I needed to replace a big fence. They contacted the neighbors and did all the work beautifully. It wasn't cheap, but the quality was well worth the cost. My only suggestion....Make sure you get a true measurement before you get a quote. They can give you an estimate via Google Maps, but the real quote may be more or less. My children take lessons at this rink. The children's level classes are wonderful. The coaches are helpful, kind, and overall great with the kids. If you aren't sure what level your child of lessons fit them, they are really helpful at finding the right one. Even after the lessons begin they will move them to the correct one. PetersenDean installed a $34,000 solar panel system on my home that NEVER worked. It wasnt until i received a $4,000 PGE true-up bill and contacted them that i discovered that the solar equipment produced ZERO energy. I contacted PetersenDean and asked that they reimburse me for the energy that they claimed the system should have been producing during that time. They requested the PGE bill, which I gave them, and they subsequently denied responsibility. There was not an open gap with my old roof, and I never had rodents in the attic before. The customer service at first was nice and easy to deal with but after they received our money it became a waiting game and a lot of no returned messages. One of the main reasons we went with this company was because the sales guy assured us that it would be done in 3 months and that they don't use a third party company and that they will do all the work in house, that was a lie! After the 5th months and many emails back and forth we decided that we could not do business with a company that takes our money and doesn't deliver what they were offering us. Long story short we have been waiting close to 3 months for them to return our $13,000 back to us and frankly I am feeling angry and tired of the waiting game! When they asked us to pay the first half we did it right away and they cashed the check the next day. Just makes me think that they are just using our money to fund projects that they already have because we sure don't have anything to show for in our home. I have a Petersen Dean Solar System that came with the new build I had (not that I had a choice in it) which was approximately $15K that was added to the cost of the home. You can tell this company is just trying to push these systems through with no thoughtfulness to how they are installed. These geniuses cut vent pipes rather than positioning around them just to get their system in. Now I have to deal with pigeons who decided to turn my roof into a nest underneath the panels As far as post install support? forget about it, the only time I got any contact with the company was when the original guy came out here because the original installer forgot to turn on the system (crap didn't realize I wasn't using solar for a month). Fast forward 4 months later, the solar panels are caked in dust which decreases efficiency and these jokers don't even offer cleaning service. They just get dumbfounded that the question even gets brought up: Petersen Dean: We don't offer any support on the system other than to make sure the components are working properly from the original install. However, you can hire someone that can do it, oh btw we aren't responsible for any damages to go to your roof or solar panel system. Me: Do you have someone you certify and can recommend? I had a generally good experience with Peterson Dean Roofing and Solar (PDRS). They provided Solar and roofing for our single story ranch home. I wanted a single company to provide solar and roofing to simplify any warranty work. I received quotes from other companies that did both and by other companies that did individual components. PDRS happen to be the best price for both roofing and solar. Jason McCormick was our sales coordinator and worked with us to install 20 Solar World 285 Watt panels with Enphase microinverters. He was patient and worked with us though the completion of the project. Robert Yoo was our solar coordinator and provided the technical information as part of the project. Both were great to work with. Below is a rough timeline of the project/process. * September 2016 - Initial Contact and Quote * October 2016 - Solar Site Survey * December 2016 - Roofing was installed * Late January 2017 - Solar was installed You can view our system at: https://enlighten.enphaseenergy.com/pv/public_systems/6KLp1155225/ My only disappointment was that the installation of the Solar component took longer than anticipated and installation was completed early 2017. At the very moment I hit send on our Better Business Bureau complaint, (after my direct email to the customer service manager had been ignored) our phone rang and it was Petersen Dean. The same customer service rep I initially dealt with hemmed and hawed a tad, but basically said they would be out to replace the shattered panel in January. The techs that came out were very courteous and professional. We requested a copy of the report from installing the new panel, as well as the report from November when they discovered the shattered panel. We never got either. After declining the BBB response, Petersen Dean called and said they would send us what they had. I find this odd, as solar is not an insubstantial purchase. When I take my car in for repairs, I not only get a quote, but their findings and what remediation was done. The same for a computer, a stereo component, HVAC work. I am at a loss as to how a company of this size would send someone out, inform them they had a shattered panel, NOT send any type of written report (the tech in November showed us the photo he took of the panel, yet today they said there are no pictures in their file for us). We're happy that they did take care of this, and we've never had any qualms or issues with the techs that have come out. Communications with the office are another matter. I would really hope this (and the many other Yelp reviews) might serve as a "learning opportunity" and that everything is shared with the customer and improve their responsiveness. read more

