Honestly this is my go to pizza from now on. I don't even live in Marietta and I'm going to travel the 17 miles just to get pizza from here. Reasons for this: 1.) reasonably priced: the plain cheese in 14" is 17 bucks and worth every penny. I can see why Dave Portnoy gave it a high rating. The cheese is good, sauce is amazing, and I love the well done pizza dough which was amazing. 2.) the specialty slices: I got the chicken bacon ranch slice, thought it would be only ok cause never really have high expectations for pizza by the slice. I was so damn wrong. This pizza was elite. Like for $7 I got a deal. This slice was huge, the chicken was stacked twice as thick as the dough, the bacon and ranch were amazing, and 1 slice was more than enough for a meal for me. 3.) service is on another level: I ordered the Portnoy cheese pizza 8.1 and because it wasn't "well done enough" according to them they gave me the original pizza and then remade it to the correct well doneness. I didn't ask for it they just did it, I wouldn't have known the difference in the doneness at all and would have been just as happy with my pizza. Like this is above and beyond anything any other pizza joint has ever done. They support their end product enough to tell you they messed up with out you telling them and making it right just because. A++ service. 4.) ambiance: this place has pinball machines on one side and old gaming cabinets on the other side. I love it, very nostalgic of old pizza places from my neighborhood growing up and love to see it here in my new home. Needless to say, you need to come and get a pizza or a slice from here. This is a cool little spot on Cobb Pkwy, especially if you're looking for something different from the standard places you usually go for GF pizza. They have two self-ordering kiosks at the counter, which is really convenient. When I arrived, there was no line and only one person using one of the kiosks, so ordering was quick and easy. We definitely arrived before the crowd because by the time we got our pizzas, the place had started to fill up. I ordered a GF pizza with pepperoni and hot honey, a regular pepperoni slice for my husband, and a bottled water. They also offer fountain drinks. The prices are decent. The restaurant is basically a mini arcade, with classic arcade games and even a change machine, which gives it a fun, casual vibe. The staff seemed to be moving efficiently, pushing out pizzas for both to-go orders and dine-in customers. We grabbed a table and waited about 5-7 minutes before the pizzas came out hot and bubbly. There was an issue with my husband's pizza, but they immediately made him a new one, which I appreciated. They didn't just hand it to him--they actually made it right. My pizza was good--really hot, with delicious cheese and pepperoni. I especially love a good pepperoni cup because those crispy edges are everything! I like hot honey, but honestly, I could have done without it on this pizza. The GF crust was also good--not the best I've had, but definitely good enough that I'd go back. I'll say this place still lives up to the hype 1.5 years after opening! My coworker and I stopped by here for lunch and was happy to see it gain so much business! We were lucky to grab a table after ordering from the kiosk. I got an order of garlic knots and a slice of the buffalo chicken pizza. The food came out within 10min. The knots were delicious and topped with some garlic butter and came with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. They also tasted super fresh and were super garlicky which I loved. The pizza slice I'll say was super tasty! I loved how the buffalo sauce wasn't super sour, and it had a good bit of chicken on there. It was a nice toasted slice yet wasn't burnt which was appreciated. Definitely recommend to try it out but there early or order ahead even on a weekday to beat the lunch hour rush! read more

Right off of 41 not far from the Big Chicken Solar Slice in Marietta, GA has quickly established itself as a local favorite in just two years. The restaurant is super casual with video games, pinball machines, and outdoor seating. Bright colors, Ninja Turtles, and Buzz Lightyear give it fun decor. My family ordered a cheese pizza for the kids which they devoured. It had a little hint of garlic butter on the crust. The remaining picks were slices and they were all to die for. The highlight of the visit was definitely the creativity on display, especially with their Galaxy Pizza. You can tell they're trying to push boundaries and offer something unique, which I respect. The presentation and concept were interesting and different from your typical slice. That said, the Galaxy Pizza just wasn't for me. It's one of those things that others might love, but it didn't fully land for me. The crust threw me off. It was too soft, too doughy and didn't pair with the flavors . I have been wanting pizza for a few days. I was near this spot and it had good reviews on Yelp so I decided to give it a try. It was easy to locate and they have ample parking There are a few spots up front and additional parking at the rear of the building. When I walked in there were no patrons and 4 employees that could have said hello or welcome in- any greeting would have went a long way - I got nothing! I saw two computer screens and figured out I could place my order on the screen. I opted for a spinach and mushroom slice with chicken wings and a bottle of water. Total cost $15. The inside of this place offers a few tables. All of the chairs were placed on top of the tables but there was no indication as to why. They also have several picnic tables out front, I am typically the person that desires to sit outside, but on this day it was windy and I did not want to deal with that. As such when I received my slice of pizza I took a chair off the table and sat down. My wings came out at a later time. The young lady that gave me my wings did tell me that as a result of