I had a generally good experience with Peterson Dean Roofing and Solar (PDRS). They provided Solar and roofing for our single story ranch home. I wanted a single company to provide solar and roofing to simplify any warranty work. I received quotes from other companies that did both and by other companies that did individual components. PDRS happen to be the best price for both roofing and solar. Jason McCormick was our sales coordinator and worked with us to install 20 Solar World 285 Watt panels with Enphase microinverters. He was patient and worked with us though the completion of the project. Robert Yoo was our solar coordinator and provided the technical information as part of the project. Both were great to work with. Below is a rough timeline of the project/process. * September 2016 - Initial Contact and Quote * October 2016 - Solar Site Survey * December 2016 - Roofing was installed * Late January 2017 - Solar was installed You can view our system at: https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/pv/public_systems/6KLp1155225/ My only disappointment was that the installation of the Solar component took longer than anticipated and installation was completed early 2017. I was not able to take the Tax Credit in 2016. I am hopeful (assuming the current administration does not change the tax code) I still can. To be fair, I heard there was a huge demand due to the new administration that potentially caused the delay. The stronger rainy season did not help either. There was also some minor hiccups, but just enough to not give five stars. Overall, I am satisfied with Peterson Dean Roofing and Solar and have recommended them to others.

Where to start ... We bought a new construction home last year and PD installed our tile roof. After inspecting my roof I found many troubled areas Solar 4 America would not respond to my phone calls. After putting a bad review on yelp with pictures they sent a project manager out. First he tried to tell me that that the problems were normal until I told him I haVe experience in roofing. He spent about 3/4 of a day fixing the problems and said he would inspect the 2nd story for me sincce I didn't have a ladder. So I deleted my bad review since my problem was gone. Well we just had solar installed and when the 2nd story ladder came out I was finally able to inspect my 2nd story. During inspection I found 1, the sealant that seals the ridge and hop tiles had huge cracks where it was allowing water to leak. 2, one tile cut short that was allowing water to leak in 3, they smashed my valley metal where the gutter drains. This would stop water from over fLowing to my deck. 4, no flashing under all my hip tiles a very important section as it will cause water major problems with leaks and rot in a few years. They sent another tech out to fix the problems he fixed the Valley, sealant and the short tile. He told me he would send another team out since they didn't install flashing. He was actually shocked the installers never installed it. He said it would probably take 2 guys 7-8 hours. This has been two weeks with a few rains and I haven't received any calls. I called them back Thursday 30th and also left them a message on yelp. The lady in the office told me she would call me back the same day. Well it's Saturday and I haven't heard a word. I've already reached out to our builder so hopefully they can put pressure on Solar 4 America to get my roof installed correctly. If they did this to our new build I wonder how many other roofs in our community is bad. Look at their other yelp page to see my revimore pictures of their work If we could give negative stars they would surely get them

    Conduit work on roof

Stay away from this company. Customer service is terrible unless you complain even. Workmanship is shoddy and won't pass inspection, see attached photo. After researching and talking to different solar companies and with a glowing recommendation from a friend, I decided to go with PetersenDean a.k.a Solar 4 America. In May of 2019, I signed a contract with them with an estimated finish late Oct. I was promised in writing "A world-class experience..." and "Top notch system installation...". After countless emails since September asking for an install date, with the only response being "I'll send an email.", I finally get an install date of Nov 26th. Nov 26th rolls around and they come for the install and tell me they are only installing the panels and nothing else. I get no information back about when they are going to come and finish the job. So I contact them and get an install date of Dec 3rd. Dec 3rd comes and no one shows up, not even a phone call saying "Hey sorry, our crew can't make it out today." Nothing.. So, I send them an email and then they tell me their next availability is Jan 6th. So I tell them that I am going to have to re-file with my HOA as that will be 90 days since I filed for approval. After I raise a stink, they tell me that they can get their crew out on Dec 12. Later in the day, they call me back asking if there is any equipment here and I tell them only the solar panels. The crew arrives on the 12th and asks me where all the equipment is after I specifically told them that only the solar panels are here. The crew chief then calls the warehouse manager to try and get the equipment. The warehouse manager informs him that that there is no equipment in the warehouse for my house. So, after the crew leaves, I send another email asking what the serial numbers are for my equipment and I promptly get an email back with serial numbers. Long story short, they came out three more times, Dec 14th, 17th and 18th. On the 17th, the crew stayed until 9:30 at night stating that he wanted to make sure that no matter what our solar was turned on. Which, I appreciated. On the 18th, there was another crew chief and he told me that the first crew chief should have never turned on the solar panels until after inspection. He also let me know that if everything was set up correctly; which it wasn't, we would have been charged for the power our solar panels produced. Apparently, our PG&E meter is a one-way meter and they(PG&E) need to come and install a two-way meter. The workmanship for the conduit on my house looks very amateur and I can't close my outside electrical panel. The workers told me that they were untrained in many aspects of the installation. Which didn't instill a lot of confidence. As of Jan 4th, I still don't have solar installed. I have given PetersenDean ample time to rectify the situation along with many complaint-filled emails, I am fed up. There is nothing world class about this experience and very little top-notch about the installation.