Where to start ... We bought a new construction home last year and PD installed our tile roof. After inspecting my roof I found many troubled areas Solar 4 America would not respond to my phone calls. After putting a bad review on yelp with pictures they sent a project manager out. First he tried to tell me that that the problems were normal until I told him I haVe experience in roofing. He spent about 3/4 of a day fixing the problems and said he would inspect the 2nd story for me sincce I didn't have a ladder. So I deleted my bad review since my problem was gone. Well we just had solar installed and when the 2nd story ladder came out I was finally able to inspect my 2nd story. During inspection I found 1, the sealant that seals the ridge and hop tiles had huge cracks where it was allowing water to leak. 2, one tile cut short that was allowing water to leak in 3, they smashed my valley metal where the gutter drains. This would stop water from over fLowing to my deck. 4, no flashing under all my hip tiles a very important section as it will cause water major problems with leaks and rot in a few years. They sent another tech out to fix the problems he fixed the Valley, sealant and the short tile. He told me he would send another team out since they didn't install flashing. He was actually shocked the installers never installed it. He said it would probably take 2 guys 7-8 hours. This has been two weeks with a few rains and I haven't received any calls. I called them back Thursday 30th and also left them a message on yelp. The lady in the office told me she would call me back the same day. Well it's Saturday and I haven't heard a word. I've already reached out to our builder so hopefully they can put pressure on Solar 4 America to get my roof installed correctly. If they did this to our new build I wonder how many other roofs in our community is bad. I called Peterson Dean to have a Solar System installed on my Carmel, CA home. They had advertised a cost as low as $6500 so I asked to have that system installed on my Carmel, CA 2nd home which we visit only 1-2 times a month and which has no AC so limited power needed. The call answerer evaded and danced around the subject failing to answer what came with such a minimum system even though I clearly explained what/why I needed the minimum system. When I asked then how much to add to that minimum system the minimum battery for nite lights to which the response was $28500! Shocking response! NO SALE By the way Jim Peterson himself advertises he has done 1.6 million roofs since Jimmy Carter (45 years)! The math? 1.6M divided by 45 years is a whopping 35,555 per year or abt 100 each day or abt 12 per hour! Is it credible? Not to me it is not -- anymore then his advertising is credible!! read more

Stay away from this company. Customer service is terrible unless you complain even. Workmanship is shoddy and won't pass inspection, see attached photo. After researching and talking to different solar companies and with a glowing recommendation from a friend, I decided to go with PetersenDean a.k.a Solar 4 America. In May of 2019, I signed a contract with them with an estimated finish late Oct. I was promised in writing "A world-class experience..." and "Top notch system installation...". After countless emails since September asking for an install date, with the only response being "I'll send an email.", I finally get an install date of Nov 26th. Nov 26th rolls around and they come for the install and tell me they are only installing the panels and nothing else. I get no information back about when they are going to come and finish the job. So I contact them and get an install date of Dec 3rd. Dec 3rd comes and no one shows up, not even a phone call saying "Hey sorry, our crew can't make it out today." Nothing.. So, I send them an email and then they tell me their next availability is Jan 6th. So I tell them that I am going to have to re-file with my HOA as that will be 90 days since I filed for approval. After I raise a stink, they tell me that they can get their crew out on Dec 12. Later in the day, they call me back asking if there is any equipment here and I tell them only the solar panels. The crew arrives on the 12th and asks me where all the equipment is after I specifically told them that only the solar panels are here. The crew chief then calls the warehouse manager to try and get the equipment. The warehouse manager informs him that that there is no equipment in the warehouse for my house. So, after the crew leaves, I send another email asking what the serial numbers are for my equipment and I promptly get an email back with serial numbers. Long story short, they came out three more times, Dec 14th, 17th and 18th. On the 17th, the crew stayed until 9:30 at