the construction on the outside guest are unable to dine in at the moment. Again- something that the staff that looked at me walk in could have easily expressed! I did sit outside and finish my pizza. It was very thin and toppings were sparse. I say just go to Costco instead! The wings were wingetts ! They were so tiny. I would not order them again. Overall this spot is a skip for me. Service was terrible. The only friendly staff was the young lady. The food was nothing to think twice about. In today's economy I can find better ways to spend my cash. I've been wanting to try Solar Slice for awhile and I'm glad I finally did. We went for lunch on a weekday and it was fairly busy. There's plenty of parking and a decent amount of seating. You order at a computer, which was fairly easy and straightforward. It's very relaxed and unpretentious inside. There are pinball machines and 90s posters. I don't fully understand how they choose the prices as a slice of cheese is significantly cheaper than a fancier slice. The slices are large, thin NY-style. The cheese slice was fine, nothing special, but good. My friend has an allergy so she had to order a whole pie. She got the white pizza which she shared and was really yummy! She didn't want a whole pie at first but enjoyed the leftovers. The slight issue was that the three of us ordered at the same time but there were significant chunks of time between each of getting our food. We only saw one employee making pizzas which could've been the cause, but it's just strange that we couldn't really eat together. read more

I had seen this place on social media and my husband and I decided to go for a drive and check it out. There is a really cool mural on the side of the building and some parking right in front. They have indoor and outdoor seating along with plenty of pinball machines. You order on a self kiosk and you get your receipt sent over to your phone. They have a variety of seating at high stools and some lower stools too. Wait time wasn't too long. My husband ordered 2 well done pizza slices and I got one slice of cheese. They brought it to us in a nice box. The pizza looked delicious, but my slice wasn't exactly what I was hoping it would taste like. The sauce was very salty and was lacking some sort of sweetness, along with that my pizza ended up coming out well done despite me not asking for that. My husband really likes his slices but agreed it's missing some sweetness to the sauce. Nostalgic pizzeria off busy Cobb Parkway & 120. I loved the tributes to the 80s & 90s with posters, toys, arcade games (they work) and movies. It's spacious with bar top seating to watch the kitchen at work or sit at the many tables or outdoor picnic style tables. Service was self-serve at a kiosk so pretty simple. Nobody greeted us or asked if we had questions. It appeared that the cook and two patrons were speaking Spanish so we were basically ignored. Our pizza came up fast but there was really no one else there that had ordered - they were already eating. The slices were decent. Nothing I'd rush back for. Ninja. Turtles. Arcade. This little spot off of Hwy 41, Solar Slice Pizza, is pretty fantastic. This was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade themed pizza bar with some nostalgic rock music. This pizza... is... wow!!! This is the best New York Style pizza I've ever had! To gage how good Solar Slice really is, I got a classic Large Cheese Pizza. It's a huge pizza with a thin crispy crust- sauced perfectly- and seasoned- finished with that rich cheese and a beautiful cheese pull. The famous Dave Portnoy would recognize it for having "no flop" an a "beautiful undercarriage" :) I additionally got a slice of meat lovers so that I could see how they do specialties. While my large pizza was ready in 10 minutes, the single slice wasn't ready until 25 minutes after that! I noticed when they put my slice in, it was accompanied by 7 other single slices. I wonder if they have to wait to put in single slices until they have 8 singles (to finish a full pizza). Since they do single slices, that meant all the toppings went on top of the cheese, so it was hard to keep all the toppings on my pizza, but it was pretty delicious. It was packed generously with so much meat... yum! I personally prefer the classic cheese or pepperoni for this kind of style of pizza. The arcade noises, loud music, and long lines in a small restaurant are worth noting as a big part of your experience. If you don't plan in ahead (like us), you enter in, go place your own order on the iPad stations, and potentially wait up to 35 minutes just for a single slice. While I was waiting and watching, I noticed that they do have an app and a website where you can order in advance and walk in and out real fast... I would definitely recommend ordering in advance. This is a really good place to grab pizza on the West Side/Cobb area if you're in the area. They have great dough that isn't covered in grease or butter. The toppings are fresh and options are limitless. Value wise is on top compared to most. They have a really fun Social media presence so you can see what they do. For my selection, i ordered ahead of time and picked up, but the counter service was quick. Looking around, you have a lot of Pinball machines which if you're into Pinball, this place has some good machines in place. I ended up getting a White Pizza and Pepperoni and Mushroom split. So while in town visiting some family, I tried Solar Slice. Here is my honest take..... the pizza is good. It is thin crust, slightly sweet sauce, generous toppings... if you are j to that kind of thing... the crust holds up too. Not flimsy... really good. If you are in town, you should give them a shot. Now for the reasoning behind the rating... it's Sunday at 1:45pm... the place is slammed. Business is good. Then you realize the reason it is slammed is because it takes 45 minutes or more from the time you place your order till you get your pie. No body is bussing tables. Napkins are empty. Bathrooms need attention. A crowd of customers are hovering as they wait in their pie. The food is great, the customer experience needs some work. I really wanted to be able to give 3.5 stars. Rolled through 11pm on a Monday and this place was great. Nice vibes all around (friendly staff, good music, and arcade games if you're trying to play). My pizza order tonight was two slices of pepperoni. The slices are huge here but they are thin and well constructed. I didn't get any flop, the crust was well baked, and the tomato sauce was bright and flavorful. I definitely think that this place has lasting power and when I come to Marietta campus this place is where I wanna grab a quick lunch or late night dinner. Well done guys! read more