Petersen Dean gets the highest marks from me for the recent re-roof of our 50 year old home. Even though we are in a drought it managed to rain enough for us to discover a leak in our garage. After calling around we scheduled two estimate appointments. Let's focus on Petersen Dean: *****Tony Y - Sales: Tony arrived a few minutes early for our appointment well prepared with an estimate in hand based on our homes specific details. There were three different roofing materials to be selected from and all materials necessary for the job were included. The only changes to the estimate would occur if additional roofing materials were needed due to unseen damage - read 'dry rot'. Based on Tony's knowledge and sales presentation skills we knew before he left that PD would get the contract. Tony also let us know of the available financing options. *****Stacy H - Re-Roof Administrator: Stacy was in communication with us throughout the entire process including watching the weather closely to make sure they could get the job scheduled and completed in between storms. *****PD Roofing Crew - I can't say enough about these guys. They were up on our roof about 4 hours after it stopped raining on Wednesday and were completely done with the re-roof with about six hours to spare before the next raindrops began falling on Thursday evening. Once the roofing was complete a clean-up crew came along and took away all the garbage. They did an excellent job on the clean-up. I think we found two nails but we had to really look for them. *****Chris M - Site Supervisor (?): It was great having Chris on-site during this process as he was able to ensure that everything went smoothly, on time, and as planned while keeping us up to date. Chris was professional and personable which carried throughout the entire process and including resolving the one issue that came up. Speaking of the issue. Our HVAC unit is on the roof. The unit was 'moved or lifted' to allow the shingle R&I, which shorted out the system completely once the unit was shifted. We had the unit repaired and submitted a request to PD for a reimbursement of the repair fees. We do not think any one particular person on this crew should be personally held accountable for the HVAC issue. I don't know if shutting off the main power would have prevented this from happening. We know it was not shut off as I was home working. Well I was trying anyway. I'm sure they thought we were crazy for being home during all that noise. Something for consideration on future jobs with an HVAC unit on the roof. We worked with Chris on a satisfactory resolution and have a beautiful new roof, an HVAC that works, and the reimbursement in hand. Petersen Dean has a very satisfied customer who will always refer business their way in the future. If I find another 12K I'll be calling them for solar! Cheers, to many years of staying dry even in a storm!

We have had an Enphase solar installation for 10 years now, which has always worked beautifully…read more However, due to regular PG&E outages in our area (Fremont, CA), we decided to add a backup battery to the system. After careful research, we chose Highlight Solar (HS) to handle this installation. We chose the Franklin battery, and Highlight Solar came out to handle the installation in Nov 2025. Sadly, we had some serious issues with the functionality of our solar infrastructure, after the Franklin equipment was installed... the Enphase solar monitoring device (called Envoy) started having trouble communicating with the panels, and therefore would disable them. HS made a couple of different attempts to fix this issue (which was delayed when they went on vacation for a month), so I had to keep cycling the breaker for the panels every morning to get the system working for another day. Fortunately, they were persistent in pursuing the issue, and after returning from vacation in late January, Samir came out and spent a couple of hours on the phone with Enphase support, who suggested a possible solution for this issue. HS then had someone come out to implement Enphase's suggestion, and now my system is working solidly and reliably (Feb 2026). I'm glad HS didn't just give up on us; I'm sure they were just as frustrated as we were by this situation. We certainly didn't expect this to take three months to resolve, but it is working now.