night stating that he wanted to make sure that no matter what our solar was turned on. Which, I appreciated. On the 18th, there was another crew chief and he told me that the first crew chief should have never turned on the solar panels until after inspection. He also let me know that if everything was set up correctly; which it wasn't, we would have been charged for the power our solar panels produced. Apparently, our PG&E meter is a one-way meter and they(PG&E) need to come and install a two-way meter. The workmanship for the conduit on my house looks very amateur and I can't close my outside electrical panel. The workers told me that they were untrained in many aspects of the installation. Which didn't instill a lot of confidence. As of Jan 4th, I still don't have solar installed. I have given PetersenDean ample time to rectify the situation along with many complaint-filled emails, I am fed up. Petersen Dean gets the highest marks from me for the recent re-roof of our 50 year old home. Even though we are in a drought it managed to rain enough for us to discover a leak in our garage. After calling around we scheduled two estimate appointments. Let's focus on Petersen Dean: *****Tony Y - Sales: Tony arrived a few minutes early for our appointment well prepared with an estimate in hand based on our homes specific details. There were three different roofing materials to be selected from and all materials necessary for the job were included. The only changes to the estimate would occur if additional roofing materials were needed due to unseen damage - read 'dry rot'. Based on Tony's knowledge and sales presentation skills we knew before he left that PD would get the contract. Tony also let us know of the available financing options. *****Stacy H - Re-Roof Administrator: Stacy was in communication with us throughout the entire process including watching the weather closely to make sure they could get the job scheduled and completed in between storms. *****PD Roofing Crew - I can't say enough about these guys. They were up on our roof about 4 hours after it stopped raining on Wednesday and were completely done with the re-roof with about six hours to spare before the next raindrops began falling on Thursday evening. Once the roofing was complete a clean-up crew came along and took away all the garbage. They did an excellent job on the clean-up. I think we found two nails but we had to really look for them. *****Chris M - Site Supervisor (?): It was great having Chris on-site during this process as he was able to ensure that everything went smoothly, on time, and as planned while keeping us up to date. Chris was professional and personable which carried throughout the entire process and including resolving the one issue that came up. Speaking of the issue. Our HVAC unit is on the roof. The unit was 'moved or lifted' to allow the shingle R&I, which shorted out the system completely once the unit was shifted. We had the unit repaired and submitted a request to PD for a reimbursement of the repair fees. We do not think any one particular person on this crew should be personally held accountable for the HVAC issue. I don't know if shutting off the main power would have prevented this from happening. We know it was not shut off as I was home working. Well I was trying anyway. I'm sure they thought we were crazy for being home during all that noise. Something for consideration on future jobs with an HVAC unit on the roof. We worked with Chris on a satisfactory resolution and have a beautiful new roof, an HVAC that works, and the reimbursement in hand. Petersen Dean has a very satisfied customer who will always refer business their way in the future. If I find another 12K I'll be calling them for solar! Ripp-off!!! Went with Peterson Dean/Solar4America because of the 25 year warranty that would give me peace of mind. The first rain season my roof started to leak. They came out and supposedly fixed it. Once it rained again, I had another roof leak in the same place. Called them again and they told me they could not respond until the rain season had passed??? Once rain season passed, they said they had filled for bankruptcy but that as soon as they got the okay from the court, they would be out to fix my roof. After several months of not hearing back from them and not answering their phone, I emailed them and they told me i was shit out of luck! Because whoever bought their solar side of the house didn't buy their liabilities. I now have a solar system with NO warranty and a leaking roof. This is an almost 2 -year follow up on my original review of having solar panels and a whole house battery installed by PetersenDean and things are now great. The Enphase solar panels and control system have been perfect, reliable, and have an excellent reporting web page system that allows you to see at any moment what your daily energy production has been, and where it is going and the demands of your stove or air conditioning on you grid use. It has lost connection once or twice in two years and for me, it has been easy to reset. I have shown the reporting web page to some of my associates and neighbors and they are envious, there is nothing else like this elsewhere in the solar world. I know what power I am using and it has made me a smarter consumer. After a few major failures and glitches over 8 months, the problems with the Sunverge whole house battery seem to have been solved, it has been reliable and