about an hour's worth of digging through my plants to pick up scraps
    G K.

I heard about Saul through word of mouth. He provided a quote that was very competitive on price and could start sooner than anyone else I talked to, so I decided to go with them. The crew clearly prioritized speed and efficiency, but that meant that they didn't take care with the scraps from ripping out the old roof. Towards the end of the job, they went up to the roof with a leafblower and just blew all the bits and pieces, nails included, off the roof and into my yard. I'm still finding old pieces of roof, sharp pieces of metal, and nails in my flowerbeds and lawn. I probably will never be able to find all the bits of roof and nails that are hidden throughout the plants surrounding my house. Communication could have also been better. I was often wondering what the status of the job was, and had to constantly ask him for updates. They did a decent job with the roof itself, but I'm not sure it was worth the mess that I'll be dealing with.

Very competitive pricing and quality workmanship. Took about 5 working days from tear down to final inspection approval. Work started on the week specified on the contract.

My rental house for sale in San Jose was pending, but contingent on home inspection (house, roof and termite). Per the official roof inspection i needed a brand new roof. Since the house was pending I needed a new roof fast, because i didn't want the buyer to backout. I called many different roofers for the best quote and best scheduling. I called Saul and asked a ridiculous question if he can quote without me being present. He said sure. I was giving the best price compared to 3 other roofers. My realtor was also doing an open house on Saturday and Sunday, so I asked Saul how fast he can finish the roof. He said he can get started first thing tomorrow and get it done within 2 days. I was very impressed and happy with his response. In regards to paying. He even met me half way between his place and my current house to do the transaction. This is by far the most impressive highest level of customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend Saul to anyone. Attached are pictures for reference.

Stoneridge Roofing has their own trucks, 13 years of roofing experience, is CA state licensed, bonded, insured with workers comp

Stoneridge Roofing is a now a family owned licensed contractor with two brothers (Saul & Jose). I went ahead and got a number of bids from Los Gatos Roofing, Woods Roofing, Bay 101 Roofing, Castillo Roofing and StoneRidge Roofing based on reading a mix of Yelp Reviews and Angies List reviews. My future painter (Felix of Valley Painting) also recommended StoneRidge Roofing. I decided I wanted CertainTeed LandMark TL composite shingles since they are triple layer, weigh about 305 lbs per square, very good reviews on Consumer Reports, most new construction homes use them, also went with an Air Vent ShingleMaster II Ridge Vent, 7/16" Radiant Barrier OSB to keep the upstairs story cooler. I had some dry rot on fascia boards so decided I wanted all 7 fascia boards changed using 2 x 6 Pre-Primed Pine No Knots along with 1 x 3 Shingle Mold and White Nosing. I also wanted one 2 x 4 barge rafter changed which had termite damage and some 1 x 8 lap boards changed. I also had one gutter installed on the side with a downspout. When the bids came in, you can haggle a little bit, e.g. Los Gatos Roofing will give you a $400 Angies List Discount if you are a member, Woods gave a $500 Yelp Discount. But StoneRidge really blew me away with their quote for the same materials and install. Stoneridge Roofing has over 13 years of roofing experience, if you check the License # 766411 you can see that Saul was originally in sole ownership of his business and then he entered into a partnership with his brother Jose under License# 951530 at https://www2.cslb.ca.gov/OnlineServices/CheckLicenseII/LicenseDetail.aspx?LicNum=951530 They have a C39 license, are Bonded, Insured with Workers Compensation. All the other bids had these additional charges of $4-$6 ft for rotten timber or $75 per barge rafter or 20% extra for wood replaced, you are not charged these fees with StoneRidge Roofing. I saw a swing of $2.5K for the same materials and work, based on Angies List reviews, Yelp Reviews and referral from my painter who had seen their prior work went with StoneRidge Roofing with confidence. The reason the other roofing contractors are more expensive is they have a salesman come out rather than the owners, so have higher overheads with these salaried sales persons. What also really impressed me about StoneRidge Roofing was the straight forward no nonsense bid, they just do it all in the original bid. So you know that you will not have to pay a $1 more than what you see on the invoice/ contract, so no nickel and diming afterwards for rotten timber or lap boards. Saul was very responsive via email and phone with follow up questions. I finally signed and emailed back the contract and scheduled a date based on weather forecast for sun for 3 days. Saul said install could take 2-3 days depending on how the install went, which was fine. Lorencio and his work crew of 3-5 guys (varied by day) showed up at 8am on Wednesday, had the roof torn off, fascia boards removed and install new fascias. Roofing is a noisy process, your house is basically like an oil drum and sound will reverberate through the house when a hammer, or something is dropped on the roof. So be prepared for that if you are home. The crew cleaned up nicely, picking up nails, water bottle, roofing debris and used a leaf blower on driveway and left around 5pm. The following day on Thursday they had the radiant barrier OSB up, #30 roofing felt which was overlapped 2inches, CertainTeed Landmark TL shingles up with 5 nails per square, Air Vent Shingle Master II Ridge Vent hand nailed with 3" nails, all 2" x 6" fascias finished, 1" x 3" shingle mold installed, 2" x 4" barge rafter installed, they even cut the wood that was extending out to prevent future dry rot and caulked. I also asked them to change the nosing color on side from black to white to match my future paint trim color and they accommodated. They also put up a new flashing on the side of the house. Jose showed up throughout the day to check if I had any questions and concerns, he is very approachable and also reassured me that they could redo anything if I saw any issues, but the work done was flawless. The roofing crew worked diligently for two days and finished the roof. Saul came by on final day to ensure everything was done according to my contract. The city roofing inspector came by after finish the following week checked the ventilation, did a random check to ensure at a minimum 4 nails per square were used and inspected a roofing vent to ensure plywood was cut back 1.5" which it was, no comments, he signed off on the roofing permit in under 30 minutes. I wholeheartedly recommend StoneRidge Roofing, you get a C39 licensed roofing contractor who has over 13 years of business, they offer 10 year warranty of labor on their installation and you get a lifetime warranty on shingles from CertainTeed (which is about 50 years). They had my large roof torn off and installed in two days which was very impressive!