We asked a LOT of questions, then we asked more, and then some more. Ali, our salesman, remained patient and communicated thoroughly via email or phone, and at all hours even after we had signed the paperwork. The installation process was honestly better than the sales process. The combination of Chris (the foreman who found a solution for all our requests) and his team which worked in awful weather to get our project installed on schedule were amazing. Our inspection, and final handoff were handled by Samir, who answered even more questions, and made sure we were fully set up. From end to end we had a great experience with Highlight Solar and will recommend them as they were to us. Pro tips: If you get a battery you will need to store it until it is installed. Your solar data might not show up on the app for 24-48 hours after installation...don't panic, it will show up eventually and you will see the money you are not spending with PG&E.

The many moving parts to our residential solar plus battery system, including the various entities, such as PG&E, Tesla, City inspectors, and the financial backers we opted to use all progressed seamlessly and, for us effortlessly, thanks to hard working individuals behind the scenes. In particular, Skyler could not have been more helpful, managing our project and acting as a point of contact. Others included David in sales who demystified the process, Varon who coordinated with the utility to ensure we met all requirements, and Gino, who collaborated with Maxwell Power (formerly HDM Renewable Finance), the clean-energy company that helped finance our residential system. On site, the design and install team did a great job keeping things simple. The entire system, including battery and thirteen panels, was installed according to Ramiros's expert design within just four hours. Good quality hardware was used to tie to the roof, which was inspected by our roofer and given a big thumbs up for not causing problems. But even before that, David our site survey tech, gave us the sense that all would proceed well, as he collected necessary data by drone, and made a favorable first impression with his personable approach. Toward the end of the multi-month process, which included time to get a new roof installed, we passed city inspection with YES tech, Dario, an extremely courteous young man, present to ensure we made it through that last step and PTO (permission to operate). YES has an excellent and well-deserved reputation because of these people and others who worked on our behalf. The company can do better automating some of the process, and to be fair, they say they are working on transitioning to a CRM software solution for this purpose. But, I can say that over a period of several months, I had excellent communication with many helpful people. Skyler in customer service was my primary contact and that made all the difference. My thanks to YES for helping us make this wonderful and complex project a reality. We love our new YES-backed system and look forward to working with the company again in the future.

I can't say enough good things about Carlos Gomez from Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions…read more I've been working on a non-standard solar setup using an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra X and EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, and finding a contractor who truly understood this type of system was incredibly difficult. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. If you're in the Bay Area and need electrical or solar work done the right way, especially for a non-standard or custom system, I highly recommend Carlos and the team at Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions.

Juan and his team are true solar experts and know exactly what they are doing - they were great at walking me through key details I should know about the system, how to best take advantage of having a solar system, and did their best to get me scheduled (in spite of multiple difficulties) for installation before the end of the year. Just for context, I've talked to another solar company where clearly they were just about trying to close the deal and sell sell sell, which really turned me off - it felt like they just wanted our money as opposed to wanting to understand what we really needed. Juan's team really shined here by just showing up to be real experts who are thoughtful about what system you need, as opposed to trying to close a deal. Juan and his team were also really patient and flexible. Our new home's solar system had to be turned on before we could start any work, and that process took months due to Sunnova going bankrupt. And, they were also really thoughtful when we mentioned we had added in some upgrades that would affect electricity use (ie saunas and outdoor electric heaters), and they reassessed their initial project and updated it to accommodate that. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and am really grateful that we got our project done so well!!

I got top of the line REC 430W panels and a Powerwall 3. Their process from design to installation was always professional and prompt. The only slow parts were waiting on PG&E to inspect, etc. Pricing was fair, though hardly inexpensive. Thus it's great when you have a rewarding experience and are very satisfied. The 3 arrived on time and with smiles, just overall a great vibe from them. Luis walked me through the installation plan and gave a few choices taking into consideration aesthetics of the house and then got to work. 4 hours later, clean line, fine craftsmanship and symmetrical matching placement from last system is in place and ready to tangle with PG&E (attaching some photos) I really really can't recommend any higher to go with Clean Solar on your solar projects. Seamless is what you'll experience with them. Until next time Clean Solar!