completely trouble free for the past year. My neighbors seem to have had a few power outages in Pleasanton, electric clocks offset, but not my house. I had to understand the logic that the battery has been set to, and I had to ask that the mandatory battery power cycle minimal discharge be set to discharge at night, and the battery charge cycle be set to the day so I can charge the battery during the day when I have solar, and not charge the battery off of the grid. This was important since I made the purchase of an electric car, and wanted to charge the car in the garage at night if I wanted. We eventually got this reprogrammed, I had to ask a few times and explain the reason. I am a long term customer of Petersen Dean. After about 13 years I had a minor issue with a drip leak coming from a gutter in one my 3 roofs. I had just installed new sidewalks and did not want water dripping on it. I called Petersen Dean and they were very responsive. The problem was fully resolved under my roof warranty. The roof specialist was very professional and effective. I continue to have confidence in Petersen Dean as a highly reputable company for the long haul, and with a reputation that unlike many other roofing or solar companies will still be around if needed and provided excellent service and to honor roof warranties even 30 years after an installation. Wanted to be responsible and provide feedback on having PetersenDean install solar on my house. I thought that if the roof was damaged from the solar installation, PetersenDean could fix it. First of all, the process of installing solar takes a long time. Be prepared. I signed contract with PetersenDean in July but there were multiple redesigns from August until December, planning the layout, how many panels to install (I went for the maximum that they could fit on my little house) and where to fit things in the garage, and bypass subpanels. All of the changes needed go to through the city for approval. The Enphase solar panels and internet monitoring access were installed in December. I bought the whole system and paid cash. I also decided to go deluxe and get a whole house backup battery with the system. There are numerous considerations that have to be considered when installing a whole house battery in the garage, the city has stringent rules, and it took a lot of planning. I was originally going to have the largest battery installed, a JLM, but the JLM battery was too tall, did not have the ceiling clearance in the garage that I needed and the battery that I was going to have to be changed. So in February a Sunverge house battery and cabinet were installed. The house batteries need to be connected to the internet for monitoring, and I could monitor the battery from a web page, it is very cool. We decided on a wifi network extender to connect to my home network. It is a big deal. The Sunverge battery worked well for a few months, then started to act up with loss of connectivity for a few days at a time, gradually getting worse. The battery lost all internet connection in May and I had a catastrophic battery failure, all of the power went out in my house. (All of my house power goes through the battery). The backup battery did not kick in, and I had to flip emergency switches to go back onto the grid and disconnect the battery and solar. I was back on the grid for several weeks, had to have several inspections and finally Sunverge had to come out to replace the dead motherboard June 10. At that time the Sunverge people said that the wifi network extender might not communicate well with my network and that I might have to pull cable from my router for a hard-wired connection. Sure enough, the connection started to drop off again after about a week and so I had to order wall plates for my house and run cable from my router to the wall and then out to the garage, and then a PetersenDean tech came out and did the rewiring. Another day I had to take off for repairs. Things went OK for another month but then the system went off line again in August. PetersenDean had difficulty troubleshooting the problem. We bypassed the battery to get solar working again, and went around and around with Sunverge and PetersenDean. Finally Sunverge came out again in September and took the cabinet apart and found there was a catastrophic relay failure that caught on fire and burned several components including several current sensors. Exact cause not sure. The relays were replaced but it took several more weeks (and several more service calls) before the current sensors for monitoring could be replaced. I am waiting to see what happens next. My confidence has been shaken, and it seems that whole house battery technology is not quite ready for general use, there are still bugs to be worked out. I highly recommend solar, and the panels that PetersenDean have installed have been working perfectly. I have no qualms about their installation and my PG & E power bill has dropped dramatically. It is cool generating power from solar. However I have been trying to engage PetersenDean and Sunverge to see what they can do to reassure me about several battery failures, but service recovery is apparently not something they feel comfortable doing. When a customer suffers several sequential product failures, the company should reach out and engage the customer, try to reassure them, communicate frequently, offer regrets and some kind of recompense if appropriate. That has not