I trusted his work and his company name was referred by a reputable contractor. Saber Roofing did an excellent job!  Ryan explained my roof-tile options and had great links to what they look like on real houses through his website. His site also provided information about the roofing process and materials. I waited for his service through winter rain & my own scheduling limitations, and it was more than worth the wait. Ryan's crew were professional, kept the site clean, repaired some rot of my 26-yr-old roof, installing new roof vents that only his company had recommended for safety & energy savings. I had asked for certain areas to be sealed well, preventing any  "creatures' " entrance that he'd agreed needed to be professionally corrected, which his crew did very thoroughly.  Ryan was available throughout the process and got back to me immediately with any questions I had. The contract added the plywood replacement  for the rotted areas, all clearly noted and within the price frame in the contract for unknown rot once the old roof was removed. The total payment was understandable & reasonable. The roof looks great, their guarantee also great. I couldn't be happier with the excellent professionalism, caring & quick communication Ryan's Saber Roofing provided.

Among the details, the rain chain is made of copper while the gutter is made of aluminum. Having these two metals come in contact could compromise the aluminum over time. So, Saber installed the copper rain chain with a protective barrier. 3) Their client service and sales director, Jake, was super helpful and extremely responsive to all my questions. 4) The crew was very efficient, provided high quality workmanship, and left the site spotless. 5) The gutter guards that were installed provide a really fine barrier to prevent even small debris from entering my gutters, but are easy to rinse so that fine particles can be washed through the gutters. 6) The two downspouts that were installed were matched to the color of our trim. Other companies offer limited colors or simply white downspouts, but Saber offers a wide variety. 7) Their pricing is very competitive. From end to end, this was a great experience and I highly recommend Saber Roofing.

And 2) Shahar was so kind, informative, and honest during our consultation. He was through and kept us updated every step of the way. When our project finally started the crew were so respectful and kind! We found way more damage than we expected which resulted in our quote going up. However, due to Shahar being honest at the consultation we knew this was a possibility so it wasn't super shocking. The crew was great at cleaning up at the end of every day, which we appreciate as we have chickens, ducks, a puppy and cat as well as a child who are outside. When the project was done, there were a few concerns we had, we talk to Shahar and he quickly corrected and had the crew fix the items. Our roof is beautiful and will hopefully last many many years to come. I am thankful we went with Apollo Roofing and Happy Shahar was our project manager.

Full credit to Rodrigo and Lincon, who were on top of things throughout the project. First, they patiently explained the full roofing process to me in detail when I was getting estimates. This was not my experience with some of the other roofing companies who felt rushed or were asking me to cut corners. In contrast, ELM gave me several alternatives before we zeroed on to a torchdown roof. Next, Rodrigo and Lincon were very communicative on our group chat and kept me apprised of the progress throughout, including tons of photos. Rodrigo was also very proactive in dealing with the city for permits as well as clarifications etc, which happened several times since our city is one of the stricter ones. During all this, we had a running clock since we were in contract to sell the house, but Rodrigo and company kept things in motion, sometimes working late hours to ensure completion on time, which we did with several days to spare. It was also very nice of them to talk to my buyers to tell them about the new roof in detail. I was also pleasantly surprised with their integrity. For example, the roofing torch is huge and heavy and accidentally did some minor damage to the house. They fixed it without questions in a very timely manner. They also provided us with a courtesy cleanup inside the house to cleanup roofing debris after demolition. So yeah, thanks to Rodrigo, Lincon, and their crew, we have a brand new roof and siding. They are polite, professional, reasonably priced, great at communication, and clean up well after themselves. Would recommend them 100/100.

So we got in touch with ELM Roofing and had them come out to do an inspection. Lucas was great. He identified the issue quickly, stepped us through what our options were, and kept us in the loop the entire time. He checked the roof out with a drone, since it was too high to run a single ladder up, and we got to watch the neighbor's resident hummingbirds go nuts trying to threaten it away. Evidently hummingbirds hate drones! We had our entire roof and the garage roof replaced, because the builder had cheaped out on underlayment materials and is a pain to get to fix anything under warranty. So, y'know, forget him, but this isn't a review about him. We've got a much tougher underlayment now, all the chipped tiles we had have been replaced, and it is quite honestly better than new now. They did clean work, too. Didn't mess up the yard at all, they were fastidious about noise levels and allowed work times, everything you'd hope a certified contractor would do (but do they? Well...many don't, believe me). Quick and thorough, and when the project got interrupted by rain, they kept us informed about that, too. They came out on a Saturday to get ahead of the weather and even let us know exactly what the local weekend construction ordinances were ahead of time so we'd know what to expect. I think that's what I'd say about them the most: No surprises. They don't do anything unexpected with the final invoice, they don't jerk you around, they don't treat you like you won't understand what they're doing. You're fully in the loop at all times and you're treated as a partner in the project. You get exactly the work and quality promised. And it's good work, with a 20 year guarantee. I'd highly recommend them.