Btw I was going to bump this review to a 4 but working with Nick we decided on 5.** We had a complicated full house renovation this year and signed with Clean Solar for either the Tesla tiles or solar panels and we ended up choosing solar panels + Tesla power walls. I want to give special thanks (and the only reason why I didn't give a 0 star) and appreciation to the members listed as they deserved beyond 5 stars Bill, Nick, Jeremy, Rodger, Louis, Kevin, Albert, Alberto, Carl (CEO). Bill was amazing and helpful in explaining the process and helping us secure the initial funding. You are probably wondering why I am giving this solar company a 3 star. Well it takes 1 bad apple to ruin a team and this is the case. A three day project ended up taking 3+ weeks & we understand that the workload is extremely busy this time of year. However when 1 person is acting unprofessional, crossing the line, asking homeowners to borrow a usb cable to charge their cell phone, super loud, tries to impress (why), doesn't listen to clients (would walk away in mid conversation), act as if he is the owner of the company, talks way too much (not in a good way), talking about his side hustle business, a bit juvenile, not completing and complaining about the job in front of clients plus not showing up when he said he would to complete the job, leaving tools at the site and asking the homeowners to put it in their garage until he returns to pick it up, calls in sick last minute leaving the load to other team members plus more well then this becomes a problem and 0 stars (if possible) especially the amount of money you invest into this project. We also requested that this person not show up again but they kept sending him back. At the end of the project half of the Tesla walls were connected and working but the other half wasn't connecting. At one point our bedrooms electricity didn't work, it wasn't the breakers and Nick was awesome enough to take our after hours call and help us manually override those other 2 disconnected wall panels. The dream team (Nick, Kevin and Albert) resolved the connection and all is working now. Also, Nick stayed late to make sure our Tesla walls were configured and updated properly. Plus , a shout out to Jeremy for staying late as well to help fix a broken issue. Feedback: Organize a team that works well together to effectively complete the project. Provide sexual harassment training (this is excluding people listed here). If a female client doesn't feel comfortable with a person don't resend them back. Also if a homeowner (regardless of being the wife) calls and leaves a message please out of courtesy call back after all I am the client, work and pay the bills too (even though this is my husband's project).

Definitely recommending others! more than 5* for this…read more How I got them: Power wasn't getting through my solar battery gateway and I called my solar company who sent me an invoice of huge amount. Then I just google searched & found this company with 5* rating and thought of giving it a try. What happened: When I called 'Pacific Edge Electric & Solar' it went into voice mail, but within 2 minutes I got a text message - " we will be calling you in 10 minutes". I was so surprised by their fast response as I tried connected with other companies as well and never got response from them. Adem from Pacific Edge called me in few minutes and he asked me what's the issue. I explained him & he assured me that he will stop by within few hours. Then a representative called me and took the details from me. It was very fast moving service & response from their end. Their services: Adem texted me the time frame when he will be coming. He came & inspect everything max within 15 minutes and found the issue. Fixed it. & he explained me the issue - why it happened & how it needs to be fixed. Also he charged a nominal fee. I was extremely happy with his prompt service starting from responding me. He considered it as priority work & made it done.

I have called multiple times and sent several emails, but nobody responds or provides any help. Customer service has been extremely frustrating, and a simple ownership transfer should not take this long. New homeowners should not have to spend months chasing a company just to update account information. Based on my experience, I would not recommend SolarEdge. If customer support is important to you, think carefully before choosing this company. This has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.

I'll first say we ordered the solar system one year ago before a certain someone became... more…read morepolitically active. It was great to be able to place the order and complete documents, etc through the Tesla app. It was very convenient to view all the designs, documents, etc right in the app. We ordered the solar system and two Powerwall 3 units. The site assessment, design, and installation went smoothly. The installation took the entire day; the power was only off for maybe 1 1/2 hours. I was immediately able to turn on the system and start producing power and charging the powerwalls but just not export any solar back to the grid. After the installation, a long period of time passed with no news and no inspections scheduled. I thought they'd forgotten about us! Finally the project advisor called and said the county had suddenly changed their requirements, and the powerwalls would have to be moved from the side of the house to the back of the house. Additional weeks passed while Tesla and the county worked out what location would be acceptable. Finally it was confirmed that the back of the house was allowed. It took about a half day to relocate the powerwalls. The power didn't have to be shut off this time. Then over the following weeks there were three separate county inspections. Tesla handled this, and I didn't have to be home as long as they could access the garage. Finally, after passing all three inspections, there was the final utility inspection and installation of the new meter. At last one year later we were able to connect to the grid and sell excess power. It took a long time, but I'm happy with the system. The app is very slick with lots of options and functions, and I love how Tesla monitors the weather with the storm watch feature. I also love how you can enter your utility rate and configure the system to keep you off the grid during peak rate hours. I only wish a certain someone had not gone so off the rails lately...