happened, my calls have been unanswered, there has been only silence except for the techs who have come out. I have had to take a significant number of days off work to clear the garage, and free up around the battery so repairs and service calls could be made. I get the feeling that I am just a complainer to them. Right now I have buyer's remorse, I should have stuck with the solar and never gotten the Sunverge battery. I thought it would be cool and useful, but it has been nothing but trouble since it was hooked up. Clearly home backup batteries are not ready for prime time, and probably should not be installed into home systems until they have a few more years of troubleshooting and experience. I recommend that if you have solar installed, be sure there is a 1-800 emergency number to call if you have problems. read more

We signed a combination contract with Petersen Dean to install a new roof and solar system on March 5, 2019. I am writing this review on February 10, 2020 as we are at nearly one year and we still don't have our solar system installed. The salesperson we worked with was good - we signed and he committed to a new roof and solar being done by the end of summer - basically a six-month window. The roof was installed in July and was overall a sloppy job at best. And we still see no signs of solar seven months later. Regarding the roof install: The ridge at the overhang of the roof sagged on one side of the house due to replacement of plywood and one half of the facia and they never came up with a solution to fix it properly and from what I have seen they simply don't have the knowledge or skill set to do it right so I will probably end up having to do it myself. They also took off the roof of a detached garage, which wasn't in the plans! As you can see in the attached picture they are also getting horrible reviews in Bay Area Consumers CheckBook and I wish I had seen it before as I would have stayed away from this organization. I can reiterate the score of 54% for neatness as I picked up countless roofing nails, empty cans of sodas energy drinks, and cigarette butts. The crazy part is that they had someone specifically go around several days after the roof was done with a magnet to pick up nails and he still missed more than a dozen which is a bit scary with young kids playing around the house. Regarding solar: Once roof was done in July, we inquired about solar and they asked for payment in September for the first half of the solar project so they could submit for permits. We paid to move things forward as quickly as possible it could be finished before years end. When October came, we inquired again about timing and were told they were waiting on permits. When November came, we inquired again and were given the permit line again. When we inquired early December rather frustratedly, we couldn't get a response from our project manager. When we finally got a response we were now told that project overload was an issue, it would push install until 2020. January 10 out of the blue and like nothing had happened, our project manager tells us the permits got submitted. I guess us paying early October was not enough for the permits to be submitted. Then the permit got postponed again because laws changed not Petersen Deans mistake. I finally contacted the county of Contra Costa myself to see if our permits were done January 28 and they said "Yes all done Petersen Dean just has to pick them up. I told our project manager and she said their planning department would take of it. We will see how that goes but I am not holding my breath. Of course, we had to pay half for the solar project when they submitted the permits originally so now we feel we are stuck and due to their massive delay we missed our opportunity for the 30% tax deduction for solar install for 2019 which dropped to 26% for 2020 a loss of around $1000 and, yes we are still paying PG&E. This is a horribly run company that even has to mention in their contracts that they want you to contact them at prioritycare@petersendean.com before you leave a negative review. Guess what we did write them January 28 to let them know we were unhappy. A response came back on January 29 "Your concerns have been brought to the attention of our Operations Manager. From start to finish Petersen Dean has been a complete disaster for me. I spent $52k on a new roof and solar. For the roof : When the roof was installed my new facia boards were busted apart by PD roofers and they scraped the new paint from them. When I asked PD to fix it they said it wasn't something they covered. They damaged them but wouldn't cover the damage they did to them. The day my roof was complete I went into my garage and it looked like a war zone. I had just done a full remodel of my garage with new metal cabinets, new garage opener, new washer dryer that they dented from a roof piece. The roofers said that happens when you have a slat roof and the only thing you can do to prevent it is tarp the inside of the garage before they re roof. Well why wasn't I given that option?!?! When I called my project coordinator she said that's not their responsibility and it shouldn't be that bad. The solar : I asked to have my battery installed in my garage for safety reasons. Installers assured me that 90% of people do them outside and that he would mount it low where no one could see it on the side of my house and that it would be very hard for it to be stolen. So I