheladas and margaritas, only to find out they don't actually serve liquor. That felt a little misleading. The food was fresh and hot, a great portion size for the price, but overall lacked seasoning and flavor!! My Al Pastor tacos had a nice char and tasted freshly made, but they needed more flavor even salt. My husband's ramen was decent, but pretty mid and tasted more like basic ramen with birria meat added in. I did like the self-serve salsa and chip area, but since we came closer to closing (2hrs before) the chips tasted stale. I'd recommend going earlier for the freshest experience! Also, a bonus for being super dog-friendly with kind and quick service. Companion and I both got our own dishes. You order and pay at the counter, and they bring it out to you. I had the Taco Plate with carnitas and al pastor as my protein. He got the Two-Item Combination plate with a chicken tamale and a birria enchilada. My tacos were good, the meat was flavorful and nicely cooked, and the tortillas were yum and didn't break. The rice and beans were just fine; I got mine without cheese. He enjoyed his combo plate, and the bite of his tamale was good. I also got a horchata which was okay, a bit grainy. For the price, portions were comparable! Order at the counter and pick a seat. We sat in the backyard area with the heaters. Self serve chips and salsa 10/10! The green salsa was probably the best one. Our food came out perfect and hot! Double miche was delicious and hit the spot. My mom got the milanesa torta, my sister got the super carne asada quesadilla, my boyfriend had the quesabirria tacos and I had the camarones a la diabla. We had never had "huarache" before. Went with "carnitas". Tender, juicy, and flavorful. 3 different sauces lined up. We also got a "Chile con queso" tamale. It wasn't a tamalito; it was a tamalon! I would guess the other raters have no idea about good Mexican food or moderately good service. They are across the street from Chipotle and that would have been a better choice, we got tacos, a carnitas burrito and a Chile relleno with a side of guacamole. Everything was pretty bad and the wine that was ordered never showed up to the table. The guac was a puree and the food was surprisingly tasteless for something that took over 25 minutes to prepare. The beef in the burrito had pieces of gristle the size of my little finger which, if it had had any flavor whatsoever wouldn't have been and issue. The woman that took our order looked like we were the last people on Earth she wanted to see and would have preferred being somewhere else. He offered us free chips and salsa and fruit . The variety of salsa was obviously homemade and spicy to my liking. The rice and beans had an authentic Mexican taste. They are offering a 2 for 1 on breakfast burritos from 9-11am so I had to check them out. This deal applies to either a bacon, jamon, or chorizo burrito. I got the chorizo and bacon. Total was $13.78 with access to a sauce bar with other sides like picked jalapeños and carrots. There are also tortilla chips available so I'd say it's worth the deal. I would say the chorizo was better than the bacon, but the bacon had some good chunks of meat in there. It was tightly rolled, decent size, and with the other sides and sauces, it was fantastic. The green sauce is mild, the orange sauce has a little kick and the red sauce is the hottest which I did not try, but since the orange sauce wasn't too spicy, I might try it next time. Service is super friendly and answered all my questions regarding the sauces. The restaurant is clean and very neat. It has cool decorations on the walls. There are about 12-15ish seats inside. This place offers a Taco Tuesday which I plan on trying, but overall, I would go back again just to try other menu items with all the sauces. Go check them out! read more

Really great food and decent prices. I loved their GIANT huarache with carne asada. It was piled high with good stuff: different types of salsa, crema, cilantro and onion, and LOTS OF ASADA. It was so huge that between myself and my spouse, it was enough to make us food-coma-waddle back to our car. We've also had a great experience bringing our friends there on a random Saturday afternoon for lunch. The servers are super friendly and helpful and keep the place looking clean and ready for customers, and the food was fresh and delicious! We needed a place for our kids first birthday celebration, so we decided to book Sol's patio. Best decision ever! The manager/owner was super communicative via email and helped set things up and catered to our needs the best they could. There was some miscommunication about the menu and what can be served, but that was easily cleared up and things worked out great. On the day of the event, the staff organized the food and drinks fabulously and kept on top of refilling the water and chips/salsas. Our family and friends raved about how good the food was and how nice it was to be outside. Parking was also easy around there, which is a plus for a Saturday. I really appreciate Sol Taqueria! I'll be heading back there soon for a meal and keep them in mind for future fun events! read more

It was a shame since I speak Spanish and if she'd let me know she didn't understand I could've switched to Spanish instead. unfortunately the food and drinks did not make up for the inconvenience. My margarita was late and watered down because the ice was melted and didn't Have salt on the rim. The tacos were flavorless. Ambience is really nice. New owners of this old restaurant have put a lot of money and effort into whole building. Added a large sunny covered patio at rear of restaurant. Staff were very kind and helpful. I had Campechana, a large seafood cocktail with lots of of shrimp, octopus, fresh avocado and cucumber. Really enjoyed it. My wife had a fish taco and a birria (roasted beef) taco. Fish taco was mostly lettuce and the beef was very dry ( large hunks, not shredded). I hope whoever prepares the meat can learn how to do it. Maybe they should visit Talavera, a mile away and try some of their meat dishes. We will go back and try some other plates. read more

I don't usually rate restaurants this low but I truly have nothing good to say about my experience. It took 45 minutes to get my food and there weren't even that many people when I went. I snacked on chips while I waited. They were stale, the pico de gallo tasted like spaghetti sauce, habanero salsa tasted like nothing at all and green sauce was so runny it couldn't stay on the chip. I got the huaraches dish. The ingredients were unseasoned. Look at the other reviews - a lot of them say the same. It wasn't very much food for the extremely high price. As a die hard San Diego Mexican food elitist, this is by far some of the best bay area Mexican food I have had in the past 20 years. It's so low key and mellow and unassuming, but the food is amazing. Salsa is fresh and delicious. Chips are crisp and modelos are cold. They have an amazing patio out back that gets a good combo of sun/shade and allows dogs! It's rare to find gems like this so I hope that they can be around for a while. read more