I went in October and they were doing a halloween special. It was cool, because our pizza had like black ink in it somehow! It looked so cool and it tasted great. We came in as a 12 person group. The parking was adequate. Inside, small, quaint. Noisy! Between the music, pinball machines and typical restaurant banter it was a relief to sit outside! Between our group and the normal amount of Sunday lunch traffic there was a line out the door. What exacerbated the situation was only one kiosk for ordering worked! Plus only 2 people beside the "Chef" were behind the counter. Most of us wound up ordering using our phones! The pizza, after about a 30-40 minute wait was good. Not at all excellent. But, good. I have to give this a 3 star because I ordered the portnoy for the notorious "no flop" well done crisp and received the absolute furthest thing from the portnoy. Entirely too much cheese and not enough time in the oven which caused the grande to not sweat as much as it should have and tasted plasticky. Too much sauce with too much seasoning in it. The crust was way too thick for being a portnoy and immediately flopped over. All of that together made it taste like high end bowling alley pizza.... Not what the owner's social media videos portray. I am sad that I didn't get what has been hyped. Whatever the excuse is... too busy, new staff, growing plains, etc... Yes, today. I'm mean a friend of mine. Went to eat at solar slice pizza on Cobb. Parkway, they have really good pizza there and other menu items. We went there for lunch and I had a large UFO half-and-half. I had half white and half supreme. And I have other stuff, besides pizza like salads and calzone and garlic knots and stuff like that. And it's really good place to get off work and go there and have a bike to eat with your family or girlfriend or co-worker and people there really nice.But all in all I had a really good time there read more

I've seen Solar Slice on Yelp when looking for pizza but it's always been a little out of the way, but we decided to go today because my little one wanted pizza and it wasn't too far. Looking at the storefront, it's very unassuming since it looks pretty normal. When you walk in, you're greeted by a row of cool pinball machines and retro arcade games in the back. They have some cool deco like a giant Michaelangelo from TMNT that my boy loved. We ordered a cheese slice, garlic knots, french fries, and a large 50/50 UFO with half hot honey pepperoni and half meat lovers. The service e is top notch here!! They saw my boy and offered to cut the cheese slice into kid cuts (which you can see in one of the pics I took). The fries were also really good and not the cheapest frozen ones a lot of places offer. The garlic knots were new per the signs around the restaurant. They seemed a bit pricey but they were also good. The garlic spread they used on it was very premium tasting and they did not skimp. The outsides were nice and toasty and the insides were nice and soft. They were really hot and fresh out of the oven when we got them, so I recommend giving them a minute to cool off a bit. The 50/50 UFO seemed much bigger than what some other pizza places consider a large. I'd say it was as big other even a little bigger than Papa Johns XL. The hit honey pep side was really messy when we got it since it was piping hot, but it was really tasty. The meat lovers side was also just as delicious but not as messy since there wasn't hot honey all over it. Both sides were very VERY good and they did not skimp at all on the toppings. After dinner my son and I decided to play some games. The retro arcade were a quarter each and the pinball games were $0.50-$1.00. The xmen pinball game was really good and my kid enjoyed "playing" it. I'd definitely come back and I highly recommend stopping by for a slice if you're in the area! The hype is real, the flavor for me wasn't. People should always remember that flavor of pizza and food is subjective to each individual person. so in one person says something is a 8.1 or 7.9 that's not for everybody involved that's for that person. The staff is enough, it's definitely a pizza establishment staff almost a kin to a Panini's style staff with maybe a little bit less personality. But you also have to take it into account how busy this place is and how probably not prepared they were for the influx. The garlic nuts I ordered came out hot and fresh however, it's not a normal pizza garlic knot with the butter and garlic. There's a white garlic sauce that goes on top that just wasn't what I expecting. The pizza came out which no slices available and again understandable. It came out hot and fresh and was crispy and so forth but the sauce I can't put my finger on it has a very strong either oregano or basil or some type of Italian seasoning that takes away from the tomato flavor and the crust is more cracker less pizza. I happen to be in the area so I didn't make a terribly long drive and it was good enough. I'm sure some people will love it and say it's the best pizza in Georgia and some people will say it's good pizza and some people will not like it. That's typically how food goes. read more