went with his advice and when I got home the first thing I saw from the street was a big shiny battery mounted high on the side of my house held on by 3 bolts. My $12k battery that could be stolen off my house in about 30 seconds. When I called my project manager they wanted to charge me $600 to move it. I refused and told them if it's ever stolen they are replacing it for free. They ended up moving the battery into my garage for no extra cost after missing several appointments they made with me. I was also told when signing up for solar my whole electric panel would be replaced with a brand new one. It wasn't and when I asked why they said it didn't need replacing. But I paid for it! My project was done in August, my first payment on my solar was September of 2019. I was promised I would have my battery rebate before I ever had to make a payment and still nothing. They have lied to me in several emails and over the phone about why I haven't received my rebate. The most recent excuse last Thursday was that it's LG's fault for not testing the battery properly and that's why I'm not getting my rebate and that there 25 other customers in the same boat as me. I have contacted everyone I can at PD including their customer care email several times and I am no further than I was 6 months ago. I have never in my life received customer service like this. If you go solar or need a new roof I recommend going with a smaller local company that cares about its customers. I can only imagine what's going to happen if I have a warranty claim which is the #1 reason I went with PD. read more

We were supposed to have a Brad Schmidt come by on 7/15/2017 at 12pm to give us an estimate. Even received an automated emailed confirmation. I got a quote in February, and when I got back to them a few months later the price suddenly went up. I got another quote, took a couple months more to decide to go with the company and, of course the price went up again. When I finally decided to go with PetersenDean because they gave me a one year no interest no payment loan in August, I was told there was a two-month lead time. In the meantime they discovered that I was given a quote for a system that wasn't compatible and they had to rework the design, which delayed it even further. Now the problem is that I want to get this done by the end of the year for the tax incentive ending in 2019, and here it is in December and nothing has been done. I've called and emailed about an update, and they just say they're looking into it... They have great prices, but customer service that is extremely lacking. From the reviews here I'm afraid I'm going to end up with a system that simply doesn't work, or damage to my house. I'm seriously considering getting out of this contract. read more

I would just like to say after working for a Utility Company for almost 40 years I finally decided to go Solar and lower my Utility bill which was reaching almost $300 dollars a month and I received a 25 percent discount. I worked with there sales consultant Brad who we drilled for hours to make sure he knew what he was talking about and he did! I have to say the site survey technician and installation team did a textbook installation picture perfect job. There's an old term used by incompetent workers who build power lines, you can't see it from my house, well that's not the case with Petersen & Dean construction workers and I should know I built Power Lines for PG&E. I also want to mention Ana Robinson my Lead Project Coordinator who stuck with me 6 months or more after the job was completed to make sure the project was to my liking and was always available to answer all my questions. If you're thinking about going Solar I highly recommend these guys and yes I did get 2 other bids. RS read more

We used PetersonDean (under the Haleakala Solar name) to install a $50,000+ solar package with batteries back in December. Ever since we installed the system it hasn't performed as it was suppose to. Before we had the system we had around a $150-250 HECO bill per month. After we installed the system (supposedly capable of producing a $300 per month output) we are still seeing bills between $150-200 per month. I contacted the company several times over the past 6 months and was only able to get a crew out to look at the system after we had a HECO power outage (which shouldn't effect us since we have the batteries, but we lost all power immediately and we had red fault lights all over the panel). My wife was unable to take my daughter to school because the garage wouldn't open and there was no way she could manually open the door herself. After speaking with "Joe" in customer service, he said they had sent out a crew to look over the system and found that "The system was never updated and critical load was never set up" (protect against HECO power outages). How does this happen?? Don't you check your work to make sure everything is set up correctly when you're done.....He also stated that he would make sure to set up something online so we could track our systems performance. After this conversation nothing happened. I tried calling him several times (to his private phone number he had called me from) and he never responded. I left at least 4 voicemails over the span of 2 weeks with NO response of any kind. Finally, I called the company last week to complain and was told I would be contacted sometime in the next few days. After a day or so Joe contacted me again but I wasn't able to pick up because I was on a flight. I called back after 20 minutes or so and he didn't pick up. I left a message and can you guess what happens next....absolutely nothing! To date nobody has contacted us to help resolve the problem. Completely unprofessional once they have your money. I don't expect a system like this to perform without flaws, but I do expect a legitimate company to back up their product and remedy situations as they occur. If we could go back in time we would never have used this company to install our very expensive solar system. We were sold our system based on a lie and there is no customer service to help out or prove otherwise. It's almost like they know there's a problem but maybe if they ignore it it will go away. I wish I had read some of these reviews before signing with them. I would have seen all disappointed customers they have. Please do yourself a favor and do not use Haleakala for your solar needs you will regret it. read more

Our experience has been very poor. In 2017 Petersen Dean installed solar on our roof. Since then we have contacted them with several issues (discoloring, cracking) and they have yet to fix or resolve the issues. A service man did come out and take a look a couple months ago and he told us he would "send a roof expert out the next day" and then he never responded to us again. We have documentation of reaching out to customer service many times with no response. Today we saw a big roof leak where the solar was installed. It's been extremely stressful dealing with this company. I truly hope an Executive from the company will see this post and call us to resolve the issue this week. Please help us!! read more

I did my research, I checked out several solar companies, I even started to contract with one company that didn't work out in the early stages. Then I was given a stellar recommendation by a close friend that PetersenDean was the company for solar. I contacted the salesman, Phil Valderde in March 2019, who was fantastic and explained everything involved in the process. I signed up and the process began in early March. This is where the excellent service STOPPED! The project manager for my project, Gloria, would not return my calls or emails and when she finally did, I would send what she asked for but never got an acknowledgement she received it. Weeks later, she would say she never got it and to send it again, which i did. I was very patient acknowledging that there were several moving pieces to this project. After a 3-4 week period where Gloria failed to communicate with me at all, after numerous calls and emails, I notified Phil (the helpful salesman) who got a "manager" to call me. This manager, Jessica Lopez, acknowledged the issues with Gloria and advised there were several thins missing from the file that were requested of me. I forwarded her all of the emails i had sent Gloria with the requested information, that was sent at the time of the request. Again Jessica acknowledged that Gloria had been less than professional in handling the project. Jessica assured me that she would personally handle my project. That went well for awhile during city approvals and HOA approvals. Then came the day the panels could be officially installed, July. Yes I said July, four months after the process started. The crew came out and did the install, with back-up battery, in two days. However, after moving some of the panels for the battery back-up, i found that my AC unit wasn't working. I called my AC guy who said there was nothing wrong with my AC, and that the solar folks must have disconnected something. Mind you it was in the 100's those days. I called PetersenDean back and they sent a tech out a few days later to check the system. As it turned out, the initial crew had disconnected the wires to the AC breaker and tightened it down to where it was inoperable. The tech did a temporary fix by using a different breaker. I had to call them several times to get them to understand that the correct breaker needs to be put in. This is when I started getting calls from Asia. She was coordinating the approval with SCE as well as the project in general. So the project was on hold pending SCE approval. Then there was about a two week delay where it appeared the approval had not been requested. After contacting Jessica and Asia, i received notice that SCE was reviewing the application for license to operate. During that time the city had inspected everything and passed the project, but asked that a water ground be added. That was early August. Since that time, I have had three appointments where no one showed up and two appointments where techs showed up but didn't know why they were there. Those two are not included the three no shows. No phone calls or email that there was a problem and "could we reschedule" or the tech is running late. Just a total no show. The water ground still hasn't been completed, the bird barriers i paid for still have been installed. The system still hasn't been turned on. The battery still hasn't been programmed. SCE has finally approved the project after three revisions by PetersenDean regarding missing information from the application, which they completed. Again, no call backs, emails or anything. The last straw was appointment #4 on no shows, when the tech was supposed to come out and set the system up, program the battery, fix the water ground and explain how to monitor the system. No call, "i'm gonna be late", nothing. All I've had since Phil signed me up was exceptionally POOR service. You think anyone was sincere with an apology, "hey let me make this up to you?" NO!!! Now I have given them notice that i want out of the contract, I want these panels removed from my home and I want my money back. Did I mention that now not only am I paying the monthy fee for the solar project, but I'm still paying SCE to the tune of $445 a month during these hot days. I know it does not take 6 months to get solar, but here I am! BTW...the Operations Manger, Dallas Perez, call me last week to "make it right" after I demanded out of the contract. He told me he would call me today...WAIT FOR IT...no call and voice mail when I called him. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Further to follow, I'm sure. read more

I signed my contract 6/3 for a solar system and backup battery. My site survey was completed 6/13. (At that point your deposit is non refundable). I was told I'd have the designs in 2-4 weeks - On Thursday it will be 8 weeks!!! Over two weeks ago, after hearing nothing - even after an email requesting confirmation they had responded to a SGIP request for information because the person submitting the application failed to include required information - I reached out. All I got from the PM "Hello, I reached out to the SGIP team. I got a response form : XXXXXX stating that she spoke with you. Did you get all your questions answerd?" No response to my noting it was 5 weeks post site survey and I still didn't have designs...no update on the status of my project. (And the SGIP who "spoke" to me sent me a terse email noting the RFI was responded to, with a tone that made clear I was being a bother by following up despite my previous email going unanswered.) When I followed up again on the design delay I got, "Hello Good Morning, It should be out within two weeks." When I expressed my concern that we are already behind and not even past the second "phase" the response was. "Hello, I understand the frustration. The design team has been back logged on getting the designs out. Please let me know if you would like to precede.with the project"....So clearly my business is valued by the project side of the house and they want to keep my business . The sales person did escalate it to his boss who said he would look into and escalate...but he also told me my site survey was done 5 days after it actually was done (apparently the same day the survey was given to the design team?!?). So while sales showed more consideration/made me feel more valued as a customer....it hasn't done much... Here I sit over two months post signing the contract, two months tomorrow from the completion of the site survey, and still without a completed design, on a relatively simple installation in an all cash transaction....I had debated at signing about the number of panels I'd install (126% vs 146%) so we opted to sign at the lower as we were told we could go up at the design phase...now I don't even have confidence they can complete the original job let alone add a panel or two. I get that construction projects have delays, and I anticipated them on the part of PG&E or permitting - I did not expect to fall a month to a month and a half behind because of delays very much within Petersen Dean's control!!! Moreover I expect timely communication when there are delays and issues, not me having to be the one to reach out and find out what is going on every time the timeline slips! I had my solar system installed in April 2016. Since then, my panels have been working great. Shortly after installation, I had remote monitoring added so I can view real-time system performance through a smartphone app. This has worked great also, except for two instances. The first instance was when my dogs chewed through the low voltage wifi cable. I called customer service, and a technician followed up within 24 hours to schedule a repair time. The most recent instance was when I change internet service providers. I stopped receiving live data stream. I could not find a way to reconnect so I called for technical support. It's been over a month since my first service request, and I still have not had anyone from Petersen Dean or Solar4America reach out to me. I called again last Friday. I was transferred to a technician where I left a voicemail - No response. I called again yesterday afternoon. The customer service rep tried to contact a technician and operations manager - No response. The customer service rep issued an escalation service notice (whatever that means). So far, No response. For what I believe is a relative easy fix for them, why does it take more than a month plus two extra phone calls (so far) to try to get any customer service ? Mr Petersen, you were very responsive when I had an issue with your electrical contractor during installation in 2016. I sincerely appreciated your commitment to providing excellent customer service then. I hope you find this post with the same level of commitment to your customers. I need your help. read more

The solar team was equally good when installing the solar system on my newly installed roof. A number of titles had to be broken when the crew walked on the tiles. Julio (the project supervisor) came late with 100 new titles and replaced the broken titles and left me tens of new tiles for future replacements. The solar system seems to be working great. read more
